Meeting with a gentleman
Ira did not want to do so many homeworks. But she had no other choice, she too wanted to earn points for her house and get as much spells and potions possible for her academic knowledge. Deep down she wished her house could overthrow the Ravenclaws in academic brilliance but she wouldn't be the one taking the initiative.
She carelessly (yes you read that right) collected her transfiguration books, Quills, ink bottles and parchment papers to complete her homework.
"Oh shoot!" she exclaimed and hurried at the Great hall. She was supposed to meet Alex sharp at 3pm and it was 3:30 already. She took a nap and forgot to wake up on time. She hurriedly put on a short kurti and ruffled her hair to keep them in place and carried a clip attached to her kurti collar.
The great hall had quite a lot of kids from all sorts of houses. The hall was filled with chattering, laughter and enthusiasm. The floating candles, house banners and respective students at their house tables were all gathered together to have fun time with each other.
And there was Alex, his usually serious face was quite unreadable to Ira. She liked this because it made him look mysterious and calm. Ira was sure he will be angry. I mean who won't be if you are 30 minutes late? Plus she didnt tell him anything either beforehand that she might be late because she was taking a nap. All she could think about was the massive turkey in the lunch and rice. She could care less about homework.
She put her books with a thud on top of where Alex had put his and just threw the Quills at the table, the ink bottle merely survived her chaos by an inch from falling off the table. If the professors ever wonder as to why her parchment papers in which she submits her homeworks are ink stained, this might be the reason.
"Hey! Alex! Haha! sorry I was a little bit late. Did you have to wait for a long time?" she ran up to him and sat beside. The level of nonchalant attitude from Ira and confidence could put you in doubt as to who was the real culprit. She beamed so innocently at him as if it was merely 5 minutes.

The first week of living in a new place, new environment isn't all that bad. Except, he doesn't like the dungeon as much as he thought he would. It must be really great to see the sky and stars every night instead of murky, underwater creatures swimming around in the common room. What's done is done, he couldn't really brag about it and change his house if he wanted to. His dormmate is still, well, like that. Not a great week to make friends in there he suppose. Or his social skills is fantastically bad.
Speaking of social skills, Ira, who had promised to come meet him for lunch is still nowhere to be seen. It's been thirty minutes. 'What is she doing, Merlin.' he thinks to himself as he hold his silver spoon in one hand and a book he read for fun in another.
Who read for fun in lunch? Yeah him. He looks like a total nerdy loner when sitting alone. He mostly ignore the not-so-subtle glances darted his way when he's just minding his own business.
Just as he's chewing the food in his mouth, Alex hear the familiar voice. 'Finally.' he thinks to himself as Ira hurried herself and settles beside him on the long table. "Care to explain? or should i assume that the stairs brought you elsewhere in your dream?" Alex ask, flatly before he place the book in his hand on the table with a soft thud and close it. "No, not for long." He added, refilling his plate after he finishes the first batch.
"Honestly, If you've came later i'd send a search party." He mutter, enough for Ira to hear him before he feed himself, chewing while his eyes narrow towards Ira.
" The lesson of history is that no one learns. "

"Wait you are having your lunch NOW?!" she asked in disbelief, "I had mine ages ago! I was taking a nap and-" she stopped midway. She didnt mean to tell him the truth. She was just thinking of an excuse but the truth slipped out almost involuntarily. She loves food so ofcourse she will be the first one to be present when they announce its time for lunch.Ira Ray______________________________________

"I mean-" she hesitated and took a sip from the nearest glass of water "Haha who studies while you are eating? Wait... dont tell me you have already completed the homework! Alex! This is betrayal!" she said trying to change the subject.
She grabbed a bun from his side and said, munching on it "Did you know I can transform a teapot into a cat already? Heh! I have learned the art of transfiguration. You can very well call me a prodigy little boy! What do you know? You are still just a child, 5 months younger makes lots of difference. I am sure its hard for you guys. You know the professor has already started to favor me! I cant wait to be the hero of my class!"
She wanted to flail her hair at him so badly but she didnt knowing he was eating at the moment.
She was boasting as if she had mastered her NEWTS in Transfiguration. Ira couldnt care less about homeworks and classworks. She was just trying to deviate Alex from getting angry. She didnt care most definitely, she will just make a bouquet or send him chocolates and thousands of letters if he were to stay angry on her.
Ira grabbed another bun from his basket and putting it in her mouth while reaching out for her textbook. She let out a grunt and tried to figure out the anomaly in front of her aka questionnaire.

It's really easy to bait Ira into telling him the truth. He had tried this before and she only proves him right everytime. Alex's face soften at her answer. At least she's doing alright and not getting chased for getting into trouble. "A nap. Right." He mutter, take another bite of his bun. "What could you possibly do at this time? Homework?" He raise a brow at her.
Another question dart his way. "Of course i've finished mine." He say as if it's the most obvious fact in the world.
Let's be real, Alex had always tries to finish most of his homework on the same day he got it just to distract himself and get more points for his house. It's always the same depressing cycle he had gotten used to. He inherited the habit from both of his passionate parents. Even the both of them is painfully aware of the fact and try to reassure Alex to take a break for awhile and Alex predictably refuses everytime.
As usual, Alex listens to Ira talking but the longer she speak the more weirder it gets. Alex found himself tilting his head to the side, thinking. "What?" Tone still flat as ever but he looks confused as hell.
"How did-" He breath, "You can't just transfigure a teapot into a cat? How did you even do that?" Alex ask in disbelief, his brows furrowed in confusion.
" The lesson of history is that no one learns. "

As expected from the legendary Alex Kavanagh, he had in fact done his homework. Good for Ira now she can just ask him the answers and write it down, well thats what she thought.Ira Ray______________________________________

To Ira's great pleasure Alex took the bait. It was so amusing to see him get weirded out by her little shenanigans.
"Apparently its an advanced spell. Only for advanced students. You know Alex its not for kids. Its for geniuses like me." she said chewing her bun. Since when did Ira became a genius? Well, the answer is pretty clear, its from this moment. For how long, is questionable.
"Of course the professor wont tell you if you wanted to ask them. Its a standard spell dude. Mind you, he told ME especially because I have a perfect score!" she says as the homework questionnaire remained empty in front of her.
"The professor even said that I can keep the cat but you know me. I am very empathetic. I said its wrong to keep a wild cat as pet, so I let it go. Maybe you can catch him if you look closely in the grounds."
She just wanted to tease Alex a little more as to see his reactions and frustrate him and then laugh at his face. She just felt it was crazy fun to his bewildered face that normal people might say, he is bewildered? But Ira is not normal. She could always tell what Alex was feeling by how he acted and changed his tone. As of now, she was waiting to slip some reaction out of him and catch him red handed.

He couldn't bear another word that's coming out of her mouth.
Alex feels like Ira just smacked him in the head with a plastic hammer when she said she could turn a teapot into a freaking cat. What kind of nonsense is this?! He isn't particularly a prodigy in this subject but he's sure enough to tell that there's no way Ira could learn that fast. "Are you sure you're the one who transformed it?" he asks.
Wait, what?
Huh?
He slowly turns to Ira, he drop his bun on the plate, blinking in confusion, "For kids? What the freak does that mean?" Alex asks again, almost frowning at Ira's statement. "Are you saying that I'm a ki- wait, the professor hasn't grade my homework yet, how do you get yours first?" he says almost offended by the fact that Ira got hers graded while he hasn't.
At the mention of cat, his eyes shines like kid in a candy store, "You could at least show me the cat.. you're unbelievable." He huff out while frowning as he eats his bun.
"How could ye even do that? It just doesn't make sense. I can't even do it just yet." he asks, voice thick with his original accent that it's a miracle if Ira understands a word.
Alex's accents often slips out whenever he's pissed off and he doesn't even realised it until someone points it out.

Ira was secretly grinning at Alex's furious face. She could tell he was super pissed knowing she was so advanced than him. I mean its super unlikely. If it were someone else perhaps, Alex wouldn't mind but its Ira! The girl who opens the textbook only when she realises she will get a Troll otherwise. Ira was imagining some red fumes coming out of Alex's ears and her toying with the poor boy's psyche.Ira Ray______________________________________

She said clearing her throat, "Ofc its me! Who else is here? And did you not know Mr. Dummy that kids dont learn advanced spells! No dont even ask me! I wont tell you." she was genuinely enjoying the attention. Its as if he was her personal entertainment. If Ira had a knack for anything its playing with Alex's sanity.
"Seriously? You think you will only know such precious and honorable spells by doing homeworks? Thats why my boy you need to grow up. He taught me personally! I am such a promised student after all." she said taking a bite from his dessert that laid untouched in front of him.
"Show you the cat? Why, look for it. I told you its in the grounds..." she said shrugging her shoulders. I mean imagine, Alex frantically looking for an imaginary cat a midst of the grounds while Ira sit back from a corner and watch the scene with great amusement.
"Ooooh" she remarked as Alex began to speak in his weird heavy accent. She could tell he was pissed. She knows it very well that his accent slips out when he is madly annoyed. Of course it was a win for Ira.
"Aww my wittle baby Allie is jealous?" she teased in a baby tone to piss him off even more.

At this point, Alex start to question his method of studying with his intense gaze towards Ira. He's completely oblivious to the fact that Ira had succeeded on pissing him off. This can't be. If Ira can do it, so does he! Right?
He were furious to the point that he barely hears whatever nonsense that was coming out of her mouth. "-honorable spells by doing homeworks? That's why my boy you need to grow up. He taught me personally! I am such a promised student after all." He is totally dumbfounded. 'Taught her personally. How did she convinced the professor to do that?' Alex thinks to himself as he stares intensely at Ira.
"When did this personal lessons of yours begin? And how come i didn't know of it?" he asks, more suspiciously. He couldn't wrap his head around the idea of her completing a Transfiguration demonstration when she barely paying any attention in class. Well, whenever they're together in class of course.
"Well, yeah the cat." he raises a brow at her answer. "For goodness sake. What colour is it?" he looks down at his plate, slowly, as if processing the fact that Ira is one step ahead of him. Suspiciously, at that.
Alex narrow his eyes at her teasing tone, finishing his last piece of bun in frustration. "I am not jealous. You're being ridiculous." Alex mutters, trying and failing to mask his 'emotions' behind his stone-y face.
" The lesson of history is that no one learns. "

"What are you, my guardian? You silly goose of course you wouldn't know. The professor only told me today! And can you imagine the excitement I had when I succeeded? Oh my gosh it yielded my house so many points!" she said side eyeing him from time to time and giggling silently to herself.Ira Ray______________________________________

"Its an orange tabby cat. He is sort of a fool, he keeps on slipping out of hands if you dont grip him well" she remarked confidently as if the tabby cat she was talking about had any real existance. With imagination and detailed bluffing and such cunning intelligence, she could easily ace an O in her exams but she won't. She is only one step away from a T.
The thought of Alex having to go through all this fuss because of her while she munches on his dessert that he has forgotten about apparently, made Ira's success double its worth.
She was having the time of her life and couldnt wait to try the same method on her brother when she visits home. Probably her brother will have the same reaction considering how big of an animal lover he is. He might even ask Ira to turn all the teapots at home into cats.
"Aw dont lie Alex! It's written all over your face" she makes a circling gesture with her finger over his face, "See you are fuming! You cant even look directly to my eyes while you speak! Oh my god, I might as well get this framed! Its the most emotions you have shown!" she says enthusiastically while her ink topples over being hit by her elbow and the ink spread throughout her parchment paper where her homework was supposed to be.

As oblivious as he is, he still believes that Ira succeeded in transfiguring a darn cat. If only he knew. "What are you, my guardian? You silly goose, of course you wouldn't know. The professor only told me today! - " said Ira, with her usual enthusiastic tone of voice. Alex had once tried to transfigure his own quill into an owl, though he hadn't quite succeeded in it.
Is he a fool? How could he be falling behind when all he ever wants to do is to be the best out of the best? He must find out how he could - What exactly is he going to do?
"I don't understand," Alex mutters while his finger fidgets around the book spine; his curiosity definitely spiked up, as he is being absolutely serious about it. "I tried it once, but it didn't work." he added, mostly to himself.
Alex wouldn't even wish to see his face at the moment, as he were reacting pretty badly to this whole information. Again, how could he not? "...Oh my god, I might as well get this framed! It's the most emotions you have shown!" said Ira, with her enthusiastically teasing tone. "Stop it, ye bleeding eejit.." Alex sighs to himself before he turns to Ira once again. "You're not lying, aren't ye?" he narrows his eyes skeptically as he said that.
" The lesson of history is that no one learns. "
