When the duel started, Ophelia suddenly started to feel hot and nervous. This was her first duel, unofficial at that, and she didn't want to mess up. She wasn't sure which spells would help her here; due to that, she decided only to use the ones she knew would at least be useful.

Flipendo and Fumos were cast multiple times, and Ophelia realized she couldn't see that well anymore. Biting her tongue to stop herself from swearing, she looked around to make sure she still could recognize who was on her team or not; the blue bands were quite helpful. The, three she realized, Flipendos were all targeted toward the same person (ohhh poor her, Ophelia thought), but one had found its way to Angel, a Slytherin girl Ophelia had interacted with around a month ago.

When I can't see so well, I might as well do a spell that doesn't harm a lot, so that if I accidentally hit a teammate, they don't suffer much. That was what she thought of doing, but still wasn't sure about. As a first-year, her spells were limited to the ones she knew until then, while the older students knew more and, as a result, could use more; maybe even ones she'd never even heard of. Three students met that criteria. Ophelia thought this through again and readied her wand.

When a few more people had joined, the duel officially began. Fawkes was ready to cast her spell. This was only her second time ever duelling and she was nervous. She had been struggling to hit her spells the most accurately. Well then again, that's why she wanted to pick up duelling in the first place, to improve her spell casting abilities through practice.

She made her way towards the other team's base, watching around to see if anything was coming her way. She raised her wand and casted Flipendo at Tatiana only for it to not hit. On top of that she didn't see the smoke before it was too late and found herself within a bunch of smoke. It seemed that the other team had a similar idea to cast Fumos as well.

The smoke started to cloud up her glasses which was more annoying than the spell itself. With the little breeze in the area the chance of the smoke clearing was definitely higher but if her glasses had fogged up lenses it wasn't going to make a difference whether or not the smoke remained. Thankfully, her teammates had managed to hit their spells which certainly put them at an advantage. She paused contemplating what to do next/

The King of the Hill Duelling game begins not long after Cassie joins the blue team. When both teams have enough players, the moderator announces that the game begins. In an instant, those on the offensive team casts spells at the other team, with colourful sparks flying in the air. At the same time, those on the defensive team on both sides cast fumos to cover their bases in smoke.

Cassie has to admit she is a bit nervous when a few spells fly past her, narrowly missing, but she soon calms down when she is covered with smoke. She is quite familiar with the spell, as she had used it in her Spring Royalty Ballet acts to cover her when she was changing stage settings. The sense of familiarity makes her think calmly.

She quickly goes through the spells she knows, picking out the defensive ones and makes a decision about which to use. 'I am going to...' she whispers to her teammates so they can know her moves. In team duelling, strategy is always important.

Holding her wand firmly in her right hand, she is ready to cast her spell, aiming at a student in the red team. 'We'll definitely succeed!' she thinks aloud.

The first round came towards Tatiana like a wrecking ball. In less than a second three people of the opposite team had hit the girl with a Flipendo all at the same time, which had, of course, not been so well for her. Fortunately though, from what she could make out, one of them missed. But that still didn't make up for the remaining two spells, which had hit her squarely and left her on the ground.

Recovering herself, it seems that her team wasn't so quick in doing something against them either. Only Angel had thought of casting Fumos at them, which would hopefully be able to do something sooner or later. Other than that, hopefully the next round would not be so mean to Tatiana anymore, which would be quite hard to see since their strategy seemed to be to take out the defenses first before finally surging in. Which, unfortunately for her, because she was the only defense of the team, she would most likely take most of the damage.

She just hopes that those of the offense position would be able to reach the opposite team's area before Tatiana would've been successfully ambushed by the blue team with what so little health left.

Slowly, the smoke cleared. The bases were reset. Healing spells were uttered by the moderation team. The Blue Team had won the previous round, but would they be able to perform a feat again? Time would most certainly have to tell.

Almost immediately, spells were slung from base to base, with those on the offence barrelling towards their opponents, while those on the defensive side tried to stop their base from being taken. The sound of thundering footsteps would fill the area as incantations were uttered. Flipendo! Fumos! Tarantallegra!

Flashes of light would attract the gazes of spectators as smoke from a well-cast Fumos filled the air. Some of the spells were more difficult to cast – a wayward Flipendo made itself a paragon of friendly fire, but fortunately did not hit its adjusted target.

While the Red Team attempted to cast a number of offensive spells, they had less luck with those that caused damage. The Blue Team, however, proved victorious in this regard – and it was this regard that determined the winner of the game. With numerous successful Flipendos and Tarantallegras, the Blue Team had successfully worn down the Red Team, taking control of its base.

'And that's match! Everyone, back to your starting positions.'

Paul could merely see through Ang's smoke, but he saw the tip of someone's wand flashing with green light. Dammit! Ran through his mind, as he tried to dodge. He, however, didn't manage, getting hit by the Flipendo and being knocked back several metres. He flew away and when he landed, he even slid several centimetres back, so strong was the charm that hit him.

"Aagh!" Did he shout out as he was flying back through the air and fell down as a sack of potatoes, with an audible thump. During the flight, Paul focused on gripping his wand as hard as possible. Just don't let go, do you understand? It's your only weapon! Thought the boy warningly.

"Uh... ouch!" Did he force out once he fell on his butt. Lifting his hands and shoulders slightly, he afterwards slumped them, as well as his head. His eyes watered from the smoke, turning red. Damn, this is the second round I can see nothing. And from our own player! This is like scoring an own goal! Can I have a worse luck? Hardly.

"Dammit, Ang... thanks a lot." Paul grumped, rolling his eyes, before he cleaned his hand. "If only it was possible to control who you're casting the smoke at." Sighed the boy, rubbing his itchy eyes.

He stood up, not smiling, as another loss made him, admittedly, sad. Not that he didn't enjoy spell casting and stuff, but his competitive nature just suffered.

On his way back to the team though, he clapped several times, trying to support his mates. "Come on, guys! We can do this! We have to win at least once!"

Once the moderator let another match start, Paul ran forward, attacking the first person who came at him.

Now she really did not want to continue this, in fact she wanted to finish this quickly which made her more competitive. Using fumos again did horribly. Affecting her and Paul, the smoke did not irritate her but it did for him. Stopping in her tracks as her shoes screeched in a brace. Rashly she looked in all directions making sure she was not in a blindspot. Turning ahead she wanted to apologize for the inconvenience, being a half breed who was a magical menace magic was harder to control.

"I'm sorry! I'll try to be careful!" she said to Paul

What was most irritating was everyone was good at evading. Specifically for blue team they were just very nimble. The area already had enough smoke to blind the spectators too. Using spells that were able to oppose damage was what she needed. If only she can see the other members of Team Red, she would not have worried. Tatiana was getting the worst of it. Rushing over she wanted to check up on her, if only she can heal everyone here. Kneeling down in a rush she was near Tatiana.

"Oh dear, are you ok? Try your best to stay strong. I'll try to make damage to the other team!" she said as she walked away to cast another spell

In hopes that the spell would work, she did not want to affect her teammates again. Angel will try to take extra care when casting.

This was getting pretty exciting.

Once the next round began, I immediately felt the magic, the air changing and charging with spells. A lot of smoke and redirected spells on the other team, and I felt a thread of magic coming to me.

I sensed it before I saw it. And when I did, I managed to dodge the Steleus right in the last second.

My head Immediately turned to look for Robin. I wanted to see how my friend was doing. But between all the smoke, it was impossible to locate him. With a sigh, I kept casting spells, sending some more critical spells to the Red Team, hoping I'd make some damage to them.

With a grin, I noticed the Blue Team was having the best part of the game. A few more rounds and we'd win, that's what I thought.

The round ended and, with it, I let myself catch a breath. I hadn't been to thrilled, so excited in my whole life. This was, certainly, a new experience to me. I was sure this was my place. Where I was supposed to be.

As the next round was announced, I tightened the grip on my wand, lifting it up, ready to keep fighting no matter what.

Holy shit.

This was the most pumped up duel she'd ever been in. Though she could barely see through all the smoke that was fired from their teams, though she wasn't exactly affected by it, she still couldn't brace herself for two spells that shot at her. Back to back she was hit with a dancing feet spell and a Flipendo, though at least she stayed upwards, unfortunately her teammate, Paul, could not. She pulled him up without a word while he thanked her, hoping the match wasn't finished yet.

Angel rushed to the both of them, uttering apologies and reassuring them to do more damage next round. β€œIt's all right, just try to get our heads high for the next round,” she said to Angel, she looked as though she was blaming herself for the fall of the both of them.

But then the moderator had already declared victory to the blue team. Fuck. No luck for another round, but hopefully there will be for another match. She sighed heavily, taking her position back at the base. This time, she swore to not let anyone cross it. Her eyes fixed on every one of their opponent, analyzing them, then finally reaching their defender of the opposite side; her gaze lingered a second too long.

The second round was just as exciting. Even more so, as Robin finally cast a more offensive spell, Tarantallegra, at one of the Red Team members. It was a success, damage was caused, and the Blues snatched another victory. Robin never really thought of himself as a team player, but the feeling that you contributed to a whole was . . . somewhat nice.

Between the rounds, Robin looked around their side of the field to observe the situation. Mikaela was fine, she looked pretty excited. It seems like the Blue Team didn't take even a little damage. Healing spells were focused on their opponent, which trickled a drip of guilty pride down his heart. Paul was among the wounded . . . Robin wasn't "happy" about it, he just didn't care as much about the Gryffindor boy's well-being. He sometimes still cannot make sense of the boy's relationship with Corrine, stuff happened and such, but his friend's crush or ex-crush isn't any of his business right now. The duel is.

The pleasant sensation of another victory was interrupted abruptly by a chill down his spine. Not to the level of a scare, but it made Robin uneasy enough to care and turn his head. The defender of the Red Team, he wasn't aware of her name, gazed at him for a brief moment. He thought it was brief, but he only caught the last second of her stare. Never mind, Robin thought, I should focus on planning my next move. As he muttered reassurance to himself, the boy readied his wand and slowed his breathβ€”the Blue Team will win three times in a row.
