Overstimulated.
That's one way to describe the alley where Alex had just entered in with both of his parents. Alex absolutely dislike places that is crowded with faces whom he wouldn't even wish to acknowledge. He had hope this entire school 'shopping' spree end soon enough even before they step a foot in the Diagon Alley. He hadn't meant to bumped into bunch of shoulders as he walk, 'for goodness sake, when will these people walk out of here.' he think to himself almost furiously.
Alex hates how mean he could think and behave sometimes. He never mean to. He shouldn't even think of behaving like a spoiled brat because the way his mother glance his way since they were here had Alex curse in his head. As if on cue, Eliz Kavanagh speaks with her silky voice, "Sweet dove, you're gonna scare off that poor boy over there if you kept frowning like that.". 'Curse me.' he thinks again, frowing, he assume.
"I can't believe what i'm seein' at the moment." Alex's father, Joseph Kavanagh then mutter more to himself, looking around the alley with awe and curiosity written all over his face. "Snap away now," Joseph huff out before he snap his head to Alex, "you have the list with you, i believe?" He ask him.
"Aye dad," He reply before he takes the folded note in the pocket of his trousers. "Shall i go to the book store firsthand?" He ask to both of his parents, "Absolutely. Here's your money for now," Eliz hand Alex a small purse, "Use it wisely, my little dragon." She added, wrapping an arm around Joseph's as she smile to her little boy.
"Don't get lost, lad!!" Joseph say from afar before they disappear in a random shop.
Now he's alone even in this busy alley.
!
If the alley is narrow, then the book store is quite the same. It didn't take him that much time to find it as he just read the store sign outside that says 'Flourish and Blotts'. As soon as Alex enters the store, he were greeted by his favourite smell. 'Ah, heaven.' he say to himself as he wander around with the list in his hand. He is absolutely obsessed with the smell of book store or the books to be exact. "Oh, right." Alex mutter as he gently hold the first book in his hand. 'Fantastic beast.. check.'
It didn't take much time to find all those books in the list though holding them altogether is.. much more difficult. Just as he's about to descend down the stairs, which the stacks of books makes it harder for him to see, a voice calls out for him. Wait, for him?
"Honestly, honey. Do call for our help, what if you fall down this stairs?"
Eliz's voice echoes around the store briefly, making Alex peeks his head to the side of the stacks. "Heya mum." his accents slightly thicken at the sight of his parents. "Do ye mind?" he added, one leg slowly moving down the step. "Big lad now, aren't ye?" Alex can hear the grin as Joseph speaks, gently takes some of the books in his hand, clearing his field of vision.
Joseph's accent is almost nothing compared to Alex's. Since they were living in Liverpool, his accent is almost as thick as the books he read. "My sweet dragon, you forgot your potion book." Eliz speaks again, scanning through the list of book and the ones that Joseph and Alex hold onto. "Mum, it's there. I swear." He say, now were following his mother's eyes as they dart to the stack of books.
Right. Sure.
Absolutely nothing.
"Told you." Eliz's lips curls into a small, affectionate smile as she gently place the said potion textbook on Joseph's stack. Alex nod as he descend down the stairs, behind both of his parents. Alex pay for the books before he carries them inside of his bag, or trunk, his mother said. Alex slowly inhaling, smelling the books in the store one last time before they all step outside.
" The lesson of history is that no one learns. "
