Hogwarts Choir Club - The First Meeting

Simon entered the Rehearsal Room for that Sunday in May for the countless number time. He had been such a frequent inhabitant of the space that some of the portraits even murmured a kind welcome, addressing him by name and Simon flashed them a smile as he waved. He set up some up some chairs, arranging them nicely for Kennedy, and greeted her as well quickly before giving her some time to prepare for her first big meeting.

This was exciting. He wanted Hogwarts to have a school choir. He remembered reading back when the Hogwarts Choir would sing at Christmastime and harmonize with large toads - but this was a more modern approach it would seem.

When she began speaking, Simon brought out some parchment and a quill from his brown leather enchanted satchel in case he should want to write out any notes and listened. When it was hinted that it would be a good time for him to speak, he stood and approached the front.

"Hello fellow schoolmates," he said with a bright smile. "I'm Simon Kincaid, Sixth Year Hufflepuff, former prefect, current broom racer, writer for the Headliner, intern for the Hospital Wing, and leader of the school's club of both wizarding photography and magical medicine." He hoped that didn't sound concieted. He wasn't trying to get any kind of recognition here, merely wanted to introduce himself and show that he was active within the student body since there were some fellow classmates he hadn't interacted with before. Simon wasn't a boastful individual at all. "My favorite music is Motown from the States and singers like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. It's brilliant to see so many of you here today. I think Hogwarts has needed something like this for awhile and I feel like we're becoming part of something special."

"I want to thank Kennedy Cheek for getting this club started. It was her idea and she put it into action. You're giving us an opportunity to fill these corridors with beautiful sound, to put a voice to Hogwarts, and also providing us an opportunity to build friendships."

"For me, personally, choir's been more than just singing. I grew up in London, singing with my church choir and some of my best memories are from there. Together we were a part of something bigger than ourselves and we built such strong friendships which I still hold true today."

"It's something I'm hoping we can build here at Hogwarts. I'll be helping out as tenor section leader so if you're a fellow tenor my apologies but you're stuck with me," he smiled. In reality, he had some ideas to make it the best section the choir. "But I'm looking forward to working with all of you. We'll figure this all out and make something we can be proud of. This choir will be a place where people want to be, somewhere we can laugh and somewhere we can support each other - and make some good music along the way. Welcome to choir. May this become one of the best things you look back on when thinking of your time at Hogwarts."

He hoped it wasn't too wordy, but as someone who was the head of two school clubs, he knew the time and energy one put into it. The idea was the first step but implementing it and putting it into action required so much effort. He wanted Kennedy's idea to succeed and hopefully everyone else in the Rehearsal Room that day wanted it as well.

I walked into the amazing rehearsal room for Choir! Oh my gosh I was SO excited. I put on a cute pink outfit with a Ravenclaw head band cause why not? Although it was a bit annoying that I wasn't a section leader because I just needed to be the best of the lead otherwise I was replaceable. But my TWIN aka birthday twin, was running the Choir so I obviously had to join. "Hi Kennedy!" I said waving to my friend. "Nick's conducting? That'll be...Fun." I added. Nick could sometimes be a bit grumpy. I was instructed to let people get to know me. "Hello everyone! Im Tina Carille , I 'm a soprano. And my experience is...I was a Matilda on West end...I love to sing!" I wondered if I sounded like a pick me cause I mentioned that. "Oh and im a first year Ravenclaw. And my FAVORITE song is Happy For You by Dua Lipa. She's a great Muggle artist." I said with a broad smile. I almost forgot to mention that. I looked around the room and sat down on a table and started humming my favorite song. That humming changed into lyrics. The sound was sweet and crisp. I swung my legs a bit and waited for everyone to come. Oh how excited I was.

I was really excited today as it was the first meeting of the Hogwarts Choir. I always loved singing, and it was amazing to have this opportunity at Hogwarts. I entered the Rehearsal Room brimming with energy. Some students had already arrived and were seated in a circle. I quickly took a seat besides them. Soon, a Hufflepuff girl stood up. She welcomed us all and introduced herself as Kennedy, the founder of the club, and Soprano section leader. She then introduced the other section leaders and the conductor. We were then asked to introduce ourselves. The other students introduced themselves one-by-one.

Then, it was my turn, I stood up and smiled, "Hi everyone, I'm Avery Abernathy. I'm a first year. My voice part is Soprano, and I was part of the choir at my muggle school." I had to name a favourite song, but I had tons of those, which one should I choose? Suddenly, a song popped into my head, Aha! I'll choose this one, I do love this song. I continued, "I have loads of favourite songs, and it's too hard to choose just one, but I'd say 'Heart Attack' by Demi Lovato, she's a muggle singer. I really love to sing, and am really excited to be here today." I sat down quite cheerfully, and listened to the other students.

It was a lovely day outside, and Riley was quite excited for her choir club meet. Riley was in an awful lot of clubs, and she wondered to herself how she kept up. Riley smiled as she finally reached the rehearsal room where the meeting would take place. There were a few members already in the room, and it looked like introductions were in order. First Riley spotted Kennedy, the club leader. The second familiar face she spotted was one of her closest friends and dorm mate, Tina! Riley smiled, her blue eyes gleaming. She didn’t know Tina was in this club too, but It made sense, because Tina was a very talented girl. Kennedy had a sort of nervous energy, but nevertheless, she began to speak. "Uhm- Hello everyone," The leader’s voice wavered a bit, but she was still sure. "thank you for coming today." Riley nodded kindly. "I'd like to formally invite you to the first meeting of the Hogwarts Choir. My name is Kennedy and I am the founder and soprano section leader. Simon is our Tenor section leader, Cassandra will be leading the altos, and Nick is our conductor." Riley didn’t know any of the people she mentioned, but she was happy she could meet new people. "We are very glad to have you here today, uhm what if we begin by taking a seat in a circle." Riley was aware of the other members there too, but naturally, she sat next to Tina. "I'd like to start with everyone introducing themselves, their voice part and experience, and uhm- their favorite song. If you don't mind I'll start. As I already said, my name is Kennedy and I am a soprano, specifically a soprano 1 and have been doing choir for 3 years. I listen to a lot of muggle music and love 'The Archer' by smiled. She loved speaking in front of new people, so this was set to be a great day. The first one to speak was an older boy helping Kennedy introduce the club and he talked a lot. The next one to speak was a girl with black hair and a mysterious aura. She spoke clearly yet a tiny bit tentatively. The next to speak was Riley’s friend, Tina. She spoke in her usual friendly and steady manner. After Tina, a cheerful-looking girl spoke. She said something along the lines of the others, and Riley realized everyone was looking at her waiting for her to go next. She stood up confidently and cleared her throat before speaking. ”Hi all! My name is Riley Bluescar, I’m a first year in Ravenclaw, and I’m so excited to meet you all! I’m a pureblood, but my favorite muggle song is Heather by Conan Gray. I’ve never been in a choir group before, but I love to sing, and I’m an Alto-soprano.” Riley was beaming and her blue eyes were twinkling. She sat down confidently, happy that she was part of this club.
