It was time. It was Sunday, just after lunch, and Campion had finally decided enough was enough. It was time for the big chop.

Over the past few months at Hogwarts, Campion had again and again been mistaken as a girl until people had seen he was wearing trousers. Even that hadn't always convinced everyone, and it was getting on his nerves. He was a boy, and wanted to be seen as such.

So one fateful day, he decided to take the plunge. Armed with a pair of scissors, Campion found his way to the boys' lavatory. He was alone for the moment, thankfully. No other students would be present for him to start his haircut and hopefully wouldn't come in to witness it in the middle. He was not remotely confident in his ability to cut his own hair, but he would only have to put up with it for a couple months until it was time to go home for the summer. He just didn't want to wait anymore.

He wasn't in his school robes, it being Sunday and him not wanting to get hair all over them. Instead, he wore a simple t-shirt and chinos, which he wouldn't mind immediately discarding to be washed upon returning to his dorm.

The boy in the mirror looking back at him looked nervous, but excited. Campion raised the pair of scissors in his hands and, nervously, began chopping away. He'd never had short hair before. He hoped he'd like it. Section by section, strands of hair began falling away to the floor. Never mind that, he'd clean it all up before he left. Campion snipped and cut until his hair framed his face. He kept the bangs, and the sides were now nicely short. Had his ears always looked like that? Campion wasn't sure. The haircut was choppy and poor in quality, but if it did the trick, he wouldn't complain. Mam would surely fix it immediately upon return home for the summer, especially if it didn't grow out decently.

When he was done, Campion slipped the scissors safely into his pocket and admired his work. Yes, this would do nicely.
