She had been walking aimlessly after classes for a while, and somehow managed to stray outside the sounds of the castle and into a world where the open air and quiet filled the gap. It happened from time to time. Feet moving in a direction that her mind hadn't yet decided to go. She had stopped struggling against this long ago. Experience had taught her that where ever she was headed, it was somewhere she needed to be. She walked slowly around the courtyard, tracing the edge of the fountain with one absent finger as she walked past it, her school bag slung loosely over her shoulder. The air wrapped around her easily enough, filled with the far away sound of water on the lake and the faint echo of laughter from beyond the covered bridge. She glanced upwards briefly, catching herself in the pale afternoon light, dark eyes taking in the area easily and confidently. She was in the middle of thinking about nothing when she saw him.
He was standing against the ledge of the fountain as if he belonged there, having read from the same spot all his life; book in one hand, collar untucked, completely at peace with the world. Bleached blond hair, which sat well on his light colored skin was somewhat messy due to lack of proper care and was definitely DIY work. Freckles dotted his nose and cheeks, while his hazel brown eyes lazily shifted their gaze through the pages.
Danielle paused in her stride. After that, she began to walk, now towards him, until she reached a point where she could comfortably stand and she did with a smile playing about her lips.
"Really?" she spoke softly, as if the conversation flowed easily, "For someone who is sitting alone in an empty courtyard, you do look very peaceful with that." Dark brown eyes stared into his without any sense of unease while raising a single eyebrow slightly in an almost teasing manner.
"Angeles," Danielle Kim Angeles was introduced to him with a certain level of confidence, "Before you say anything, yes, I did come here on purpose." A vicious smile played about her lips.

Ace had been reading in the courtyard for some time now, leaned against the cool stones that built the fountain in the courtyard. Some random murder mystery book he found in the library. He had read hundreds of its kind; the killer was always some edgy emo guy who was "two steps ahead" of the protagonist. Or it was the "timid, unsuspecting" character. Typical. Cliche. Boring.
Ace didn't care though, he wasn't really there to read. As much as he loved the warmth of the castle and all his friends and all the social events, he needed a moment to feel the sun and unwind. Not in the Gryffindor common room or dorms, but somewhere where he could feel the wind against his cheeks, and the sun warm him. Classes had been stressing him out recently, and finding peace out in the courtyard felt wonderful.
Ace hardly noticed a girl walking towards him until she was right next to him, introducing herself. Ace looked up with a smile and set down his book. Standing up, he shook her hand "Hey, I'm Ace. Ace Powell. Nice to meet you, Danielle." He observed her a little more closely. She had dark hair which cascaded down her shoulders. she had the biggest brown eyes Ace had ever seen and a flashing white smile. He smiled warmly as he leaned against the fountain again "What class did you just get out of? My last class was Magical History, that class is a bore" Did he have the energy for a proper conversation? Maybe not, but he loved talking to people and this girl seemed cool to talk to.
