First Step of the Journey
1 September 2025
Hogwarts Express. Liyyu stared at the large train standing right in front of her. All around the platform, people were rushing back and forth, hugging each other and saying their last goodbyes. Liyyu turned to her parents, hugging her mom and dad tightly one last time, and then she finally stepped onto the train.
Once inside, she dragged her heavy trunk down the long corridor, looking into one compartment after another as she walked. Most of them were already occupied by four to six kids who were chatting. Just as the train’s whistle blew loudly, echoing through the busy station, Liyyu finally found an empty compartment at the end of the hallway. She slid the door open, put her trunk down, and took a seat near the window.
Looking out, Liyyu watched the crowded platform. She scanned the people outside until her eyes finally locked onto her parents. Liyyu leaned forward, pressing her hands and face against the window glass. She waved at them, trying to catch their attention. Her mom and dad quickly waved back, and she could see her mom's eyes welling up with tears.
As the train slowly began to move, Liyyu sat back in her seat. She stared at the empty space in front of her, wondering quietly what awaited her far away there.
