Crystal had spent the last two days practically living in the corridors. Between classes, meals, and honestly whenever she had even five minutes to spare, she had been everywhere, pinning posters to noticeboards, cornering friends in hallways, and whispering details to anyone she knew would never be able to resist a little chaos. The premise alone had done half the work for her: a cursed bottle, truth or dare, and the promise that only the brave should actually show up. It was ridiculous enough to sound fun and creepy enough to make people curious. Exactly what she had been hoping for.

The rumours had spiraled almost immediately. By the second day, people had already started adding their own details. Some said the bottle had once belonged to a former Divination professor who had cursed it after getting fired. Others claimed it could somehow sense guilt, lies, or the secrets people tried hardest to hide. Crystal never exactly confirmed any of it, but she definitely had not stopped the gossip either. If anything, she may have quietly encouraged it.

By the time evening rolled around, the courtyard already felt different. Crystal had picked one of the quieter corners beneath an old stone archway, far enough from the main paths that nobody would accidentally wander in but close enough that people could still find it. She had spent way too long setting everything up, but seeing it now made the effort feel worth it. A large velvet rug stretched across the cold stone floor, slightly dusty and worn enough to sell the whole "ancient cursed relic" idea. Around it sat ten mismatched cushions arranged in a careful circle, each one borrowed from somewhere different and none of them remotely matching.

Instead of bright floating lanterns, she had gone for old iron ones, their dim flickering light throwing strange shadows across the walls and making the whole place feel quieter somehow.

And then there was the bottle. It sat in the center of the rug, jagged obsidian glass catching the lantern light in strange ways. Up close, it looked old. Too old. Uneven around the edges, scratched in places, unsettling enough that even Crystal felt weird staring at it for too long.

Stepping back, she crossed her arms against the evening chill and glanced toward the courtyard entrance. "People better actually come after all this…" she muttered under her breath.

Maddy had heard about the cursed bottle approximately twelve hours after Crystal started spreading rumours about it and for some reason she had decided to come.

The story of the bottle had somehow evolved into at least six different versions depending on who was telling it. One person swore the bottle could force people to confess secrets they had never told anyone. Another claimed it had once belonged to a Divination professor who disappeared after cursing half their class. Someone else insisted the bottle could tell when people lied.

Maddy had no idea which parts were true.

That was exactly why she was interested.

Chaos at Hogwarts was practically impossible to avoid, but this? This sounded entertaining and she was always there for some entertainment especially since the Mischief 2.0 had nothing planned and she was way MORE than bored.

And if there was even a slight chance someone would end up humiliating themselves publicly, she absolutely intended to witness it.

As she neared the courtyard where this was supposed to happen, Maddy slowed slightly as she stepped inside.

Okay.

Crystal had committed to the atmosphere.

There was an eeriness in the air which made the rumor's way more intersting

And then there was the bottle now she understood why people had started believing the rumors so quickly.

“That is genuinely horrifying to look at,” she commented immediately, eyeing the bottle with clear fascination rather than fear.

Her gaze shifted toward Crystal, amusement already pulling at the corners of her mouth.

Glancing around at the empty cushions, she raised a brow. “Wait — I’m actually the first one here?”

Without waiting for an answer, she dropped dramatically onto one of the cushions and crossed her legs comfortably.

Well,” she announced, still staring at the bottle, “if this thing starts doing whatever cursed objects do before someone comes, I expect you to deal with it!" she raised her hands in surrender

Jay has seen the poster on a notice board earlier that day. A cursed bottle. A game of truth or dare…

Now that sounds like fun

For some reason, the chaos usually found in the castle walls had not been on her side lately, so this bottle was an opportunity to get her back on her feet.

She was getting ready to go when her roommates asked why she was wearing clothes instead of her pyjamas she made up a random excuse and ran out of the room. She had no intention of bringing them along with her.

The walk to the location was quiet. Outside of Jay’s head. Inside there were many thoughts swirling around, she had heard rumours about this so called ‘cursed’ bottle, whispers of a divination teacher having cursed it years ago, that was the theory Jay liked the most.

When she entered the courtyard the creepy atmosphere hit her like a freight train. Someone had definitely tried and succeeded to make this place feel like an abandoned cult circle. Jay looked in the centre and saw the famous cursed bottle.

I need a better name for it than the cursed bottle…

Jay felt a shiver go down her spine just by looking at it, she made sure to keep her composure, she would not look weak in front of people she didn’t know.

Speaking of people, Jay noticed there were only two people apart from her actually here. Jay looked up at one of them, Crystal the mastermind behind the game.

“I take it that this is said ‘cursed’ bottle?” She asked, turning to the bottle and glaring at it like it had insulted her.

Natasha had arrived, unsurprisingly, ahead of schedule. But she wasn't the first one here. Two other girls had already arrived.

She’d heard some people talking about it at breakfast. They didn't want to be heard, but Natasha had heard them anyway. A hexed bottle. Secret society. She’d been excited ever since.
She dropped into a seat and crossed her legs. Smooth robes open atop her blue sweater, hair falling loose as it usually did. Natasha looked comfortable. She felt comfortable.
Sort of.

Okay, so the whole “Circle’s Silence” aspect was genius; she’d give them that. What goes on in this circle stays in this circle. Literal enchantments backing it up. Nobody gossiping about it afterwards. She could get behind that. She didn't want any of her secrets to be public.

Less behind was the bottle itself. Hexed by who? Oh, right. Some Divination professor. Mum always told her Divination had a knack for finding out things you wanted to stay hidden. Natasha liked it less knowing that detail.

She entered the courtyard. This should be where it was taking place.
"Is this the cursed bottle thing?"
She wasn't really sure why she had joined. Probably to get juicy secrets. But she also had no flipping clue what she’d do if that bottle pointed at her.

Ava wasn't one to call herself brave or lion-hearted but still, here she is, for the cursed bottle game. At first, she thought it would be like a normal bottle flip game she used to play during sleepovers. But when the rumours started about it being cursed, the girl hesitated a bit. Is it still a good idea to go? Thoughts of just not showing up clouded her mind, until the curiosity inside her finally made her step into the courtyard.

It wasn't hard to find the setup, as it looked out of place from the rest of the theme of the courtyard. She loved how everything looked vintage and gothic, matching the vibe of the rumoured game. The girl noticed there were a few students already sitting on the cushions laid on the velvet rug. "Uhm. . . hello," she muttered nervously, sitting down on an empty cushion.

Still questioning her choice of joining this, she nervously sat down. Looking around, finally getting a clear look everyone, she did not recognise anyone. But that was her least of the worries. She still had second thoughts of just turning away. What if they asked about. . .? No, she don't want to tell everyone, she still haven't told her best friend about it.

I first heard about the game at dinner, last night. A rumour about a cursed bottle. Whispers between cracks about people who played the game and never came back.

At first, I didn't want to go. I had absolutely no reason to go there, after all, I had more things to do today.

But at breakfast, the whispers went on. More and more people were talking about it. In the end, I had no choice but to go. After finishing my class, I had some time left before the next one, so I quickly changed my clothes to some more casual ones and headed towards the courtyard.

I needed to see with my own eyes what was all the show about.

The first thing I noticed was the vibes of the place. Whoever did this definitely did their effort. I recognized that. There were some other girls sitting there at the circle, so I took a seat, not knowing if I was on time or too late.

The air was colder than usual, I crossed my arms with a frown. I barely recognized a girl or two from the circle. Maybe from shared classes or glances at the halls. This was going to be fun.

1) While everything written is true for Dido, much is intentionally incorrect (eg: Dido is not in Ravenclaw)
Dido had watched Mikaela at dinner.

She hadn’t watched the girl- she wasn’t obsessed- but she had sat near the end of the Ravenclaw table, “reading” her Charms textbook and occasionally glancing across the table, a few people down the row, towards Mikaela Hendricks.

As part of this focus on the Ravenclaw, Dido had been privy to the exact same hissed conversations she had noticed though, concentrating on her book, Mikaela and not smashing her food against the side of her face, Dido hadn’t actually heard anything.

So how did Dido find the group? She was sitting, proudly sporting her Ravenclaw badge and writing in her journal in perfect, painstakingly slow and difficult, cursive handwriting she had tried so hard to imitate. In truth, the content of what she was writing didn’t matter. It was vapid nonsense. But to Dido, it felt like a true, artistic and academic outpouring of her soul into the cream pages. She was just getting into a flow-state of gibberish when, out of the corner of her eye, her gaze instinctively jumped towards the characteristic braid which swayed slightly behind the girl.

Without much thought, Dido rushed to pack away her journal before slowly, seemingly aimlessly, began to follow Mikaela, subconsciously making sure to stay far enough away to avoid potentially unpleasant notice. Eventually, Dido saw Mikaela stop near a group of girls who were sitting in a circle. Unfortunately, Dido didn’t halt her speed quickly enough and somehow found herself in a central part of the courtyard, unable to dart behind any walls or trees or even pretend she was just heading in a different direction.

So, swallowing nervously, Dido straightened up, head her head high and pasted a look of determination onto her face. She definitely knew what this was! And, finally, with a confident smile, Dido took a seat with the other girls.

xx the cursed bottle xx
The days in Hogwarts passed to quick. The Sorting day had happened long before and, althought, it seemed that it occured few days before. One of the only evidences that it had passed months was the huge amount of rumours and trends that had been in the air, floating and always seeming that would stick forever, what was just a hope. At the moment, the top rumour was an event. A curious event, really. Some kind of truth or dare, but with antique ancient vibes. Marvellous! Her brother Harry would just love those vibes, but the activity in itself errr... No. But Alex, Alex found both the vibe and the activity intriguing, amazing.

Alex's case of knowing about what would occur wasn't the most unusual of the cases, happening in the end of a class. It was a Transfiguration or Charms class? Alex didn't remember. The only thing that she remembered was that after hearing some whispers, she rushed into the Gossip Queen, no one but Lily Adams. She told her the details, including that no one really knew it all, as diferent versions of the story walked through the corridors.

So it was finaly the day when the cursed bottle will be in action. Walking untill the place, she wondered. Some people's steps where in the same direction as her steps, she'll have company. Yay? Yay.

A hole ambient had been settled down. The ancient vibes intention was well shown. The red carpet framed by cushions laid on the grass, on a spot that not everyone could find. There was already a group of people meeting there. "Haya guys! Alex here, you...?"

the cursed bottle
Denise wasn't the type to believe in rumors. In fact, she opposed it strongly, considering how she was once a victim herself.

Clearly, her first instance of magic gone wrong did not help at all. She didn't mean to set Olivia Campbell's clothes on fire, but of course, everyone believed she did it intentionally and was shunned.

A couple of months after the incident, Denise hoped the rumors would die down in her small town in Comrie.

No. No. No.

The marketplace was still ever familiar; she was in a hood and coat and approached two ladies selling onions and garlic for about a pound per pack. It was a good deal, due to the onion and garlic surpluses in Comrie.

The older woman in the hood looked and gave it to her, smirking, "Well, Denise, I heard you joined The Daniel Clan... well, dear, didn't expect it from you. You must be going on drugs, opioids, that kind of stuff..."

The Daniel Clan is a rival gang in Scotland, along with The Lyons Family, basically drug cartel gangs that also do a fair bit of money laundering. Denise was so shocked that she didn't even respond. After paying the woman, she ran back home and locked herself up in her room. Her grandmother brought the rest of the groceries and didn't say anything.

She didn't have to.

When she heard about the rumors of the bottle, she didn't believe it. Clearly, it has no sentimental value to Denise; it was just a bottle with likely a few jinxes to scare people off. The rumors were started by Crystal Theodora, and she saw posters and heard rumors everywhere. What does it mean? Truly, it meant nothing?

Curiosity kills the cat; she felt her grandmother whisper.

A truth or dare night. Denise can't believe it. She was so tempted. Maybe the bottle felt her pain and invited her in; it sure did. She came in an old stone archway, seeing ten mismatched cushions.

Seven people were already sitting on it.

Well, it's time. She sat on the eighth cushion, nervously sitting and adjusting herself carefully. It was still dark, with the lanterns giving a faint glow. She saw Marcella di Angelo and Natasha Blackwood, whom she had interacted with before in clubs and events, but didn't recognize anyone else yet.

What is there to come? Denise didn't know and waited...

The moment she had heard of the whole ‘Cursed Bottle thing’ something in her had been inclined to it instantly. It was the name that radiated of this energy, something she couldn’t really place. So of course, the moment she had heard of it, she had gone running after her best friend, Lauren Vanes. Where Bri went, Lauren went, and vice versa.
It had all started when she had seen the posters on the walls wherever she went. At first, she didn’t lay much attention to it, but the third time, she actually paused to read it.
Just as she read the first few mind started racing and imagining how thrilling it would be. How many secrets would be revealed.
After some time of her seeing the posters, rumours started spreading, some genuinely insane, some which were questionable, and some which could actually pass off as real. All in all, the while thing just got more and more intriguing to her.
Did she have that many secrets? A few, sure, but nothing of much importance. However, it would be nice to hear others, tea would surely be spilled that day, and she needed to be there for every bit of it.
On the particular day, she had been really excited, and had ran down to the courtyard as soon as it was time, pulling Lauren with her.
The atmosphere was amazing, iron lanterns arranged in a circle, and the main attraction- the bottle.
As she approached the people, she waved and spoke, “ Hey all! I’m Briar, nice to meet you!”
