Hoping
I have no idea what to do right now. I am super bored. I'm not sure how I could even be bored in a place like this. Last night I overheard a few first years in the common room talking about exploring the castle since today is our day off. It is still super early this morning, but I cannot even think about sleep right now. I got a few hours of sleep last night but now that I am awake, I am just itching to walk around.
Technically, I can be up and moving around right now. It is within the hours. So I get up, get dressed, and start toward the portrait door. I step through and into the corridor. But now that I am here I have no idea what to do or where to go. I see a pair of girls walking past me and I suddenly feel the need to get outside, to fresh air.
I head down the stairs, and once I get to the bottom, I immediately go to the courtyard. The stairs have been super tricky to understand. They move so often that I have had to learn to move fast. Finding classes hasn't been easy either. Some people claim that it's easy to get around the school, but given its size, I find that to be untrue. The big groups of people in the corridors always throw me off. I can never tell where I am because I can hardly see my surroundings. I am actually kind of surprised that I can even find my way to the courtyard.
As I walk through the opening to the courtyard I take a deep breath in through my nose. I've always been more at home outside than inside. I love all of the greenery and the animals that come with being outside. I see a couple sitting on the bench, talking. Once they spot me they get up and leave. That's what everyone has been doing. I am starting to wonder if I'll ever be able to talk to someone or make a friend.
That's when I see a guy walk through the entrance. I pretend to not see him and I go sit down on the dewy grass by a tree. I lean against the tree and listen to the sound of the birds singing. I don't want to make the first move, so I silently wish that the guy will come and talk to me. I know it kind of sounds desperate, but I really just want to make a friend. At this point I don't really care what house my future friend belongs to! Please, can someone just talk to me?

Anne finally had some time off. All the homework had been making her crazy. She hated hours of endless work and desperation. She really wanted to do something else for once.

So, early that morning she decided to take a stroll around the castle. Just for the fun. She then suddenly thought about going out. So, she headed towards the courtyard. Anne had been inside for so many days already, she missed the outside world. She was eager to go out camping or something. Fresh air, animals and nature were always of her liking.
As Anne went out, she saw very few people. She would have expected many to want to go outside. But, maybe she was the only one. After all, lots of people simply liked staying indoors for their own personal reasons. She saw a guy walking around, but then, her eyes moved towards a girl sitting alone in the grass.
Anne moved towards her. Maybe she could finally meet someone who also likes being outside. As Anne neared her she spoke to her. "Hey! are you alone?" Anne told her. She just had to make sure she wasn't waiting for someone. Because if so, it would be very awkward knowing she wasn't even invited. "My name is Anne by the way. Anne Brown." Anne continued. "Classes have been too exhausting. Sitting through long periods of studying just isn't my thing." She added, then continued. "What about you? Are you enjoying them up to now?"

Lilly had had a very tiring day. She had spent the morning cramming in an essay that was due that day, and had only had a few minutes at breakfast before her lessons started. From then on, her brain had been on fight or flight mode. Lunch was okay, she had been able to eat at a regular pace, then she had decided that she needed some fresh air, so she had walked done to the lake. Obviously the day wasn’t going to get better, and it proved itself by her forgetting to check the time, and she was late to potions. This had caused five points to be taken from Hufflepuff, meaning no one had waited for her at the end of the lesson. In the hour between her last lesson and dinner, she had spent lying on her bed reading, or at least trying to. She had turned two pages during that time, and none of the words had registered in her mind. Overall, the day just hadn’t been great.
Lilly had decided to wander around the school grounds again, the common room had become too noisy, and the fire made the whole room seem stifled. Upon entering the courtyard, she immediately spotted a boy in the far corner, and two Gryffindor girls sitting under a large tree. She dint particularly want to interact with anyone, but the thought of sitting by herself made her feel even more lonely than she was. Approaching them, and put a smile on her face. “Hi, I’m Lilly, can I join you guys?”

Millie had just finished her book. It was so interesting she doesn't even realised how long she spent her time reading her book to the point her position from leaning at the tree changed to half-layed at the ground. And she now just felt that cramped on her neck. The feeling she dislike most but can't help she kept doing again and again uncontrollably as she too focus on her reading her body unconciously moved to the strangest position.
Millie curled her lips, gulped down her own embarrassment as she sat up straight back to the tree, straighten back up her posture. Admiring her finished book for a moment, Millie then thought to get back inside. Maybe she could find another book to read in library while she waited for her parents send another one for her next. Hope so.
However, when Millie just stand up and patted her robe that was dirty or dirt and grass, she found some girls sat not far from the tree where she is now. There's another plan emerged from her head to join them, so she also can make more friends beside her bunkmates. And with that thought, Millie slowly yet confidently walked toward them, with her book clenched tightly in one of her hand.
"Hi, guys, good morning," she said as she stand tall in front of them, giving them the best version of smile she had. "Mind if I join you? I'm Millie."

As all of these new people approached me, I couldn't help but feel a sudden wave of genuine happiness and excitement wash over me. Since I first arrived here, all I had secretly wished for was someone to talk to, and now I finally had real people gathering around me to talk. I know that makes me sound like a total loner, but all I've had to keep me company so far are my demanding classes and the quiet, sweeping nature of the grounds. It gets incredibly boring without people to converse with. I never really realized how much I would truly appreciate having a friend at Hogwarts.
When I first stepped foot in the castle, I convinced myself that I was perfectly fine with not having friends. However, as the days kept going, I figured out that not having anyone to talk to feels completely suffocating. The silence in the dormitory was starting to weigh heavily on my chest.
So, with a nervous but eager smile, I decided to answer Anne first. "Hey! I am alone, actually. You are the first person I have talked to in a while so, yeah."
The moment the words left my mouth, I felt a little bit awkward. It was sort of how you feel right after you embarrass yourself in front of a giant crowd. My cheeks flushed a faint pink, matching the Gryffindor colors on a nearby banner.
But I forced myself to push forward, determined to try to make up for the sudden awkwardness. "My name is Haeli, Haeli Randall, and you are so right, the classes have been exhausting. Although, I have always liked classes, so I still enjoy them despite the mountain of homework."

“Nice to meet you Haeli” Anne said with a smile on her face. “At least you enjoy classes. The only thinf I think was alright was like DADA. I don’t know but I don’t really enjoy them as much. Somethings just seem a little useless. I mean, let’s be real. If you’re on a duel or something you won’t really cast a Dancing Feet charm, would you?” Anne thought about how silly it would be. She couldn’t imagine being in an actual duel. She wondered what king of spells could be used. Maybe they would be taught about them. Just not now.
Then, another girl with dirty blonde hair approached them. She presented herself as Lilly. “Hello Lilly, I’m Anne. And sure, you can join us.” Anne said glancing at Haeli, hoping that was alright with her. “We were talking about school. Don’t you find homework kind of useless? Or is it just me with some crazy ideas in mind?” She added trying to sound friendly and maybe continue the conversation.
Yet another girl who was maybe a bit taller than Anne came closer. Anne hadn’t expected so many people to approach. She had barely noticed anyone when she came in. As the girl introduced herself, Anne saw that she had stunning brown eyes and deep black hair. “Oh, sure.” Anne said brightly. “Come sit with us. My name is Anne by the way. Nice to meet you Millie.” She repeated once again full of joy that she had some more people to talk to.

I was so excited when Anne came to sit with me in the courtyard that I couldn't help but smile. She was so pretty with her long red hair and crystal green eyes. I was absolutely thrilled to see that she was in Gryffindor too! As she carried on talking about charms and dueling, my mind kept wandering to how it would look if someone in the middle of a duel suddenly started dancing because of the Dancing Feet charm. I knew I'd completely lose it laughing.
"I probably wouldn't cast a Dancing Feet charm as my opening spell, no. However, it would be lots of fun, wouldn't it? As for learning about different duels, I think it's going to be extremely exciting. I'm not entirely sure I want people casting spells on me, but I suppose we all have to start somewhere, right? Even if it means being a bit of a test subject at first." I smiled.
That's when Lilly came up to sit with us. I was so relieved when Anne agreed to let her join. Smiling widely, I said, "Hey Lilly! I'm Haeli. What house are you in, and what's your favorite lesson so far?"

Millie smiled sweetly as she come to join them and sat to form a tiny half-circle on the ground. She nod as how warmly Haeli, Anne, and Lilly welcomed her and already asked Millie about everything. Like everything. It doesn't mean she didn't like it, though. Somehow, that was kind of make her overwhelmed yet she slowly adapted to the surroundings.

"I'm Ravenclaw," Millie said, and think for a moment as she literally pondering which subjects she could choose if being asked of what's her favorite. "Honestly, I'm intrigued with all of the subjects since it's all new for me. And yes, if you wondered, I'm a muggle. There's no such thing ever taught in my old school nor my parents know a thing of magic." She chuckled, suddenly had a thought when she graduated and showing her true nature becoming a witch to her old 'friend', what would be happened? But of course, it was just a thought in the deep of her mind because Millie know the Ministry have kind of strict restriction of that secrecy thingy. "But if I must choose, I think it will be Transfiguration. Isn't that funny to change a rock-hard pebble into a soft cushion?"

“No way! I’m a muggle too! What did you think when you got your letter? I literally thought my brother cast some silly prank on me. But, I guess it wasn’t him.” She said. Anne had barely talked to anyone else that had a non-magical family. She had seen lots of pure-bloods. Anne personally thought that was useless. The only thing that mattered should be their skills. Not some blood status.
“I guess it’s cool. Though I wanted something a bit more exiting. Like turning people into different shapes. But, yeah, I guess that’s for older kids.” She said remembering how her level of stupidty probably wouldn’t let her do such things. “I mean, I really can’t complain. It took me a huge amount of time to transform the knife to a paper airplane.” She said. “And what do you think about DADA? I think that might be my favourite subject. I mostly like the action. Like moving around you know? I like the feeling that you’re actually doing something instead of just learning a bunch of theory.” Anne continued.
“What about you Lilly?” Anne said invitingly. “What do you think about school so far?"
