The girl had not played Quidditch before. Well, not officially anyways. She had played as a keeper before in two student-held matches. Being present in the had fed her egoistical mind to think that she was qualified enough to moderate one. Though she wasn't entirely sure if she could recite all rules by the quidditch handbook without failing, she is sure that having been knocked of her broom once and cursing under her breath one too many times is enough to know the basics.

And so she rounded up exactly 22 students who were eager enough to let a first-year moderate their match, a few faces she'd seen flying professionally at the stadium, and a few who looked like they'd never rode a broom before. Nevertheless, she skimmed through every page of Quidditch: a History and several other Quidditch books to ensure that the match was to go as smoothly as possible.

On top of that, she'd spent the past two days learning the Slowing Charm in order to keep those unfortunate ones who are to be knocked off their brooms unharmed. Though hopefully nobody will do once the match starts.

As she waited for both of the teams to fill up, she took consideration to the weather. It wasn't too dangerous, though it did seem a bit chilly, it couldn't possibly cause someone to end up with hypothermia. It was pretty windy too, she could feel the air twirl up her hair, not too bad conditions. It wasn't exactly strong enough to knock someone off their brooms either.

As the two teams make their way to the center of the pitch, they will see that Tatiana is standing there and already holding her newly-bought Nimbus 1001. “Good morning everyone,” she said confidently,“Thank you for coming here today, I'm positive that you all know what is and how to play Quidditch as well as its rules. Once this match starts I will stay by the side watching the game, if any of you falls and does not get saved in time, do not worry as I will perform the Slowing Charm on you to ensure that you do not have a painful fall. Although I am new to this moderating business, I will guarantee you that I have read through the rules myself and have understood it. Now, at the blow of this whistle,” she gestured at the small cylindrical brass secured by a thin leather lanyard around her neck, “the match will start. Best of luck to both of the teams,” she shook both captains' hands,

“And now,” she blew hard on her whistle before climbing onto her broom, “the match begins.”

Quidditch! The wizarding world's second best sport! Nothing could beat broom racing, so naturally Colin viewed the other broomsports through the lens of crashing through hedges of deadly thorns and facing hard stone obstacles all whilst slinging spells, stones, and knives at each other in an attempt to careen, or limp, across the finish line first! At least quidditch was played on a broom whilst flying. That made it marginally okay in Colin's books. The whole "no spellslinging allowed" rule was really quite unnecessary in his opinion and only served to make the game far less interesting. But at least they had bludgers!

Colin zoomed across the grassy pitch, not quite greening with the approach of spring, and headed straight for first year Tatiana Contraire, the mastermind behind the day's match. There she was waiting for all the players to arrive. Though he recognised Silas and Cecelia from his own House, he didn't know most of the kids that began to assemble on the pitch. With the exceptions of himself and @Avery Gray, most of them looked to be first years.

Colin smirked.

"Ayo Aves!" he called out. "Looks like a lot of first years will be learning how to fall off their brooms today!" He hovered slowly over towards where @Silas Norwood had positioned himself. Colin purred: "Skyriders, eh? Don't fret laddie! The Bludger Brigade will be sure to ride the skies over to hospital to visit you lot after we win the match!"

Colin listened with mild interest as Tatiana started on about rules. "Pfft," he scoffed under his breath. "Rules exist to keep those in line who don't know any better!" Colin had certain Ideas about rules, how they should be applied, and most importantly, who they did not apply to. Naturally, one needed rules in a game like quidditch. After all, if there were no rules, the other team would not likely play a fair game! And that would be most unfortunate. But it was also true that rules were meant to be guides for a given situation.

For example, if the Skyriders should somehow come close to catching the snitch, there was really no sensible reason not to assist their seeker off her broom! The goal of the game, of course, was to win and the rules were designed to ensure this happened. Ergo, as long as the Bludger Brigade won the match, clearly the rules were properly observed!

Colin smirked. Of course, there was a vast gulf between "observe" and "actually follow", but whatever the umpire didn't see, didn't actually happen!

Another match. But this time, Denise will be having fun.

Kinda.

For the first time, she's a beater. She's used to being a keeper, since that's what she thought she was good at. Either way, she sucked and was excited to try another position with a lot more excitement, meaning she probably won't last long in the broom.

Denise flew up in her good old Comet 180. She will likely go KOB. Her experience and expertise are not the best, and @Avery Gray will likely take over, but she's ready for the fun.

Going KOB or being knocked out of the broom is not a great feeling. You're in incredible pain, and most beaters out of petty revenge and anger end up in the hospital wing.

But that thrill and excitement still flooded Denise.

Well, let's see how long I'll last.

The moderator was a first-year student. Are all moderators first-years or teachers? At least Tatiana Contraire offered a slowing charm so she or everyone else does not fall to their doom.

Well, that doesn't mean she will crash to the ground in pain. She will still crash, but enough bludgers will definitely hit her to the point that she will last a week in the hospital wing.

Colin McCoire, with an annoying ego of a Gryffindor and the excitement of a golden retriever, was basically excited to break the rules.

Well, Quidditch would be boring without the chaos, won't it?

It had been so long since Cecilia had stepped onto the Quidditch pitch. After her brutal crash against the badgers, there seemed to be a mental block getting in the way of her performance. Isolated practices simply would not cut it anymore. She needed to get back out there to be more useful to her team.

When she caught wind of the unofficial game taking place, Cecilia knew this was her chance to prove to herself that she had what it takes to take her team to greater heights. Although she would not be in the position of a chaser today, she was not dissatisfied. After all, there was no better training than putting herself in her opponent’s shoes. It was time to think like a keeper.

Well, not quite.

Cecilia would be benched at the beginning of the match, a reality she was not too fussed about. Though being on the pitch would be more beneficial, she really did not want to see her teammate falling – again. The Bludger Brigade seemed like a fun lot to be around. Their team name amused her so much that she almost forgot about how much she loathed that iron ball. Taking her seat, Cecilia quietly hoped that this game would likely remind her of the reason she loved the sport so much.

Point one, Quidditch was a huge unknown area for the Gryffindor, therefore, he was barely aware of what to do. Thankfully, he was lent a broom by his Housemate, Avery.

His limited knowledge also consisted of the basic info about the basic rules of Quidditch. What he understood out of their flying lessons was, that there were goal posts which were supposed to be hit with less violent balls by the Chasers. And there were more violent balls, which Paul chose to be managing in this game, for they held a promise of danger and, this little guy's favourite, challenge.

Out of all the positions he could get, he chose the most violent one, of course, as if he weren't a first-year without a broom of his own. He actually borrowed one from his teammate, Avery, to be the most efficient possible.

"Hi!" Did he greet the Hufflepuff girl who he knew from around. He was pretty sure her name started with a D. His attention then shifted to a rather excentric, blond guy with dreadlocks, who he also greeted and said: "Nice braids, man! They real, or fake?"
Last but not least, Turner started paying attention to the person who the present people were gathering around, which must have been the host. "Hello there! You must be Tatiana, aren't ya?" Asked Paul, flashing the girl a bright smile. She looked no older than himself, he was even aware of her, likely from one of the lessons. "What an awesome idea, to throw an unofficial match! Thank you for organizing it!" To his defense, she wasn't really speaking yet, and there were only a few people on the pitch still.

Tatiana then mentioned the rules, and crimson started climbing up Paul's neck. I know too little. Shame on me... Wait, no spell-casting, perhaps? Yeah, I think it was one of them. Well, the rest will have to be a trial and error method. Thought the boy. The older, blond boy said about chaos almost exactly what Paul was thinking, so he grinned and chose to reply: "Or, as my grandpa says, it takes a genius to master chaos!"

As Tatiana wished best luck to both teams, Paul clapped, then whistled on his fingers, to cheer the mood up a bit! He watched as Avery shook Tatiana's hand, and, as the first-year moderator blew the whistle, he jumped on the broom.

Derek was pacing around near the Quidditch pitch, leaning his broom against his shoulder and staring into nothingness already fighting the battle. Sky Riders still hadn’t arrived but that didn’t matter because he knew they were coming. Everyone knows they were coming. They built themselves this reputation and this confidence leading up to the match. Derek loosened his grip on the broom, shifting his hands around casually and rolling his shoulders. Gentle gusts of wind swept over the field in waves. It wasn’t really calming Derek though, if anything it was adding to the pressure. He didn’t try to shrug it off though. He welcomed it. “Think they got themselves this game all figured out.” He muttered. That was pretty much the problem with the Sky Riders. They came to every pitch thinking the game was theirs and all that needed to be done was confirming it. He could picture it now. Could picture how they would play and what would favor them. Confidence was all they had and in the end that was what would tear them down. He knew how to break their defense. Derek smiled lightly, he was going to rip them apart. Leave nothing but scraps behind. Literally, once he’s done there not gonna be anything. Other than the crying mess they’ll become. Duh.

Olivia was beyond excited as she made her way onto the Quidditch pitch. It felt huge being on the actual pitch compared to the many times she had been on the stands cheering for her team. As she walked towards her teamates she felt the brisk cool wind on her face, almost the perfect conditions for a match. The team were an interesting bunch of people all just as eager as her to win as her or at least have some unforgettable fun.

Olivia looked around at the hoops she couldn't wait to be in the air with the wind in her hair, she could just picture the cheers when she scored points and the celebrations that would follow after. She was looking forward to this day a bit too much then she had thought, she had missed playing sports with her school and the wait to join her house team was a lot longer than she had anticipated.

What better way to gain some practice before she got onto her house team, she had thought when she decided to sign up. But she couldn't be seen with her pathetic house broom, she wanted something better, especially since no one on her team seemed to be using one. Colin had been nice enough to lend her his Cleansweep 2. Nice was one way to describe it, his exact words were, "What do ye think I am, Cuthburt? A bloody broom factory? Like I can just pull an extra broom out of me satchel?" It was an anceint battered looking broom, and she couldn't buy one better, not now any way, therefore her choices were quite limited. Hence why she had no choice but to suck it up and take what she could get. She was sure Colin could tell she was not one to be seen with old items, which only seemed to add to his entertainment on the situation, even making him offer to worsen the look of the broom.

Another day, another unofficial match. The amount of times Avery had participated in was racking up quickly. There was just something about the thrill of the sport without the pressure of having to perform and lead your team to victory and get the house cup. Unofficial Quidditch was also a good way to get in the practice she needed when it came down to the wire in official games.

Avery had been appointed captain again. An honor and responsibility she took very seriously. It was her job to take care of her team and make sure they were playing to their best ability. That was never easy, but completely worth it. She loved being a leader. It pushed her to greater heights when she felt the thrill of flying in the sky and the team awaiting what was next planned.

This time, though, she would be sitting along the sidelines for if not all, at least most of the game. It sucked, yes, but she had to give the chance for new members to the sport a chance to fly high and show off what they could do. Even if it meant she only coached from the sidelines.

As her team walked in, she smiled. Colin, her friend, was on the team that day. The day was only getting better and better. She laughed at what Colin had spoken before saying, "Hi Col! I guess we will be teaching these firsties a thing or two about falling."

Avery laughed again as she remembered herself as a young first year when she had fallen hard off her broom and broken her leg. That had been the day she had met Colin. It was also the day she learned that apparently some, but not almuggles bathe in their own poo they called sham poo. What a confusing concept. Avery shook her head out of the clouds. She had a game to play.

"Alright team! Today is the big day! I can't believe it has come down to this moment. Now, when that whistle blows for the match to begin, I wish you all good luck out there! We're the Bludger Brigade! We've got this!" Avery raised her fist in the air and turned away to shake the hand of the younger girl who would be moderating the match today.

"Good luck with the moderating. It seems like this might be a wild game." Avery smiled before turning away and heading back to the benches.

It was a rather chilly day, and Laasya was walking again to her second unofficial Quidditch match. She was one of the first string chasers this match, the other two being Max and Poppy whom she played with in the other match. She hoped that this time, she would not be hit with a bludger. Bludgering people had been fun. But Chasers didn't use bludgers. Instead they were expected to score with the quaffle. She had absolutely no experience with this branch of Quidditch so she hoped that she would not mess up.

She arrived and scanned her surroundings. It was mostly first years who probably hadn't played the game before. It was basically her on her first unofficial game; confused, inexperienced but excited for what would come next. She saw the people playing on the other side. Unfortunately, some of her friends Lily and Denise were on the other side. Atleast Max and Poppy were there with her. There was only one person on their team who wasn't a firstie and that was a second year. Then the moderator who was a fellow firstie gave a small introduction about the game which they would play. She also mentioned that she would be able to use a slowing charm on someone incase they fell off their brooms. She was confused, wasn't that a second year spell? But she had no time to think about that now. The match was starting and she had to get into action right away.

✪ Everything inside you is dark and twisted ✪
"Looks like a lot of first years will be learning how to fall off their brooms today!"

Just a little over a week ago, the words of the older Slytherin might have had her going pale. There were a lot of first years in this game. For many of them, this would be their first match – unofficial as it happened to be. Statistically speaking, at least three of them might be knocked off their brooms before the match was over. Even that would have been enough to terrify her...had she not just played another match about a week before.

Unlike her debut match, Poppy didn't find herself shaking and ready to faint at what amounted to sports banter being passed around. Despite being placed in a different role this time around, the girl felt like she had a better idea of what she could expect.

Would a bludger smack her off her broom? She couldn't say, but she did know that if she spent the whole time worrying about it...then...then she would be too distracted to be any good for her team. Being back at it with both Max and Laasya was the sort of comfort she'd walked in not knowing she needed until the team made their way onto the practice pitch. It was nice having some level of familiarity with the people on your team, sure, but the girl was more pleased with the idea that she'd shared a game with at least two of them before.

Shared experiences would hopefully make for a tighter play.

Poppy mounted up with her teammates, more excited and less anxious for this game than she'd been for the other.
