PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
At 130cm tall, Josh is shorter than the average 12 year old. Despite his short height, he is not at all scrawny, and would probably be able to hold his ground in a fist fight. He has distinct hazel eyes that matches perfectly with his pin-straight ebony brown hair. His hair is usually slightly overgrown, and it keeps itself naturally neat, for this reason he rarely bothers to comb his hair. His skin is naturally pale, and because he does not spend much time outdoors, preferring to stay inside and play on his gaming console, he is the fairest in his family.
MENTAL DESCRIPTION
Josh is a very kind-hearted boy, and can't help at times to be a people pleaser. He always tries to put the needs of others ahead of his own needs, and can't help always trying to help people around him, though the only exception to this is his family. Despite his kind nature and tendency to help others, he is anything but gullible and submissive, and will put his foot down when other people try to take advantage of him. He can be shy and quite around people at first, but the more time he spends around a person and the more he grows to trust them, he can be very friendly and funny. He is also witty for his age, and has a strong thirst for knowledge. Another key personality trait is his ambition which was previously deep within him, but since receiving his Hogwarts acceptance letter has made itself apparent. Coming from a muggle family, he strives to achieve power and knowledge and to prove himself a powerful wizard despite his muggle background, but has no malicious intentions in his journey for greatness.
FIRST INSTANCE OF MAGIC
When Josh turned 10 years old in 2023, his parents had finally gifted him a gaming console after asking them for one for two whole years. To show that he was responsible, he protected the console with his life. He only let his younger sisters use it when he was watching them, and each time before leaving the house he would unplug it and place it at the top of his wardrobe, and furthermore he would clean it every Friday afternoon. This routine of keeping his console safe had become normal over the next few months. One day after school one Friday, he returned home in a particularly good mood because school was over for the week and the last class of the day had been history, his favourite subject. Normally he would first complete his homework before playing on his console, but because it was Friday the first thing he thought to do was give it a good cleaning. However, a huge surprise was waiting for him in his room. As soon as he opened the door, there lied his console at the bottom of his opened wardrobe, shattered. His mother's stepladder was still in his room, so he knew that somebody short - one of his sisters, tried to take it down and dropped it. A shockwave of emotions hit him, first confusion, then immense anger, then deep disappointment, then extreme sadness all at once, and the tears started coming out against his will. He was on the floor, hunched over the broken pieces, crying so hysterically and loudly, that his mother thought something bad had happened to him and rushed into the room looking worried. She asked him what had happened in a warn and concerned voice. He tried explaining in repetitive sobs, his hands completely covering his face, how he had walked into his room, and found his console destroyed on the floor, and how it wasn't his fault. After he finished trying to explain the situation, his mother looked very confused, and started lecturing him in an impatient voice for making up stories and crying for no reason. He was very shocked that she did not believe him, and finished rubbing his eyes when he tried to argue. However, when he looked down on the floor at where the pieces were supposed to be, his console sat looking as good as new, as if it was never broken at all. He felt nothing more than confusion, how was the console not broken when he just saw the pieces? Had he imagined it? He could not explain or understand how it had happened.
BACKSTORY
Josh Ericson was born the eldest child and only son of muggles Daniel and Nancy Ericson. He was born on September 26th, 2013 at The Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle. His father was an executive at an advertising firm, and his mother was the headteacher at a primary school. He had two younger sisters, Morgan and Hailey. His family resided in Didsbury, Manchester. He started attending primary school in September 2020, where he endured bullying. Eventually, his parents made the decision to transfer him to the school at which his mother worked in September 2022, where he slowly began to learn how to open up and be himself around his peers. In May 2024, his grandfather Thomas had suffered a stroke, so his parents decided to move to Cranleigh, Surrey to help take care of his grandfather and his grandmother, Cynthia. His mother stopped working to stay home full time to help take care of him, his sisters, and his grandparents, while his father began working at a local media firm. He enjoyed living with his grandparents, as they had two pet dogs, called Dexter and Steve, and because his bedroom here was larger than his bedroom in Didsbury. He had to transfer schools for the third time, and found it difficult to connect with his peers at first. His most favorite thing to do was to play video games on his gaming console, and spent every free moment he had locked in his bedroom playing online. It was through his passion for video games that he bonded and became friends with 4 boys in his class, Nick, Blaine, Hunter, and Micah. His life could have not been better or more normal. That was until a hot morning in mid-July 2025. Josh was getting ready to go to his friend Hunter's house, where his other friends would be spending the day. He was very eager to leave fast because about an hour earlier, he had gotten into a row with his father about not taking the dirt bags out to the outside bins. He did not want to give his parents any more reasons to ground him, so he was determined to leave quickly without getting into trouble. He was just placing his gaming console on the top shelf of his wardrobe using his mother's stepladder, when he heard the doorbell ringing. He just walked out of his bedroom door when he heard his grandmother's distressed voice, calling him and his parents downstairs. He was the first to come down, and saw his grandmother in the living room, standing next to a very odd looking man. He had never seen a more unusual looking person. The man smiled warmly at him as he walked in, and walked forward to shake his hand. His mother just came down the stairs, and looked at the man as if he were psychotic. She immediately pulled her son away from the strange man, and held him close protectively. The man, seeing the distressed looks on his mother's and grandmother's faces, explained that he worked at a place called Hogwarts, the existence of wizards and witches, and how they all attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn how to use and control their abilities. He ended off by explaining to the three of them, that Josh was a wizard, and handed him a letter in yellow parchment, addressed to Josh in emerald green ink. His mother snatched the letter from her son's hands, and opened it herself, to see what exactly was inside of it. As she read the letter, his grandmother picked up the telephone, and was starting to dial 999. So many thoughts were going through Josh's head; was he really a wizard? Why did this man look so odd? What was Hogwarts? The man, still seeing the tension in the room, took out a long, thick wooden stick that looked like a wand, and pointed it at his grandmother's china teapot. The teapot turned into a snowy-white ferret, and began crawling around the coffee table. Josh's grandmother had dropped the telephone, so shocked and perhaps wondering if she would get her teapot back, and his mother's face was so pale, you would think she had seen a ghost. The man then sat down on the sofa, turned the ferret back into a teapot, and gestured for the three of them to sit and join him. While his mother and grandmother still looked very shocked as they sat down on either side of Josh, he simply looked at the man with curiosity and awe, wondering if he was able to do something that cool. The wizard stayed for about ten more minutes, and explained in depth about the wizarding world, how Josh would attend Hogwarts for 7 years as part of his magical education, and what he would need to do to be prepared to attend Hogwarts on September 1st.

A kind and shy boy who loves to read and expand his knowledge. To those closer to him, a kind-hearted and intelligent boy who loves to read, help others, and play video games.- What is your character's most prized possession?
At first it was his gaming console, but after finding out he was a wizard it's his wand.- What is your character's deepest insecurity?
His fear of rats, spiders, bats and frogs. Most of the other boys in his class at his muggle primary school had little to no fear for these small, harmless animals, but even looking at them gives him anxiety. It became worse when he finds out wizards and witches have almost no fear for them and even keep them as common pets.- What motivates your character?
The fact that there will always be something for him to learn, it encourages him to keep learning as there is no limit to knowledge and wisdom.- What angers your character?
He is very kind and loves to help others, and becomes angry if people take advantage of his helpful nature. He also becomes angry with himself when he fails a task or fails a school assignment.- What makes your character happy?
Playing video games with his friends. He also enjoys spending time with his family. He also becomes very happy when he succeeds in a task, whether it's school related or not.- What does your character like about themself?
It would probably be his ability to read fast when he is motivated and deeply interested in a book, or his hairs tendency to keep itself naturally neat so he does not have to comb it that often.- How is your character's relationship with their family?
His relationship with his family is generally good. He is closest to his grandmother, and has very close relationships with his mother, and younger sister Morgan. His relationships with his grandfather and his other younger sister Hailey are good. His relationship with his father is more complicated, because he does not spend that much time with Josh as he works long hours and is always in a bad mood at home from exhaustion, but he still loves and cares about his dad.- Is your character susceptible to peer pressure?
Not at all. He is not afraid to say no or back out of something he does not want to do, and will stand up for himself if people try to take advantage or bully him.- What annoys your character the most?
Mainly people disrespecting and abusing books and animals (that he is not afraid of). He also gets annoyed by arrogance, obnoxiousness and pride, as well as people asking him to copy his homework or other school work.

When he lies, his face starts to redden slightly and his voice becomes more quiet. He also glances between the floor and the person he is talking to when he lies.- Describe your character's mannerisms/habits
He starts to tap his foot on the ground repeatedly when he is deeply concentrated on something. He also hums when he is enjoying or is interested in something. He also has a habit of zoning out, as sometimes he starts thinking about something completely unrelated to whatever he is doing and will usually stare into thin air when he does this.- Describe your character's typical first impression
Peoples first impression of him is a shy, nerdy boy who always has his nose in a book. He also comes off as anxious when meeting new people as he feels uneasy when meeting people who he does not trust yet.- Describe a recurring dream for your character:
A distinct dream that he has every once in a while is about him owning a time machine and using it to travel back in time to witness historic moments and events in person, and meeting famous and historically important people who died way before he was born.- Describe your character's morning/nightly routine
Morning - Josh wakes up very early (6-7 A.M). When he wakes up, the first thing he does is make his bed, and then throws a cloak/hoodie over himself. He then brushes his teeth, and has breakfast. He showers after eating, and after showering he spends the rest of his morning free time outside, usually studying and observing snails and beetles. (He only reads this early in the morning if the book or topic is really interesting, or if it has to do with class)
Night - Josh starts his night routine around 8 P.M, after having dinner. He first changes into his night clothes, and then usually spends two hours reading, completing unfinished homework, or studying. He does this until he feels tired, and at this point will properly pack away all of the books and materials he was using, and then brushes his teeth for the night. He then sleeps for the day, and starts the same uninterrupted routine the next day.- Describe the contents of your character's bag
His bag is probably more cluttered than his mother's purse. While he keeps stuff other people see such as his dorm, bed, and appearance neat, his bag is a complete mess. He keeps every single one of his books in his bag (even if he doesn't need them in a class that day), unorganized notes, and crumpled up pieces of parchments from errors he makes when writing (he forgets to throw them away). He also keeps other clutter such as quills, doodles, ink bottles, candy wrappers, and his remembrall in his bag.- Describe how your character wants to be seen
Despite being a nerdy bookworm, Josh doesn't like this label for himself or the only way people see him. He wishes to be seen as adventurous, funny, warm spirited and a good friend - all things that he is but are hidden beneath his shy, awkward exterior.
