The array of reactions in the room was truly stunning. The uncooperative professor revealed that he had a voodoo doll - perhaps one of a student. One of the older professors showed that he had one as well. Was there always such an abundance of occult objects in this school? Rosalind had never been so disappointed to have not seen something coming. It was utter chaos. If there were anybody listening in on them, they would have to be laughing by now. It was a pen of headless chickens - save for one. The one in the red cloak shouted something - speaking Hebrew, oddly enough. The professors of Hogwarts had become quite a diverse cast in the 21st century. She was thankful for it. It was a blessing to be able to teach here as a foreign graduate. At least, she had thought so up until about an hour ago.
The one who had called the meeting was the first out. A wise choice, judging by the rapid decline in information and planning and an equal uptick in the amount of panic. Rosalind could feel her heart beating fast. These kids deserved better than this.
Silver-haired Professor Jensen started to speak again, reining in Rosalind's runaway heartbeat. She made sense; In fact, she was one of the few things that did in this damned school. The Divination professor slipped her cards back into her pocket, no longer needing a crutch to maintain her sanity. Professor Jensen had brought enough to share.
She felt her heart sink as the de facto leader of the school went down each professor's list of duties. Skilled herbalists and potion-makers worked on the cure. Curse-breakers worked on fixing the curses. Expert spellcasters strengthened the school's defenses. But what could a Seer do to that which has already come to pass? There was nothing left to warn of, and no future to be changed - they were living it as it came, and it looked like it was getting worse. Rosalind squeezed her hands into fists and then wiggled her restless fingers as her hands relaxed. She needed a cup of tea and a plan.
"Roger that," Rosalind said, giving an affirmative nod to the silver-haired professor as she instructed Rosalind to meet her when she was settled. A cup of tea, a good night's rest, and then they could start formulating. The dreams of that night would be recorded in her journal and combed over for clues. The tea leaves would be checked and sketched, analyzed for patterns. There had to be a way to find out what came next without having to face it head-on.
"...Pleasure meeting you." And she followed Nora out.
Leaving, unless stopped.

Zahid was startled by the other professor's – he thought it was the Charms professor, but he was not completely sure – question. He had not meant to imply that he had one of these voodoo dolls. He had barely remembered even holding one, after all. If he was honest he was not sure what had happened to it – had he dropped it while they were still in the forest or had he still been holding it during their escape?
However, he did not think that the doll had looked like anyone specific. “I do not have such a doll in my possession. I do not know where it ended up that night – but from what little I could make out when I first picked it up, it did not particularly look like anyone as far as I recall.”
The Head of Slytherin's words about the School Nurse possibly not being trustworthy was even more worrying than one of the Professors having some of those voodoo dolls. Few people ever thought to distrust or suspect the medical staff... after all, had they not sworn some sort of oath to help and heal? To do no harm? But he supposed he should know better than to trust blindly in a non-binding, non-magical oath; and even with those wording was important. He had read about enough betrayals throughout history to believe in blind trust in people you did not even know (or in many cases, blind trust in people you did know.)
But there was little he could do there. He would follow Professor Jensen's directive and try to find out more about these voodoo dolls. “Well, I believe we have our marching orders.” he said quietly with a sigh before giving a decisive nod and following the others and leaving the room. It seemed there was nothing more to do or discuss right then and there.

Alaric had fallen silent Nora had said everything he might have brought up, including the working as a team. It was a bit of a joke that the muggle studies professor thought that she would be the one to call the shots and appoint a leader in the first place. These, of course, were thoughts that would never be made public, but she showed precisely the kind of person she was. Alaric stepped back from Caradoc, allowing him to take his leave. While everyone started to file out one by one, Alaric did not make a move to leave. He retook his place against the wall and crossed his arms.
He was, in fact, waiting to be the last to leave because he didn’t intend to leave right away. It seemed that some of them had had their time to investigate the office, and there might have been something that had been missed. His dhampir nose wasn’t nearly as good as a werewolf, and by now, there had probably been too many people in here for it to do him any good, but there had to be something that he could try. Had everyone who had been through here really tried to do everything that they could? He intended to spend the rest of the night in this office if that is what it took even if he found nothing at least he would have tried.

Maya stood with her arms crossed and a small smile that had slowly formed the more Nora spoke. To others, Nora looked calm and collected. But in reality, she was not. She was far from it. How did Maya know? There was far too much history between the two of them. History that has never been shared with faculty. Because why admit it all when there is nothing left anymore?
Maya, knowing that Nora's blood is boiling, made her beyond pleased. Her small smile began to grow. There was something about all these years finally having her to feel what it was like to feel the growing rage under her skin. Though, there was a part of Maya who did know Nora so well that she would make a fantastic leader in comparison to anyone in the room.
The fact that she credited leadership to be all of Heads of Houses was humorous. Especially when she was the type at that very moment to let others know what they should be doing. She was, indeed, a leader at heart.
Maya saw that some people were leaving the room. Good. Perhaps it was her words who made them go, or they went on their own. Whatever the case was, she was glad to see some action than sitting down or standing around wondering what happened. The small smile still on her face, she moved her hood forward to cover most of her face and she left the room after Zahid.

Artemis watched as the professors all left one by one. He figured it would be his time to leave as well and moved to stand near Cypress as he waited for her to take her own leave. He would escort her back to her rooms or to the Hospital Wing- not that she needed the escort but company would be nice and it wasn't safe for them to wander alone either- before he went off to the grounds of the castle and attempted to make the wards stronger and repair any broken ones. He honestly figured that he would be strengthening the wards with Elaine as some of the DADA spells were good for protection as well, but he was capable to making it all work on his own. If someone chose to help him, all the better.
He noticed Nora taking charge of the situation since Caradoc had left a bit earlier...and he also noticed the bite behind her words when it came to repeating things that Maya had said prior to Nora's instructions. He didn't know if there was something going on between the two, but it seemed as there was a history possibly. Not his business though. Artemis listened carefully to Zahid's words before the man left and understood that maybe the doll wasn't in his possession. It could be something Artemis stumbles upon in his journey of fixing up the wards. Either way, it was imperative that they attempt to keep all of the students safe.

Once again, Boniface was left lost. Everything had moved so quickly, turning in so many different directions. He swallowed hard and anxious, considering what would happen should Lear need to be replaced. Surely, the school would not be run by four people? Whether or not Maya had spoken up just to start a fuss or if she truly meant what she said, deep down, he felt as though she had a point. Still, he would not admit that out loud, because it wasn't in Boniface's nature. It also appeared to, perhaps, ruffle the feathers of Nora a little bit, and considering he was to be working with her, he did not wish to be on her bad side.
Noting that others were taking their leave, Boniface made his way towards the door. "It was nice to see you all..." He offered softly, awkwardly giving the remaining few a wave. It was true, Boniface was glad that the professors were coming together when faced with adversity, but he didn't hope for it to happen like this. He did hope that there were no hard feelings left between anyone, but he still felt rather tense. Perhaps there was old bones to pick? He couldn't be sure. Regardless of whatever this was, Boniface made his exit, preparing to help Nora.

Elaine's head wasn't in the discussion. Maybe it was the lack of sleep, the argument with the Board of Governors, or the general tense atmosphere in the room, but the Gryffindor Head of House felt the headache starting at her temples as the other professors snapped at each other, made accusations and were mostly making the situation worse instead of better by their agitated tones of voices and terse words. There were too many people in the room. That was the other fact that made her more on edge with every passing minute: too many strong witches and wizards, too close to each other, a goblet that was about to overflow.
The tattoos would pick up on the thoughts swimming beneath the surface of her mind sooner rather than later. There were only so many times she would be able to put the odd murderous thought back into a drawer in the back of her mind before it surfaced again. Elena had already considered the Hufflepuff Head of House, even if just for a few seconds, something that was out of character for orderly her thoughts usually were.
A Curse Breaker. Professor Lian mentioned that she had been a Curse Breaker in the United States. Whatever ailed the children in the Hospital Wing, the description of it did fit too well with a curse for it to be ignored.
"Professor Lian," she mentioned softly, waiting for some of the other professors to leave so her frayed nerves could settle down. "You mentioned being a Curse Breaker. I am... experienced with curses. If you are s inclined we might walk by the Hospital Wing on our way back to our rooms and have a look at the cursed Slytherin students there. I am sure Professor Jensen would appreciate it."
Will leave with Cypresse if she agrees.

Tensions hadn't quite calmed down yet, but people were leaving, and the meeting seemed to be concluding. Quietly, Cy listened the others speak, pushing her worry for Aoi and Evangeline to the side
- a letter would be in order, but there were more immediate things to be taken care of now, and she didn't want to miss an important detail before they disbanded.
But it was good to stop before things got any worse. There was something... off with Mr. Browne, Ms. Galim was clearly a little excited to start, Ms. Jensen seemed harried enough as it was, and, well, continuing at this rate probably wouldn't be beneficial to anyone. There wasn't much to say left, anyway, unless anyone had left details out. She was just about ready to slip away herself, hearing Artemis approach helpfully, should she choose to exit.
Her experience served her well, though. Working at MACUSA had been her job for three years while she got her post-Hogwarts education, and while her sleep habits then didn't help her much now, she had plenty of practice solving riddles like these. Her head jerked up as she was addressed, turning her attention towards the Gryffindor Head of House.
Collaboration wasn't rare when she'd worked as a Cursebreaker. She used to prefer to work alone, when she'd first been hired, which had been fine for the cases that she had the ability to solve by herself. But it became quickly apparent to the young employee that nobody's brain had the space to hold every branch of knowledge and experience. As she'd risen through the ranks, she'd gotten to work with others: experts in magizoology, several animagi, people with slivers of useful information, other Cursebreakers as well. On more than one occasion, she'd actually been the one pulled into someone else's case. Solving puzzles was not a solitary activity.
"I'd be happy to, Ms. Pendrast," she accepted, nodding and pushing off where she leaned on the wall. "I don't have anything more important to do tonight anyways. I can't guarantee how much I'll figure out tonight alone, but we've just finished the most difficult unit of the year in my classes... I should be less oblivious to what's going on by now, and shouldn't have an issue splitting my efforts." With that, she allowed Artemis to take her arm gently - she'd let Ceta know later.Leaves with Elaine and Artemis (who is guiding her).
