Silent Struggles
Zoya was a mess.
Her naturally pale skin even paler than normal, dark circles prominent under her dark red eyes. The girl did not have the motivation to put a pair of brown contacts in to hide her unsettling eyes. Her hair was a frizzy mess, sticking in every direction, unlike the usual neatly brushed waves. The seventh year's choice of outfit did not make her look any better. A pale purple sweater hung off one shoulder, clearly too large for her, along with a pair of black leggings and soft-soled boots. Anyone looking at the girl would think she had not slept in days, which was not far from the truth.
The dark-haired girl was not someone who normally talked about her feelings. In fact, her family had more of a preference for silence over big shows of emotion. It was the end of Zoya’s school, though. If she did not talk to someone about her struggles now, she was never going to make it far.
The Director of Koldovstoretz was not the first person Zoya would have considered talking to, but he was probably the person who would be the most help. He would never be able to completely solve her problems, but hopefully he would be able to help some.
Zoya now made her way across the grounds of the Russian school, the Old Tower looming overhead. Her steps were nearly silent as she moved, the only sounds coming from her being her stuttered breaths and the occasional click of a blood-pop against her teeth.
The scent of wet dirt overwhelmed her senses as she made her way through the maze of classrooms and other miscellaneous rooms. The director’s office was rather inconvenient to find if you were incompetent at remembering locations, but the girl managed to find the room after a couple of minutes. Zoya stood outside the door, looking like a sad puppy as she reached up and knocked.
