The lake
River snuck off from his endless piles of homework and found himself by the large large.
He sighed and kicked some rocks in. He thought being a wizard would be so much more... fun. But he's just buried under homework like his Muggle school.
He sat at the edge tossing some rocks in and watching the ripples. He loved his new life. But also felt like it was in his normal life. Lonely. He never was good at making friends. He did have a few friends here at school. But he never really felt like he was fitting in.
There was this girl, everytime he saw her his stomach seemed to want to run out of his body and down the hall away. They were friends, but unfortunately they always seemed to just barely miss each other.
A few passing hi's and waves. He really wanted to talk to her. Even if it did feel like he wanted to puke butterflies when he was near her.
He skipped a rock over the water before it clunked in. He threw another, and another. Then some creature burst out of the water and threw a rock back at him. Then sank back into the water.
"Hey!" River shouted at the creature. "Can't i wallow in peace!?" He yelled at the now rippling water.
He sighed and flopped to his back in the warm grass. And closed his eyes. Not long after someone stood over him.

The lake
Laverne had just escaped all the piles of homework. It was really frustrating, having to do so much. But still, better than the muggle stuff. Coming to the Lake made feel nice. She constantly saw muggleborns throwing rocks in the water and the water creature (who had the emotional range of a teaspoon) throw them back. It was hilarious, but painful. No one except the halfbloods and purebloods knew that the water in Hogwarts was, let's say, different. A girl had gotten hurt on her forehead. But today a boy got hurt my it. She knew him. It was River. She was watching from far, but ended up going to him. She was really shy in front of him, she didn't know why.

But maybe she did. No it can't be that I like him. She lost that thought as soon as she went to him. Okay why do I feel like butterflies are gonna come soaring out my mouth. For a minute she was just staring at his. What am I doing? She sat beside him.
"Hey Riv, I remembered your name now... Are you fine? That must've hurt." She felt like she was gonna be ill. Calm down Laverne. It's just him... You aren't looking awkward. Am I???? He was looking confused. "Ohh yeah, I know that look," she said laughing, "You gave me the same look when your aunt teased us and when I told you I have to get food for my owl. Also when I showed the animal shop! She froze and blushed. How can she remember so much? And why did she show him that?

River kept his eyes closed until he heard someone sit next to him. Then he opened his eyes and saw Lav sitting there next to him. He sat up quickly, wiped the bit of blood from the rock hitting his forehead, and cleared his throat.
"Hey Riv, I remembered your name now... Are you fine? That must've hurt." She said.
"Oh yeah...heh... i'm glad you finally remembered," he rubbed the back of his head. "Not the worst injury I've had, nothing big. He couldn't help but stare at her, confused why someone like her was speaking to him. He was a lonely loser, and she was well. Amazing.
"Ohh yeah, I know that look," she said, laughing, "You gave me the same look when your aunt teased us and when I told you I had to get food for my owl. Also, when I showed the animal shop!"
He blushed and looked at the lake quickly, his ears burning. He couldn't understand why this girl had made him feel this way before. He's spoken to many girls before, but none made him burn up like the sun.
"I liked the animal shop, it was pretty fun..." he said. "It was fun with you," he blushed and turned back to the water. His heart was pounding so hard he was sure she could hear it.

"Oh yeah...heh... I'm glad you finally remembered," Laverne smiles."Not the worst injury I've had, nothing big." But his forehead was bleeding... A lot! "Wait Riv, ****! Lemme get a cloth." She felt if she had anything in her pocket. Yes! "Well," she takes it out "No need to get anything." She pours some water into her cloth and rubs it on River's forehead. "Well there you go. Never throw rocks in the lake. At least not in Hogwarts. And sorry for the swear. I swear, uhm, let's say too much. So just leave it. Okay was she talking too much? Laverne stops talking.

"I liked the animal shop, it was pretty fun..." he said. "It was fun with you," River suddenly found the interesting. So did Laverne. With me? Does he really mean that? Does he like me? Laverne heart started beating as fast as hell. She just nodded. She had to change the topic, she just had to. If she didn't, well she might just die out of shyness. None of the boy had made her feel like this. She had 4 good friends. Ryder, Madeline, Lily and Briar. She also had a friend Melissa. But this feeling was just unknown to her. And Ryder? He was a boy, but she had not had this feeling while talking to him.

The lake
She shouted a curse at the sight of his head bleeding. River chuckled, enjoying it. Before he could protest, she had pulled him close, wrenched his head to face her, and put the rag right on the fresh cut.
River blushed hard, their faces merely inches from each other. Her eyes were beautiful, and his heart began to pound in his ears. Her eyes reminded him of caramel; she also smelled very good.... His head started to swirl at her closeness and her touch. She smelled really good. He couldn't tell what she smelled like but he knew it was something he really really liked now.
He didn't even realize it, but he was getting closer. Leaning in as she cleened his cut. He didn't care about the cut; he's been hurt a billion times. Not even the first time his head was cut. He crashed his bike a few years ago, that permently left a scar that split his eyebrow down the middle. He never even put a bandage on it. But she cared, and that was more than enough for him.
His eyes drifted from her eyes to her nose, which was scrunching up in concentration as she wiped his head. "Cute..." he said under his breath. Then his eyes drifted down to her lips; she was biting her bottom lip in concentration.
