Footsteps in the Dark Abandoned

Creeping along this empty corridor was not Raven's idea of fun. It was dark and echoey and somehow there was a cold wind even though they were in the middle of the school. Sighing, the young Ravenclaw hoped she was almost near the end. All she had been doing was joking around with a friend about going to the kitchen. And here she was, one crazy conversation and a chickened out friend later, trying to find her way to the portrait of a bowl of fruit. All of a sudden she stopped, watching a faint light much farther down the corridor slowly grow brighter as it's owner walked closer.

"He-Hello?"said the wand's carrier, a young Ravenclaw like herself.

"Shhhh! We have to be quiet or someone is going to find us out of bed, breaking curfew. I am not letting either one of us get expelled our first week here!"Not the best introduction, thought Raven, but just a couple of minutes ago she had thought she heard a professor talking. She had to try again though, just so she didn't make this poor girl think she was horribly mean and unpleasant.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude! My name's Raven.", she whispered and stuck her hand out.

Cassie always wonder what it feels like to exploring the castle after curfew. So when the Prefect of Slytherin out the door of their dorm room, Cassie ripped open their black and silver blanket that cover their quarter and grabbed their wand. Silently and quietly they tipped toed around the Slytherin Common Room and out the door.

Cassie played cat and mouse with the Prefect that looming around the corridors. Hoping not one of them catches Cassie in the act, if that happened well probably Slytherin will lost a House Point and they got a howler mainly from their father. Then Cassie leaned into one of the cold wall of the corridor and wait for another person or people to walked by.

Then they saw someone using the wand lightning charm. Their wand lit on the tip of it and another set foot step accompanied the first one. The first one with shaky voice called out nervously. The second one demanding the first one to be quiet and she did not want someone to found them and the both of them (well the three of them, if Cassie include them self) being caught after the dark.

The first one introduced herself as Raven. Cassie also heard a professor talking to someone and that is why they decided not to lit their wand until the coast is clear. " Do you think it is a wise idea to use the wand lightning charm after the dark?"Cassie chuckles then they lit their wand. The bright light illuminate the corridor for a brief moment and the corridors become dark again.

"Name Cassandra"Cassie told the other two in the darkness of the corridor.

"Do you think it is a wise idea to use the wand lighting charm after the dark?" a chuckle came from behind where Raven and the other girl were standing. Whirling around, Raven came face to face with another person she didn't even hear coming up the corridor behind them.

With a quick wave of their wand, the Slytherin lit the hall briefly before plunging them all back into darkness.

"Name Cassandra". Looking at them, Raven thought they looked rather nice, albeit a little intimidating. With a small smile, she introduced herself again.

"You guys can both just call me Ray. I have a feeling that this is gonna be a long night and in the end we're either going to hate each other or be best friends". Pulling her walnut wood wand out of the pocket of her robe, the blue and silver dye'd hair girl cast a small spell to slightly muffle their voices so they could speak a little more freely. It wouldn't completely block out noise however, so they still had to be pretty quiet.

"There, that's better. Now, I'm getting the impression we're all a little lost. Personally, I'm looking for the kitchens, you know, midnight snacks and all, but at this point I'll take just any exit to somewhere I recognize.".

“Nice to meet you both,” Nell said, relieved it wasn’t a professor.

“Well, uhm, for one I’m quite lost. I didn’t really come here by choice,though. Some girls dared me to come down here then, well, locked me out.

Nell looked at the two girls and then focused on Raven.

“Well, your reason to be down here is...?” she asked the girl who’s name was Raven.

As she waited for a response, she studied the two girls. The girl named Raven had dark black hair layered with a all sorts of colors. The girl’s eyebrows were reddish, though, so Nell assumed the girl had naturally red hair. Her hair was also curly. Raven looked a tad shorter than Nell, as Nell was 5’ 2.” The girl also had hazel eyes and some freckles.

The other girl, Cassandra, recalled Nell, had long, wavy brown hair. Their hair reflected all sorts of things in the dark, so it took Nell a bit to figure out it was brown. Their eyes were a vivid green which stood out upon their lightly colored face.

Both girls seemed friendly enough, yet Nell wasn’t always keen on making new friends. Well, Nell didn’t have any friends as she was informed by someone that she should focus more on her studies.

When Cassie lit up the corridor, they can see that Raven has blue and silver hair that definitely being dye'd and the other girl has blue eyes. That is so blue, it reminds Cassie to the clear blue sky when they visit Havana, Cuba. "Nice to meet your acquaintances"Cassie nodded their head to both of the girls. Ray make a remarks that this night going to be a long one. She also said this night will make them as best friends or hate each others.

Ray pulled out her wand and cast a spell to muffled their voices so they could speak a little more freely, even though not entirely. Ray asked the group whether they lost or not. For her, she just tried to find the kitchen for midnight snacking but her priority is finding her way back. "No. I just want to know what the castle looks like after curfew"Cassie told the group. "It was.. eerily calming"Cassie smiled.

"I'm sorry but I do not catch you name, you are?"Cassie inquires the other Ravenclaw student. She said she was lost and some girls dared her to come to the Corridors then locked her out. "It is quite far do not you think from the West Tower to here?"Cassie asked the girl since Cassie know where Ravenclaw Common Room at.

"I can show you around since I got lost a lot during the day,"Cassie shrugs their shoulders. "I could also escort you both back to your Common Room but... are you willing to play hide and seek with the Prefects? I for one up for it if you are"Cassie smirks to the Ravenclaws. If both of them on board the little shenanigan, then this night will be so much fun and something Cassie will remember for a very long time.

When the Slytherin asked her name again, she responded.

"Nell, Nell Zoldak," she answered them. When they added that it was quite far from the Common Room to here, she replied.

"Well, I've been wandering for hours, so," she said.

Nell couldn't quite tell who said it, but one of them suggested they play hide and seek with the prefects.

"Well, I am up for hide and seek," she said confidently. Nell probably wouldn't get a chance like this again, so she decided to make the most of the situation.

Nell and the girl who suggested the idea waited to see what the girl called Raven would say about this idea. The trio kept walking, and Nell decided to light her wand.

"Lumos," she said clearly. The tip of her wand began to glow, which provided a better view of what was in front of them.

Nell stopped when she saw a suit of armor. She peeked inside the helmet to see if anyone was in there. She instantly regretted it, because when she looked inside, she saw someone standing upright, but they were lifeless.

Not wanting to disturb anyone else, she assured them there was nothing. "Let's, um, keep walking," she announced shakily.

Watching the other two girls converse, Raven decided maybe she wasn't as intimidated by Cassandra as she first thought. They were just wandering around the corridors, dodging prefects and exploring.

The other girl, Nell, she said her name was, was just sharing her story. Raven watches as Nell lit her wand with a spell and peeked into a suit of armor, before quickly backing away and pretending everything was perfectly normal.

Smothering a laugh, Ray kept walking and watched a mouse skitter around a corner. At the mention of playing hide and seek, her eyes lit up.

"Heck yea! I'm down for that". Maybe tonight might not have been what she expected, but she was excited to see where things went. As they all made their way forward, the young Ravenclaw heard noises coming from up ahead. There were two distinct voices and they both seemed rather young and higher pitched to be a professor. That being said, they were discussing rules and allowances in such a matter of fact tone, that Raven really didn't think they were students wandering the halls like the trio was.

Slightly panicked but also filled with adrenaline, she looked to the rest of the group to see if they wanted to hide or have a little fun.

Nell looked toward the two girls nervously. She proceeded to pull an invisibility cloak from the pack on her back and threw it over the trio quickly. She would have to explain where she got the cloak later.

Nell put her finger to her lips, signaling silence. The then walked slowly to the voices and stopped. Nell reached from under the cloak and hit a suit of armor.

It came down with a bangand the two males that stood in front of them came to a halt. Each pulled out their wand and began searching for who or what made that armor fall down.

The trio slowly moved as the males, who looked like prefects, got closer to them. When the prefects were finally gone, Nell took of the cloak and shoved it back in her bag. She smiled at Raven and Cassandra.

Nell was still quite disturbed from what she had seen in that suit of armor. She didn’t want to tell Raven and Cassandra, but she might have to. Nell was deep in thought as her eyebrows became furrowed. Her pale face became more and more disturbed.

All of a sudden, a hand waved in front of her.

"Great!"Cassie clapped when both of Nell and Ray agreed upon the hide and seek idea. The clapping sound rang onto the quiet halls of the corridors. "Oh shoot! I should have not do that"Cassie realize the hall is dark and a loud noise can be heard if someone passed the hall the three First Year students at.

The icy blue eyes introduced her name as Nell. Nell told the group that she been wondering for hours. Nell once again do the wand lightning charm and begin to walk. The light illuminate from her wand give a bit better view of what in from of them. "Are you mental? Put it out"Cassie said to Nell but Nell keep walking.

Then the three of them met a suit of armor, Nell being the one closest to it, she peeked inside but the way she told the group to keep walking with shaky voice did not assured any one. "What did you see?"Cassie let out a chuckle after they saw how Nell face was. Then the three of them heard a voice that did not belong to any of them.

Out of nowhere Nell pulled out an invisibility cloak and engulfed the three of them. "Where did you get this?"Cassie whispered with hushed voice. Nell put her finger to her lips, signaling silence. Cassie nodded at that. Nell reached from under the cloak and hit a suit of armor. The three of the walked quietly until a bang and clattering sound happened.

The two males that stood in front of them came to a halt. Each pulled out their wand and began searching for who or what made that armor fall down. "Move back, move back!"Cassie whispered-yelled to the group when of the prefect stuck out his hand to reached into the thin air and got closer to them.

When the coast is clear, Nell took of the cloak and shoved it back in her bag. Cassie let out a relief breathe but still a bit annoyed with Nell clumsiness albeit it was unintentional. "Really, Nell? You could get us caught. Seriously what was that all about?"Cassie chided and ranted but it seems Nell did not paid attention to what Cassie said.

Cassie then waved their hand in front of Nell face. "Hello! Where did you go? Did you not heard what I just said?"Cassie put both of their hands on their hips but upon seeing the ghostly pale face of Nell's, Cassie changes her tone. "Okay, tell me what's going on? I could see your face white as a ghost. So, spill!"Cassie ordered Nell.
