A cool breeze blew across the girl’s face, hair blowing in every direction as she listened to the tapping of her boots on the cobblestone path. Everything felt lighter, like everything that had been settling on her shoulders over the last few months had finally fallen away. It was great to be back.

With a faint click, her walking stopped and Logan looked up at the school looming over her. Her brothers had long since disappeared into the school, running ahead to find their friends, leaving the seventh year to finish the trek alone. It was nice to have the time to settle her thoughts, though.

It had been nearly six months since she had last seen the halls of the old school. From the outside, nothing looked like it had changed in the slightest, but it was the inside that seemed to change at every moment. What could have possibly happened in her absence?

Six months she had spent away from the school. Six months away from her friends and peers. Anything could have happened in that amount of time.

Questions and concerns flew through her head faster than ever, heavy anxiety making its way into her chest. There were only a few months left of the year, then it was time for graduation and off to be an adult. There was a lot the Hufflepuff had to catch up on in that short amount of time. Her hand gripped the edge of her robe tightly, shifting her focus into the action rather than her thoughts.

Taking another glance at the school, Logan could spot faint movement through the windows. She could not put off going in much longer, probably looking quite strange, just standing outside the doors, frozen in place. She would need to get settled into her dorm again, get Alby comfortable.

Speaking of the tiny orange kitten, Logan should feel him shifting around in her pocket, having fallen asleep at some point. It almost brought comfort to her, knowing she had someone with her to keep her grounded, even if the kitten had more anxiety than she did.

Feeling another gentle breeze shift her hair, Logan took a deep breath before finally shifting her weight forward. Sitting out here was not going to do her any good.

“Well, no better time than now.” The dark-haired girl muttered as her left hand reached down to run over Alby’s head. With a tug, she pulled her trunk along behind her as she made her way to the doors of the school, feeling mostly prepared to enter the chaos she had surprisingly missed.
