There were already three pieces of crumpled up parchment on the floor. Alina stood at one of the desks, quill in hand, and scripted out some more words. "UGH!" she cried, crumbling it up quickly and tossing it unknowingly at yet another owl that darted out of the way so not to be hit with the paper. By now the owls were growing impatient with her and began vocalizing that. "You downright twits!" she sighed. "I want this letter over and done with MORE than you do! Trust me."

But it was no use. She had tried to write this letter hundreds of times. Her father had asked upon day one how her time at Hogwarts had been and since day one she had been lying to him. She didn't actually SAY she was in the Slytherin house, but she also didn't ever reveal that she hadn't and she made her twin sister promise not to state the truth either.

It was her lie to bear and lying to her father didn't seem right. She loved him...or at least she thought she did. She respected him growing up because he gave her everything she could possibly want and more.

No, today wasn't the day she would tell him. She placed her pad of parchment back into her back and put the quill away and turned to leave and thats when she saw a familiar face despite it being years since seeing her.

"Ana?" she asked curiously, almost not sure. "Anastasia Beckett? That you?"

Ana wanted to headbutt a wall. She had more than enough to deal with without her parents demanding letter after letter. She was seriously considering just telling them to go shove their wands someplace where they really ought not to go, but she felt as though that might not be received very well. She had finally written a long enough letter to sate them for the week. Honestly, had they not had enough of her in the year they'd been traveling? Ana knew that she had had more than enough of them.

She was finally dragging herself up to the owlery, which she had really not wanted to do. Last time she'd been here, the door had gotten stuck and long story short, Ana had had no other choice but to jump. Now, that had been quite exhilarating, but she wasn't planning to do it again since she had other things to deal with and she was pretty sure that going back to the hospital wing for the exact same thing this closely together would get her put on some kind of watchlist.

She released her owl and turned to go when she heard her name. Turning to see who had said it, she saw a familiar face that she hadn't seen since before she had started her own first year. "Alina, how are you, love?" she said brightly. The two hadn't been particularly close, but they had spent a decent amount of time together at parties and events that their parents had dragged them to and such. The term love was something that Ana had picked up when they were in France, and had kept because her parents had hated it and said that it was inappropriate and informal. Fast forward several months, and the Gryffidnro had taken to calling pretty much everyone "love". People's reactions were always different and always hilarious to Ana.

It was so incredibly nice to see a familiar face. First year at a new school could take a toll on anyone and it had been taking quite a toll on her. Alina took a moment to look over her friend and thought she seemed well put together. Maybe after one year of this place and people began to actually know what they were doing! Alina hoped so. ...If she'd get another year.

"Interesting letter to a prospective romance or stupid letter to demanding family?" Alina asked with a smile. It seemed most likely to be the later as parents seemed so persistent in knowing what their precious little ones were doing while away at school. Alina had been trying to write her father for some time but always seemed to fail to do so...at least failed to mention the important things.

Another owl returning from a delivery swooped in and nearly clipped Alina's hair and she ducked, letting out a scream. "Oh, I simply HATE this place!" she shouted. She wasn't sure if she meant the owlery in general or Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

She sighed and tried to fix up her hair but didn't put much merit into it.

Ana laughed at the girl's question. Love letters were vastly preferable to writing to her parents, but Ana didn't write too many of them. Generally, if something like that was important enough to write a letter, Ana would just go and talk to the person, since she wouldn't want some owl with something that personal frolicking Hogwarts. Ana had managed to make a surprising amount of enemies her relatively short time at Hogwarts, and she could think of several that would love to find something like that to hold over her head. Anyway, Ana was a person who was fairly straight forward and confident. If she really liked someone, she would probably just tell them.

"Unfortunately, it's the latter," she informed the other girl. She was about to inquire about the nature of the younger girl's letter when some owl decided that now was an ideal time to attack her. Alina's shriek amused Ana more than it really ought to have. If it was the owlery, Ana one thousand percent agreed. If she meant the school, Ana would have agreed with her about a year ago but would have vastly disagreed now. The school had allowed her to relax a bit and begin to discover exactly who she was, not who her parents wanted to mold her into being. "I take you're having a rough day?" Ana asked, arching an eyebrow.

Xiao, however, was also in the owlery. Frustration filled her as she tried to hint at magic in her letter without spilling the beans to Sasha that magic even existed, even if she did read the letter with her. She looked around and sighed.
"It looks like today is just a day of frustration.." She groans, feeling the atmosphere. She takes her bow off and looks at the very side of it. On it reads " Sasha Mikoyan, for my friend! " Xiao slams the bow onto the table and clutches the parchment. She grabs her quill and starts to scribble her messy calligraphy onto the paper. The sound of this scribbling disturbs the whole entire owlery.

Xiao suddenly places down the quill, her breath sharpening. She continues to write, the scribbling even louder.

She sweat to the point she took off her cloak and she wrote to the point she had to switch hands twice and she got so tired of the noise she covered her ears with said cloak. Maybe her frustration was driving her crazy, maybe she didn't know better, but she just kept scribbling! In the said letter, she went on and on about everything. The food, the magic, everything.

Caitlyn had come up to the Owlery to send off a reply letter to her mother and was expecting the melodious hoots of several different breeds of owl. However, the most prominent noise that greeted her was the immense noice of quill-scribbling. She looked around, trying to pinpoint where the sound was coming from, but the room was so echoey that it was just too difficult. Until she laid eyes on a fellow first-year Ravenclaw. Getting a bit annoyed by the constant scribbling, Caitlyn decided to walk over and speak to the girl. But everytime she got closer, the scribbling just drowned out all other noises. It was like she had an aura of overly-annoying noise surrounding her. Sighing, Caitlyn went over to one of the owls. While she herself didn't have an owl and neither did her family, the school were loaning her one. Well, really, she just picked it out because it looked cute, but that's not the point. She went over to Oscar (that was the temporary nickname she was giving it) and gently stroked it's head before putting the letter in front of it. Oscar spread its wings and picked up the letter in its talons, before swooping away into the distance. One down, another to go, Caitlyn thought to herself as she walked over to the girl with her fingers successfully blocking her eardrums from hearing the awful sound she was making. "Excuse me?" Caitlyn tapped on the girl's shoulder with her elbow but she kept on scribbling. Caitlyn sighed, before yelling at her, "If you're going to write with such force, make sure that your pen doesn't penetrate the table!"

"Oh! I'm very sorry! I didn't mean to make any noise. If I were trying to, you would have heard it from the rest of the castle by now." Xiao giggles, "And it isn't penetrating the table, I have layers of parchment under it." Xiao gets up and folds the letter then stuffs it into an envelope, then gets out some more parchment, and continues to write, yet a lot less loudly. If you paid more attention to the letter now, you would notice the name mentioned most is "Dash" rather then Sasha.
Xiao finishes this letter then starts on the next one. Then the next. Each had different names.
"This is gonna take FOREVER! I need to send about 100 letters to different people with the exact same wording in spite of the names-" Xiao banged her head in the table for a few minutes, then looks at the girl that had been most bothered by her scribble-scrabbling. "You have any idea of any shortcuts I can get to write this all faster?"
Xiao smiles at said female.
Xiao holds this smile for a little longer, waiting for a response. Her face grows stiff after only a few seconds.
Jeez, I need to get out more. My face already hurts...

When she had yelled at her like that, she had felt powerful. But, alas, all great things come to an end very quickly when they involve her. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realise there was parchment underneath..." she spoke this in a genuine manner, as she was feeling sorry for getting in such a huff about nothing. "So, uhh...have a nice day." And with that, Caitlyn turned her attention some place else. But a moment later, the girl asked her something. "Oh, well I can write some for you." She'd look at the Ravenclaw's face and how her smile was now beginning to deteriorate. "There's no need to hold a smile on your face for that long. Just smile for as long as you think is neseccary and not what you think the other person thinks is." She paused for a moment, realising how complicated that sounded. "Um...anyway, I'm Caitlyn. What's your name?" Caitlyn waited a bit for a response and stood there awkwardly, before continuing on, "Also, I'm sorry for yelling at you a few moments ago. It was an accident and I'm just having a rough time right now." She smiled a saddish smile while saying that last bit, but quickly tried turning it into a happy smile...not that it helped.
