Initiation.
It was 7 pm, a few hours before curfew. It was creepily dark outside for in April, so I got out a quill, parchment, and the strange little notebook.
It was during the Christmas holidays when I'd found the notebook, high up on the top shelf of a barely used bookcase in the library. I'd spent the rest of the day reading the tiny writing inside it, determinedly trying to make out the words. Once I realised what it was about, I knew I had to continue the tradition,
Now, I copied out the words in the notebook onto tiny squares of my parchment.
Then, I walked down to the boathouse, where I sat, waiting for people to arrive.
@Julia Evans, @Nick Jameson, @Zephyr Deakin, @Ethan L Young, @George Calder, it is now your time.

Then, I sent the letters off. I put on black trousers, and a black knitted jumper, and put on my plain black school robe, with the hood up. I put my wand into my pocket, alongside a quill, and the notebook. So you wish to join the wandmakers?
Come down to the boathouse at 7.30pm, and follow these rules:
1. Wear all black, no jewelry.
2. Bring your wand, and your wand only.
3. Most importantly, tell no-one.
Yours,
The keeper of the journal.
Then, I walked down to the boathouse, where I sat, waiting for people to arrive.

That's what the note seriously said. Wear black, no jewelry. I had to dig through my closet. All I found was a puffy black dress. You have this? I thought. The no jewelry thing was also kind of strange. But I followed my gut and just put the dress on with no jewelry. I tucked my wand into my sleeve. This note to me was kinda sketchy but something told me, go. I snuck out of the dorm room and went to the boat house. It was a bit of a long walk and it got quite chilly. I was worrying that my outfit was 'overdressing.' I couldn't find anything else. I had put my hair into pigtails and found a simple black headband. I looked very unlike myself wearing dark colors like this. I usually wore a pink outfit when i wasn't in school. Or blue. Or anything pastel. I did a lot of thinking on the way down to the boathouse. I first thought about the analysis of the day. Pretty Good... I said. Another thought was, I better not get kidnapped. Well then I kick them in the shin. I thought. Like I said, lots of thinking. I finally got down to the boathouse. I spotted someone, well someone's shadow. "Hello, are you the Keeper of The Wands?" I asked staring. Better not get kidnapped. I thought.

Zephyr read the note twice when it arrived, he even turned the small piece of parchment over in his hands and stared long enough for something to happen but nothing. He’s starting to believe that some of the clubs at Hogwarts love mystery and therefore love to test their members when inviting for gathering. This isn’t the first time he received a note like this, but at least now, he could trust the authenticity of it. The first time he received a mysterious invite, he threw it to the fireplace only to find the place it mentioned in the letter. This one was easy to discern, it was from the wandmaker club and he’d been waiting for this for a while now.
Ever since the day he bought his wand, he’s been wondering about how it was created, how does it react to someone, how does it choose a person to be its owner? Or is it the other way around? All he knew was that there was sudden warmth in his hand, like a strange pull, and that was it, it had become his wand. His dad said it was normal, that it meant the wand had chosen him but no one can explain to him why. What was it reacting to? What made it decide? What even was a wand, really? He grew up in the muggle world, this is something that’s out of their logic despite having toy wands there.
So when he heard there’s a group wandmakers, students who studies wands and their cores, he signed up right away. If there was even a chance they could explain it, then he had to try. And that’s was how he ended up here. He was on his way to the boathouse, dressed in black ensemble as requested. He put his wand in his back pant’s back pocket. He reached the boathouse, eyes sweeping around the area.
There were students already there. “Hi…” he greeted the two girls.

Corra turned the note over in her hands, hoping it was enchanted and something would happen if she waited for a while. After reading the letter over and over again and examining it carefully, Corra's curiosity grew; she had to come to the boathouse or she wouldn't sleep in peace. So she rummaged through her pile of clothes (which was already in disarray) to find the black outfit she had. In fact, Corra wasn't sure she owned any black outfit. Dark blue, dark green, maroon red, oh, she found a black shorts, black stocking, and a black peacoat. Pair it with her black boots and that's the perfect outfit. Lucky me.
Corra looked at her reflection in the hand mirror she was carrying. Oh wait, i almost forgot. She put down the mirror and took off the white ribbon she was wearing. Her appearance wasn't like the typical Corra. Without her white ribbon or pigtail, Corra felt like a completely different person. Anyway, she put her wand in her peacoat pocket and sneaks out of the dorm.
Corra loves exploring. She explores around her house, her grandparents' mansion, and at Hogwarts. She had already circled Hogwarts and memorized the routes, that's why she has no trouble getting to the boathouse, even if it's getting dark. Arriving at the boathouse, Corra saw several people already gathered. Two girls and a boy who seemed to have arrived around the same time as her (yeah, maybe he came first, a little earlier than Corra).
That evening was completely silent except for the sounds of insects and animals that Corra could barely recognize. Breaking the silence, the boy greeted them “Hi…”
"Hello," Corra replied to the boy's greeting. "It's a bit windy this evening,"

The darkness of night is such a mesmerising weather for the little girl, Harumi could lose herself in it for hours, thinking about nothing and everything all at once. Tonight, however, wasn't going to be one of those nights she would spend alone, because she wanted to join the wandmakers.
----She didn't think much of it, they were probably going to meet once a week and talk about wands, that's all, right? Apparently not, because she received a letter with curious rules. Boathouse at 7.30 pm, all black clothing, bring only a wand, and tell no one. Sounds less like the rules of a wand discussion club meeting, and more like a secret community meeting, Harumi liked that, she liked anything strange, and this was strange enough to capture her interest immediately.
----It wasn't hard to find some dark clothes in her trunk, she picked the first thing she saw, a black t-shirt and a baggy black jeans, simple and follows the rules, perfect! She left the dorms and common room and started her walk to the boathouse. She purposefully left a little early, mainly to take her time in walking around and exploring.
----It wasn't long before she arrived at the boathouse, the first part she ever saw of Hogwarts that night on September 1st, it didn't seem to change much since then. She looked around for other students, when she saw 3 girls and a boy. She was already fairly familiar with the older Ravenclaw, Mirada, Harumi had joined a broom race moderated by her during March, and Zephyr was already her friend and fellow Hufflepuff. On the other hand she didn't know the other two girls well, so her first thought was to introduce herself, the first step towards a new friendship. "Hi, guys, I'm Harumi." She said quietly while waving. The calmness of the night made her feel like anything beyond a whisper was going to wake every sleeping soul up and it wasn't even late yet.

WC: 271Lily folded back the small piece of parchment after reading it for the third time. The mysterious words repeating in her mind. Once she'd heard about the Wandermakers club, she jumped at the chance of joining and was excited to finally get word of their first meeting. Yet, this sounding more like a cult gathering, but she quite liked this spookier aspect.
She couldn't wait to find answers about her wand. She's always wanted to know more about the core, how it works and the story behind it, and this was her chance. No more guessing, she would finally get real answers.
The letter had arrived mysteriously just now, and it had said the meeting was at 7:30 at the boathouse. The mysterious element was it's mention to wear all black and not bring anything other than her wand. Tell no one. That one was intriguing. She always loved anything mysterious, it was thrilling.
Lily changed quickly, black trousers, a black tank top with her black school robe to layer on. No jewelry as demanded which was a little unusual for her as she always had a necklace or rings. She slipped her wand into her pocket and got ready to head to the boathouse.
The castle corridors felt endless on her way here, her excitement taking over. Once she arrived to the boathouse, the night sky adding to the mysterious air, she noticed a few people had already arrived. She couldn't only see their shadows for now as they all dressed in black and the lighting was low. She took the final steps to enter, Hi, everyone," she greeted quietly.

WC: 349The letter found Campion as he walked the grounds after dinner. He read the letter again, now, as he tried to pick out clothes to wear. The letter was one he excitedly awaited after signing up in the first place, though he wasn't expecting it so soon. It was growing dark, but the weather was clear. Campion donned a pair of black shorts and a black t-shirt, then his school robes on top of that. To the boathouse... he hadn't been down there since the first year boat road in September, preferring to walk the grassy bits especially at the edges of the Forbidden Forest.
Campion was especially interested in wand lore. Having done some minor research on his own wand, he found that it suited his characteristics surprisingly well. Why that was, or if others had similar experiences, was entirely unbeknownst to him. He had found exceedingly little information on his core — troll tail hair — and had to extrapolate from information on trolls, mostly. Then again, he wasn't a strong reader, and he could have missed information. This method of obtaining information suited him much better.
The walk to the boathouse was long, but his calves had grown adjusted to the stairs leading out of the cellars at this point, and he walked plenty enough in the first place. He admired the candles that lit the halls and said hello to a few portraits and ghosts. Not knowing how sanctioned the group was, he elected not to tell any of them where he was heading.
When he finally arrived at the boathouse some few minutes before 7:30pm, he noticed a few familiar faces and a few unfamiliar faces. It wasn't a surprise to see Zephyr, for instance, and some other students he had seen around the halls or in classes. There was certainly more turn-out than he was expecting, though, and that made him nervous. Before his palms could begin to sweat, he wiped them off on the exterior of his school robes.
"Hello..." he said faintly as he arrived, taking his place amongst the other students.
"I'll gently rise and softly call: 'Goodnight and joy be to you all!'"

I watched as people arrived one by one, exchanging small greeting with each other as they did. Finally, I stepped forwards, where there was a little bit more light than in the rest of the boathouse. I smiled at everyone.
"Good evening. Welcome to the first meeting of this group of the Wandkeepers. Before we begin, I would like to say how this all came about. One day, I was in the library, looking at the old books, when a little notebook fell on me. I read it, and read about this secret society of people studying their wands. But, it fell apart years ago. So, I decided to restart it, here, tonight."
I paused for a few seconds.
"There are still a few people missing, but we'll continue. They can catch up later."
I pulled my wand out of my pocket.
"23 cm chestnut wood and phoenix feather. A combination that shows a lot about me, when you dig deep into wandlore. 23 cm is long, meaning I am quite flexible in life, and able to adapt to changes. Chestnut wood is attracted to those who show talent in Herbology, taming magical creatures, and flyers. And phoenix feather is the rarest of the main three cores, and has a great power, when used correctly."
I smiled at everyone.
"I don't expect you to be able to say all of that about your wands yet. I have done a lot of research! But, none of you are initiated into the wandkeepers yet. For that to happen, following the instructions in the notebook, is very simple."
I held my wand in front of me, and said "Flagrate" while writing letters in the air. Flaming letters appeared, spelling out WELCOME. After a few seconds, they faded away.
I stepped backwards slightly.
"Stand in this bit of light, and cast your favourite spell. It can be any spell at all. Just, please don't hurt anyone, including yourself."

A total of 6 people were there.Yeah you definitely overdressed. I thought looking at everyone's outfits. They were ain balck sweatshirts and pants. I was in a full on dress. When I wasn't paying attention The Wandkeeper, as she called herself casted Flagerate. It spelled out Welcome. The Wandkeeper expected us to not know about our wands. "My wand is 26.1 cm, reasonably springy, blackwoodwood, unicorn hair... Excells at healing spells as well as hexes. 26.1 is a normal length. It means that I'm able to produce 'elegant' magic. Whatever that means. Blackwood is a wood that bonds with their owners through hard situations. Unicorn hair produces light magic and both the core and the wood are EXTREMELY loyal to their owners. I have it all down in a notebook." I pipped. I rarely breath when I'm talking. Today wasn't an exception. I did a bunch of research ony wand and indeed kept a notebook with everything about magic. I hate being an overachiever. But I also love being a perfectionist. I felt eyes on me. I turned red real quick. " Anyway," I continued. I searched the ground for something I could cast a spell on. I pointed my wand at a shell. It was rather small. " Engrogio!" I said with confidence.

Not wanting to be distracted from eating, TJ had pocketed the letter she'd gotten in the Great Hall. When she finally checked her message, it was already 6 pm. And she was an incredibly slow runner.
Boathouse at 7pm? And I need to change?! she thought, running to the dorms as fast as possible.
Today, she was wearing dangling silver luna moth earrings, which certainly wouldn't do for this clandestine meeting! The heavy weight of the metal disappeared as she haphazardly placed them on her bedside table, unburdening her pierced ears.
Then, she changed out of her school robes that were heavily accented with Ravenclaw accessories. She rummaged through her clothes to find black ripped skinny jeans and a Monster High-themed black long-sleeved crop top. In case it was cold at night (which it almost always was), she also took out her old school jumper, which was completely black, and tied it around her waist. Finally, she wore her shiny new lace-up Doc Martin boots that she had begged her parents to buy for her for weeks before the start of the term, upon which they gave them to her as a gift.
Do belts count as jewelry? TJ wondered before deciding not to wear one just in case. The jeans were high-waisted anyway.
"Now, wand... wand..." She patted her pockets as if they'd fit in the fake sewn-on pockets. "Ah, there!" She collected it from where she'd thrown it on her bed while she was getting ready.
She ran down the tower all the way to the boathouse, huffing and puffing. Looks like they already started!
"Sorry, I'm late, everyone! I'm here now." TJ announced, hunched over. "Are we...casting spells?"
