Fun at the Library
Once the activity starts, the fellow members of the club starts doing their jobs, be it cleaning the shelves or the ground. Cassie decides to clean the shelves. She sees this as a great opportunity to examine what kinds of books the library has which she has never noticed and practise spell-casting at the same time. She pulls out her wand from her pocket and walks to the nearest shelf. She soon spots a small corner with dust which needs to be cleaned.
She points her wand at the dust. 'Scourgify.' she says as she moves her wand in the shape of an 'S' bubbles appears from the tip of her wand and rubs the area clean in an instant. She smiles as she moves on to the next spot. It has only been two months since she discovered her ability of wandless magic. She feels excited as she de cides to give it a try. She covers the area to be cleaned with her right palm instead of pointing her wand at it. 'Scourgify' she says again. She feels a sense of coolness, and bubbles appears out of nowhere. She is surprised at what she just did, and she smiles.
Meanwhile, quite a few students have discovered bits of parchment, collecting different letters. 'Congratulations to those who have found pieces of parchment!' Cassie says cheerfully, 'Keep up the good work!'

Sabrina took her time returning the books to their rightful places, pausing to inspect each pretty cover or interesting title, not hesitant in the least to flip through the pages of few. This gave the raven ample of time to contemplate her situation and possible next steps. Once she slid the last copy into it's given spot, completing the shelves line-up with a satisfied quirk of her lips, she already had a plan - or at least an outline of it - prepared in her mind: she would choose one of her teammates and iniciate conversation with them. That should be easy enough, right? They already shared the same iniciative; were on the same side of the battle, might as well strategize.
Patting the sides of her robes, which she probably should've changed out of, she gathered all the courage scattered through her small frame, her gaze falling on a nearby girl (@Harumi Everdane). She looked to be around her age, a hufflepuff, judging by her yellow volunteer pin, and seemed to adapt a process similiar to her own, first moving the books before cleaning a shelve with a spell. It sure wouldn't hurt to have even this small thing in commen, passed through Sabrina's busy mind as her steps lead to the badger, fingers twirling with her own blue pin.
'Hi, I am Sabrina, Sabrina Lyons, Brie for short. We're on the same team,' she went with her usual introduction, hand extanded in an offer of a handshake, the other pulling out the lettered piece of parchment before sliding it back into her pocket, smile wide, 'I also like putting the books aside before cleaning a shelve. Probably makes the whole process a tad bit slower, but hey, at least the books won't get all soapy and wet. Not that I have a proof of them even absorbing the magical bubbles. Then again, better be safe than sorry,' her nerves pushed her to ramble, her cheeks turning a light shade of red. Deep breath, pause, gather your thoughts, then speak. Cleaning her throat, the girl swiveled to face the shelves, 'mind if I join you? I bet we could up our speed and win the game if we join forces,' she mumbled, waiting, and hoping, for the unknown girl's approval.

I was heading towards the library, my favourite place in hogwarts for a volunteering activity. I had recently joint the Hogwarts Volunteer Club, and had recieved an owl from Cassie Jiang, the Club Head, this morning, abt my first activity. We had to clean up the library, arrange the books in the shelves, etc. I was so excited, I really wanted to help out, and perhaps I'd make some friends too.
Upon reaching the library, I noticed that a few students had already arrived, and had started their work. I spotted Cassie and Zephyr Deakin, the deputy head of the club. I headed towards them. We greeted each other, and they handed me a parchment with instructions. They also gave me a Hogwarts Volunteer badge. The parchment mentioned that along with tidying up, we were also going to play a game. Ooo!! How fun ! I love games.
The rules of the game were that, upon arrival we would all be split into two teams based on the sequence of our arrival. There were some parchments hidden amongst the shelves with the letters- 'L', 'I', 'B', 'R', 'A' and 'Y'. The first team to collect all the letters wins. This is a really exciting game, it's kinda like treasure hunt, but without clues.
Since I hadn't learnt the spell Scourgify yet, I had to do the cleaning manually, with a bucket of soap, water and rags. That was gonna be tiring. I put on some protective gloves, grabbed the other equipment and started with my tasks.
I spent some time scrubbing the floors till it was squeaky clean, then I tidied up the tables. I spotted some books placed on the table I was cleaning, I picked them up and headed towards the shelves. I wiped off the dust on the shelf and started arranging the books. I arranged them based on the title in alphabetical order, and placed the books by the same author together.
While I was busy in my current task, I spotted a little piece of parchment on the shelf. Yayy!! Looks like I found one of those letter parchments. I squealed with joy. I wonder which letter I've got.

It was December, one of Ezra's least favourite months. For various reasons, but mainly because he did not appreciate the cold. He threw on a jacket on top of his hoodie to make sure he wasn't shivering the whole time he was supposed to be cleaning and made his way to the Library. This was his first activity in this club and he was slightly nervous. He had volunteered around at his old muggle school so he did know how it went, but he was anxious about who would be there. He still wasn't comfortable speaking with upperclassmen, they scared him. Plus, he was late, which did not help with her nerves. He hated being tardy.
He mustered whatever courage he had buried inside him and entered the now familiar room that was the Library. There were a few people who seemed to be cleaning the Library. More than he had expected and definitely much more than those who had volunteered at his old school. He did recognise a few friendly faces, whom he waved at when he managed to make eye contact. He walked up to the student whom he recognised as the club leader. Cassie Jiang.
Once he had received his cleaning supplies he made his way towards the shelf where his friend, Marcella was working. "Hey there!" He said to her, announcing his presense as he settled down on the floor, rolled up his sleeves and began scrubbing. He hummed softly to himself while working. It wasn't easy work, scrubbing the floor, but he'd helped around at home so he wasn't half bad. He smirked to himself imagining putting "good floor scrubber" on his resume.
Once he had finished with that section of the floor, he stood up to move on and a piece of parchment caught his eye. It was there, on the shelf opposite him, placed delicately on top of the books there. He picked up the piece of parchment and examined it curiously.
I have no news. I live quietly. I love you and I wait

Cleaning was tiring, but fun when it is done with a group of good friends. The raven girl turned as she heard the sweet chirp of a little birdie. "Ezra! Do you need any help?" she asked, as she watched her friend scrub the floor manually.
Soon after Marcella had found a piece of parchment, she went to hand it over. When she had handed her piece of parchment to Cassie, she also got to know that her friend and study partner, Harumi Everdane, had joined them. She quickly went to her and greeted.
“Hey, Haru! It seems we’re on the same team,” said the Ravenclaw as she smiled warmly at her friend. Harumi was a great person whom Marcy had. The young witch started cleaning with gusto after her victory in finding a piece of parchment. While cleaning the shelves, Marcella made sure to keep a record of all the book titles she passed by, as she was desperately in need of a new book to read. She hummed sweetly as she went around. After tidying up a bit, she went to help Ezra.
"You're a darn good floor scrubber, Ez. I ought to recommend you to Cassie for floor scrubbing," She joked as she gorged Ezra's expression.

Zephyr was comfortable with his role. With each student coming in, he would offer them a polite smile. When they approached him, he would hand out gloves, rags and directed them toward the right supplies they would need for the cleaning. "No problem." Was his response every time someone would say their thanks. In addition, to the students who have just arrived, he repeated what Cassie already shared with the others, take gloves and instructed them to use Scourgify, if they already knew the spell, otherwise, rags and buckets would be used instead.
Cassie was the one explaining the rules with that enthusiastic and encouraging voice that was easy to draw attention. He would usually leave that part to her and let her take that space. The girl was better at it than him. His job was different, mostly handing out the required tools and supplies. He was busy handing out the tools when someone called his name. It was Sabrina (@Sabrina Lyons), the girl he'd met on few occasions. “Hello.” Smiling with his polite expression. “I’m good. I'm good. You?” Giving her the required supplies, he added, "Enjoy the activity." It was always enjoyable to add a game while cleaning. The task alone could feel repetitive fast, especially something like this, doing the same action on the same spot over and over. Give them a game and they would be paying attention. It was a distraction but a useful one, especially if they think they’re winning something.
When the activity started and having the majority already present, Zephyr also started doing his part and cleaned the nearest shelf he could find. While doing his job, he was also taking note of who found a piece of parchment as it was part of their activity today.

The parchment I had found, had the letter 'R' on it. How exciting! My team was making progress. We need 3 more letters to win, but the other team seemed to be making more progress. Well, I hope my team finds a few more pieces of parchment. Maybe I'd find another one too. I was really in the mood to win, especially after all this work.
I went back to scrubbing the floors. It was exhausting, I wish I knew the Scourgify spell, ughh! The weather being hot was also adding to my exhaustion. While doing my task, I was making a mental note of the different books in the library. I would read them all later. I kept an eye out for any other parchment. I looked around the room, some students were working in groups. I had seen them around school, but I didn't really know them. Maybe I should go talk to them, I really need to socialise a bit.
Then I spotted a girl, a ravenclaw, (@Sabrina Lyons) by the shelves, I decided to approach her. I wonder if we're on the same team. "Hi I'm Avery", I said, as I extended my hand, a second later I realised my outstretched hand still had cleaning gloves on. I quickly took it off and extended it in a handshake again. "Uggh, that was an embarrassing first impression, just great Avery, spoil your chances of making a friend even more", I thought. I then asked her, "What's your name, and which team are you on?"

Each time, the charm washed the shelf clean in a neat little flash, and Lily felt satisfaction at the many shelves she'd done since finding her first piece of parchment a while ago.
Now she decided to keep her eyes once more for another one. More students from the club kept arriving and joining the mess and some whispering between themselves, but now, as she cleaned it seemed calm and quiet all around her. Her focus on the mess in front of her. There was something comforting about doing a task that also had a twist mixed in that let her focus better. This was the kind of activity that made her join the club in the first place. She liked being useful and the library was one of her favourite places to hang out at.
After finishing one row, Lily stepped away to the next section, she continued the light dusting and arranging the books, with the occasional Scourgify here and there. She worked carefully around the corners, checking a few books and just as she leaned in to see if she had missed a spot, she spotted something tucked in between a book and the edge of the shelf.
Another piece of parchment. She headed toward Cassie to hand it over.

Cassie continues cleaning the shelves, repeating the actions of waving her wand and producing magic bubbles. Their volunteer work doesn't seem to make anywhere near as much difference as their last one, for they are cleaning some minor stains in a spacious hall. But this doesn't really matter-- after all, Cassie's original aspiration when founding the club was to make Hogwarts a better place little by little. Every action counts.
Whenever a fellow club member shows Cassie the parchment they've found, Cassie will always smile and congratulate them warmly. She tries her best to memorize which team's members pick up what letters. As the game goes on, more and more pieces of parchment are collected. Cassie starts finding it more difficult to remember everything herself. She puts her wand in her pocket, and walks back to her bag, hoping to find a piece of parchment and quill to note the results down.
Just then, she notices that Zephyr is writing on a piece of parchment. Feeling curious, she walks to him, recognizing names and letters. All the time, he is keeping track of the game quietly. Deeply moved, Cassie says in a gentle voice, 'Thank you so much, I am just worrying I couldn’t keep track of all these names and letters alone. It means a lot that you’re quietly helping out.'
She quickly goes through the list of letters found. 'One last letter left for Team 1! Keep it up everyone.' she announces cheerfully.

Harumi waved at Mars. "Hey, Mars! It seems we are! Let's win this!" Harumi encouraged before turning to continue cleaning.
----the paper she found turned out to be from the game indeed, Harumi had found the "L" from "Library", and her team is now one step closer to winning. Just as she was about to continue cleaning, a girl, from Ravenclaw apparently, approached her.
----"Oh hi! I'm Harumi, you can call me Haru!" Harumi said as she handshaked the girl with a bright smile. Harumi always thought of handshakes as too formal, usually she would wave at the person, or even hug them if they're close enough, but she obviously wouldn't ignore someone's extended hand.
----"Yeah, I was scared for the books as well. I'm sure there's more than a few people who would kill us if anything happened to the books." Harumi agreed with the girl, a few extra minutes to move the books wouldn't hurt anyone. "Not that I blame them, those books are probably very valuable. I'd be angry if anything happened to them." She added, the library was Harumi's favourite place in the entire castle, losing some books to soap is a tragedy for her.
----Harumi beamed at the idea of working together to speed up the process. "Yeah, let's do that! Four hands are better than two!" Harumi exclaimed happily, though internally cringing at how she phrased her words, but she can do nothing about them now.
----"How about I move the books and return them, while you use Scourgify to clean the shelves?" Harumi suggest before going ahead and starting already. "Also let's keep an eye out for the parchment. Our team is only one letter away from winning, I think we need an R!" Harumi proposed.
----Harumi started removing the books from the next shelf, putting them on one of the nearby tables like she did earlier, and before long she spots another piece of parchment, she looks at it, excited to see if it's from the game, and bring it back to Cassie.
