XXXXX𝓐 throbbing tension headache had sufficed enough for a permission slip to depart 5 minutes before class had concluded for the week. To Meiyu's discontent, it had meant missing the final 5 minutes of Defence Against the Dark Arts, a subject she had grown intrigue in and would no doubt return and ask whether any homework had been assigned. She had refused to truthfully disclose the source behind her the ache, citing a mere stomach bug and permission to withdraw early. Whilst departing from the first floor, she briskly hurried through the elongated corridors until she reached the moving stairs, her fingers twiddling with the prefect badge she had received a day ago which likely aided her early withdrawal.

Moving with a mind of its own, the staircase had not stopped closed to the Gryffindor Tower, forcefully halting on the second floor whilst the staircases above moved on their own accord. Meiyu sighed with discontent, partially irritated that she could not yet seek the slumber she desperately sought. It had been over 35 hours since the lioness had slept with ease. Most nights, she slept in short intervals, frequently waking from nightmares which had taken her back to that sorrow evening — haunting every waking memory and transcending into vivid recollections on the odd nights she succeeded in seeking slumber. In truth, she had dozed off for 10 minutes during class, her mind relaying key details from that evening, though, in a more twisted manner that had sent a shiver down her spine.

Meiyu's lack of communication with her dearest Evpraksiya over the course of the last few months had aided in her sorrows; noting the lack of movement between her communications with her beloved Hans, she had felt as though things had worsened significantly. Delving into her studies had been a primary fixation during this time, Meiyu often nesting near the Great Lake on weekends, her head nested between a book relaying incantations following the loss of her last duel only weeks ago, a loss she had taken far too seriously than she initially cared to imagine. For the most part, the remaining months of Meiyu's first year in the wretched institution had soured in a matter of weeks, her condition deteriorating by each minute which had passed.

"Ugh, stupid staircase." She uttered with growing irritation, her palms clinging onto the straps of her leather brown satchel as she hurried along the staircase, arriving on the second floor with no desire to be there. In the time it had taken her to reach the second floor, class had concluded for the day. Chatter had quickly filled the halls only worsening the tension headache which had been in full swing by now, the surrounding staircases quickly filled with students who rushed to extra curricular activities or in the direction of their dormitories as the week came to it's long awaited end.

Brushing past whomever came in her way, Meiyu hurried towards an empty classroom, seeking some form of solace even if it were for a moment — but to also elevate the throbbing of her head. With spring in full swing, the corridors soon reeked of students who clearly passed on wearing deodorant this morning, if the scent had not been enough to spark a new bout of irritation, being in such close vicinity to people did. She hurriedly inched closer to the stone walls, her head only continuing to throb by the second as students moved through the corridor, her breathing becoming slightly more erratic. The filled corridor had been so quick to remind her of that night. How the Knight Manor had been filled with guests to celebrate the Christmas period, how she slipped away with Evpraksiya who had now acted as though their fates did not intertwine like a written prophecy. Over time, Meiyu had been quick to blame Evpraksiya for their distance, citing the paranoia she had become subdued to had been a ploy for attention; then she had noticed how she had gotten significantly closer to another, the moon-kissed girl with golden hair that cascaded down past her shoulders.

Meiyu's infuriation had quickly grown, matching the pace of her breathing, which had then halted upon a peculiar sight. The man from that evening stood amongst the crowd of students, drenched in blood. Refusing to believe what she was seeing, Meiyu shook her head vigorously yet, the man remained amidst the crowd. Her head had only throbbed more with something within her forcing her to look down at her palms, revealing blood stained palms and a dagger no where in sight. Revisiting the nightmare which had been a harsh reality mere months ago, the lioness let out a piercing scream, soliciting a few glances from the few students who had remained in the corridor by now. Her eyes filled with tears in an instant, her head shaking vagariously until she dropped to her knees, tears falling as her vision blurred though remaining fixated on the bloody palms.

Pieces by pieces, a broken teacup was gathering its shattered parts of itself, sticking them together. Pieces by pieces, centimeters of porcelain glued itself onto another, solidifying, until finally it was restored to its original form. A new teacup? Or the very same? After breaking and rebuilding, can one affirm remaining the very same?

Perched on a bench of an empty classroom, the daughter of the moon was deeply absorbed in her practice of the Reparo spell, breaking and fixing a porcelain teacup she had snatched from one of the tables aligned in the Great Hall. Now shattered, she absentmindedly twirled a broken piece of porcelain between her fingers, thumb running along the sharp surface. Broken. Such an displeasing word. Torn to pieces, shattered, fragmented, splintered, demolished, crushed, fractured — passive, something to endure, something dawned upon yourself against your will. What occurs when you are the one to destroy? When your own mind turns against itself, when your own body rejects you?

Ow.

A drop of blood, single pearl of crimson dripping down her finger, crashing into the polished wood of the table. The shattered piece currently spun between her index and her thumb was now maculated with red, smudged over its uneven surface. The sting lingered beneath her skin, distant, belonging to someone else's body.

To say she wasn't better would be a distortion of the truth. Her nights had grown wider, with the approach of spring, and though the nightmares were something she could not escape, they appeared to have softened, to the point where at times she could affirm she was dreaming without fearing this parallel world could be reality. As a result, the dark areas circling her eyes had been reduced to the indelible traces of her childhood, with none of the recent additions. Still, an uneasy sense of restlessness was settled within her bones, a bad feeling that appeared to stretch beyond time. As though the world could end at any second. Leg boucing up and down, the raven felt like a scream was held captive by her throat, refusing to escape its prison.

Her shoulders immediately tensed upon hearing a terrifying scream echo throughout the corridor, and for a split second she thought it might have been her own voice, before reasoning with herself and jumping to her feet. Damn repairing that broken teacup, perhaps her freezing hands could serve to repair something, or someone else. Perhaps then the sense of urgency screaming through her every limb would vanish.

Erupting in the corridor, Elena passed two fleeting first years, and deduced whatever eldritch creature had frightened them would be the origin of the scream. One hand lightly brushing the intricate patterns of the walls, she retraced their step, humming softly. The sight of a curled up figure at end of a corridor pushed her to halt, and approach more carefully.

"... Meiyu?"

Eyes cracked, translucent tears streaming down her cheeks and the fixed gaze of a madwoman, but it was indeed the beautiful lionness Elena has met under the moonlight. Black lace, stains of blood on silver blades and chinese porcelain had left place to something more sinister. Broken?

TRIGGER WARNINGS: Blood mentions, paranoia, mentions/allusions of attack(s).
XXXXX𝓝o stranger to auditory and visual hallucinations, Meiyu failed to decipher what was real and what had been a fragment of her imagination. Her state had worsened with the arrival of sleep, struggling to succumb to sleep once more, likely attributed to the plummeting stress of her grades worsening months ago and the failed efforts to bring them up once more. Her mother had reaffirmed the significance of maintaining an O average and accepting nothing less, her attention shifted to studying tirelessly each night, frustration growing each night as she perfected her casting, her note taking, sacrificing sleep in instances where her other duties came into play.

The throbbing of her head had deteriorated her far more than she wanted to admit, ignoring it for days prior, deducing it to nothing worth a trip to the Hospital Wing — rather being seen dead than trailing her way there.

What she saw before her was real, she would bet her life on it. The figure appeared with such an accurate depiction of the man from that evening, it had truly petrified her, a fear that the dead had risen being plausible than reality and the inability of it. Meiyu brought the palms that she bad believed to be stained red to her face, concealing her eyes from the deception before her. Tears spilling consistently and faint sobs omitting from her lips. All sense of reality froze before her, for once caring little if anyone had seen her, her arrival to coinciding with the conclusion of classes, the corridors becoming louder by the second — burning sensations felt on her skin as though all eyes had shifted to fixate on her. Meiyu shook her head more, disapproving that this was happening, forcing her into social suicide and faltering the image she had spent all year building.

A voice had lulled her away from the panic, only for a moment.

It called her name, voice melodic akin to a sweet angel.

It made no sense, Elena had spoken to her, the dead could not comment and the blood remained.

Her hands slowly withdrew from the concealment it brought to her vision, gazing upwards with glassy eyes, tear stained cheeks. The moonlit princess arrived to her rescue, as though a gift from the heavens herself, concern plastered across her delicately crafted features had only churned at her stone cold heart, then, her eyes trailed down, catching hues of dark red on her palms, matching the hue on her own. She had been subjected to the man too, she had contributed to his twisted fate — or worse, her blood stained hands had meant she had brought harm Elena's way. It had been a twisted game of her mind deceiving her once more, eyes blinking to ridden herself of the blurred vision consequence of her tears, yet the red remained.

"He got to you.... no... I got to you..." She wailed, lunging forward to grasp Elena by her legs, clutching her with such tightness it would only ache as she continued to sob, her body quivering and her breathing continuing to quicken. Reality interloped with delirium, her chest tightened as each second passed, gaze refusing to waver to the atrocities she had somehow committed in the minutes which passed. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry I hurt you. I promised to never hurt anyone." Meiyu mumbled, her thoughts transcending into a spiral, strings of apologies spilling over and over, her gaze finally moving to look up at the Ravenclaw who appeared as pale as ever, dark circles beneath her eyes, the life seemingly drained from her beside the sign of life being blood on her fingers.

Meiyu moved with haste, pulling herself off the pathetic grasp she had on Elena's legs, reaching to elope her palms in her own, then bringing their entwined palms to Elena's face as though an attempt to revive her somehow.

"Stay strong, I will save you. I will fix this. You can't die here, I won't stand for it." She panicked, spewing any nonsense amidst the sniffles, her chest still heaving — pupils dilated as a newfound sense of urgency took place.
