Thoughts: Dark green
Dialogue: Navy
Interaction: @Paul Turner, @Ophelia Vanderbilt, @Tatiana Contraire
Paul didn't really expect that I'd have gloves. He then offered me a fist bump, which I returned. These were the pluses of being an overthinker, you'd never know what would come in handy, or when, hence it was always better to plan for the worst possible situations. I thought to the healing Potions I had carried with me in my purse.

To my mention of not liking insects, he asked, "Really? Why?" I replied, "Well, I don't really have a specific reason, they're just... weird... I guess. They're just creepy crawly and perhaps slimy little things, that make me have a phobia." Paul then started talking about various insects, that too in such detail. I internally cringed at the mention of those insects. Ohh god, why is he mentioning all those weird little creatures, it's freaking me out. I tried to maintain my composure, not showing my discomfort too much.

In my favour, I could say that I was actually just to insects, I hated all of them, no pretty privilege either. I knew people who hated only the ugly looking ones, but me, I wasn't like that. He then said, "You can't really race with cicadas, but you can measure their loudness and make it into a competition, marking their scores. Such a shame they're so hard to catch." I thought, Whatt! He wants to catch insects, whatever could the purpose of that be, I bet it's "fun". Also, to me it made no sense as to how one could race with insects. Firstly, humans were obviously faster, and secondly, even if you considered ones like dragonflies, they pretty much moved in a haphazard manner making it litterally impossible to race with. But whatever.

He further added, "Actually, me and my friends are going to collect some insects, to lure the Imps soon! Sad. Would've offered you to join us, but, if you don't like them...." I replied, "Yeah, I have a bad case of insectophobia, so... I'm good. I hope you have fun though. In my mind, Ohh, so that's why he wanted to catch insects. There was nothing sad about me not joining, in fact I was rather pleased. But aren't imps those weird tiny creatures that live in marshes, that liked to trip and push passerbyes, we'd learnt that in DADA. If one thing, they definitely should not be lured out.

While I was busy in my thoughts, Paul suddenly added, "Uh... huh... what's that thing on the ground?" He pointed towards the place where he'd levitated a branch. He ran towards it and squatted beside it. I followed him and squatted beside him. The thing that sort of looked like a ward was covered with soil, grass, and thorns. We tried to wipe it off manually, then Paul scourgified it. It had weird carvings over it, and was cracked. I ran my gloved hands over it.

He said that it looked dysfunction and asked whether I thought it was a ward. I said, "I don't know, maybe. I've never actually seen a ward before, but I guess it should look like this, just... not cracked." I thought, Hmm... I think I read about wards somewhere. Aren't they like protective barriers. They're placed all around hogwarts, and this place is in the outskirts, so it makes sense to find a ward here. But why is it cracked? Is that even possible? It definitely wouldn't break by itself, so that means someone would have to crack it. And if it's cracked, then it wouldn't work, and that means we're not protected by it at this location. Ohhh! That's bad, very bad.

Before I could mention my thoughts to him he ran off to get someone who could identify the object. While I waited, I looked back at the woods skepticallly. The unsettling feeling still hadn't left me, in fact it was getting stronger.

Image posted by the memberImage posted by the member Magical help had hardly occurred to Lottie upon arrival, though it seemed that had been the initial thought for most of her classmates. Various spells were shot off around her, mostly from her most recently discovered partner, Angel. The girl seemed notably eager to get their work done with, or at least to get something done. Lottie could appreciate the incentive.

"Nothing yet," Lottie replied tiredly to the girl's query, stepping closer towards the debris to begin her cursed chore.

She began working through the branches at her feet, tucking them below her arm to discard into a pile. The stones were a bit trickier. This was when she reluctantly pulled out her wand, mumbling, "Wingardium Leviosa." Should she succeed, she began placing the rocks into their own pile, methodically separating the litter out to clear walking paths. Mostly, she was trying to keep her head down. There was a sizable amount of students she knew wandering around, and the embarrassment of being in such a shameful position while maintaining the role of both prefect and quidditch captain was enough to leave a permanent flush on her cheeks.

There was also the looming threat of Archer's presence. It was childish, really, to try and keep the fading bruise hidden from the boy, but she was still a child. No matter how many times she reminded herself that he wouldn't care, that her Veela traits were overshadow any blemishes, her mind still fell back on fear. Her only distraction was the methodical flow of sorting the branches from stones. Branch, stone, branch, stone, branch, stone, leaf, stone. She wondered if this was what cavemen did to keep themselves entertained. The thought mildly amused her.

This small moment of peace was quickly derailed by a commotion a few trees down. From what she could hear, apparently some bloke was trying to burn down the forest. With so many wands in use, she couldn't tell exactly who it was, though she imagined it was some batty first year trying to find an easy shortcut. Still, curiosity got the better of her. She peered out through the groups occasionally while still working on her debris pile, trying to identify who was crazy enough to set the brush on aflame.

Detention. Fantastical- She had been careless in her brewing attempts of her homemade butterbeer utilizing the taste of her dormitory grown herbs and now she was sorely paying the price. She’d been naïve enough to think that perhaps the blind student act would save her from a day of cleaning the campgrounds. Normally, volunteering to help keep the school clean would be a detail to which she would be quite happy to help with. However today’s little “incident” cut into her much needed research time of a deadline that was approaching far more rapidly than she anticipated.

And now she was here. Outside in the weird June air.

Professor Lear was quite the aged fellow- if she remembered correctly. There was a distinct lack of nonsense that she knew he did not tolerate and up until now, she’d been fortunate enough to avoid the scrutinizing gaze of the most powerful wizard she knew of. Being in their very presence sent a weird feeling similar to a runny egg down the bag of her neck, causing her to shiver with an uncomfortable motion in her shoulders.

Of course- she couldn’t see the Headmaster but her ears still worked and quite well. Listening to the words spoken, words of ”You know what you did” did not make her feel more comfortable in the slightest. She would stay -because she had broken school rules and naturally consequences were to be expected- but she would not like it.

Not socializing was perfectly fine with her. She preferred to serve detention in silence anyway. Every other time she’d been in detention, because of one particular student who knew exactly who he was, she had been struck with silence in that regard as well.

So Siobhan got to work. She’d been instructed quite sternly that Toaster was not permitted to join her though she presumed the cat would have followed her anyway. He tended to do so when she mentioned her comings and going to him and wildly though there was no vocal understanding between the two, it was like he knew.

That cat.

Siobhan hummed an old Gaelige melody to herself as she worked- hoping that her good work attitude might make the time pass quickly. It seemed that the instruction of “no socializing” did not pass through the ears of the students and stay there. She could hear the mutterings and whispering of other students around her. Would she break any more rules than she had? Probably not, but the interesting thing about blindness was the inability to not listen to those around you. It came with the territory.

The heat of the June sun was unforgiveable even in the early hours of the detention. Siobhan rigtfully assumed that it would not grow any cooler as the day progressed, and she languished internally over her decision to wear her hair wild and free like a cobweb. It wasn't tangled now but the mixture of sweat, air, and earthy texture from cleaning would likely contribute to a legendary knot whenever she returned to her dorm room for the evening.

Siobhan had forgone the gloves that were provided. She never particularly cared to use them, and her skin had become so conditioned to poison ivy, oak, and sumac that should she brush against it, it would only serve as a guide for where to clear. The hours dawdled on, and the bow in her back became only the more excruciating. When she sat back on her heels to wipe the sweat off her brow and rub her eyes with her shoulder, she began to hear strange things coming from around her classmates. The sounds of someone crying out in pain had her looking up in the direction of the noise, though it wasn't someone she knew of. Other students vocalized the appearance of a strange smell, something Siobhan's nose hadn't noticed over the petrichor and typical scent of the Earth. As the buzzing of potential calamity began to rose, Siobhan was brought back into the moment by a simple

"Meow."

Her chest released a sigh and the pudgy feline that was supposed to be napping safely in Professor Mori's office as he loved to do. There was a particular window that Toaster had made his, and more often than not, Siobhan was entering the office to retrieve him from. She wasn't certain if Professor Mori liked Toaster, or even tolerated his presence, but she had not been pulled in for a chat about his behavior.

As if sensing that she was thinking of his antics, Toaster took this moment to chew on the hem of her sweater, and to nip at her fingers. Siobhan had giggled softly and made a motion to pet her cat, but he seemed to grow increasingly agitated and finally bit down sharply on the back of her hand, illiciting a loud 'hiss!' from the poor lion-cub. Toaster's normally sweet sounding meowing suddenly turned into anxious growling and within a split second a yowl.

"Toaster shhh! Shh it's okay- It's- No stop!" Siobhan whisper-pleaded with her cat as she tried to wrangle him in. But his frantic attempts at escape left Siobhan with more scratches and scrapes then even a rogue Chinese Chomping Cabbage could give her, as he broke free and sprinted off out of her hold beyond the boundaries of where she was supposed to be working.

"Toaster!" Siobhan called out still under her breath, trying not to draw the attention of the iron-clad armored Headmaster. She doubted that he was in the mood to listen to some nobody Gryffindor winge about her cat running away into the forest. And knowing how the inner workings of the forest existed? It meant Toaster could be in quite the deal of trouble. She couldn't just leave him.

But she couldn't leave detention either...

Siobhan carefully, and with a strange collection that only a blind person could have, began to crawl in a pattern that she hoped would come across as the poor-blind-girl-lost-her-way point of view and not an i'm-escaping-detention-because-my-cat-ran-away appearance. But she wasn't going to stop. Toaster could be in trouble and she needed to find her cat.

action getting gloves, trips over strange root
Andrea let out a small lighthearted chuckle st Robin's cause of detention. For someone as smart as him, it it sounded quite silly—not like hers was any better, though.

Robin had then suggested that they started cleaning and pointed to an area where they could start. She gazed at the sight; it wasn't crowded, and it looked quite easy to clean. Andrea hummed, satisfied with his choice of place.

"I'll go get some materials. You can go ahead and start gathering some leaves if you'd like." She quipped, already skipping her way towards the spare pile of materials the Headmaster had provided. She peered at the other seventy-eight students who found themselves in detention. The amount baffled her. Most were still chatting while some had already started to pluck out weeds.

Andrea grabbed two pairs of gloves, one for her and Robin. Of course they could easily just use their wands to cleanup, but Andrea much preferred to clean manually. She never really uses her wand unless it was for class. She'd been long accustomed to doing things herself at home.

On her way back to Robin, Andrea had tripped over a root connected to a dark tree near her. How odd. she thought. She swore she hadn't seen that root before. If she did, she would've remembered how large it was. Realizing she was still sitting on the ground—with no scratches, thankfully—she quickly stood up and dusted the dirt off her clothes. Thank Merlin. No one had seemed to see her humiliate herself.

Once she had finally reached her raven-haired partner, Andrea rolled up her sleeves and put on her pair of gloves. Not sure whether Robin wanted to use his wand or his hands, she placed the other pair of gloves near the boy, near enough to be noticed,

The girl deliberated whether or not to approach her peer or not, but he approached first. It was always a pleasure when the other took initiative, for being the approached was certainly far easier than being the approacher — it very well would have taken her half the detention to come to a conclusion upon the question: to approach or not to approach? Thankfully, the question did not have to be deliberated any longer. Much repetitive rumination was saved.

He introduced himself as Colin. Ah — Colin McCoire, that was it. The name rang a faint, distant bell within her troves of memory, buried deep within layers of OWL content, self-doubt, and an artist’s daydreams. Ebony was slightly taken aback by how courteous the boy was being, complete with a bow and all, considering they had never talked. Though, she supposed — although she wasn’t the brightest witch in terms of social norms — that formalities were reserved for first meetings.

"Say, this isn't about that crazy occult stunt of yers, is it? I saw the flyers!”

Oh, so the publicity had taken effect; the “stunt” had indeed taken off as she had intended it to, and perhaps the absurdity of it all would garner more ridicule and attention. “You guessed it, it indeed was that crazy stunt. Never thought punishment would amount to… this, though,” she uttered, gesturing distastefully at the scattered debris and casually tossed cleaning tools that she had yet to make contact with. She supposed that it was time to start soon considering they were under the headmaster’s watchful eye, albeit tinted by the admittedly stylish sunglasses.

“Broom racing in the Astronomy Tower sounds fun,” she grinned, an envisagement of brooms upturning the various cushions and textbooks within the domed tower conjuring. As a broom enjoyer — though she had yet to try broom racing — she could only imagine the joy in whizzing around those telescopes and delicate instruments. It certainly was a precariously high-stakes obstacle track, for shattering a single shard of glass present in that tower was setting oneself up for punishment even worse than this. But that only added to the thrill, she could presume. Perhaps she should give it a whir some time. It had been a while since she had held such enthusiasm for something new; perhaps Colin’s sprightliness (and somewhat excessive expressiveness that she somehow didn’t not appreciate) had had an effect on her already, or perhaps it was due to the fact that broom racing was, well, a broom sport. The thought of flying, freed and untethered, was always an appealing one. Wait — it was Professor McCoire, he had said, who had handed him this detention? Colin McCoire? Were they related? Upon closer inspection, the brunette could detect similarity in her peer’s visage to that of the Astronomy Professor. She had failed to take note of it previously, but now before her, it was clear as day.

"Wanna enjoy the misery with me?"

“Gladly,” Ebony replied, then adding dryly, “it will certainly be a joyful blast clearing all this debris.”

An unprecedented whisper of suspicion from the Slytherin boy placed her senses on edge. Colin had ostensibly heard something; sinister, if he hadn’t been hallucinating it. Ebony paused to listen, but she struggled to discern anything out of the ordinary from the hullabaloo of overactive teenagers. “I really can't hear anything unusual,” she whispered back. He either had to have a hypersensitive sense of hearing, or simply drew the supposed noise he had heard from an extensive imagination and deluded auditory sense. She failed to see how any normal wizard would be able to pick up a single sound above the senseless chatterings of more than seventy students amalgamated with the screams of a particularly gargantuan boy (@Remy Break) who was currently dangling by the ankles. Colin seemed to set the matter aside, and so she followed suit, attempting to work towards the task that the old man had assigned to them for the day. Until sunset.

The only eldritch element — relative to the forbidden forest, which was in itself strange enough — was the overwhelming scent of charred forest. Placed against the odor of wet earth, the sharp, singed scent only stood to be more distinguishable. There appeared to be some idiotic imbecile (@Archer Duncan) who had cast incendio upon the coating of debris scattered on the ground. The bright inferno danced in the distance, threatening to consume the readily available tinder that so desired to be devoured. Though the particular method adopted was rather asinine, the Ravenclaw accepted the efficiency of the spellcasting. Surely there had to be a better way of achieving the task — and perhaps completing it before sunset for an earlier dismissal — rather than resorting to manual labour. Though the headmaster evidently revelled in watching students being subjected to labour that was in imitation to torture, he had never explicitly stated that spellcasting wasn’t allowed — and somebody had clearly already done it. Might as well streamline the tedious process. “Do you reckon we should cast spells to clear this?” she asked Colin.

Without waiting for confirmation from her partner, however, Ebony proceeded to draw her wand and point it towards the floor. Flipendo,” she enunciated, hoping it would push the debris aside for easy operation. It was a simple spell, but a useful one.

COSTANZA JEWELWEED
OPEN FOR INTERACTIONS
@kaito foxglove | @pyxis hellebore | @jessamine hemlock

paragon of health is in effect for kaito foxglove and jessamine hemlock
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
When her biological father first sat her down to help her come to terms with being a wizard, he started by telling Costanza that she wasn't exactly like him. She wasn't like most wizards.

At the time, she didn't really process what it meant to be a seer. Her thoughts were occupied by the devastation of her family falling apart. It was a jagged wound in her heart caused by the two people sitting across from her, telling her that she would need to drop out of her school, leave her friends behind, and attend some boarding academy all the way in Scotland. Forgive her for not internalising what the devil man was explaining to her.

It was only when she arrived at Hogwarts and heard chatter of the divining arts and the creatures that supposedly saw the future that she started paying attention. Costanza didn't fancy having conversations about the topic. She didn't fancy doing anything except wallowing in self-pity. Silent observation was her trademark but even still, there was nothing to learn with her limited form of networking.

The library was her best friend during this time and she spent what felt like a week straight researching seers and how being one would affect her. Armed with that knowledge, Costanza felt prepared for the first time since learning about her magical heritage. As her first three years of Hogwarts flew by, she began to feel as if the brief effort she exerted was all for nothing. Of course, there were times when her intuition won out, helping her avoid issues that would have been total inconveniences. But things like that had always happened to her, all her life. Nothing was different. Maybe Malachi was wrong.

He wasn't.

When Jessamine disturbed the peace she'd created for herself by not approaching Pyxis and Kaito, Costanza turned sharply. She thought of words to tell the Ravenclaw off, tired of being bothered about the subject. But instead of seeing the blonde head of her acquaintance or the overgrown section of the grounds, she was back at Hogwarts.

Some students were arguing in front of her, but it seemed inconsequential. Like it was just a part of school life. Happy school life. Something gripped her by the scruff, taking her through the corridors. Students were having fun. The Great Lake was calm. Laughter over lunch. It was perfect. She would have reached out if she could, wanting to be a part of it all. Wanting to not be alone.

But the presence of the voice stopped her. It was a warning. Warning her about something. The timbre grated on her senses. She wanted it to stop. It didn't. She blinked and there were no students anymore. Old women over a fire, brewing a potion. Mushrooms with bright red, bulbous growths. Two students, drinking the same potion, was it? Black veins grew up the sides of their face. She was sick. A dragon. She was terrified.

We have to fight.

Vertigo hit Costanza like a truck. The mist subsided, replaced by Jessamine's face from her place on the ground. The Ravenclaw's face was upright. Then it wasn't, rotating leftwards as Costanza lurched. She caught herself at the last moment, managing to not tumble to the dirt. But her world was still spinning.

"What the fuck." A sickly, nauseating feeling radiated from her lower stomach. She was prepared for the possbility of Malachi being right. But she imagined visions far less concerning.

When Costanza finally came to, it wasn't Jessamine she sought, who had quickly become the only person she shared words with everyday. It wasn't Kaito, whose kindness on the night of the ball was something she would never forget.

It was Pyxis. Pyxis flipping Hellbore. What was he even doing squatting like that?

Oh shit.

"Pyxis," she called, "Stop. Stop touching that. What the hell is it?" Costanza felt like she was back in that vision again, watching the sores on the white mushrooms bloom. The warning from the disembodied voice echoed in her mind. It was the exact same. It was the exact same thing, waiting for them beneath the trees. "The headmaster didn't mention clearing any hellspawn mushrooms away." She was by Pyxis's side now, stooping down with him, still off-center, still nauseous. "Leave it alone. Please."

Nabi did not care if the old gargoyle heard her mention their night stroll into the forest; the man did not appear to care if even a dementor sucked the soul of one of his inmates. Shrugging slightly as she subconsciously rubbed her forehead, remembering when Winnie had tried to spare her from seeing the ghastly sight of a half-naked moron.

"New experiences that I do hope meant no smacking of people, Winnie..." When had she begun to be so informal with the lady?

About to comment, she would hum curtly as Winnie agreed with Matthew and said with a faint hint of an amused tease, "how... lambish of you, to be herded away like the rest for slaughter." Where was the girl who snapped bones like rotted twigs? The boy who held another at a wand point? Or was that simply the affect Gideon has on others? She'd tilt her head before shifting her gaze to the sound of another person moving toward them, recognizing her as Winnie's maid of honor.

"Miss Decipio..." Her gray eyes would return to Winnie with a slight raise, watching the lady Athanatos quickly explain her presence in the prison yard. Deciding to throw a stick into the pile, she would add calmly, "The young Aamon had decided to test his luck with my patience; Winnie was just being... kind." She would shrug once more, eyes glancing toward the castle as she muttered under her breath, "But I am not..." the corner of her mouth tugged faintly before looking back when she heard Winnie shriek, Bloody hell... "so loud..." What is she, a child? Technically, Nabi had not seen the other boy trailing behind Miss Decipio.

He was not screaming like a tortured animal... yet.

"I did not know you had a sister, Winnie" Her attention momentarily returned toward Miss Decipio, her gaze showing a mild interest at the new information. Before pointing at Marshal and speaking to Evelynn, "You seem to have a dementor behind you, Miss Decipio..."

Calming Presence is in affect for Nabi Park and removed for Winnie Athanatos
It was true that Matthew had been caught, even more so that he was caught inebriated, but even the temptations of alcohol couldn't disguise the revelations he had discovered. In progress for his fathers survival he had been subject to more warnings than blessings, but he had also uncovered a very poignant clue, one that lived and breathed on his very doorstep. One whom he knew the taste of, and yet he was compelled not to ask. For if someone had warned to not give the Athanatos' information, it had undoubtedly been for good reason.

Still Matthew couldn't help but wonder if the burden of his deal, might be the solution to his problems. For if the Athanatos brood were so linked to memory magic, perhaps he had been searching pointlessly, rather than asking for their aid. Yet that aid never came without a price, but with what he had already given, no price seemed unworthy. So while he had been caught, Matthew hid beneath his shirt the book that held such intrigue, knowing he wouldn't share it with them, but hoping it might one day become a card up his sleeve.

While in his world of thought, and with the constant nagging that the forest behind him wished to consume, he became unaware of his compatriots until a certain pink pillock slapped him in the face with her dead ends. It had certainly been deserved for his past antics but given her newfound title of Athanatos he was sure she had no right to judge. After all it was clear that no person escaped that family without losing a part of themselves, the only question was, what part had Winnie lost.

This hostility only proved her indoctrination. The evil had already seeped into her veins and even if she didn't know it fully, she was part of that vile group. So he lost interest, for Matthew had already made a deal with devils and he was unwilling to make another. Nabi continued to speak away but in her familiarity it became clear that she had allied herself with those devils far more than he. While he had to play the part, while he had to admire the sociopathic heir, there was always a part of his that distanced himself. Unlike them, he was aware of the treacherous path he took, but still he kept his guard.

Instead he focused on the hunger he could feel looming since the moment he stepped near, Matthew wondered what it would be like to be consumed. After all, he had already made one deathly deal. Often times he wondered if it would be better to just submit to the forest and suffer the consequences. For then again, it seemed unlikely at best and impossible at worst that he would ever truly break Gideon Athanatos, so maybe submission was the best outcome.

In his thoughts he found himself drifting, but unaware was he that his physical self was doing much the same. Pulling him away from the group and towards the forest, giving in to the fate he felt he deseved.

@Colin McCoire| MENTIONING
With a pair of those gloves on her hands, Jun scrunched her nose slightly and wondered whether cleaning them off beforehand would have been a better idea than just using them. To not waste anymore time, Jun pulled them off again and stuffed them into one of her back pockets before wiping her hands off on her jeans. They’d do what they’d need to do, which was protect her small hands from cuts and whatever magical plants or non magical plants might be growing around the grounds.

Her gaze traveled through the crowds slowly, looking for a specific person that she would have at least known, when the Headmasters voice broke through to her. Headmaster Lear had just told someone - some girl Jun had no recognition of - to partner up with the Ravenclaw herself and another girl.

A subtle hint of disapproval flickered across Jun’s features as she glanced at the two students that she was supposed to partner up with, supposedly first years. One was tall with bright green eyes and long brown hair, while the other had similarly long brown hair and blue eyes. Either looked innocent enough that the second year would not have necessarily thought they deserved to be here, though then again; anyone could cause trouble. There was no reason to be unkind to them and as neither had said anything just yet, Jun cleared her throat and decided she’d take the initiative.

I‘d suggest starting over there,“ she gestured at an overgrown space off to one side of the chaos already beginning around them. „Best to keep away from the larger groups at events like this..“ She added in a mumble. Not that Jun did not believe in safety in numbers, but rather that with this many Students around, something always went wrong.

Without waiting to see whether her two Detention partners would follow, Jun made her way to where she had previously pointed, lips pressed together and momentarily wondering whether she really wanted to start working with those gloves on. She was leaning toward no. Instead, Jun pulled her wand from the inside pocket of her Jacket and pointed it at an overgrown area. There were branches growing over crumbled stones.

Diffindo“ she spoke, moving her wand in the correct movement and waiting for its effect.

At some point during her third year at Hogwarts, Jessamine found that her favorite parts of the day involved Costanza. Whether it was waggling her fingers to say hi at breakfast or chatting up a storm while Costanza stayed silent during group projects, she ended up being the face that Jessamine saw most these days. If the birdie was being honest, she wasn't the nicest to Costanza. Her specialty was snide comments and poking fun, not heartfelt conversations about why they both were the way they were. Still, Costanza was one of the few who hadn't run Jessamine off yet, and the birdie enjoyed that. So it was quite disappointing when the badger in question refused to acknowledge her taunts.

"Helloooo?" Jessamine drew out the word loudly, waving and snapping at Costanza's face with her right hand. Her left had absent-mindedly drifted down to the back of her leg, beginning a gentle itch that would soon spiral out of control. Before that happened, Jessamine continued to try getting Costanza's attention and received no response. She rocked up from her sitting position to kneel, getting a bit closer to be able to note that Costanza wasn't just ignoring her. The badger was staring off into nothing, lost in the space of her own thoughts it looked like. That was how Jessamine usually found her before they started their uneasy routine. But now Costanza was gone even after noticing her. That was new.

"Ow!" Jessamine hissed. She pulled her fingers away, feeling as if she had broken skin by itching too hard, even through her long, linen pants. But the irritation still continued, evolving from a simple itch to a fire running up and down her legs. Initially sneaky, using the cover of the large crowd of students to hide from the headmaster so that she would not have to do any work, Jessamine shot straight upwards to standing, no longer being discrete. She pulled the waistband of her pants away from her skin, looking down into the dark tunnels as if it would help her see if anything was wrong with her skin. No, that wouldn't help. Ripping her pants off would, but there were certain grounds that Jessamine was not interested in getting busted for.

"There's something in the grass, I think," she told Costanza, before shifting focus from her legs to her acquaintance. Oh, the bagder was gone. She was arguing about some useless thing with Pyxis, but Jessamine couldn't focus. Not when she wanted to drag her nails deep across her skin to feel some relief. She reached down to roll up the opening at her left ankle, pulling it high enough to get a good look at her leg, lifting it every which way to spot any redness or ants or animals or anything that was causing the firey itch.
