Alexander sat in a dusty and abandoned classroom. Well abandoned if it wasn't for him sitting there.
For a therapist's office, it was terrible.
The room itself was not that bad. It had been a DADA classroom sometime during the 16th century. Though it fell into disuse in the 17th century after DADA classes were moved to the current classroom. The furniture had moved and the classroom had fallen into disuse.
Though that was not what Alexander knew. What he knew that he was in a large and dusty classroom who's only real feature was that it was brightly lit by the sun and had a good view of the grounds.

That and the pair of old chairs that stood in the center of the room. They looked like they were creaky and if someone older than a third-year used it there was a spontaneous chance of it collapsing. However, Alexander hoped that it was alright for the current user. He sat there, nervously. Schoolbag next to him with his school books. He had tried to find some books on psychology in the library but had not found anything.

As he did so Alexander wondered what had obsessed him to write an advertisement for therapy. Then he remembered, he needed some pocket money. Thus Alexander sat there and waited, a book of Hogwarts a History in hand.

Alexander hoped the interested person would come here soon. He had put a piece of parchment to the door saying.

She had received an owl with a time and place for her meeting with this unlicensed mind healer/therapist. His ad had caught her eye. Sure, it seemed rather silly but weren't they at Hogwarts to not only learn but to share their talents? Maybe this Alexander Varellion had a talent to share in which Alina Rosier could learn. Her roommate Kaylie Lovens was good at dancing and she had friends who were very knowledgeable of magical creatures. She could only assume that maybe there was something there with this boy.

As she walked down the corridors, she wasn't quite sure she was in the right place but there was a note on the door, indicating the name and 'profession' of the individual she was to meet. Right place. She brushed some of her hair aside and knocked on the door before slowly opening it. "Hello?" she called out and saw him sitting in a chair located in the middle of the room.

She smiled, glad to see she wasn't the first one there. Sure, this was slightly awkward but she was starting to like getting to know new people. "Look at us, meeting in such an obscure place. Some might think we're up to something," she teased with a smile. She walked up to him and held out her hand, "Alina Rosier. Your...student, if you will. Would that make you Professor Varellion to me?"

Alexander quickly dropped his book in his bag as he heard approaching footsteps and someone knocking on the door. Then quickly after he saw how the girl opened the door and now got to see her visage. She looked relatively pretty, brown hair, blue-greyish eyes. Though he didn't feel any innate attraction to it, he already had someone on his mind.

However, he could not help but violently cough a little and blush as she insinuated what they might be doing in such an abandoned classroom. He quickly recovered himself but could not help a slight blush. As he recovered he practiced his psychoanalysis a little, she might be trying to put him on the conversational backfoot. Trying to subconsciously have control of the situation.

Alexander then stood of from the chair and stepped forward to shake the girls's hand. As the girl stated his name Alexander showed no physical signs of reactions but internally he was worried. He had thought he had heard that name before in relation to the wizarding war. Some follower of the dark lord had been a Rosier if he remembered.
However, the person in front of him was clearly no death muncher so he should not be worried.

Then as the girl said that he was like a professor Alexander could not help but get a small smile. "I am really not a professor of anything. The closest analogy would be..." Alexander thought about the best analogy was to his current position. "like going to the Nurse. The nurse is not inherently superior to you but helps you with their area of expertise. Which is mostly the same as a mind healer."

Alexander then put his hand s behind his back. Containing the urge to scratch the itch on the back of his head. "And you may address me however you like. If you're more comfortable with professor that's alright. You can also just call me Mr. Varellion or Alexander."

He would then motion with his right hand to the other old chair in the room. "Here's a seat if you'd like. Or would you prefer to just stand?"

Alexander would then do what the girl said and either sit on the chair or stand mostly straight. Arms behind his back.

"So I heard that you were generally interested in the healing arts? Any specific specialty you are interested in?" Alexander was trying his best to make the girl comfortable and based on his earlier analysis make it seem like she had a good degree of control over the situation. And when people talked on something they like a lot, in this case, healing, they might reveal a lot of information on themselves.

She decided to go ahead and sit in the chair and walked over to do so, watching him the entire time. He looked enough like someone who would be named Alexander Varellion so she didn't have to rename him. What she would call him? She still didn't know, but maybe she'd have a decision once their first meeting came to a conclusion.

"Alright well..."
she narrowed her eyes a little and stared at the boy before continuing. How DID she answer this without seeming like she was the one being analyzed. Could she? Exactly what was this boy's intentions? She could see him learning about someone and spreading it all over the school. Even if he spread it all over his common room, her twin sister Bella would hear of it because she too was in Slytherin house like the boy.

But she wasn't here for a session, she had to remember that. No, she was there to learn and she'd pay the boy no matter what his owl had said. She wasn't there for a session so there was no need to analyze her. "Alright well," she went on, "I never had dream job that some kids seem to have...wanting to be a dancer or work with animals. It seems even now, everyone I'm surrounded by wants to study magical creatures and the more I think about them, the more odd questions that I have about them and I just can't. If I think about it too complex-like, I start creeping myself out or laughing inappropriately" - more on that another time, if he'd like.

"So I came here and I've really liked Herbology and Potions. It's crazy how the two subjects can influence someone so much if prepared correctly. One night here at school I found myself in the Hospital Wing - for a fellow housemate - (she sadly couldn't really call him a friend anymore). It was a comforting place and just knowing that someone is there to care for you despite any mess-up you may do or how low you feel is wonderful. It made me wonder if I couldn't excel in these subjects over my time here at Hogwarts and use them towards healing. I always thought physical healing...until I read your sign."

Alexander would cross his legs and intently listen to the student in front of him. As he listened to her he could figure out at least several things about her. Firstly from her comments on how she liked to approach things very complexly, it told Alexander that the girl wanted to know everything about a certain topic. She was not someone who did well at understanding things only at a base level. This seemed to go hand in hand with a desire to remain in control of a situation.

Secondly, she said that she laughed at inappropriate times told him that either she had no good control of social queues and/or how to react appropriately or she had some deeper issues. Issues that were probably deep and could not be handled in the first session like this.

As she spoke about healing and favorite subjects Alexander could not help but look at the robes of the girl. The Hufflepuf Yellow standing out to him.

Loyal and Hardworking. Yes, he could see why the girl would be a Huffelpuff and interested in helping people. He would then uncross his legs and speak a little.

"Healing can come in many forms. One of them is physical, which is treating someone physically and treating injuries or other conditions affecting the body. Another one is mental. The mental state of being, of a person. Here people can be affected by either natural conditions or by conditions that they gained through their experiences. The most commonly known one being PTSD."

He would then shift in his seat a little.
"This is the healing I work in. I help to treat my client's mental conditions. In some cases, it is not possible to cure but I at least attempt to make it less prevalent in life. Make it so that is has less of an influence in their daily lives."

He then clasped his hands together and continued to speak. "As for healing. From what I remember in Asia people even believe that people can spiritually heal. That their spirit or something can be restored. Though I am not familiar with this."

"I don't know anything about spiritually," Alina quickly said, not even wanting to go there. She hadn't been to church a day in her life and only knew a little about faith from books she read and characters that had it.

"So what sparks your interest in it? Mental healing?" Maybe he had some of his own that he had to work through or maybe someone in his family. She watched him close, intently. "You're a first year like myself," she got up and pulled her chair closer to his so she could really watch him. He would not be analyzing her unless she was going to be analyzing him right back.

Plus, it gave her something to focus on in the rather barren room. She wondered if maybe he picked that room for a reason, that it was to symbolize the emptiness one might feel or something and if so, that was downright Slytherin of him. "Surely something has inspired such."

She smiled to him. It still seemed silly - coming to someone of the same year for advice in the world of healing and yet she liked how this boy talked. It was interesting and even if she didn't learn anything about mental healing, this was an interesting encounter.

Alexander would tap his fingers on his leg. Taking a moment to think of what had inspired him to do this. If he remembered correctly it was sometime after the attack on the Slytherin dungeon. Realizing the traumatizing effects it had had on his fellow Slytherins and how few people they had to talk to.

They had their head of house, yes but she was busy with many different things. Which had been made abundantly clear when she had not been there when the common room was attacked.

So Alexander crossed his legs before speaking. "I guess what inspired me to do this was seeing all the traumatic events that have occurred in the school's recent history. And realizing how few people there were for students to talk to. Especially without potentially exposing themselves or criticizing teachers. "

He uncrossed his legs once more and looked pensive. "After which I came to the realization that we are in a school filled with teenagers. Notoriously the most emotionally vulnerable state in our personal development. Like I said earlier, people might not have the confidence to want to talk to their head of house with personal problems."

"So to summarise. I think I came to pursue this due to realizing that people needed a therapist. But that there were none available."

Talking to the Head of House....about their problems. So teenager. Alina smiled to the boy because she had done exactly that but there was no reason he needed to know that! She popped another lemon drop into her mouth and thought.

"So the attacks and all...that's pretty frightening. I'm sure some students here wish they could go back home and not even be here, although I think we're protected. We're on guard more than ever, you know?" At least she hoped.

Still there were some like her that wanted to stay at Hogwarts, even after the school year was over. She didn't want to go back to her home. She didn't want to go back to her family. What would he say of someone in her state? Maybe she could ask him without giving it away that she was asking for herself.

"Sometimes it's pretty big issues people would be bringing up. Like, how would you help someone mentally if they felt they were alone? That there wasn't anyone around that really cared about their well-being and only wanted a perception of them out there? If they felt they couldn't live up to that perception and would be forever a failure?"

Alexander listened intently to what Rosier said. The first part made sense, the second part.

Was far more worrying.

If she had stopped at 'help people mentally if they felt they were alone' then he could have imagined it as a hypothetical question. Albeit a relatively specific one. The follow up questions were far more specific and not the kind of questions asked for a hypothetical. What this told him was that this girl had a very high chance of feeling these issues herself.

He had to think carefully about these answers. He did not want to hurt the girl and wanted to help her. Because she seemed like she really needed it.

It seemed he had taken a heavy first case.

Alexander clasped his hands together into a small ball and sat there for a moment thinking.
Then he put his hands behind his back and straightened a bit. Looking into Alina's eyes trying to convey a look of sincerity.

"If a person would come to me with such a big problem I would first try and divided into smaller pieces that could be effectively treated."

He used his right hand behind his back to quickly scratch an itch on his back before continuing.

"For the problem of feeling like they were alone. I would ask them about their friends and families. See if they genuinely cared for him or her and help them to talk to and understand each other"

Alexander's hands would then go on his knees and he would lean slightly forward.
"If the feeling is correct and their friend or family don't care for them then I would advise them to make new friends. Find people who they can talk to and enjoy talking to. Who have a shared interest. Who you can talk to for hours on end with without getting bored."

He would then seem to think hard for a moment.
"If the person's family does not care for the, then I would advise the person to find other father or mother figures to look up to as an example. I would also advise the person to talk to their parents about their feeling. "

"If their parents care for them, then they will convey that. If they do not, then one could slowly distance themselves from their family. Create a life for themselves. Sticking around with your family in such a situation will most likely result in a negative development."

Alina didn't say anything in reply to his words because she figured any response would confirm him knowing she was talking about herself. She wasn't stupid, nor was he. She already knew he knew it but there was no sense actually giving that affirmation. She had too much pride.

Maybe others had this issue when it came to their thoughts and feelings. Maybe that was why this branch of medicine was so important. It needed to become normalized and an okay subject to speak about and not keep getting put on the back burner.

She liked it much better when the attention was on him. "So what do you do when you're not psycho-analyzing all your classmates, Professor Varellion?" He struck her as the type that maybe liked quidditch, but that was just an assumption based on his build. He could like astro-physics for all she knew. And maybe he enjoyed this, learning about the inner workings of behavior and thoughts. Then again, maybe this had little to do with enjoying and more to do with money making.
