Buying Patrick

Paul didn't have any specific pets on his mind. He merely just wished to find the best match to his energy. He suspected he wouldn't be in for purchasing a lazy being that would be lying all day, no. He'd prefer something more active, that he could take outside with him, to run or to just hang around with him.

He checked the pocket of his jeans for his wallet - a new thing that his mum insisted on him taking with him for his first pet shopping.

"You can't go like this, Paul, you have to be more responsible now, that you are about to be a second year. Put the money into a wallet, so that you don't drop it, or that pickpockets don't steal it from ya on the way already." His mum told him, before he left the house. So he did place the money she gave him (which was a rather huge amount of Pounds and pence, more than Paul had ever carried) into a wallet which she also provided. It was made of leather and it was small and particularly elegant.

After finding the Magical Menagerie, Paul entered, looking around. The shop assistant greeted him and asked him what animal species he was looking for. So Paul told him that he thought about it and that he figured cat would be the best match for him. The shop assistant then took him to the part of the store where cats were. Paul touched some of them, even petted one, but it left him soon, wandering in a different direction.

Paul sighed. The assistant then showed him the bunny section, presenting him with several sorts of bunnies. Paul didn't really choose any here either.

Last but not least, the assistant led him to the Pygmy Puff section. Paul's eyes widened, as he saw an amount of fluffy, purple and pink balls, with a cute nose and even cuter eyes.
He strolled past the cages. "Uhm... is it a magical being? Never seen anything like this!"

"It most certainly is, young man. Would you like to hold one?" Asked the shop assistant, as Paul looked into one of the cages.

"Yes, please, if I may..." One of the Pygmies dragged his attention. It was purple and it was really tiny. Almost as if it were a baby still. The nose was almost invisible under its fur, only its very tip was sticking out of it. Its eyes were widely open.

The assistant took the Pygmy out, handing it to the boy. He took it, and the Pygmy soon produced an excited squeaking sound, jumping up a little. Paul had to pay attention not to drop it. "Hi there, I'm Paul." Did he introduce himself, lifting his palm with the Pygmy up to the level of his eyes. The Puff then started sniffing his hand, tickling him.

"Hah!" Paul pulled his hand away sharply, to scratch his palm, dropping the puff in the end. It immediately ran towards the door, which was briefly opened by a following customer. So Paul blinked twice as the Pygmy slipped out through the hole.

"Uh! I... i-it..." He forced out, running after the puff.

"Young man!" Called the shop assistant strictly. Paul halted, turning around. "Paying first, chasing later!"

Letting out a huff of half laughter, half dispair, Paul sprinted to the counter, to pay real quick.

After the transaction had been successfully done, he ran through the door, to the Diagon Alley.

"Thank you! Bye!"

And with that, he was gone with the wind.
