Paul only flew several meters above the ground, three at most. He hardly reached the upper middle part of the trees in the forests around the lake. Looking down at his friend, he saw her broom didn't really listen, shaking and sometimes going in a different direction than she wanted it to go in.

First, he didn't move down. He just called: "Ya good down there?" Asked the boy, checking out how she was either feeling and doing. He guessed she needed more time to get comfortable with her broom. "You're doing good, just try to stay calm and carry on!"
Well, that was an advice worth billions, Turner, really. Have you got any other handy tips? Like, so long goes the pitcher to the well, that it comes home broken at last? What doesn't kill you makes you stronger? Oh please... Did the boy think caustically, bitterly. Strange, how both sayings could depict certain situations in their relationship.

Paul, however, wasn't burdened by that. He had no idea, actually. All he realised was, that he felt good with her. Whatever adventure might lie ahead of them, whatever silly, fun things the two of them would be up to, he knew he wished to be around her, because she was... well, the first person he met here, and the smartest, nicest, friendliest witch he knew.

Paul smiled, as he felt the wind blowing through his hair. A rush of adrenaline ran through him, making him lean to the left and turn upside down in the air. If his hair was as long as hers, she wouldn't have to go much upper to touch it or tug it. Paul clenched his legs around the handle of his broom and let go it with his hands, so that his whole torso was hanging in the air. Whoa, this is cool! Now I get it why Ellaine and Skylar enjoyed this position so much when we were flying. It's like... doing a headstand, with a way more beautiful view!

"Hey there!" He chuckled, waving at his friend, who looked really funny upside down.

"Come on, lift the handle to fly up a little more." He was further away so he had to rise his voice for her to hear.

Her final look made his heart melt. She managed to rise into a good height while he was loitering, but she still hadn't reached him.

So he took hold of his broom's handle again, swinging around to be able to fly again. Then, he descended to her level, close enough to reach to the left, to hold the handle of her broom and keep it still. He was aware that he wasn't supposed to be quite as near to her according to the rules of safe flying, but he decided he would make an exception for the aim of learning. "Dammit. Nasty brooms, these Cleansweeps." Hummed the boy. "Did you know they were quite old? I mean, they're not like... disfunctional, but still. There are way faster brooms out there. I'd love to try to fly such." Sighed the boy dreamily.

Her broom fortunately stopped shaking and Paul, therefore, let go of it. "There... now, the question is, if you want to fly any higher than this, or if you're fine with the height we're at. If the second, we can head towards the lake. Slowly, of course. If the first, we can try to fly higher together." Paul suggested the two options they had. He then shrugged, leaving the decision to her. "So, what do you want to do?"

Seeing as Paul spared her a reassuring smile, Corrine got overconfident for just a moment. In her greatest mistake yet, she looked away from her friend and onto the ground, which was growing in distance. Her breath hitched as she realized that, yes, she was in fact flying on her broom, and it was lifting higher than what she’s used to!

Oh god, she cried internally, her grip tightening on her broom’s handle. Her breaths were picking up quickly as her hands began to get clammy. Corrine never really thought of herself as somebody with acrophobia—that is, somebody who’s truly scared of heights, to the point of having it as a phobia—but this? The girl’s never thought of it as an unreasonable fear, but now it’s even more reasonable than before.

Paul was definitely speaking, considering his mouth was moving, but she couldn’t hear anything past the insistent ringing in her ears. Processing what little she could decipher, he seemed to be asking if she was doing alright. Maybe even some form of reassurance. Honestly, if it weren’t for the fact that Paul was around, she would’ve burst into tears. Again. His presence really helped, even though they weren’t side by side at the moment.

Speaking of that, however..

Corrine looked up, seeing Paul’s joyous smile as he flew through the air with his broom. Her heart warmed to see him like this, and it temporarily distracted her from her fears. He looks like he belongs, she smiled, relaxing. When Paul spared a glance to grin down at her, she returned it with a shaky wave, but she gripped her broom after. Corrine didn’t trust herself not to fall off if she didn’t grip it tightly. However, to stay at this height would be such a waste since Paul was all the way up there. With that in mind, she willed for the Cleansweep to go higher, but her broom wavered.

No! She freaked out with a gasp. The girl couldn’t stop herself from wrapping her arms around the handle, basically turning into a teary-eyed koala. Thankfully, Paul had reached a hand out and stopped her broom from getting any worse, which finally allowed her to process his previous dreamy expression. Something about wanting to fly faster racing brooms?

Corrine made a mental note of his wish for later on, instead deciding to focus on Paul’s next words.

She’s split on what to do. She did want to go higher, but with the way things are, it may not be the best idea.. but at the same time, it’s not like Paul wouldn’t be there. He’ll probably catch me if anything goes wrong, she tried to reassure herself. With him around, I’ll be okay. Probably.

With those thoughts in mind, the girl finally nodded.

Well, I wanted to fly above the crowns of the trees, to make the way to the lake as easy as possible, without all the zigzagging through the forests. But that won't be possible. Cor isn't ready for that yet. Perhaps later, when she gets more practise flying, but not yet. Ran through the boy's mind. But anyway, we can still have fun!

When she looked down, Paul moved his head to look into her eyes. "Hey... an advice? Don't look down, till you're not confident. That was the thing that would always make me nervous in the beginning.Took me quite a while to find out, but... here I am, not looking down when flying up, yay!" He then reached forward with a supportive, gentle smile, brushing the side of his index finger over the bottom part of her chin playfully, trying to make her lift her eyes.

"But, since I've whetted your appetite to fly higher..." Paul cracked a crooked smirk, slowly putting the handle of his broom up-ish, leaning forward to start moving. However, he only flew like one meter up, then settled the height and kept going forward. Paul chose not to ascend much higher. Cor seemed too shaken and the last thing he'd want, was to make her feel any more uncomfortable. "There... Having your cake and eating it too, is always a smart move, as my grandpa says."

He looked back at his friend, waving at her to follow. When she reached him again, he started leaning to the sides with his torso, likely to show her how to turn to a side. "Alright. Lesson one, turning." Did he start, leaning to the right. "As easy as leaning to the side that you want to turn to." After that, he turned to the left, to settle back to the straight direction he was heading before. He stopped though, turning to the right to turn around and check on her.

"Do you ski?" Asked the boy seemingly out of the topic, but it had its reason.

Honestly, why did witches and wizards decide brooms would be their mode of transportation? Why not something more stable and not so.. Vulnerable? For goodness sake, outside of Quidditch, Corrine could bet that most child wizards probably didn’t even bother wearing helmets. What were they thinking?!

Why couldn’t it have been something like.. A bike or something? A car? A part of her mourned the loss of what could’ve been. Flying cars, bikes.. Practically anything but a thin piece of wood with sentience to kick you off itself.

Alas, this universe wasn’t that, so she had no choice but to fake it until she made it. That is, if she wanted to keep up with Paul.. and she does. She really, really does. Time with him was just that precious, even if it meant having to brave her fears.

When Paul gave his advice in an attempt to help, the short girl froze in confusion. That wasn’t an idea that had popped in her head, which was surprising. She wished she had thought of that herself instead of having to be told. For goodness’ sake, avoidance was already a prominent way to handle fear, even if it’s not the wisest choice.

Not that she could do much about it now though.

Don’t look down, don’t look down! Corrine whimpered as she tried to lift her head enough to not pay attention. It didn’t work, which Paul was quick to pick up on. Coming closer on his broom, he used his finger to lift her head and thus forcing her to pay attention to him instead.

It worked well; now her eyes are entirely focused on him, but it did come at the cost of embarrassment. If they weren’t cherry red before, they certainly were now. If anyone were to look at her now, they might think she’s some kind of new cherry fruit with the most vivid of reds!

Aside from taking her embarrassment to the utmost maximum, her focus also wavered as she’s distracted by her friend’s eyes. Not enough for her broom to decide that it was done playing nice, but based on how her broom—the finicky thing—lowered, it was easily noticeable.

Thankfully, it didn’t seem Paul noticed as he moved further away with a smirk, seemingly daring her to try and go along. A subtle challenge mixed with encouragement, but she’s too busy internally freaking out about what he had done and the smirk on his face—

Focus! Corrine shook her head rapidly, her breath fast and nervous. She leaned her body the same way he had done, awkwardly steering it towards his direction, which she managed to accomplish, much to her relief. “This is nervewracking,” she can’t help but mumble to Paul as soon as she was close enough. “What if I fall? There’s not exactly anything to catch me below.”

At least in skiing, the snow would be there to catch your fall more often than not. Or at least, that’s how Corrine was thinking of it, seeing as she’s never actually gone skiing.

A detail that she had vocalized to him not long after she thought about it. It seemed like an activity that required skill, and at this point, it was evident that activities like those are never going to be her forte.

Paul didn't like brooms either. It, admittedly, was a matter of getting used to them, however, his first thoughts about the concept of Flying on a broom were very similar, if not the same as Corrine's. Other variables, like the fact that the broom had a seat on it, so that wizards could sit as comfortably as they'd sit on a bike, were clarified to him later in September, but still, his initial knowledge only allowed him to think Flying would be something dangerous and very uncomfortable.

It turned out not to be, fortunately.

Paul tried hard to remember the other vehicles that could be used to fly. Mr. Wheems mentioned flying carpets! Those would be really, really cool to fly. Would love to try! Perhaps, when we're on holiday in Turkey this year, 'cause they cannot be flown here, eh. What a shame... Thought the boy, stitching is eyebrows.

Paul looked around them to check if they were safe. It was still drizzling, the wind was, however, very soft, which was convenient. Good, there are not any things that could hold us back! The flight should be smooth! Thought the boy. He then grinned with his following thought, clearing his thought.

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking." Spoke the boy in a deep tone of voice, pretending to be an adult man. It sounded way worse - with the mutation of teenage boys' voice happening, the pitch of his voice often raised to ungodly heights. But that didn't prevent the boy from giggling in between the sentences uttered. "We're now flying over a hilly, foresty piece of Scotland! The temperature is slightly colder, and it drizzles, but, as my grandpa says, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!" After that, he chuckled. "Anyway, there's a forest ahead, so the flight might get a little bumpy. But whatever you do, try not to get off of this rodeo bull, please. Thank you for travelling with Turner airlines and have a great flight!"

If it was his way to keep Athie's eyes up from the ground, slash a lame attempt on joking, or an attempt to distract her from anything that could possibly make her cheeks so red with a blush, only Paul himself could tell.

Soon, she reached him, and he, therefore, he sent her a joyful smile. "Yay, you're here! Good job! See? Almost a natural!" Joked the boy, giving her a playful wink.

When she told him it was nervewracking, he smacked his lips reproachfully, shaking his head. "Well, well, Athie. Where's your Ravie spirit to learn new things with joy?" Paul pulled her leg with the nonchalant smirk slash crooked smile of his.

"Just... try not to think about it, I guess?" The boy shrugged, not really knowing how to reassure her that all would be well, that she would not fall. He didn't know if she or he himself wouldn't. No one knew. I wonder if we can do a spell that could save us... hm, can't think of any, except for, perhaps, Wingardium? But that one doesn't levitate people either. Shaking his head, he tried to cast those unsettling thoughts away.

"Look, for me, flying is all about the feeling. The wind in your hair and on your cheeks, blood pumping in your ears, your heart racing. The views you get from up here." With that, he turned around, pointing to the castle on the horizon. "You can do silly things, race with your friends or try to beat the sunlight in speed. It's... fun like football. More dangerous, perhaps, but I've totally fallen for it."

"I asked about skiing because there's a thing you can do, it's similar to carving." Suggested the boy, going forward like it, to show her. Moving the handle from the left to the right in quick, steady pace, so that he kept flying straight, with little, short detours to the left and right.

With that, he paused, turning to look at Corrine with an honest gaze.

"Fine, got a proposal." Sighed the boy, figuring she wasn't as glad to be on a broom as him. "Let's just go to the shore of the lake, and then back, so that we don't have to walk all the way to the broomstick shed. And then, tomorrow afternoon, I'll be all yours. We'll do whatever you want for exchange. You can teach me something, or we can practice Transfig, or... I don't know what. How does it sound?" Did he ask, unsure if it was good or bad. It was just an idea... a step to show his gratitude for that she came to him when she looked for help with flying. She could have asked anyone, after all. There were many other, older, more experienced students, and certainly better fliers. Cor chose him though, which had to count for something, right?

Corrine awkwardly shifted herself, trying to be comfortable. Curse the brooms and their branch-yness, they’re too stiff to be sitting on without cushioning. It took her a bit to find a proper section of the broom to actually slot herself into comfortably, but by then, she’s reached the same height as Paul.

Relieved by this revelation, she looked up just in time to see her friend look around. He looked concentrated, which made her curious. Just what exactly was he looking an eye out for? There weren’t any students nearby, so she doubted it was that. Being decently up in the air—at least by her standards, which no doubt isn’t the same as Paul’s—also reduced what other possible things he could be looking at. Her curiosity only increases when he grinned, as if he’s found out what he needed.

With the clearing of his throat, his voice changed as the following words came. “Captain speaking” was a phrase she heard, and the very thing that allowed her to recognize that this was just Paul being Paul. Playful and cute, as he often tended to be. Amused, Corrine followed him along as his broom moved, even if it was at a slower pace.

This pilot skit of his was very evidently a distraction, a solid attempt to prevent her from worrying about how far she was from the ground by now as they moved along. Silly as it was, it was working, and it was working well. Bit by bit, the girl could feel herself relaxing, focusing on just.. This.

No worrying about the ground that was far below, and no worrying about possibly falling off her broom. It was just her and Paul. Two people on brooms, yes, but more importantly, it was two good friends spending time together. Corrine wouldn’t have it any other way.

Hearing herself be called a natural made her shake her head lightheartedly. There was no way she was a natural, considering she needed Paul’s help in the first place, but she appreciated the sentiment regardless. The boy was likely complimenting her for the progress she’s made today, and that was his way of encouraging her at the same time.

I hope I’m making him proud, Corrine thought to herself, her heart warming.

Bit by bit, the two of them moved along the grounds, now at a somewhat comfortable height that Corrine could handle. As they did, Paul described how flying felt to him. All about feeling, she echoed internally, thoughtful. The way Paul described it seemed so wonderful. It was his way of appreciating the thrill and the adventure it brought, and Corrine knew how much he seemed to like that. It’s not Corrine’s thing, but it brought Paul happiness.

That was all she needed to know in order to give it a try, honestly.

With that thought in mind, she breathed out to calm her nerves. Her anxiety definitely remains, always thrumming beneath her veins. It’s just that, this time, she refuses to let it take front and center. Corrine gripped the broom properly this time: not painfully tight, but firm. Focused.

Corrine nodded seriously. The plan Paul had proposed sounded good. Challenging enough to test her limits, but not enough to make her fully lose what little composure she’s built. Going to the shore and back, that’s all. She can do that much.

Hold on, Paul had said something along the line of “being all hers”. Embarrassed, the girl tried to ignore the traitorous flutter of butterflies at the statement. This is just Paul being Paul, she tried to convince herself. He’s just really sweet, since he knows that today wasn’t easy. I chose this though, so I don’t think he needs to make up for it or anything.

Nevertheless, it was a gesture that she appreciated.

That being said, Corrine didn’t know what they’d do tomorrow. There really was only one thing she wanted from this.

Flustered, Corrine tried to keep her eyes on him. “I don’t really have anything specific in mind,” she mumbled, feeling her bravery slowly dwindle the more she spoke. “I just want to spend more time with you again.”

As soon as she said that, Corrine shut her mouth, waiting for his response anxiously.

Paul graced her with a wink when she reached him, however, didn't spend much time in the same place. He started flying forward again, heading towards the forest that parted the from the shore. He'd wait for her at the forest's edge.

Perhaps, he forgot about this being her idea. Or perhaps, he just really wanted to do whatever it was Cor wanted to do for an exchange. He imagined it would be something in the library, or some peaceful, quiet activity elsewhere in the castle.

Paul couldn't help but imagined what he'd do in the library, if they really went there. Well, he could practice the levitation charm on the books for the least. Down and back up, into their original place on the bookshelves. Or he could take some stuff with him to practice Tranfig. Or he could measure the room, because everyone knew it was large, but no one probably knew the exact sizes. And perhaps, he could even climb one of those cool library leathers, 'cause there was a fair chance there was one in such a huge library, right?

'I don’t really have anything specific in mind,'

"Huh, okay..."

'I just want to spend more time with you again.'

Paul was, yet again, oblivious of any romantic affection that might have come from her side. He smiled at her kindness, yes, as she was apparently leaving it up to him what they would be doing. The harder it would be for him though, to come up with an activity they'd both enjoy.

"How about insect hunting?" Paul came up with a sudden idea. "I mean, I've been meaning to get some food to lure imps in the foresty areas around the lake later. I'd really like to meet some, and enjoy the slapstick humour that Lécuyer said they have!"

Paul, come on. You should focus on what you're doing now. Which is flying. First things first, as dad says. Thought the boy, his excited face expression gradually transforming into a less vibrant one.

"But let's finish your tutoring first." An attempt on ordered behaviour? Hm, Turner might have been becoming more systematic and organized.

Corrine had reached him on the edge of the forest. "Yay... one fourth of the journey is behind us! Feeling good so far?" Asked Paul, checking out her mimics and condition in general.
After her reply, he breathed in to inform her:"Flying through a forest is hard, but also fun. Just be careful 'bout the outsticking tree branches. They're tricky. Could cut your clothes or scratch you even." He absent mindedly reached to the his arm, which experienced one of these tree branches scratching him in September, during his first flight with Ellaine and Sky. There was nothing on it now, of course, but still... it would take a while to get rid of the bad feeling which always emerged in his mind. "I'll be by your side. If I fly too fast, tell me, alright?"

Again, he waited for her answer, then leaned forward on his broom, entering the forest.

Corrine did her best to follow her friend closely from behind, now feeling a bit focused. The two of them were approaching the edge of the forest, which ran right along a portion of the Great Lake.

There are very few things she knew about the forest that surrounded Hogwarts. The most she could remember was an ominous warning that she’d heard from a group of students in the halls. They called it the Forbidden Forest.

Perhaps it was forbidden for a reason.

Sparing a glance towards the ominous forest, she felt a wave of apprehensive wash over her, followed shortly by curiosity. There’s no doubt in her mind that areas like these were restricted for a reason, likely for the safety of students like them. However, she’s also certain that whatever that danger may be, knowledge lied with it.

I don’t know if I’m daring enough to go in there though, she thought to herself. It wasn’t like she hated the thought of breaking rules; she preferred to follow them as much as possible, sure, but she’s not immune to the occasional breaking of rules. It just so happened that the consequences were often not worth dealing with.

Honestly speaking, she might’ve headed inside the forest and learned all she could if she just had enough bravery. Unfortunately for her, there’s a reason she wasn’t in Gryffindor.

Eventually, the two students reached the edge of the forest. Not quite in, but approaching closer than most would like.

When Paul suggested hunting for insects, Corrine thought about it some more. Surprisingly to even herself, she’s not mostly not fearful or disgusted by insects. There were a few she’d rather not have skin contact with, but it’s mostly an aversion to the crawl-y feeling that some give. At the very least, she’s capable of tolerating them well, especially if there’s a buffer between her skin and the insect, like a pair of gardening gloves.

“I don’t mind,” was what she settled with, nodding her head along. “Insect hunting sounds good.”

There’s also a part of her that’s curious about the differences between magical and non-magical insects. There’s no doubt in her mind that there was an overlap, but were there purely magical ones that belonged in the Wizarding World? Or perhaps, the ones that seemed so ordinary at first glance were actually secretly magical in some way?

Considering herbs, “non-magical” plants and other normal ingredients were used in potions, it wouldn’t surprise her.

“Maybe I’ll go to the library and borrow some kind of encyclopedia of insects.” Corrine added, her eyes shining in slight excitement. “I want to find out what we find.. Maybe I can write them down. Compare them.” She also glanced down at her hands, which were still gripping the broom tightly.

“I’ll also have to find out if I could borrow some gardening gloves.”

After seeing Paul glance back to check on her, she flashed him a shy smile of reassurance. Considering she’s getting along with her broom and not having to worry about falling off as much, she felt a lot better about her chances. Hopefully it was also enough to ensure that she wouldn’t get scratched by the branches, especially since she didn’t want to get her clothes too dirty.

She didn’t regret dressing up for this time with Paul though. Hearing him say that he’s by her side made her feel warm, and that was all she needed.

Forbidden Forest was, indeed a tough nut to crack, for two first years. Though his thoughts recently often spun around it, regarding the Flobberworm hunt he and Ellaine were about to do. He was weary of the place, due to the facts he had heard about it there and elsewhere. Strange, how often his older housemates tended to speak about it. Almost as if being enchanted by it, or compelled to infinitely think about it. It must be really special. But we can't access it, not even fly through it, till we're older. Shame... ran through the boy's mind.

In Paul, it awoke emotion, just like every single thing connected with magic. It wasn't necessarily negative, but it wasn't completely positive either. He felt respect for the general fear that the forest represented, but also impatience and eagerness to explore the area and get to know its peculiar inhabitants, no matter what sort of creatures they were. Geez, I can't wait to enter it! There are unicorns! Real, true unicorns! Like, how cool is that?! I can't even... The boy's look seemed somewhat unfocused for a moment, and he sighed longingly, barely audibly.

As Cor gave a reaction to insect hunting, and her reply was positive, Paul turned his head to smirk at her and nod his head. This girl... thought the boy, never met one upon my age that wouldn't be afraid of insects. Goodness, weren't we born twins and separated? He felt a sudden urge to hug her. Are you crazy? Up here?! Do you want to fall? No. Do you want to make Cor fall? Not at all! See? Hold your horses till you're on the ground, Turner. Added the rational part of his brain reproachfully. Paul shook his head to cast those caustic thoughts away.

"Are you... uhm... sure?"
Paul asked, unsure of whether to even ask or not. "I mean, girls aren't really fond of insects, so... if you... uh, you can change your mind, it's fine. " Paul shrugged, trying to play it cool.
“I want to find out what we find.. Maybe I can write them down. Compare them.”
Paul smiled with his crooked smile. "Hehe, so Ravie of you." Jeered the boy playfully, poking her into the side gently with an elbow. "And what if you forget some details about their appearance? They're pretty tricky, these beetles. Similar to one another." The boy reflected, suggesting a solution: "Shouldn't we borrow a camera to take pics of them?"

When Cor said she'd also need some gardening gloves, Paul stitched his eyebrows thoughtfully, wondering what she needed them for. Maybe, she doesn't want to touch the insects with her bare hands. Which is a good idea, actually. Thought the boy. "Gloves? What for?" Asked the Gryf.

Looking back at the forest ahead of them, he leaned forward, to fly ahead. "Alright, let's go. It's getting late!" Did he suggest confidently, entering the forest.

At her response, Paul looked pleasantly surprised. It seemed that he didn’t expect her to agree to his idea, likely due to the fact that it was related to bugs. Corrine can’t exactly blame him; a good majority of the girls around her age no doubt loathed the idea of being in contact with insects. While she isn’t one of them, she can also understand the notion that it mostly stemmed from fear, whether it was due to some bad experience they’ve had or just irrational fear. There were quite a lot of things she was afraid of, so she’d also be a hypocrite to pretend that dealing with insects like this made her brave.

She flashed her friend a smile. “I’m alright with it,” was all she said in reassurance, nodding. “I don’t have much issue with insects overall. Most of them just try to mind their own business and don’t even bite or anything. Though, I’d still like to find a pair of gloves for myself.”

A camera would be good, Corrine agreed internally in her mind, thoughtful. It was a smart suggestion on Paul’s part, and the thought of being able to look back and cross-reference the miniscule differences in the insects’ features like it was a spot-the-difference game made her excited. There were plenty of muggle-born and half-blood students in Hogwarts as well, and it’s likely that at least one of those students had some sort of camera.

Problem was, the girl doesn’t know if traditional muggle cameras worked here. Not even her alarm clock from home had worked when she first arrived here in Hogwarts; it was just her luck that an older Ravenclaw student had seen her predicament and helped out, tweaking it just enough to make it more magical. Hence, she still had her alarm clock.

It’d be hard to say if there was somebody here who knew enough about magic and muggle cameras to find the right mix between the two that’d let it function in a magical environment.

“A camera would be good,” Corrine nodded slowly. “I don’t think cameras from the muggle world work here though. I might have to buy one that’s sourced from the Wizarding World instead.”

There are probably good options out there, she hummed curiously. And I’ve been curious about their technology anyway.

For a few moments, Corrine felt confident enough to take one hand off her broom to show Paul her palm. The other remained on the handle to ensure that she didn’t slip off as she spoke: “I don’t mind getting my hands dirty every now and then, but some insects crawl on you. I don’t really like that feeling on my skin, and it doesn’t help that I don’t want to find out the hard way what possibly magical insects can do upon contact with a person’s skin—”

As soon as she felt herself beginning to ramble away, her cheeks flushed in slight embarrassment. However, by now, she’s grown at least somewhat accustomed to being comfortable around Paul. No longer did she worry as much about what he thought of her and her rambling; she trusted and knew that her friend wasn’t the type to think badly of her rambles by now.

“I also won’t make you wear the gloves unless you’d like to,” Corrine added after a shy beat. As much as she’d prefer for Paul to have protection for his skin in fear of possible bad situations, it’s not like she was his mother. She didn’t want to be overbearing and annoying in any sort of way.

Seeing as Paul had continued to fly in deeper, the girl placed her previously outstretched hand back onto her broom to grip it tight. A wave of fluttery glee overcame her just enough to trigger what little bravery she had—or perhaps it was recklessness—as she sped up just enough to even fly ahead of Paul, giggling softly.

The whistling wind was going through her hair now, leaving it whipping behind her in the air as they flew through the forest. It’s definitely going to be a bird’s nest once she slows down to stop and take a break, but for once, she didn’t really mind.
