Now, perhaps Rafael didn’t quite know Willow Anderson all that well as of yet, given that she was quite busy nowadays, along with obviously not being part of the best house in the history of Hogwarts. Such things were quite discouraging in his efforts of getting to know his fellow classmates better, but if he didn’t know her interests, pet peeves, or strong traits, he would at least find solace in one golden tidbit of information – the girl was a bloody beast on the Quidditch Pitch, one of the best keepers the school had seen in a good long while. Either that, or her first game had been a fluke, a thought that the young Captain would be quick to dismiss. Really, he couldn’t help but wonder where Saskia had been hiding her, or whether it had been some sort of tactic, to put Kurowaka on the field in her stead. And if that weren’t enough, there was always the girl’s pleasurable personality, as there was simply something comforting about her presence, most likely due to her good-willed nature and bouncy spirit. It was for this reason that, despite their lack of interactions, the boy felt rather fond of her, as he would any of his allies. She needed something, she only had to say the word.

That being said, he was quite taken aback by her sudden intrusion – for the second time that night, a yelp escaped his lips, and he jumped, shoving the vase behind his back as a deep shade of red colored his cheeks, his eyes erratic and mouth gaping. God, what was with this sudden fear of women? Was it the unsettling air of danger, lurking about the April air, the unconscious warning of something to go horrible wrong? Or was it the flowing dresses and pretty faces that now littered the Quidditch Pitch, magnets to the weary eyes of the girl-crazy Quidditch Captain? After all, the girl before him certainly didn’t look terrible – rather, her presence was quite overwhelming, a flowy, casual sort of pink dress coming down to her knees and pink lace-up boots on her feet, matched with short dirty-blonde hair and a pretty face. If he wasn’t already chasing a legion of women, perhaps he would have developed a crush. However, the current circumstances sorely forbade such emotions – he had to get away from her, hide the bloody flowers once more. It wasn’t a good idea to spread panic, especially through women. Who knew who was or wasn’t on shark week?

With only growing realization, he dismissed such a concept, sucking in a deep breath and bringing the vase forward so that it rested in his arms, clear for the Hufflepuff to see. If Willow could fly through a court full of bludgers and manage to block a ball from going through the Quidditch hoops, she surely could handle a bit of conspiracy. In fact, perhaps her presence was welcome – if he were the only person aware of the dangers lurking throughout the pitch, it wouldn’t hurt to garner some assistance, would it? “Willow,” he voiced hurriedly, a mere whisper above the roaring masses as he surveyed their surroundings suspiciously. “I need your help, yeah? You mind coming with me?” Then, lowering his voice further, and leaning forward in the slightest, “I swear I’ll tell you what’s up with the flowers – it’s not a good place here.” Perhaps whispering of conspiracies was silly, but he certainly didn’t want to chance a nearby student picking up on his secrecy. In the case that Willow accepted his request, she would soon learn the secrets she longed for.

The boy’s eyes quickly flickered over to his company – God, what had he been thinking, leaving Lydia? What did that make him look like? A terrible date, he could only assume. His eyes returned to the bouquet in his hands, a grimace forming upon his features as he regarded the cursed petals with disdain. The vase needed to go. But where? Was he to hide them? Hand them off? But, to who? He entertained himself with a concept for a moment, his eyes floating over the many students walking about the Pitch. There was the she-devil, but could he trust her? Ariana could work, but did he want to risk endangering her? What of Flash, sitting with… wait, had he come to the ball with Ruka? The Gryffindor’s face immediately soured, a scowl alight on his features as his eyes narrowed. They were bloody perfect for each other, they were. But there was no time to consider such things further – his eyes continued their search, coming to rest on another familiar face. His best friend. Anastasia Beckett. Well, he supposed she would certainly get the job done – it wasn’t like her, to shy away from danger. He’d seen first-hand her crazy nature, had heard from her own lips of her affinity for fire. And he could sure as hell trust her. At least, he hoped as much – she’d watched his back once. She could do it again… right?

Without spending a moment more of contemplation, he grasped Willow’s wrist, dragging her along as he curtly treaded over to the table of his lovely friend. “Anastasia!” he called for her attention, attempting to wave, a movement that ended rather pathetically due to his occupied hands. No matter, formalities weren’t important. “Can you do something fo –“

His voice died in his throat, his eyes narrowing in on the boy she stood with as his footsteps halted, a sudden look of disdain crossing his face. “Who the hell are you?” he sputtered. Or, moreover, ‘Who are you, to talk to my friend?’ The first year released his grip on the wrist of the Hufflepuff Keeper, taking a moment to look his new acquaintance up and down, as if a critical chef observing the work of a lesser artist. Well, he was certainly good-looking, the boy couldn’t help but note. Perhaps a face to contest his own – too bad he was definitely the hottest guy at Hogwarts, hands down. [At least, that’s what he told himself to help him sleep at night.] Anastasia liked pretty faces, huh? That was fine. Didn’t mean Raf approved. Who was this kid, anyways, chatting it up with his friend? Such a thought was puzzling, and he was left imagining the relation of the two.

No – don’t get distracted, mate, he chided himself, his eyes quickly widening in realization of his actions. There would be a time to address such things. Now was the time for action. “You know what, never mind,” he voiced, shaking his head and refocusing his gaze on his platonic soulmate. “Listen, Ana, this is important, yeah?” Without much regard towards permissions or cordiality, he quickly shoved the vase into her arms, being careful not to prick himself nor her. “I need you to hold on to these for me. Whatever you do, don’t prick your finger.” Then, backing up in the slightest, and looking around with a hint of suspicion, “If anyone else comes for the vase other than me – “

" – burn them.”

He would leave it at that. She could be angry at him, but really, did such emotions truly hold grounds at the moment? There was something going on, surely she would be able to acknowledge that. Besides, didn’t she like burning things? Technically, he was doing her a favor. At least, that’s what he told himself as he dragged Willow once more towards the refreshments table, releasing her wrist as to grab two drinks. “I’m really sorry about all of this,” he muttered to her. “I may need your assistance yet.” It occurred to him then – perhaps the girl didn’t even want answers. Perhaps she was just curious, regarding the mysterious flowers he’d just handed off to his good friend. Was it that he’d kidnapped the girl? Was he a terrible acquaintance? Maybe. Did he care? …perhaps a little bit.

However, he would try to disregard such feelings as he walked up to his date and her company once again, putting an easy look upon his features. “Guess who I found over at the refreshments table?” he’d asked cheerily, nodding towards the lovely Hufflepuff Keeper. Then, turning towards Lydia, “Here, for you.” He passed her the drink, watching as she received it, a look of dejection alight on her face. Dammit, he’d screwed up. What a man he was. Though, quickly shaking his head, he dismissed the thought, turning once again to the posse of Slytherins amassed in front of him. “Miss anything eventful?” he added with a charming smile. “Thomas, why is it, that you’re covered in pumpkin juice, again?”[/font]

The girl had indeed not seen him coming, but, judging by her calm reaction, didn't seem too startled by his direct approach. In fact, Vincent wondered if she actually had fully, consciously registered his somewhat unexpected frontal attack, as she too introduced herself, holding out her hand, but did not react to his half-finished question. Apparently she hadn't picked up on it – or she decided to ignore it. Instead she conjured up a question of her own, seemingly rather carefully asked, with quite some reserve. Only natural of course, his introduction was after all a bit harsh. He would probably have reacted in similar fashion had it been him that was ambushed like this.

Yet he sensed there was more to it. She seemed somewhat... off, distracted perhaps. As if she had to divide her attention between two worlds. Either way, this pretty much proved his initial observation seemed to be correct. She was clearly preoccupied with something, something that prevented her from paying her undivided attention to him. Vincent, who by now had already figured out this was going to be a tough conversation, shook her hand briefly and replied rather curtly and on guard. "Yes, I do. That's actually why I came to talk to..." Just like a minute ago his sentence was left unfinished. This time however the interference came from an outside source.

Smack in the middle of Vincent's reply a boy, clearly lost in thought, almost collided with Evelynn. He managed to stop just a few inches short from actually hitting her. He saw a look of recognition in Evelynn's eyes. Apparently the two knew each other as the boy, right after apologizing to her, called her by her name and started talking to her, asking her if she was enjoying the ball. She replied to his inquiry, asking him the same question and after a few seconds she introduced Vincent to him. He politely greeted the boy, but remained silent after that as Evelynn and the boy kept talking. He felt a bit uncomfortable being in this particular the situation, like being the fifth wheel on the wagon.

Vincent looked at Evelynn. Even while talking to the other boy he saw her gaze wander off once more. He turned his head in the direction she was staring at, but had no idea which of the many people that were in the line of sight kept drawing her attention time and time again. There simply were too many options. Vincent shrugged his shoulders. It was none of his business anyway, so there really was no need to try and figure it out. Whatever way you turn it though, this conversation turned out to be somewhat of a fiasco for Vincent and he felt he should try to minimize the damage as much as he could. At that moment he decided, because she seemed to have more pressing matters to deal with than to talk to him – and perhaps to the other boy as well - it would most likely be best to cut his losses and leave it be. At least for now. Whatever he wanted to talk about probably wasn't of any significance anyway. If fate wanted them to meet again, it would happen and if not, well, so be it. He turned his face towards her and addressed her as soon as there was a silence in the conversation between her and the other boy.

"Look Evelynn, don’t get this wrong, but you’re obviously otherwise engaged at the moment.” Vincent said with a sincere, friendly smile on his face. “I didn't mean to intrude or interfere in any way, which, as it seems, in fact is exactly what I did. Once again I apologize, I'll leave you to your business now. This is clearly not the right time, perhaps we'll meet again under different circumstances. It's probably not that important anyway. It's been a pleasure meeting you, even though it was rather short-lived. I hope you have a pleasant evening. And you too of course." The last words were directed at the boy he was introduced to a few moments earlier and who was standing next to him. Vincent smiled softly to the both of them, picked up his drink, gave the two a short nod and walked towards the dance floor looking for someone to have a chat with. At least he learned her name.

For a Quidditch Captain this guy was a mess. Not that she could really judge him, she was the one that had snuck up on him in the first place. She had never really interacted the boy more than once on that fateful day in the owlery where he was hiding. She always seemed to find him rather than the other way around, which was easy since he was basically a giant. As he yelped like an adorable puppy and leaped up, she stepped back. Her hands came up in a sort of gesture to show she didn't mean any harm. It was just a vase of flowers, why was he so worried about hiding it?

A flood of concern came over her face, Rafael's face wasn't hard to examine to see the nervousness written all over him. After what seemed like a long pause of silence she opened her mouth to say something, until he spoke. Rushed. Like he had a mission he was on, but wasn't she at the same time? Inspecting the suspicious Gryffindor, he didn't really seem suspicious. Just scared for something. Slowly Willow nodded as he spoke in hushed tones, whatever he needed from her she was ready to provide within reason. He had to be trustworthy, right? He was from the house of the brave, and was a captain of a wonderful (albeit, on a losing streak until recently) quidditch team. "I'm here with you Rafael, just lead and I'll follow. That's what friends are for." Her concerned frown was replaced with a bright smile of reassurance. She didn't need to be adding to his worry. "Such pretty flowers to be worried about though." She spoke with a sigh before shrugging it off. Rafael would fill her in eventually, hopefully.

As Rafael's eyes seemed to dance around the ball, she tried to follow. Especially when they landed on someone that seemed to upset him. They were trained on... Flash and Ruka? Yeah that anger was fair, she was feeling it too. Although, she didn't know what Rafael's reason for anger was. Her eyes stayed locked on them, clumsily dancing the night away. Embarrassing, she could've done better. "I asked Ruka to the ball, what a mistake that was. He ditched me twice within a few minutes and decided to have his first dance with Flash instead of me. I don't know what's going on with those two." Rafael had moved on with his gaze and she was thrown off when Rafael grabbed her by the wrist and started dragging her somewhere. A small noise of surprise emerged as she almost toppled over but she quickly regained her bearings.

As they approached someone she recognized, now with a lot less tears, she gave a small wave. "Hi Ana, good to see you again." She sent a nod over to the boy with her who she didn't recognize, and obviously Rafael didn't either. Willow rocked back and forth on her heels watching the interaction innocently with curious eyes. Rafael was a firecracker like her obviously, and that excited her. Quick to anger, to show disdain if he wanted to. It made her feel more comfortable with him in a way to have that similarity. Though she would never admit she had that quality if asked outright. An eyebrow perked up when Rafael mentioned the importance of not pricking their fingers on the plant. Was it poisonous? It sounded like something out of the story of Sleeping Beauty. Why hadn't he just gotten rid of them before the ball if he knew they were there?

Sadly, there was no time to tell Ana how beautiful she looked before she was dragged away again. She rolled her eyes as she was grabbed by her wrist, being lowkey obviously wasn't Rafael's strong suit. She reached over with her other hand and pried his hand off her wrist before moving to interlace her fingers with his. "If you're trying to be sneaky, maybe don't make it look as if you're dragging a girl half the size of you around. That's only going to raise suspicions. Strategy, right Captain?" She looked up at him with a wink, playful. She wanted him to know she was along for the ride, no matter the cost. When they did reach the table she would let go and grab a drink of her own, another pumpkin juice. It had become her favorite drink ever since coming to Hogwarts.

Off to another group they went, this time with a couple of familiar faces. Another small wave as she addressed them. "Lydia, you look absolutely beautiful. You too, Wren right?" They had met a couple times, first at an impromptu meet up in the ballroom late at night, and then again in making sweets for the new Divination professor. They hadn't said much to each other though. With a polite nod of greeting to the boy she shared time under a willow tree, she returned to a silence as Rafael questioned someone new named Thomas, and his predicament with pumpkin juice.

Suddenly, she really was more confused about what the night held for her, as Rafael didn't provide anymore answers than raising more questions.

Crystal looked up from her "meal" at the newcomer to the table. Mildred, was her name? If she heard it correctly over the chitter and chatter of the others around her. She smiled softly at Mildred "Crystal, Crystal Jagger," She introduced herself. She took a bite out of a carrot and peered at Mildred, confused as to why she would want to talk to her. But she was already here, so might as well start some sort of meaningful conversation. "So, um-" Her mind wasn't exactly supplying her with the right words to use to get a good conversation starting. She was generally better at that than she is right now. Must be the amount of people here, the talking was making her loose her train of thought. She racked her brain for some sort of interesting thing to say, and her brain decided to go to probably the strangest thing she could think of. "Summer or winter?"
She nearly punched herself. Summer or winter? Crystal could have said anything, asked anything, asked what year she was, if she had any siblings. But her brain went to summer or winter? What kind of question even was that? She for one didn't know! She started to chew on her lip, a nervous habit. Continuing to mentally slap herself as the she waited for Mildred to question her sanity, or even just walk away. That's what most people did anyways back home.

Dancing alone on the dance floor

As the young girl laughed and spun around from dancing, she stopped as Willow began to speak. Her face furrowed into a thoughtful almost upset expression as Willow urged her to approach Pericles. "I... I should, a-and I do deserve that dance, Will. But..." Breana paused as Willow mentioned of how the ball isn't even an official one in the first place. "Y-yeah... B-but still--" Despite continuing her excuses, Willow was already off and away from the dancing. "Wha-- wait! Will--Willow!!" She whimpered, but it was too late.

Now she's in the middle of the dance floor.

Alone.

With two choices in her little overthinking mind.

She fiddled with her fingers, now feeling more vulnerable considering that she doesn't have a friend like Willow to bounce off to and ignore the people surrounding her. Now, at least her friend left her with a choice: Talk to her date or continue dancing with the tinge of anxiety that people would see. The first one would be easy enough if it weren't for the fact that they just started dancing themselves. Cutting in would be too rude to do. Still, Willow's words have been ringing in her head. He is her date after all, and her mother did teach her to take the bull by the horns, especially when it comes to what you'd do for your heart. As Breana was taking the first few steps, she held back. No, her mother to be ambitious, but her father taught her to be courteous.

And so, she's back to where she is: standing on the dance floor. Breana still wants to get her fun groove on, so what if she's the only one to do it? She balled up her hands up into fists, mentally reassuring herself. If she did a dance like the macarena or the chicken dance without a friend, that would be the end of her socially. She was going into a more traditional dance anyways, with mimicking what her father does, so might as well go with that. She never formally danced the cha-cha, but that's what she and her father do as their go-to default dance. Hopefully, it can translate well with her doing it solo.

Breana started it off with lifting a large portion of her dress up since she knew that this sort of dancing will need a lot of legwork. She started her dancing with some subtlety, nervous of the possible people that would notice her. Still, it's better than sitting down on the sidelines or interrupting someone else's dance. She let out a long sigh, trying to help herself get over her nerves. After a while, her movement became more fluid, more natural. Granted, it's not the most graceful, but anyone can see the spirit in it if they watched her long enough. The flow of her dress also moving in tune to her dance, her eyes cast downward on her feet to avoid eye contact with anyone and also making sure she won't accidentally trip on herself.

Wyatt walked over to the quidditch pitch still wondering if he should just turn around. He came alone, because of course he did. He wasn’t very social. Not that he hated people, but they weren’t so good to him in the past. He didn’t want to provoke bullies, let alone bullies who know magic, so he just kept quiet most of the time. Dressed in all black with his dad’s old, brown, plaid jacket he felt so out of place. He looked around at all the beautiful people and their beautiful dresses and suits. He subconsciously made himself small. He looked over at all the happy people on the dance floor and sighed. I shouldn’t be here, I should be studying, this is a waste of time. The common room calls me. Wyatt looked back towards the castle, half hoping the school would somehow lift him up and bring him back to the damp basement- where he felt safe.
If he left now people would notice how he just up and left after a minute of standing and looking into nothing. They’d think he didn’t like the party- that it wasn’t good enough for him, that he was a spoiled brat. They’d tease him. If he stopped caring and skipped over to the dance floor, and danced alone like a maniac, they’d think he’s crazy. They’d tease him. If he walked over to the food and stood there with a glass of water, they’d think he’s a weirdo. That he was plotting how to murder each of them- that he was one of those Slytherins. They’d tease him. No! Wyatt was not overthinking this. He was thinking a normal amount about all this. A normal amount of thinking. He was overthinking overthinking things. “Good lord…” Wyatt caught himself before he started talking to himself even more. They’d tease him. Not willing to let his brain win, he finally made his plan. He was going to get water. Then sit. Then leave after 5 minutes, and not look anyone in the eye once. Good plan. Wyatt sighed again, and walked over to the refreshments table. The plan was in motion.

As they were walking around the pitch, Lydia could tell that the Gryffindor Captain had something bothering him, his answers were quite short, and he looked distracted; but what really gave his state of mind away was his answer to Lydia's words about wanting to talk to him somewhere more private. When he had looked down at her, she had managed to give him a short smile, before his eyes were already back looking around them, but not in the directions of the things that the Hufflepuff girl was pointing out. This of course only made Lydia worry more, her mind already full of doubts: why was he acting that way, did he even want to be there with her or was there someone else he actually wanted to see?

A lot of questions like these were going through the girl's mind, and even when Wren answered her question all that Lydia could do was nod along, as she looked at Rafael standing next to her; he was looking again somewhere, and after barely acknowledging the other people there - Victor, Thomas and Selim were the people Rafael had talked with, but the red headed girl could only pin Thomas' name with the boy that was covered in pumpkin juice- the Gryffindor boy had left her there, standing confused next to Wren, the bouquet still in her hand.

What the hell is going on?

Thought Lydia as she followed Rafael with her eyes, only to see him stop at the refreshment table. She turned back towards the new company, realising that the boy probably just wanted to grab something to drink, even though she still couldn't shake the feeling that something was bothering him. He had randomly gone from being kind of goofy, with the whole bowing down tooter her his hand, to being completely distracted and distant.

Lydia's mind kept obsessing over Aurelia's words as well, and slowly the fear that the older girl might have been right creeped on her more and more; if that was true, if Raphael was really with Anastasia, it would have made sense for him to be that distracted, he probably wanted to keep an eye out for her, in case she might have seen them together perhaps?

Completely ignoring what was going on around her, the red blue haired girl turned around again, only to see her date, with a really big vase of roses in his hands, talking to Willow. She frowned, not really understanding where he had gotten that from, and for who they might have been; she kept observing the two talking, her curiosity and doubts only growing bigger when the Gryffindor boy reached for Willow's wrist and started walking with her somewhere. The more she followed them with her eyes, the more Lydia felt her heart sink, surrounded by a weird coldness that spread all over her chest and that made her heartbeat rise slightly, and when Willow interlaced her fingers with Rafael's ones, before winking at him, Lydia tightened her grip over the bouquet.

What was Willow doing with her date? Did she have to steal him from her? Didn't she have her own date?

If Lydia though that things could not have gone worse for her, the moment that Rafael, and Willow, reached Anastasia and the boy gave her the roses, the Hufflepuff girl felt her heart break; Aurelia had been right from the beginning, he really was with Anastasia, wasn't he? She felt so stupid. Stupid and naive and just... hurt. Why did he even ask her to the dance? Why put her through all of that, only to ditch her and then run off to his girlfriend?

Lydia frowned and looked down at the flowers in her hand, her knuckles now white for how strong she had been squeezing her fingers. She had never been the jealous type, not really, but since she had met the Gryffindor Captain and since the whole thing with her mother had happened, Lydia had found so many new emotions inside of her, trying to overpower and overwhelm her.

She almost jumped up in surprise when Rafael spoke next to her, bringing her out of her trance; her eyes darted towards Willow, and she couldn't help the little frown - and not at all a glare - that she gave to her. Without even answering her compliment, she took the glass from Rafael's hand as she looked up at him, only to find him almost ignoring her as he charmingly chatted with the other students. Lydia clenched her jaw, feeling angry and upset and hurt as she stared down at the drink in her hand, the temptation to just pour it all over the Gryffindor's face really strong. She didn't though, she resisted the urge and instead sipped on it, letting the sweet taste of the juice fill her mouth.

Not able to concentrate on what was happening around her, Lydia's mind just kept going over, and over again, the image of Rafael and Anastasia, while at the same time she kept hearing Aurelia's words, and the more she thought about all of that, the angrier she got as hot tears started accumulating in her eyes. She took a quick deep breath, battling her eyelashes fast as she tried to regain control of herself, but in vain. She didn't want to cry there, not in front of all those people, but especially not in front of him, he had already seen her cry once, by the lake, and she didn't want it to happen again.

"I-I'm sorry, I have to go," she said, her voice flat, before she turned around and started walking away. She didn't know if Rafael had tried to stop her, or talk to her, she was too busy trying not to completely loose control over her emotions. After she carelessly placed the bouquet and her drink on a nearby table, Lydia started to look around, hoping to find Aaron; she desperately needed to tell him what happened, to be with someone that would have just accepted her for how she was. When she finally saw him, Lydia quickly walked up to him, and once she reached him she gave the other girl he was talking with a small smile.

"Hi, I'm so sorry to interrupt you guys. Aaron, could I steal you for a couple of minutes?" She asked as she lightly touched Aaron's arm, her whole face tense as she tried her best not to cry again.

The blonde boy next to Evelynn had completely escaped Aaron's notice until after he had said hello. As soon as he noticed him, Aaron sent the boy a polite smile. "Yes, the decorations were my friend Lydia's ideas. She thought of the theme and everything," Aaron said, beaming as Evelynn complimented the look of the ball. He nodded when she asked if he was having a good time too. "It's been great so far- I've seen a lot of friendly faces and been talking to lots of new people, too."

As Evelynn offered her hand, Aaron was slightly surprised but he took it nevertheless. "Nice to properly meet you, Evelynn," he said, shaking her hand and promptly releasing it. Seems like she was a bit more formal than the friends he'd made in Hufflepuff. "Oh, nice to meet you, Vincent!" Aaron added, smiling broadly at the boy beside them. As Evelynn then spoke about him knowing her name, he realized he hadn't introduced himself properly. How embarrassing.

He had (mistakenly) assumed she would know who he was, but it's not like he was very noteworthy. The only real reason he knew her was because he had made it a mission to learn the names and faces of all the Quidditch team players in the school. He'd been to every Hogwarts game, so it wasn't hard for him to eventually memorize everyone. Especially with all the research he had done on the teams, preparing for the day when he himself would be on the Hufflepuff team.

"I'm Aaron Jones," he finally introduced, looking first at Evelynn then at Victor with equally pleasant smiles. "I'm a waitlisted Chaser for Hufflepuff," he said, this time directing his conversation more to Evelynn. "I played in that unofficial match a couple weeks ago," he explained, hoping that she would remember him. It's not like he'd done anything particularly impressive, but it had been his first ever Quidditch match and he had made his first ever goal. "I did want to congratulate you, though - on leading Gryffindor to victory during your game against Slytherin. That was a great match!" he complimented, totally oblivious to the fact that Vincent was feeling a bit left out. When the blonde boy suddenly spoke up, it was shocking to Aaron.

"Vincent, I-" Aaron wanted to apologize, feeling awful that the boy felt like he couldn't join the two of them. He never wanted to make someone feel like they were unwelcome. But the boy had left before Aaron got a chance to explain, so the twelve-year-old turned to Evelynn with a frown. "I'm so sorry, I feel like I should've been the one to leave-" he said, still unsure why the boy had left with such suddenness.

Before he could say anything else, Aaron felt a hand on his dark suit jacket and turned to find his best friend at his side. At first, he smiled and was glad to have the opportunity to say hello and compliment her new hairdo. But then she spoke and he could hear it in her voice. Aaron's smile once more turned to a frown and he resisted the urge to demand what had happened then and there. It was pretty clear she was upset, and he needed to know - but maybe not in front of present company. Aaron looked from his best friend back to Evelynn, a smaller smile on his face now. He was having to exercise a lot of restraint not to look for Rafael in the crowd and glare, just knowing that the guy had done something wrong. He knew this was going to happen!

"Evelynn, this is my friend Lydia Cooper," Aaron introduced, having noticed how formal the auburnette was about meeting people. "I'm sorry to leave so suddenly, but I did promise her a dance earlier-" he said, feeling bad about having to abandon the girl after the blonde boy had just done the same. But Lydia was his best friend, and she would always come first.

Aida gave a peaceful smile at Alexander's philosophical musings and at the suggestion of exploring together. Then when he mentioned England, Aida squinted.

"I never asked you where you came from, did I? Where were you before England and do you still have ties to that place? I think you mentioned becoming a craftsman in the library, too. What kind of crafts do you like? Do you know how to make stuff? Can you teach me?" Aida was talking rapidly and excitedly. "You know, I think you would make a good strategist. It's good that there isn't a war on, but you would have been really useful back during the previous ones. I would never want you to get hurt though..." Aida put her hands behind her back and looked up at, well, whatever happened to be above them at the time, it did not really matter. So long as she was looking away she would not have to face the fact that she was developing an attachment to another living creature again. One that could be cruelly torn away or jeopardized.

Since not a lot seemed to be going on around the main area, Aida walked with Alexander out to the stands. As they were walking, she could not help but wonder what he had been reluctant to talk about before, in the library. While he seemed to be opening up a bit now there must be something very important about how he found out about magic. She was very attentive to such details in general, but ever since she had first met Alexander she had felt something was different... and she needed to know why.

"Actually, I don't know anything about your parents. What is your family like? Do you know the etymology of your surname?" Aida snuck a glance at Alexander but then looked away quickly.

May was relieved when she heard that Lizzie wasn't jealous at all. She just didn't like jealous people, or even jealous people for no reason, like now, May thought that she was jealous because she had thought Blake and May were together. Not that they were anyways. But at least, May was glad that Lizzie wasn't jealous, or anything of the sort.

"Oof, yes, and I would rather marry my ballet shoes than marry a man too, May joked too, while laughing at Lizzie's joke.

"What instrument do you play? I play the piano"mMay said, trying to sound friendly, so that they would forget the little thing that happened.

"By the way, I'm May, May Moonstar. I'm a Hufflepuff she said, politely.

As they cheered there glasses up, May was feeling quite dizzy all of a sudden.
Her dress and makeup were giving her a headache, and she felt like she wanted to vomit.

"Sorry, I better head to the changing room. I'm not feeling quite well," May said, quite dizzy. All the talk of the other guests was filling up her mind, and she was starting to have a headache.

"It's good I have another outfit in this bag. It's not at all fancy, but....hope you don't mind, Blake," May said.

She runned to the changing room as fast as she could./quote]
