Livia’s lips twitched ever so slightly after his comment, though restraint in expression was evidently not her strongest suit this morning. It might have been humour or irritation for all he knew, though Camille rarely aimed to be humorous with his offhand, if well-observed, commentary—only accurate. The girl played along, leaving him none the wiser of the actual reason she was here, but countered an assumption of her own: that he couldn’t be bothered to assist in a group project. The observation was not entirely far-fetched, though it was not due to a group project he had been summoned. Besides, he doubted being lazy would have warranted detention.

“At least that would have been closer to justified,” Camille scoffed and pushed his sunglasses up to rest on the top of his head.

A few wavy locks of brown fell unattended over his forehead, effortlessly composed in spite of themselves. He did not care to mention the pygmy puff; what difference would it make in this company?

For as long as he could manage to delay working, he would, occupying himself by letting his gaze drift across the crowd. If the headmaster dared look in his direction, he’d pointedly ignore him. Further along the ward line, half-obscured among the copious amounts of branches and weeds, he spotted Cecilia Merrick— an appropriate detention addition if he’d ever seen one— and an entourage of girls whom Camille did not know. He did not need to know them. Considering the insufferable company they kept, there was little else to conclude. What was originally meant as a fleeting, judgemental glance turned into something more of a hostile glaring contest when the redhead made eye contact with him across the line. The scowl would have ordinarily sent his eyes rolling, but instead Camille found himself with the unhelpful urge to etch it more deeply into her porcelain-doll face. The thought of premature lines marring an otherwise immaculate complexion offered a small, private satisfaction, however unlikely it was.

He lifted two fingers briefly to his lips, his motion almost incidental, before letting his hand fall as though it had meant nothing at all. He imagined that the invisible kiss wouldn’t be lost on her. Before he could decide whether to commit to the reaction it deserved, Camille smirked faintly and turned back to the unpleasant reality in front of him. After all, Livia appeared to give him no other choice, taunting him about his presumed background, an assumption almost endearingly misguided. His background was nothing short of exceptional, though he had to remind himself: as if she were in any position to know. Nevertheless, Livia’s voice broke the quiet, and Camille found the interruption uninvited, drawing a small frown on his face. He had not intended to work yet, certainly not under these conditions, but avoidance was no longer an option. Not to mention the looming presence of an armored man. For a moment he wondered, not for the first time, who had decided that was an appropriate aesthetic choice for authority. With a quiet exhale, he retrieved his wand.

“Well, what do you suggest? I don't see you lifting a finger,” he asked, incredulous. “Should I submit myself to punishment for a crime I did not commit?” At the very least, the crime he believed he had been punished for bordered on absurdity.

On second thought, that was probably exactly what she wanted him to do. Camille followed up before she could respond with something she assumed to be clever. “Don’t answer that,” he said, flatly. He flicked his wand lazily toward a broken branch, possibly a boundary marker, though he didn’t bother confirming.

“Reparo,” he said, to see if it would make a difference.

“Muggle-born then?”, she presumed from the girl's answer to her previous question, “or half-blood; I'm not so sure if many pureblood parents mention Dumbledore nowadays.” She took Ophelia's small branch and placed it onto a small pile of grass beside her.

“Eurgh, what are those?”, she pointed to a group off odd-looking mushrooms that had red spots, shiny spots that almost looked like gems, they smelled particularly foul too, only to peer onto Ophelia and find the same mushrooms rested on what looked like soil after a fire. “You reckon they're poisonous?”, she asked with mild interest, trying to hack the mushrooms from the dirt, attempting to manuever her way from touching the things, precautions for finding odd plants in a forest behind the school.

Yet before she could fully root out the mushrooms, she heard her name being called out and a familiar face coming their way. It was Paul Turner, a teammate from Hogwarts' previous event called Duelling Hill, and he was inviting the both of them to look at something they'd dug up under a branch. And though unearthing the weird mushrooms did seem to tempt the girl, trying to salvage her social life seemed more important, so she surrendered her temptations and followed the boy instead.

Detention Detail PV Beyond the Treeline
At first, she thought Remy Break was some dumb seventh-year. Clearly, Logan Baird refused to help, for good reason, since Remy Break is rather a brat for being extremely rude to the headmaster. Even Denise was never this rude, either, despite being expelled from primary school for accidentally setting a girl's clothes on fire, or to most adults in general.

Well, maybe he just needs his wand? Denise thought.

Until the thought occurred to her, based on his mannerisms and his face, that perhaps he is a first-year like herself. That made things so much worse, because even if Denise wanted to, she couldn't use the dangling jinx counterspell, liberacorpus, unless she learned it in her sixth year or maybe earlier, but she didn't want her own attempts to go wrong.

Oh well, Remy Break, based on his personality, would likely go off screaming and would probably be suspended in midair for the rest of the detention, or even for a while, until either another older student who knows the counterspell or a staff member takes pity on him.

How annoying, Denise thought, much to her regret.

But it's best not to provoke, but Harvey Barrows, after a mean rebuttal on his own accountability, started to provoke Remy Break. Denise winced and saw the big size difference, despite Harvey Barrows being a year older. Well, he is shorter due to being half-goblin, and Denise would be terrified to even interact with Remy Break despite dangling upside down.

She looked at Logan Baird, working on a section and making a smart decision. Maybe she should join her? Using her Gardner's gloves, she pulled them out of her pockets (well, thank god she didn't remove them and clean them yet), to her hands and asked Logan, "May I join?"

She noticed Logan didn't have gloves or much equipment in general, which was rather strange since she could maybe just "accio" it, but Denise decided to disregard this thought and start moving the branches.

Note: Using gardner's gloves from trunk & interacting with Logan Baird (will format later)

Dahlia tilted her head in response to Della's instructions. It was the older girl's fault for deciding to pair up with a first year who had little respect for institutions or authority. She eyed the pile of sticks with sufficient distaste to stop a small army. "Why there, though? There might be other creatures who rely on this ecosystem to be like-"

She looked towards the older year as to gauge her reaction. The intention of becoming difficult was demonstrated by the glint in her eyes. Della, however, due to the confused expression on her face seemed to be concerned with something other than getting the first year to behave. She paused mid-phrase. Dahlia, although normally lacking in caution, had not noticed anything amiss aside from trees, grass, and the fact she was unjustly stuck in this detention. She ought to be practicing flying, talking with others in the common room, reading about the castle's history... Anything else except picking up sticks with other so-called delinquents. It was uninteresting.

The hand on her arm was unexpected. Her head swiveled, scanning her environment. Was there anything amiss? Dahlia did not think so. She stared at Della in confusion, eyebrow raised. Were hallucinations a regular occurrence with the Gryffindor? She had not heard anything about Della nor did she know her at all so it was a possibility.

However, Dahlia would not pass up the excuse to attempt an escape from this horrible location. She broke into a jog (a sprint would be excessively conspicuous. She believed they were attempting to escape a detention. ), following behind Della. “Where are we going?” She only questioned the endeavor once it was properly underway, her eyes widening as the older girl steered her towards the headmaster. Her expression soured as she realized this was not an escape plan. Of course. Della, from the two minutes Dahlia had known her, did not seem nearly rebellious enough to attempt an escape.

Robin nodded at Andrea volunteering to go get the materials and tools they needed. The boy quickly found himself approaching the agreed-upon spot, observing the overgrown roots and dead leaves around his feet. With a slight sigh, he took out his wand and uttered Wingardium Leviosa with a firm voice accompanied by the appropriate wand movement. His intent was to levitate the leaves and gather them at a centralized spot near him, so they would be easier to collect later.

"Thanks." Robin was looking at the gloves Andrea brought him as he said that. His partner seemed to prefer completing tasks with her own hands, but Robin was quite opposite. He dreaded manual labor in most instances, so if magic was a choice, he'd always choose to use it. That being said, the boy still walked over to put on those gloves. Still a first year, there were many spells he had yet to learn. He might have to touch things with his hands later, so putting the gloves on now wasn't such a bad idea.

Robin then continued to cast the Levitation Charm to move leaves and twigs to the pile they were gathering, temporarily closing his mind and swimming in random thoughts to pass the time. He thought about how there were so many people here, it's his first detention so he wasn't sure if this was the norm, but it doesn't seem like it . . . the woods also seem especially sinister. Well, woods were always mysteriously dangerous in his opinion, but the one he's standing next to seems abnormal in some way. Probably the magic? Robin quickly persuaded himself with an obvious answer, it's Hogwarts, of course it's "abnormal". It literally is. As if to seek reassurance, the boy stopped his incantations for a moment and looked up. It's morning, but the woods stretch into a dark void that looks like it can devour every wandering soul. Robin looked closer, didn't move, but slightly squinted his eyes to see if he can catch anything that fell under the category of "odd".

He hoped that he wouldn't find anything, but he needs to be aware if there was something going wrong.

Putting on the gloves that were provided, Rosaline observed the ground and saw a lot of tasks they’d need to do. Time to do the work. She pulled them tighter to prevent them from loosening. The coarseness of the gloves irritated her skin a bit. It wasn’t a big deal. Her gaze darted around the ground. Everyone seemed to be paired up; apparently, Erast and Leo were having a good time.

Zach’s reply was nice. Rosaline returned him a gentle smile. And one of the two boys who came later introduced their names to Zach and Rosaline. The young Gryffindor said with a grin, “It’s nice to have you join the party, Damien and Mamori. I don’t mind at all.” At this point, she had brushed aside her worrisome thoughts away about people noticing she was here. She was ready for work. Damien didn't look very pleased by Mamori’s presence and protested against Mamori’s statement of his innocence. It was not exactly what Rosaline anticipated seeing in this scenario, yet it was absolutely not something she could interfere with. She stood there, toyed with her necklace for a moment, and then tucked her hair back behind her ear, waiting for them. Admittedly, somehow seeing them fight was a bit interesting; she stifled her smile and tried to act calm at their dispute, though Rosaline had deep empathy for Damien’s situation. He was the type of student who wouldn’t even break rules or be late for class, a perfect student. She knew she should not judge people from the outside since she also appeared to be innocent in her friends’ eyes.

Rosaline couldn’t hold back a chuckle anymore when Mamori told Damien to take a deep breath. Immediately, she stopped the chuckle and looked away to pretend nothing had happened. Yet it must be noticeable. She could only hope they were too deep in their conversations and didn’t spot that giggle. Mamori’s explanation persuaded her, though she hadn’t thought about her parents’ reaction to her very first detention. Rosaline should be afraid of, yet the feeling was buried by the fact of meeting new people.

Perhaps she had channeled her inner Gryffindor at this detention. Upon hearing Damien’s words about a suspicious man appearing near the tree line of the forest, she perked up. “It’s ok. I definitely would like to investigate that man.” She said with a firm nod to them.

The utterance of Winnie's name may as well have been an incantation for the way it jolted the younger girl. With sleeves rolled up and—pink..?—sheers dutifully in hand, the Ravenclaw looked every bit the reformed rebel, determined to make the best of her punishment. Yet the moment she wheeled around, pigtails accidentally smacking poor Mister Campbell in the face, it was as though she had been caught red-handed all over again. Evelynn's heart sank just a touch at the pitiful sight of her doe-eyed sister stuttering through an explanation.

"I doubt very many students mean to get detention..." Evelynn murmured, expression mirroring that of Nabi's. Eyes the colour of the stormclouds overhead flicked briefly in the Slytherin's direction at mention of her name before returning to rest on the Eagle. The more Winnie went on to describe the circumstances of her transgression, the more confused Evelynn became. "Candles and chanting?" she echoed, head cocked just slightly.

And ill wishes towards a boy? That sounded... curious. Almost as though she were attempting a ritual to inflict some sort of dark magic upon someone. Realistically, a half-baked ritual was the least of the boy's worries. If they had crossed Winnie in any significant way, they would soon have Evelynn to worry about. With only a month remaining to her, she would likely be graduated and well on her own way before sufficient proof could be collected to pin her as the assailant.

"Why would I tell your mum," Evelynn queried with a peaked brow, corner of her mouth quirked with the shadow of a smirk. "Evidently the faculty did not appreciate the resourcefulness I exercised in employing my broom to make it to my next class and avoid the throngs of students clogging the halls..." A wave of her hand dismissed the notion. "Anyway, I am sure the boy had it coming," she continued, circling back to Winnie's reason for detention.

It seemed Evelynn wouldn't be left wondering for long, however, who exactly that boy had been. "Aamon?" A brow rose anew, this time directed to the Slytherin heiress. There had once been a time where nearly every face in the school was known to her, but the older she got, the more disconnected the lioness had grown from the youngest of the lot. "Aamon Athanatos?"

No doubt there were several Aamon's among the school's pupils, but the Athanatos child was the only she knew of, though she really didn't know anything about his character. Evelynn would inquire no further on the subject, however, simply watching Miss Park's expression as she glanced towards the castle with something that looked akin to disdain. Now, surrounded as they were by dozens of other students, was hardly an appropriate time to delve into the drama of her in-laws-by-proxy. But she certainly made a mental note to inquire about the context further at the earliest opportunity. Besides, Winnie had moved on, another individual capturing her attention and pulling both Evelynn and Nabi's to its source. Marshmallow. Somehow the nickname hadn't registered until Marshal had entered into view. Of course she would have some sort of fluffy moniker for him as well. Winnie did seem to hand them out.

"You too?" Skipping over any greeting, Evelynn's skepticism returned as she eyed the boy. Ever since their excursion the previous winter to curb their juniors' more self-destructive natures in the solving of the lost Gryffindor House Cup, the two had made strides to repair what had not just been a broken relationship, but one left shred to tatters. Where only last year, the seventh year might have ignored his presence at best, or hexed him on sight at worst, instead her countenance softened, comforted by the notion that in the midst of a group of students already devolving to chaos, there was at least one other competent individual on her side. She barely had the chance to mouth, "What did you do?" before Winnie's memory had prompted her to make proper introductions, forcing Evelynn's attention back to the two juniors. As such, she wouldn't notice Marshal's reaction to one particular revelation.

"We have—had—the same father," came the explanation for Nabi. "The Harpers took me in last summer."

"And we are already acquainted," Evelynn reassured Winnie. "Miss Park and I met formally during the reception of your wedding last summer. She left quite the impression. And Mister Campbell and I work together on the Headliner."

A polite smile turned then to regard the younger two students. Only to find Matthew not among them. The smile faded, eyes searching to spot him drifting away from the group. Rude. As her gaze continued to follow his motions, however, that thought was gradually replaced with guarded concern, lines etching themselves faintly across her brow. "Mister Campbell?" she called softly after him. Now that she thought of it, he hadn't acknowledged her arrival at all, even after greeting him. Nor had he said a word between the conversation with Miss Park and Winnie. Turned and ambling away from the group as he was, Evelynn couldn't exactly see his face, but he moved with a sort of lazy listlessness as one lost in thought or caught sleep-walking. As though in a sort of trance. Or being controlled. That alone might have triggered a closer examination, but the fact that he was decidedly moving towards the forest—

"Matthew!" Evelynn called more sternly. A second later, her wand was in her hand, fingers having touched the spring trigger at her wrist. Was her reaction a bit impulsive? Some would likely think so, especially with how at this very moment there were more than a few students sneaking off into the woods or attempting some sort of hair-brained action. But they were not immediately on Evelynn's radar and the Headmaster was otherwise distracted dealing with a rather impertinent part-giant. Plus, the lioness was not exactly in the habit of allowing those she deemed as within the purview of her care to bring harm to themselves. As such, she had a tendency to act first to prevent harm, then ask the questions later. "Immobulus."

𝕴n Valour's eyes, her cruelty was mere efficiency. She filtered through the crowd, ignoring the peering eyes of those that tried to approach her. A girl named Angel, misleadingly so, even introduced herself, but Regent hardly spared her a glance. Though she faltered as her eyes fell upon her accomplice and consigliere, Duncan, she found her way back to Oak with hardly a doubt in her mind.

They exchanged minimal words and subtext-heavy remarks. Icarus was certainly the optimist amongst the two, and for once, Regent was inclined to agree. The loss of their profits and underhand business scheme had infuriated them; the taste of a handful of galleons had left a metallic taste in their mouth that they couldn't help but crave. But this strange punishment of approaching the forest's horizon seemed to hold some new promises. If it weren't for Lear's orchestration of the activity, Valour would have almost certainly forayed in this direction with the other conspirators of M.A.P.S.

Her pearl-white eyes scanned the other inmates as they began to cut back the tangling weeds, some casting spells and other intermingling, casting uneasy looks at their cold Headmaster. A few stumbled backwards, eyes fixated on the treeline with looks of horror. A girl to their right started with fear, letting out a stifled gasp. Something was amiss here. Valour's head throbbed with an overwhelming sense of dread. Tinnitus and bells tolling.

"Something stirs beyond the trees. We aren't safe here." The statement would typically provoke a more self-preserving response. Perhaps a more reasonable individual would back away, resigning themselves to where they remained in sight of the castle. Valour bared their teeth in a canine grin. "Shall we investigate further, Icarus?"

Hardly waiting for Oak's response - and not really needing one - the girls trudged through the tall grass, venturing forward into the thicket.

Archer's mud-brown curls and unholy eyes met Valour's with a moment of silent challenge. He quirked an eyebrow in such a way that could only mean trouble. The offer was tempting. Valour's mind flashed with explosive possibilities. Burn the woodlands down in one fell strike. The sort of move that would certain have some dire repercussions, either by the hand of Lear himself, or whatever entity awaited them. Patience - Valour considered - was a virtue at times, though it was not a maxim they tended to live by. Impetuous with a devil-may-care attitude, firepower was certainly Regent's preferred method of operation. For now, however, they decided a more subtle approach would be preferable. For all they knew, combat lay ahead and the element of surprise would serve them well. She trusted the Viper's spell-casting abilities to do the dirty work for now; perhaps their paths would meet again further ahead.

Lyanna tacitly understood, adept now and tuned to Valour's strategic thinking. She cast her wand towards the boundary of the woods, muttering the Revealing Charm. The incantation brought a wry smirk to Valour's face as they shot their partner a curt nod. In the meantime, Valour thought it best to form a clearing. She reached into her robes and unsheathed a spray bottle. Herbicide Potion ought to do the trick. Valour detested needless physical labour, dropping the rusty sheaths supplied to her and dousing the route before them in the airy green liquid. The grass melted without a fight. Hopefully, they would uncover something worthwhile. The forest called them straight to the edge, leaving their classmates far behind. Far enough, that help would be difficult to find. Valour hubristically knew - she would not need it.

He would arrive to the active conversation a mite too late for its onset, just catching Winnie’s inquiry after the reason for Eve’s presence — an answer he was personally eager to hear. The latter of two red-heads proposed an explanation coated in silk; a dismissive tone and rich words seeking to wipe their contents clean of blame. Once upon a time the method had worked on him, convincing a naive mind that one such as she was far too official for fault. Now, a quiet snort escaped his nostrils at the realization that she had been caught riding her broom through the castle halls. The idea of that scene brought a smirk to his face. But would one detention be enough to bring the young woman’s feet to the ground, literally or otherwise? He thought not.

The sixth year felt multiple pairs of eyes find him then, as all seemed to register his presence for the first time. His amused expression endured as he acknowledged Evelynn’s informal greeting with a conspiratorial lift of his brow. This was the first and — in all likelihood — last time the two would share in a mutual affair of sanctioned retribution, and he couldn’t help feeling entertained.
Her silent question would be met with a shrug and an upturned chin toward Winnie as the other girl spoke, indicating to Eve that he would tell her later.

The once familiar name of “Marshmellow” shocked his senses with a sudden rush of nostalgia, involuntarily pulling at the corners of his lips, just as it always had. The grin only widened at the compliment which followed, drawing his eyes to search her form for one in return.
”Good to see you, Winnie. It seems pink still suits you after all these years.” A touch of flirtatious warmth carried on the words, hinting at a part of himself that had been dormant for quite some time. Yet his intention ran no deeper than friendly affection. The amorous tone was born simply of some deep set instinct within — one he had kept buried for years — and mingled with a genuine fondness for the girl. They had shared something once, whatever that had been and however foolish between two children, but he was content to leave it in its place. Despite his contempt for her suitor, Winnie appeared happy, and that was enough for him.

The next stream of information to leave the red-head’s mouth, however, would turn everything he supposed to know upside down.
“Oh! I almost forgot to introduce Evie to you guys!”
Evie. Another amused glance toward Evelynn. He hadn’t heard the nickname before; it was rather endearing, much like his own moniker given by the cheerful girl.
“Nabi, Matthew, this is my sister, Evelynn!”
It isn’t often one experiences the sensation of choking on air. Oxygen, after all, is intangible; it has no true form of its own, no way of obstructing an opening without extenuating circumstances. Therefore, Marshal wasn’t entirely certain how he nearly managed to smother himself with the very thing that allowed him to breathe. And yet he did exactly that.
The emergent sound from his person would likely mimic some kind of snort, followed by a strangled cough. Physically, the young man would curl slightly forward through instinct, a hand lifting to claw at the collar of his shirt, as if it was the thing restricting his airflow.
”Sis-“ The attempted word erupted into another cough, as his body fought to eject… what, bafflement? Was it possible to choke on shock? Perhaps it was as plausible as being strangled by air.

Swiveling away from the group, Marshal fought to clear his throat in a less explosive manner, subsequently missing Nabi’s remark regarding him as a dementor. Merlin, what a field day the strange snake would have hissing about this. Not that anyone would likely understand the riddles she was bound to speak. Let her warped mind conjure what it liked; he had larger puzzles to sift through, like how he might have missed the rather sizable piece that Winnie and Evelynn were sisters.
They were both gingers, sure, both fair-skinned and… both possessed rather shocking eyes. For heaven’s sake, they were sisters! Had his type in women truly been so one-dimensional? Had he tried his utmost in the past and failed to woo two members of the same family? Surely this information held some undesirable revelation about himself, but he hadn’t the mental dexterity in this instant to sort through that, nor to fully register that Eve had quick-fired a spell in Matthew’s direction.
Having recovered some control over his throat, the Gryffindor pounded his chest and glanced dully toward the target of Evelynn’s wand-tip.
”Sisters?” he repeated successfully this time, though not to anyone in particular.

Rosie saw as Lauren began to fidget with the toy she'd offered, and felt quite satisfied by the fact. Her friend deserved a moment to relax, even if that meant just squishing a simple Muggle toy for a few minutes.

She then saw as Lauren began to pick up a pair of dragon-hide gloves, starting to move the branches around. With a sigh, Rosie reluctantly joined her, knowing that nothing she could say in the moment would make her stop.

"So, Lauren, how long do you think we're going to be here? I really hope this doesn't take too long..." she said, turning a bit red from the exertion and the lifting.

Then, as she was putting down a moved branch, she heard a shout, Lauren calling her for help. She managed to look over right as some branches in a large pile were tumbling down, right onto her friend's head. Oh NO.

"LAUREN!!!" she screamed, sprinting over, feeling as adrenaline began overpowering her system. She didn't know how bad it was, but was most definitely not about to wait to find out.

"Oh gosh, oh gosh, Lauren! Are you alright? What hurts?!?" she asked frantically, not even sure if Lauren had passed out already. She grabbed ahold of her hand, pulling her out with what felt like very little effort due to the adrenaline in her veins.

"Hey, here, lay down." she said, guiding Lauren onto her back on a patch of grass. She then went into her bag, pulling out some bruise removal paste(self-brewed) and a few plasters. She began using both, hoping that they would fix her. Rosie was pretending to herself that Lauren wasn't bleeding profusely, like this was an injury that some plasters could fix.
