It was a bright and sunny morning as Sage made her way down to the lake for her daily morning walk. She was also carrying her bag full of school books and books from the library. She liked walking down to the lake and onto the dock to do some studying and light reading.
However, today she would find something different on her way down.
Sage kept a hand in her strap that was across her shoulder as she walked the sort of bumpy path. That's when she heard sinister laughter, she looked up and looked around. There was a boy, and a group of second-year boys that seemed to be picking on him, making fun of him and calling him names.
Anger rose up in Sage like an exploding volcano, her face getting red and scrunching up as she called up her fists. She had to be careful though. She walked toward them, and the group of boys seemed to laugh at her. That was until she spoke "don't you second-years have anything better to do than pick on a first-year such as studying or picking on someone your own size? Move along" Sage said and crossed her arms and stood her ground.
The boys laughed, but they stopped when she vent down to pick up a rock and throw it at their feet "go! Leave him alone!" She shouted and they started walking away. Her back faced the boy, her curls falling along her back. She turned and looked at him "hey, are you alright?" Sage asked kindly and waited to see if he was okay.

Adonis had been keeping to himself all day, aside from when they had classes, obviously. But now he was on his way to the Great Lake. He was eager to learn and study more out of the textbooks that he used the most for Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts. His father was an Auror and he knew of the requirements to get you going down in that path of one, especially even hearing it from his Charms teacher, Professor Vernatis. The young Thorn wanted to get started as early as possible and fill himself with knowledge for his Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts O.W.L.S., so that he may pass it to continue down that path towards it. Adonis was rather an eager and compassionate boy, one that could not be moved when he had his mind set in stone on a certain task or thing he wanted to get done.
Upon arriving at the Great Lake, Adonis took a seat at the lake shore and looked on ahead at the large body of water in front of him along with the hills and their forests. It was rather peaceful to just be there studying on his own and take in the cool fresh air. He enjoyed every bit of it, to say the least. That was until he was rudely interrupted by a group of people.
Almost out of nowhere, Adonis was suddenly pushed down to ground with a grunt. The group of second years went out with name calling him and circling around him as soon as he stood up. Adonis was filled with rage in response to the actions of these delinquents that they so happened to thrust upon him with their insulting words. They were laughing and making fun of him now, but oh were they lucky he had yet to learn a spell to defend himself. He would've made quick haste of fending off the group of them if he had, or tried to at least.
Suddenly, a girl with piercing blue eyes appeared before him and the boys that were making fun of him. He was slightly taken aback by her beauty when she turned around to face him. Along with the boldness to stand up to them and help get rid of them. No one had really cared to ever help him before, Adonis asserted himself in a way that he wouldn't need help from others all the time, and he made quite sure of that. But he appreciated the girl for doing such this time. "Yes, I am. Thank you for that. I greatly appreciate it." He said to the girl with a firm nod. "What's your name if you don't mind me asking?" Adonis asked with a raised brow.

Sage had no clue what she was even doing now. Reality seemed to hit her and she froze a bit. She laughed softly at his question and looked at him "Sage Miller at your service" she smiled and fixed the strap on her shoulder. "Some second-years can be so mean. But if they ever give you a hard time, I can throw a mean punch if necessary" Sage joked a bit and blushed softly, realizing how stupid she must've sounded when she spoke to him.
"I was just on my way to the lake when I heard that they were giving you a hard time. I know what's it's like to be bullied, being Muggle-born, kinda gets me some haters. Anyways, are you sure you're alright? They didn't hurt you or anything?" She asked, and from a few steps away, she looked him up and down to make sure he was okay. She didn't really like talking about her blood status, especially to other Slytherins, just because she didn't know how they'd react.
She stood there and took a deep breath or two and calmed down a bit to let him speak, plus she didn't want him to see her as some kind of blabber mouth, because no body wants to be friends with one of those. Nonetheless, Sage continued to smile softly at him and look at him.

Taken aback by her physical appearance and stark beauty, Adonis had yet to fully process what exactly had just happened, practically forgetting it all in that instant the moment he saw her. That was until he snapped back into reality when he heard voice, reminding him of the conflict he had just went through and how she was there to stop it. He didn't really expect anyone to stand up for him. Most of the time he would do so himself, but it was different this time for some unexpected reason, which he didn't like at all. The embarrassment of it left a dry taste in his mouth, rather disgusted at the prospect of allowing himself to be belittled like that by the rowdy group of second years. A shame it was to him indeed. Although, he would make sure to perhaps get back at them one day. Maybe. Not in a lethal or harmful way, of course. But something to satisfy his taste... perhaps the Sneezing Hex? Who knew. The young Thorn would save such luxuries of plotting for another day when he had more time on his hands.
Then she mentioned being Muggle-born, his curiosity of her peeking even more so for whatever reason. It was this sudden interest of wanting to befriend her to go against tradition pure-blood views that made him want to even more so. He had no problem with Muggles, seeing them just as any other normal human being to him. He wasn't one to discriminate based off of blood status.
Suddenly, Adonis' allowed his usual charming smile to take it's form as it plastered itself across his face. His hazel eyes glistened slightly as the sun reflected itself upon them, allowing the light to show off the tints of green that were in his eyes. With a slight chuckle Adonis allowed himself to speak now, "The name is Adonis Thorn. Pleasure to meet you, Sage." The boy said with the nod of his head, smiling. "They really can though at times can't they? I'm sure you could, but no worries... if anything you could pity them for when I get them back." His face grew serious for a second before returning to his rather determined and happy expression.
"Oh? You're a Muggle-born? I always look forward to acquainting myself with new people such as yourself. Man am I glad my parents aren't like the other fanatic pure-blood families. Either way that still probably wouldn't have changed my views on Muggles. I think it's cool that you're Muggle-born to be honest. Some of your customs and ways fascinate me, especially the sports you call... football and rugby is it? I love it." Adonis accidentally rambled on, which he tended from time to time as he had on the train ride to Hogwarts when he spoke of his love for Quidditch. "Trust me though I'm fine. Not sure if I thanked you before but in case I didn't, then take you for coming to stop them. I-" Adonis had to swallow his pride for this one, looking away for a moment until returning his gaze to her. "I appreciate it greatly." He let out with a sigh. That seemed to take a lot out of him. "So, where are you from, Sage? If you don't mind me asking." He asked her after turning on his heels to begin walking, hoping she'd follow him so they could continue their conversation perhaps.
