Recurving
Benji flinched at the noise. He hadn't seen Jason attempt to pull the arrow out of the tree, but he heard the clean snap, and there weren't many other options for what it could be. He gently laid the bow on the dirt, right side up, before ambling his way over to the tree. He placed a hand around the arrow and pulled the nub out of the tree, wiping the tip on the edge of his shorts, ignoring the outburst of the kid. It took effort to figure out what the kid was saying, and Benji wasn't going to bother putting effort in if Jason wasn't going to bother speaking kindly. He tilted his head and waited.
Once Jason had thrown his half of the arrow on the ground, Benji, frowning slightly, leaned down to pick it up, similarly wiping it on his shorts. It was quite impressive, really, that the kid had managed to snap the arrow cleanly in half. Benji hadn't broken an arrow since he had earned his way to the aluminum ones. He examined the two ends of the broken shaft, placing them side by side to see if they had split cleanly and would, therefore, be weldable back. They were not. The end had bent, whether from the initial snap or the throw to the ground.
"Your finger is happy now, no?" He tilted his head toward Jason, though he kept his gaze on the arrow. He hadn't missed the sudden switch from pure pain to neutrality in Jason's reaction to his finger burns. After another moment, he offered both ends to Jason. "Now you have your broken first arrow. You are a archer."
