It's Hogwarts Field Day! It is not uncommon for students at Hogwarts to experience doing a sport, but doing three sports all in one day is certainly not something one gets to do all the time. As usual, Cassie sees the errand as an opportunity to meet new friends, thus, she is going with Ophelia Vanderbilt and Lauren Wong, two younger students she doesn't know well.
In her school robes, Cassie arrives at the Quidditch Stadium with the other two students, their first stop of today's activities. Ophelia, a Gryffindor first started talking about their past sports experiences. 'I was on the Quidditch team before.' Cassie says, the experience seems to be a long time ago. 'A second-string beater back then. But then I was absent for a whole year and resigned from the team. I'm on the duelling roster right now though.' Cassie examines the stadium as she talks. 'I'll pick the bludger station then! It's a pity I never really got to play as a beater on the field.' she says as she walks towards it. Ophelia picks that station as well.
Cassie walks over and realizes that they are going to hit dummies with bludgers. Simple but fun, she thinks as she mounts her broom. It is a moontrimmer her parents bought her two years ago as a gift. It looks new because it hasn't been used for many times, and Cassie does broomcare often. She flies to midair, picks up the bludger and aims it at the dummies, hoping that she will hit them.

Denisse decided that she should use a school broom and, with tingling fingers, jumped into a group of students doing loops around the hoops. It was natural that Denisse chooses to go for the Seeker's challenge. When the Snitch was released, the world was nothing but a single gold spot. Denisse felt her broom know where to go even before she did, it zipped through the air ahead of her own movements. The sounds of the crowd faded from Denisse's hearing. This was it. This was the chase. Denisse knew she could not succeed but knew that she had to try. The Snitch flicked left, then flew upwards in a dizzying spiraled dive. Denisse didn't think -- she just moved. Her body went where the broom went. At every turn, every downward plummet Denisse responded with a surge of adrenaline. It had nothing to do with strategy. It had to do with instinct and a keen sharpness to guide each beat of her heart.
The wind whizzed past Denisse's face, and the crowd was but a faint hum. The Snitch flew low across the base of the stands and then jetted back into the open air. Denisse pressed on, her broom under her responsive but strained to keep pace. Her fingers brushed against emptiness as she stretched out her hand towards it. The Snitch darted away, mocking her but Denisse did not feel annoyed or frustrated. Denisse was out in it and there was no doubt, knew that it would not be escaping her.
In one swift motion the Snitch dove low, then launched itself upward with wings glinting from the sun at that angle. Out went Denisse, her arm out-stretched, heart pumping. For a moment it seemed to Denisse that the world around her held still for a moment. The Snitch was hovering out of her reach.

Della had broom racing down pat, and she had dabbled in a duelling a few times, but she had never attempted to play quidditch. She had to be here for the broom racing part of field day, so she thought it was high time she tried the sport. It was flying without all the in-air duelling. Could it really be that hard?
Instead of playing a full game—which could take them days—the quidditch captains had set up a series of stations. You could give each position a try. Della knew seekers had the most star power, but she often though chasers did the real work. And yet, then there were the beaters. The Gryffindor captain was tall but lean; she was built for evading danger, not seeking it out with a bat. But it was field day. And Della was skipping a large chunk of her OWL study schedule for this—she ought to make it worth it.
She picked up a bat and felt its weight in her hands. She did a few practice swings. She eyed the practice dummies, imagining them filled with the parchment she had spent all last night staring at. Yes, she needed to get some of that stress out.

And Laasya had made it to the Quidditch activity, without losing her head. And to her disappointment, she didn’t find anything for a keeper. She wanted to be prepared, in case she was called on to the pitch which she hope she didn’t, so that she could observe everyone play.
Anyways, there were 3 stations. The first one was for scoring with the quaffle which is what the chasers and even the keepers and seekers did sometimes. The second one was for hitting bludgers and dummies, thankfully as she knew bludgers were painful. She had experience during the unofficial game where she played as a beater. She was hit with a bludger that time. She would hate to see someone else get hit with a bludger outside a game. And the last station was for spotting the snitch, which was probably the hardest thing as the snitch was so tiny, it was most likely it wasn’t even there sometimes. All three of theses stations were fun, but first Laasya had to do something that would be useful for her game. She wouldn’t be needed to bludger anyone as that was a beater’s job. Or she didn’t have to find a snitch as that was the seeker’s job. Too bad there wasn’t a station to stop people from panicking and to tell them to just have some fun. So, she decided to do what even a keeper could, score with a quaffle. She mounted her shooting star broom and began to start.

With six students soaring through the sky, the pursuit for the Quaffle was as chaotic as ever. Lenthe's poor handling of the ball left her hand aching and unable to hold onto it. Meanwhile, two snakes seized the opportunity to latch onto the ball. After a brief tussle, Lennon yielded the ball to Dido, who unfortunately mishandled the Quaffle and missed the hoop. The blunder left her hand sore, making her next attempt trickier. However, Dido proved that no mishap would deter her and claimed the Quaffle once more. Though her handling improved significantly, her aim was not precise enough to score. The Quaffle Station
Laasya would then end Dido's streak by sweeping up the quaffle and looping the ball through the hoop. With that, she had demonstrated prowess as first-string player. Shortly after, Lennon attempted to make a comeback and lunged for the Quaffle. Alas, he too hurt his hand as the Quaffle eluded his grasp. Laasya claimed the ball once more and charged at the hoop. Unfortunately, the Quaffle simply bounced off the hoop's edge, signalling the start of another attempt.
As though a hex had been cast, Dido, Lenthe and Laasya were knocked by the Quaffle as they struggled to grab it. Skylar and Riley were fortunate enough to be spared from a similar fate, but neither of them secured the ball. Still, they could pat themselves on the back for remaining unscathed. In a turn of events, Lennon clasped his hands around the ball and flew towards the hoop. With one decisive throw, he scored!
In the distance, Cecilia quietly spectated the chaos and took note of the two Slytherin players. Sure, there was always room for improvement, but she was confident that they would make fine additions to the team.

The four students who dared to take on the bludgers would find greater success than the crowd of chasers. With her precise aim, Ophelia landed a decisive blow on the bludger. She certainly had the potential to break a few bones. As the ball bounced off the dummy, Zephyr swept in on his silver arrow and struck the it with such force that the dummy (and Cecilia) visibly recoiled. Cecilia quickly decided that it was in her best interest to have him stick to broom racing. Meanwhile, Cassie gracefully glided on her moontrimmer and swung her bat. With a loud thwack, the iron ball barrelled towards the dummy and bounced off it. Though her strike was slightly less powerful than Zephyr's, Cecilia was fairly certain that being caught it it’s trajectory could still land her in the hospital wing. Della then swooped in, landing one clean strike on the bludger and sending it straight towards another dummy. It was safe to say that the beaters were dominating their field. The Bludger Station

In a more peaceful part of the pitch, Richard, Ava and Denisse took refuge from the chaotic quaffle and destructive bludgers. Though their hunt for the silver-winged ball seemed more tranquil, it was by no means easier. After all, spotting the snitch was akin to finding a needle in a haystack. The trio searched high and low for a hint of gold, but their efforts proved fruitless. None of them could see the snitch, for now. Perhaps they would be more fortunate if they continued their search. In the distance, the young captain watched intently, curious to see whether the budding Slytherin seeker would persist. The Snitch Station

She was so chill on this now though. Not getting it only made her want to catch it all the more. The Snitch flickered its wings, just shivering there waiting for a hand. Denisse was more than eager, practically pulling on her broom to lean far enough over the edge that she could lay eyes on it first. The wind was rushing past her ears like some damned speed demon.
Every shadow, every flicker of light, and Denisse's heart would leap, for the goal was to end the game.
Her heart raced, and with it, she ascended high. Denisse's eyes were sweeping the perimeter of the entire pitch, her mind laser focused on the impending task of making note of any sniff of the Snitch. The sound of the crowd is no longer heard. It was just about this chase.
Then something flickered. Denisse had made a really fast, sharp tilt of her broom and done an expensive slice through the air. The Snitch is moving unpredictably.
All she cared about was catching the Snitch. Denisse extended her hand, almost trembling at the prospect of catching it. There was a hard dash wind to her face. Everybody was simply holding their breath. For her, it was as if time suddenly sunk into a bit of space-time continuum.
She could almost touch the Snitch, it taunted her.
It was flapping its wings like there was no tomorrow. Denisse touched the air with her fingers and could also feel that Snitch pull really close. That was such an intense, ambiguous moment. She would not take no for an answer. As days and nights passed every time Denisse attempted it felt as though she was one petite step closer to finally catching hold of it. With every breath, her focus sharpened.

TriQuidditch Toss-up
Richard decided to find an observation spot, high up in the sky. Zigzagging aimlessly was getting him nowhere, except for the risk of accidentally bumping into someone. Without him realizing it, the stand had emptied out a bit. There were only three students left searching for the small golden ball: himself, a Hufflepuff who kept feinting towards the ground, and a Ravenclaw who, like Richard, had opted for a quieter search. All first-years he'd bumped into here and there during classes or seen from afar in the Great Hall.
The Slytherin, however, wasn't fooled. The moment the Snitch appeared, any false sense of calm would quickly evaporate, and the three students would swarm each other, either to seize the object or to ruthlessly prevent the others from getting it. At least, that was his ambition, regardless of whether the other two girls shared that sentiment. As the minutes of searching ticked by, Richard couldn't help but think that this position was truly a dubious mix of frustration and eager anticipation.
After an impatient click of his tongue, the Green finally moved, deciding to stay above the girls, making wide circles that followed the outline of the stand. The light breeze ruffled his hair, and he enjoyed the coolness on his pale cheeks. His hands gripped the handle firmly, ready to change course at a moment's notice.

While waiting, Zephyr didn't speak much. He never really did when he was this focused. He just stayed on his broom and waited for his turn, eyes were busy watching the first student who went before him. She successfully hit the bludger, which put unnecessary pressure on him. Now that it's his turn, jade eyes swept around the place where the bludger might appear at any moment. He knew how unpredictable that ball was. Without meaning to, his grip on the bat tightened then loosened once again and then tightened again, not out of nervousness, mostly in anticipation.
The Bludger finally came into view as it bounced from the last dummy it hit and all his focus just zeroed in on that ball. All the other things around him faded into background but with that came a memory. He could still remember, and felt, every impact of this ball every time it would hit his body. Those uncontrolled moments in unofficial matches he'd been to where the ball didn't really care who you were, they just hit. He remembered the immesurable pain in his side from a hit he didn't see coming. Some of his friends too, knocked out of their broom. "Well... this is for all those times..." All he could think of after that was his intention to hit it.
When he swung, he gave all the strength he could muster. It was a committed strike that came from more than just a technique alone. His knuckles turned white by just holding the bat before it even connected. All restraint collapsing into a single decisive motion. The impact of the bat echoed as it collided with the ball and that sound satisfied something primitive in him. He held his follow through as his eyes still locked on where the dummy was struck. HAH!!! His chest rose slowly as a result of that single motion, with his arms shaking from that impact. He hit it too strong more force than the dummy needed. But, he didn’t regret it.
He wanted to prove that he could hit cleanly and not hesitate at the last minute. Exhaling in relief, he eased his grip on the bat. Hearing the signal for the next one, he flew down to the ground and returned the bat before joining the queue for the Quaffle station. And like the rest, he prepared for the action he was most familiar with. Let's see how he would fair with this one. He flew on the designation section and waited for his turn.

It was utterly thrilling. Even more so than when they had first flown up into the air during that very first Flying lesson. Being in the thick of such excitement and competition was… just thrilling.
Dido had launched into the air, surging directly towards the Quaffle, not even being put off by the equally fast, much taller boy heading in Dido’s exact direction, perfectly set up for a collision. Thankfully, both riders stalled their brooms in time and managed to reach out to the leather ball, grappling fiercely with each other for its possession. With a grin and a loud triumphant hoot, Dido wrestled it away from the boy before spinning her broom to face the three short hoops. She soared towards the central one, readied the Quaffle and… as she threw it, it caught against her hand, splaying her fingers back and sending the ball falling down. Cursing under her breath, Dido retrieved the ball and tried again to launch it towards the hoops, throwing it well but still failing to send the ball through one. Dido spent the rest of her time at the Chaser section in similar fashion, enjoying the experience but not quite showing any real aptitude.
The flying was still exciting, though the feeling was slightly dampened by her failure and, unsurprisingly for a twelve year old, Dido grew tired of the mistakes fairly quickly.
So, with a wave to the other students, Dido started to head away from the Chaser area, studying the other two Quidditch practise sections. One of them was pretty empty, three first years flying aimlessly around with focused and concentrated faces. Dido assumed that that was the Seeker practise area and, seeing the students’ apparent struggles, decided against trying to search for the small snitch herself.
This left only the beater section for Dido to try so, with a revitalised anticipation, Dido crossed over to the small pile of beater’s bats. She picked one up, feeling for the balance in her hand before stepping to the side to attempt some practise swings. In an unusual show of thought, Dido recognised the possible danger in swinging a heavy bat for the first time while several feet in the air on a broom that she still had to focus on to stay balanced.
After a few minutes of practise, Dido picked up her broom and, clutching the bat tightly so she wouldn’t accidentally knock someone out by dropping it, flew up into the sky. She glanced at one of the bludgers, waited as it began to hurtle towards her and, after a deep breath, swung as hard as she could.

If someone asked Frederick Buckley what the perfect weekend would look like, he would certainly answer: a weekend exactly like the one he was about to have. It was a pleasant Saturday in May, and Fred made his way toward the Quidditch pitch, where an event dedicated to wizarding sports was taking place. The following day, he would be back in the very same place, playing in Gryffindor’s Quidditch match against Slytherin. Fred couldn’t have asked for anything better than that.
The boy crossed the entrance area, where a general setup had been arranged to guide students through the sports and their rules, heading straight for the Quidditch section. Naturally, that would be his first stop of the day, his favorite sport, just to warm up. Fred joined the line at the first station, where students competed with the Quaffle and attempted to score goals, since he wouldn’t be taking on his usual role as Keeper there. As he waited, he wondered which station he would visit next: dueling or broom racing.
With permission from the event moderators, some of whom Fred recognized, the boy climbed onto his Silver Arrow and prepared for the challenge. If this had been an official match, he certainly would have been shaking with nerves, still being far too young to feel completely confident during a real game. But since this was only for fun, Frederick flew in a relaxed way, enjoying himself more than ever. Maybe that helped him not only catch hold of the red leather ball now, but also strengthen his confidence for the match awaiting him the next day.
