Being so caught up with her work, trying to carefully tend to the Dittany plant in her grasp, Kaitlyn was surprised by Simon’s words … and immediately snorted. Did she have a reputation for keeping plants? She honestly had no idea. Sure, she kept honking daffodil seeds and grew her own honking daffodil plant in her dorm room that she lovingly cared for. Other than her dormmates and anyone else she felt like disclosing it to, she had no idea just how many other students knew she did that … especially now that she was a prefect.

Then again, she was a young Slytherin student who kept a plant journal, spent her free time in the Herbology greenhouse, and was quite comfortable talking to the plants. If that didn’t scream ‘plant-lover,’ she had no idea what would. She was also very much an overthinker. Yet, why speak things into existence that she had no basis to think about, anyway?

Kaitlyn looked up from her work at Simon. “Don’t tempt me, I just might,” she spoke, already considering keeping the dittany plant. She already had notes about that very plant in her plant journal … along with one of her cute sketches. Of course, she was also slightly updating her journal as time passed. With her Hospital Wing Internship, she was identifying spells … potions … and plants that held healing properties. Dittany was one plant that did, after all!

A smile crossed her lips as she heard Simon engaging other students who littered the greenhouse. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before returning to her methodical work. It didn’t take her much longer to finish her careful tending of the plant.

Carefully … carefully … carefully … she removed a small cutting of the plant and immediately transferred it to a new pot. ‘Dittany is meant to heal wounds on its own … and when combined for a potion. But … what if the Dittany’s healing properties can be enhanced? More sunlight? Or maybe a potion added to the soil to act like a nutrient?’ She mentally proposed. ‘Ah … but … why not both?’

A careful smirk crossed her lips, before Kaitlyn extracted another careful cutting from the dittany. In one pot, she potted the dittany cutting, infusing a Lumos Solem spell into the soil. Sunlight is meant to help muggle plants. Perhaps the extra light could make Dittany more potent? She wrote a careful note mentioning her infusion of Lumos Solem in the dirt. Then, for the second pot … there were so many potions that could be applied for better healing. But, why keep the healing on just the physical?

Kaitlyn took a few moments to rummage through her enchanted satchel. It didn’t take long for her to emerge with a vial of Calming Draught in her fingertips. She potted the second Dittany cutting and poured some Calming Draught into the soil. She recorded this experiment, as well.

Finally, the young Slytherin raised her eyes from her work … her concentration ebbing. Kaitlyn noticed one of her Hufflepuff classmates near Station B. Kaitlyn offered a kind smile in her direction and decided not to bother her. It was often very easy to fall into her quiet demeanor.

I was glad that the leader of the club responded to me, actually saying that my idea might be a good one. I waited until he paused, before speaking.
"The silencing charm might work. But, even so, it would be just the same as with hardening the mouth with wax, because surely you would have to uproot it to cast the spell on its mouth."
Then, he asked if I worked in the hospital wing. I was surprised that he even knew my name. Although, he did say it wrong, but that didn't really matter. Lots of people did, putting the "n" into it, to make the more common name. "Yes, I'm an intern there now. Mirada."
The club leader helped set up my station with a potted mandrake, and set me off to cast the spell, saying he would be back soon to check on how it was going.
Then, I realised there was a problem. I didn't actually know the proper silencing charm. But, I did know mimblewimble, which was pretty much the same thing, wasn't it?
I pulled out my wand, and pointed it at the tuft of leaves sticking out of the pot. I cast the spell, hoping that casting the spell at the leaves would still work, affecting the mouth.
But, there was only one way to check if it worked - pulling up the mandrake. However, there were lots of other people around, who I didn't want to deafen if the spell didn't work. I stood there, staring at the plant, trying to work out what to do.

Checking on @Mirada Johnson

Simon took a walk around the Greenhouse, checking in on a few of those that came that afternoon. Everyone seemed to be engaged in at least doing something and he smiled, feeling as though this was a successful meeting of PULSE and he made mental note to have another session of some kind or another before the year's end. He also might try to invite members of PULSE out to St. Mungo's during the first couple weeks of holiday break when he was doing his summer 2-week intensive with them. He'd have to get permission from Healer Ketteridge or the like though. Surely something could be arranged.

When the one intern spoke to him, Simon smiled, glad that she kindly pointed out his mistake. He would certainly hate calling someone by their wrong name. Not everyone had a boring first name like Simon. "Mirada is lovely, my apologies," he corrected.

He helped a few others out and then returned over to where Mirada was stationed, checking back in as he said he would do. She chose mandrakes and honestly, they were such tempramental little things. Getting them to conform to anything seemed difficult but he was willing to try and assist if she was willing to put in the work.

"Need any assistance? I came to root you on," he said, stating a really bad plant pun that he almost immediately regretted. It probably took a second or two to set in. Simon wanted to be good with puns but he just seemed to always say the really bad sort of ones, not anything witty sounding like when his girlfriend AngelFyre said them.

Be kind to one another. (*iNPC is Miles Thatcher)
