Beneath the Endless Stars

Jasmine climbed the winding staircase of the Astronomy Tower carefully, one hand brushing against the cold stone wall beside her. The castle had already begun to quiet for the night; distant voices faded through the corridors below, and only the soft echo of her footsteps remained. The higher she climbed, the colder the air became, carrying the faint scent of rain and old stone.

When she finally reached the top of Hogwarts, she stepped outside and immediately froze.

The sky stretched endlessly above her, impossibly vast and beautiful. Thousands of stars glittered across the darkness like scattered diamonds, surrounding the moon in a pale silver glow. Jasmine had always loved astronomy, but seeing the night sky from the tower felt completely different from reading about constellations in books or watching the stars from her bedroom window back home. Here, the stars felt closer somehow, as though she could reach out and touch them.

A cool breeze swept through her wavy brown hair as she slowly walked toward the stone railing. Below her, the Hogwarts grounds were cloaked in darkness — the Black Lake shimmered faintly beneath the moonlight, and the Forbidden Forest stretched endlessly at the edge of the horizon. The castle behind her glowed warmly through stained glass windows, making the tower feel strangely peaceful despite the cold.

Jasmine rested her arms against the railing and tilted her head upward again, completely mesmerized. For the first time since arriving at Hogwarts, everything else disappeared — the nerves, the uncertainty, the overwhelming feeling of being somewhere so magical. Up there beneath the stars, she felt small in the best possible way, like the universe was reminding her how endless and beautiful it truly was.

And for a moment, she didn’t want to leave at all.

“The stars above Hogwarts always seemed brighter, as though magic itself had reached up and touched the sky.”
