Haunted memories and drawings

Kaya was sitting in the room. There was nothing specific she wanted to do and she felt bored. This year was going with less adventures, but also with less dangers. Was she happy about it? She didn't know.
She sighed. Kaya didn't hear from Yasha for a long time, which reminded her of the one who was before him. Perhaps, she wasn't lucky enough to have a friend who could be something more in the future. She took her notebook and looked at the drawings she drew. Little stories, like memories, of the times she spent with him. It was now in the past and it pained her. She was starting to trust and to care more.
Another story of drawings started and she looked around to see if Amber was somewhere here. Their adventure. The one that was so close to the unexpected end but luckily it ended relatively well. She wished to repeat something similar. However, she'd prefer for them to not get so close to the most dangerous moment in their lives. She couldn't handle to look at Amber lying on the ground again, thinking to give up.
The days before that were already not that peaceful. Her bestie's sleepwalking made Kaya quite worried. The nightmares after that day were following her a little. She was more focused on Amber than herself and perhaps this was helping her to get rid of the nightmares.
The slight movement she thought she could see caught her attention and made her stop her thoughts. Looking around again she noticed Amber. What was she doing? Curiosity took over her and Kaya put her notebook aside and stood up to make her way to her bestie.

Amber sat huddled beside her bed, head buried in her sketchbook, completely detached from everything that was happening around her. All her thoughts, her energy was being poured into a single paper, trying to capture every little detail. She couldn't forget. She couldn't.
The pounding in her head, forced her to go on no matter how much her hand cramped. Light sketch marks slowly formed the picture in her head. Dark, creepy, twisted; the monster haunting her in her dreams. No they couldn't even be called dreams. They were nightmares through and through. Amber couldn't recall the last time she'd even slept properly.
The only moment of peace she got was attempting to capture the perfect detail from her nightmares on the paper. Beautiful sketches of great detail of the ugly dreams she had. She was glad no one else could see inside of her head or her sketchbook. They would be disturbed for sure. Might even recommend her one of those muggle things called therapists. She shuddered at the thought.
What she was experiencing was not something that could be talked about. She could barely process the existence of these creatures and that they were haunting her. These creatures that she desperately wanted to kill. She would go back in that forest and kill them if she could. She wasn't strong enough yet. Not smart enough. Not fast enough. Her last near encounter with death, had knocked enough sense into her to not go back into that forest. For now.
That was why she sketched. Why she painted. Why she drew. It was the only way that she could process her nightmares. Maybe she could decode something from this never ending pain. And if she could, she would be prepared enough to go back and get rid of those things.
Then all her problems would be solved. No nightmares. No visions. She could go back to perfect, beautiful little Amber. The girl who loved adventures. Who loved hanging out with friends. Who loved her bestie Kaya.
Amber glanced across the room to Kaya. She couldn't ever say it out loud but she missed her. But it had been Amber's fault that she had pushed Kaya away. There hadn't been any choice. The further Kaya stayed away from the danger the better. She couldn't risk getting her killed. She would never forgive herself. No that was why she was doing this. Then everything could go back to normal. She just had to decode the monsters, kill them, then get rid of those haunted memories and burn these ugly drawings. And go back to living her life the way she should be. It sounded simpler in her mind, but it would prove to be so much harder than she expected.

Kaya didn't like the distance between her and Amber. But right now she was busy with her own sketches. Taking her unfinished forest drawing with the fire and that monster instead of the notebook, she moved closer to where Amber was. She didn't intend to look at what her bestie was drawing, nor she wanted to share her own work. However, as she was turning back to go out in an attempt to distract herself, her sketchbook fell near Amber, open on her sketch. As she was going down to take it, she accidentally glanced at Amber's sketch.
So they are haunting you too. She spoke softly and quietly. Here, you can look at my sketches. They are all about the same. She offered Amber to look at her sketchbook. Amber, I want to return and kill it. But I am not ready yet. I don't know enough attacking spells or most importantly defensive spells. And I totally don't want to lose you. So if you decide to go there, even if you decide to do it without me. Could you please give me some time to be more prepared so if it's too dangerous, I could come to help?
The tiredness from the nightmares, care and a simple request is all she asked quietly, as if speaking louder would hurt more. With that she moved back to her bed. There was no intention to even attempt to stop Amber if she decides to return to the forest. Kaya only wanted to be more prepared, so her bestie could have one person she could rely on. Someone who could come running and giving them a better chance to kill that thing.
