Cursed papers
This thread is to participate to the origami errand, feel free to join me.
I was bored and I decided it was time to move and to explore the castle. I hadn't had the chance to do so since the beginning of the year because I was always trying to do homework - and was often distract by something - or trying to find Alex and was also often diverted from my goal. Once again I will be doing something else than just discovering the castle, but it didn't matter, I was getting fun and that was the most important thing.
Indeed, when I arrived in the entrance of the castle - after getting lost because I thought following the indications of an old painting would help me - I saw that something unusual was happening in the Great Hall. Usually between meals, the door was closed and no one was able to come in.
My curiosity led me to come into the room and afterward, I would say that it was not a really good idea. Several stacks of paper were on long tables. They were also some tutorials to know how to do this activity. As I read it, I saw that it was something called "origami". Unfortunately, I immediately get excited about this thing. That was before I started trying to make one of those.
I chose to make a dragon as I always had been enthusiastic about this kind of creatures. They were majestic and sooo mysterious ! I had the misfortune to thought that if they were only nine steps, that would be easy and that I will be able to explore the castle after this quick activity. I was not ready to spend the entire afternoon doing this. I took a red paper and spoke to myself :
" Okay Riley let's concentrate. So the first step is to fold the paper diagonally. Then I need to fold it horizontally and vertically. Easy."
Without any difficulty, I reach the step number four. Then I didn't really understand what to do. I raised an eyebrow and stayed like that for an infinite time. At that precise moment, I realize step number nine was not the last one. They were still 45 steps after that to have the final dragon. I was dead.
" Come on Riley, you can do it !"
My tongue was a bit out of my mouth as I tried to stay focus on what I was doing. But I was lost.

Cursed papers
Phel entered the Great Hall, his clothes soaking wet after being drenched by the outside storm He sneezed and shook his head, drops of water falling on the ground from his head like a dog. It would be no surprise if the boy ended up catching a bad cold in the following days. And Phel was raging about it, for he hated being sick.
Weather was, in his opinion, the biggest problem on the British Isles. It was not the rain, the wind or the cold that was bothering Phel : but the unpredictability. Today was one great example of the said randomness: earlier this morning, Phel had decided to go for a walk to enjoy the rising sun and the light breeze that came with it. It only took an hour for clouds to cover the blue shade of the sky, and around ten minutes for them to start setting free the water imprisoned in them. Phel, as lost in thoughts as ever, only realised the weather had changed when it started raining on him...
The Eagle grabbed the bottom of his wizard robe and wrung it out to dry it. He then decided to enter the Great Hall. He was hoping to find someone he knew that could go in the dormitory to get him dry clothes ; he refused to climb the entire castle with a wet robe. Looking around him, he saw other students in his case. At least, he would not catch the attention.
He entered the Great Hall and noticed another person with a Ravenclaw outfit. He walked in his direction.
Phel sat next to the person, and opened his mouth to ask help; he however remained silent. The person was a girl. Phel's plans were ruined, for she could never enter the boy's dormitory. While he was about to leave to look for someone else, his eyes catched what the girl was doing with her hands. It looked like... she was playing with paper ? The boy noticed a tutorial next to her. From a quick comparison between the two, he understood she was stuck at the fourth step.
- Hey, huh, do you need a hand ? I'm Phel...
Not waiting for his answer, he added, pointing the two extremities of the paper :
- You need to fold up the two sides shaped like a squared triangle, here and there.

#3DFF9E is a bright colour, I'll agree, but that way I'm sure you pay attention
It's not about keeping Gryffindor around so we can save the school ; but about whether we should kick Slytherin out so we don't have to save the school.

I was so concentrate that I hadn't noticed the boy who has just arrived. I analyzed him as he sat next to me. The first thing I saw was that he was completely wet. It was probably a good thing that I stayed in the Great Hall instead of exploring the outside of the castle. I am not crazy, when I see that it is raining I am not going outside if I can avoid it. However, I had learnt since I was here that sometimes it starts to rain even if it was sunny two minutes before.
Then, I remembered that he was also a first-year Ravenclaw student. I have never talked to him before even if we were always together. I mean, not really hanging out together, but we followed the same lessons and we shared the same common room. Plus, at the table he was often sitting diagonally to me. Of course, I had already observed him and he frequently looked like he has his head above the clouds.
" Hi Phel, I'm Riley ! Well... " I looked at the paper between my hands in disappointment. " I guess I need a hand... I thought a paper dragon could be really cool but as you can see, I didn't get a gifting for origami when I was born. I assume my sister took all of the creativity... "
When Phel gave me his instructions, I immediately started to follow them. Then, I succeed alone the next steps. Open it, return it, fold into triangle. It was not so hard was it ? I stopped suddenly at step 16. What were these arrows ? The explanation were really bad or maybe I was not really good. I gave Phel a desperate look.
" I'm stuck. Again. Maybe, you could try to do it, it's gonna be faster. Also, moving will help you dry your clothes. "
I gave him the paper, put the instructions in front of him and tried not to distract him. It was not usual for me but I knew that if I wanted to get a paper dragon I had to stay quiet. Plus, around us the room was calm, the only thing that could be heard was the noises of the paper folding and the scissors on the paper. House elves were staying in the room too in order to give the origamis the ability to move. Phel was carrying all my hopes to get a beautiful paper dragon.

Cursed papers
It'd rained again. April Showers apparently not pulling any punches this year since it was starting to eat into May...He loved rain, loved the cold and storms and just everything that came with it but he'd also been looking forward to squandering his free time by quidditch pitch. With this weather though? Simply put, his books and papers weren't going anywhere near outside for the time being.
Seeing the grounds as a bust he'd taken to wandering back near the stairs, set on dropping his bag back off in the dorms but then he'd noticed people wandering into the Great Hall. Curious he'd simply popped in to take a peak at what had people dropping by when it was nowhere near time for a meal. He was met with the sight of a few pockets of students seated hunched over pieces of folded paper and talking to each other, a few most likely helping each other out if the way some of them were trading papers and pointing things out was any indicator.
Walking closer alongside some of the other newcomers he let his eyes wander, taking in what looked to a finished project judging by the delighted squeal a girl at another table gave, the piece of paper she'd been working on fluttering for a moment before swooping around her head. A raven, he'd realized taking another look at the papers. He could see the tutorial she'd used.
"Oh, so they get enchanted." he hummed, watching as a house elf did something to what looked like a lion origami for the boy who'd brought it to her.
"I guess it can't hurt to try," he muttered to himself, shouldering his bag to grab a piece of light blue paper.
Sweeping a quick look over the hall he simply walked over to a mostly uncluttered table, past a few Slytherin girls and a Hufflepuff boy over to the end of the table and across of what appeared to be Ravenclaws. He moved to put his bag down, catching what looked to be the beginnings of a dragon in the girls hands as he sat. Pushing his bag to the side and plopping the paper down he looked up for a moment, for the first time actually taking in the very soaked appearance of the boy pointing out instructions for his friend.
"By Merlin you're soaked," he gasped, eyeing him critically, "Jeez, did you get caught in the storm out there?"
Why on earth was he still in those wet rags? That wouldn't do. Jeez, he'd accidentally drip on his friends work with how close he was! And get sick while he was at it.
Frowning he turned to his bag, dragging out his own Gryffindor robes he'd stuffed in there when on his way to the grounds. The other needed it far more than he did at the moment, Elsian's own black pants and matching turtleneck all too dry compared to the sight in front of him. At the least the other could use it as a makeshift towel or don it to keep the chill out.
"Here." he simply offered, leaning forward slightly to offer the dry clothing over, "at least until you can get a little more dry."
Looking away as he relaxed back in his own seat he caught the sight of the girls instructions. Wincing at all the steps that...looked far more complicated than the simple unicorn he was going to tackle himself.
"That...is a lot of steps." he said wryly, already looking down at his own paper to quickly fold it, "You're either mad determined or just really want a dragon to suffer through that." Following the first and second steps rather easily he moved onto step 3, his fingers carefully pining the paper as he moved it into place.
