Breakfast
Anne woke up quite early that morning. She was so nervous that she couldn't fall back asleep. Most of the girls from her dorm were still sleeping and only a few had woken up. Anne quickly changed to her robes, got her backpack ready and soon headed out towards the common room.
Outside was nobody. Probably those few who had gotten up early headed off for breakfast. Anne remembered she had promised her best friend, Aurelius, that she would meet him at the Great Hall for breakfast. So, checking once again that she had all she needed, Anne marched out through the portrait hole and headed for the stairs.
She only met a few people on her way. Anne was feeling quite exited even though she knew that she would eventually get bored by all the classes as she always did.
As Anne entered the Great Hall, ready to eat breakfast her eyes swept the whole room for someone she knew. Apparently, Aurelius had not arrived yet. So, she looked for an empty space in the long table and sat down. She was sitting right at the middle of the table. Most people had already taken the far ends, so it was one of the few spaces she found.
Breakfast
Aurelius pulled himself out of his bed, groaning. It had been a late night, but he had promised to meet his new best friend Anne at breakfast before class. Stumbling to the bathroom, he splashed his face with water, briefly ran a comb through his unruly hair. It always stuck up after he slept. He then trudged down the stairs, into the common room. A quick check showed that Anne was nowhere to be found, so he walked out through the portrait hole and down the stairs down to the Great Hall. Walking down through the corridors, he noticed the surprising lack of people. Everyone must be down in the Great Hall.
Coming into the Hall, he walked towards the Gryffindor table and stood at one end, looking down the table for Anne. Spotting a flash of ginger hair, he focused in on that, only to be disappointed when it turned out to be a small boy. Continuing to look, he saw another ginger head, he moved in her direction. It was her!
Plopping himself down next to her and helping himself to three waffles and a healthy portion of syrup, he said ‘Good morning! How did you sleep? Make any friends from your dorm yet?”

Breakfast
Anne had already served herself food and was ready to eat. But, a few moments later, she saw Aurelius coming towards her. She saw him looking around for her until she was finally noticed by him. As Aurelius sat down Anne felt a surge of relief that she had somebody to talk to.
"Good morning!" She replied cheerily. "Oh I slept great. And yeah, I made a friend. She's so nice. You've gotta meet her. We spent a huge amount of time talking. She was so nice. Though, she was still sleeping when I woke up. Most people were, so I didn't want to bother her. I know some people detest getting woken up by someone." Anne told him.
"So, what about you? Did you make any other friends? I mean, we did end our conversation pretty late, after all.
"Oh and I haven't forgotten. You have to show me what you've been writing about. And don't make up excuses. We've got a lot of time until the first class starts. Tell me all about it! What's your newest idea?" Anne asked excitedly. She had been dying to read it. All she had heard about Aurelius's stories was amusing. So, inevitably she had to ask.
Breakfast
“No new friends as of yet, unfortunately. But your friend sounds nice. I’d like to meet her. If you see her, you should invite her over.”
Aurelius grinned as she brought up his stories. “Well, it’s nothing special yet, but it’s just an idea I got after my dad told me how muggles read this thing called fantasy, which has weird magic and swords and monsters and stuff, right? So I thought I would try and write my own. My first stories were really short and quite terrible. But I’ve been writing for almost 5 years now and I’m about to start work on a full length series. It starts with a kind of prequel, with an ex-mercenary who feels like all the gods have cursed him. When he was young, he wanted to be a hero, but all his family and friends died in an undead raid. He then became a blacksmith, but his wife and baby son died in a tavern fire. He cursed the gods and ran away from his old life, becoming a sellsword. After almost 15 years, he is visiting the capital city of the Dhendar nation when he unwittingly saves the prince by following some goblins to an abandoned warehouse, where he saved the hostage. He then is taken to the king and, despite his protests, hailed as a hero. He was then sent on a quest to… I don’t know. I haven’t gotten that far yet.”
Aurelius waited with bated breath for Anne to respond. Would she think it was dumb?

"I'm sure you'll make some more. If not, I'll still be with you. We might find my friend in class. But right now I think she's still sleeping." Anne said.
"Woah! So how old were you when you started writing!?" Anne heard through the story that Aurelius had come up with. The whole thing just made sense. The story seemed exciting. The character's backstory was impressive. "The story is amazing! And you came up with all of it alone? Honestly, poor guy. You kinda ruined his life not gonna lie. But the plot twist is great. Maybe the quest could be something inspired by the Odyssey or something. Like a huge story which you could extend into several books. Not exactly the same, but the idea. You get it?” Anne thought about it. “But don’t take my advice too seriously. I’m not a writer. My academics are passing but I’m really not fond of it the singlest bit. I feel stupid around you, to be honest. I still don’t get it how you invent all those things!” Anne couldn’t imagine. “I really do like your stories. Anne thought about it. She thought about how fun it would be to be an actual character. Being able to do amazing things. Things other than just school and work. Exploring.
