ROUND 2 MOD POST
(Group 14)

Image posted by the member

Group 14’s attempts at getting through the door were fast and efficient, something extremely useful for a maze, where no-one knew what would happen next. Nico stood back, cheering on the older people in his team, not wanting to make a mistake. Although, the oldest people in the team just stood back, leaving it to the second and third years. Ariana was the first to pull out her wand, setting a good example for the rest of her group. Archer followed suit, unnecessarily. Ariana’s spell hit first, perfectly cast. Archer’s spell also flew perfectly, but it was unnecessary - but, it was best to be prepared just in case.

Upon Ariana’s successful casting of Reducio, the golden key shrinks up, a glistening shine covering the key as it becomes just the right size. With the newly shrunken key, the players would find it a perfect fit into the door’s keyhole! The lock seemed to glow and hum, as if in approval at the players' success. Twisting the key, players would hear a click. In the blink of an eye, light glowed from the door as the material chipped away into dust, revealing a now-empty doorway.

Obstacle 3

Stepping past this doorway, players would be faced with an opulent yard fit for a queen. In the centre of it was a huge, luxurious pool made of shiny marble and adorned with ruby gemstone statues. The water was a brilliant, shimmering teal in the pool, quite unlike regular water, and under the sunlight, the sight was almost blinding.

The pool would have been perfect for a summer party– If not for what seemed to be a death machine in the middle of it. A flat path of emerald grass connected one end of the pool to the other, and hanging atop it was what seemed to be an axe. Back and forth the axe swung over the centre of the path, blocking the path to the next obstacle! Thankfully, if any players squinted, they would realise the axe is almost akin to a soft pillow version of the real deal.

Tighten those shoelaces and watch your step, challengers! You're going to have to make a mad dash.

Archer could be damned if he did not take credit for every innovative strategy, yet when it came out of the lips of his best friend, it could have very well been his own.

With a whisper in his ear like the passing of wind, and a wink offered back as he stepped away, Archer came out of their brief exchange with the value of a tactic, and readied his wand once more. For these brief hours, he had no qualms with being the trusted brawn — there was a unconditional confidence Prat had in him that brought his brain rest and his body comfort. With the accumulated year as on the piste, and a spell rarely failing, he readied his wand with little comment and casted, “Immobulus.”

He watched the faux axe, awaiting it to come to a stop, and would offer the assembled group a glance and a small, yet rather dramatic, bow, with a rare grin crossing his face. He turned towards his companion, then gestured for him to go first, only to soon be pleasantly surprised by the furthering of their plan.

They certainly will be no regular group, completing the obstacles in commonplace methods. No, there was some calling for not extravagance, but creativity, that drawn the best to ever attempt these challenges.

Even if Prat knew nothing, he knew his role here, Prat wasn't the best spell caster in this squad. No, that would be Archer and Ariana. He wasn't the strongest either, that was Thales. But Prat knew his role in this group, he identified it the moment this group had formed. All of them were here to win, to be exceptional, to come out on top of....all this.

It was exactly the place Prat wanted to be, with their flawless execution of the previous stages, Prat was quite confident in the things they were about to encounter. Coming into the next stage, Prat was delighted with the lack of puzzle. While a little offended, it was alright for the group. They did deserve a little break after all—for all their fabulous planning so far.

The group huddled together as plans were exchanged, suggestions for a better approach in whispers were exchanged and through it all a plan had formed; quite a linear one at that. Strategy was quite simple for an obstacle so mundane, so redundant in it's existence.

Arch would carry out his task, Prat had no doubt in his mind when it came to Duncan's capabilities. With his wand out, Prat was ready to go into phase 2 of their plan.

───𝕵ust as the archer was about to make her aim – the wand she wielded hardly foreign to the touch, the grain's streaks familiar to her grip – a tap on her shoulder brought a halt to her movements. Turning to its source, Ariana saw the visage of a certain Hogwarts student in their group who went by the name of Archer if she recalled correctly.

"With all due respect, stranger, I don’t quite trust you, allow me."

The boy seemed to believe that he had the upper hand, but perhaps he hadn't quite thought things through. Ariana respected it, the sincerity, the initial distrust. Scrutinizing his expression, the doubt and aversion came through, the werewolf's eyes meeting his.

"And yet, it seems we feel the same about strangers." There was no repugnance nor snappiness in her words, only understanding and decided finality. "Your sincerity is appreciated. I am capable, however."

Before the stranger would have the chance to do so, Ariana cast the spell on the key and watched with hidden satisfaction as it shrunk. She did not meet the eyes of the Duncan boy to say 'told you so'. Her actions said enough, and after all, she understood the motifs behind his uncertainty.

After pushing the door open, they were enveloped in a room of opulence and glamour. Ahead of them stood an obstacle that would need dealing with, however, unless they wanted to be beheaded in this children's activity. It made things interesting. After discussing for a moment with the group, the plan had been finalized, although decisively not an ideal one. Being carried on one's back as she would cast the spell was more terrifying than the axe itself. But the huntress would not hinder her team, and she knew that her role was vital in the plan they had formed.

After having proven her competence during the previous obstacle, she was given the role of caster once more, her action thus far being "Arresto Momentum" on the axe in front of them. She could only hope her attempts would not be in vain.

Back and forth the axe swung over the grassy path across the pool. The axe glinted under the glow of sunshine, as if truly made of metal, and its weight made intimidating swishing noises in the air. Two people cast a spell – Archer’s immobblius hit the axe just before Ariana’s arresto momentum hit it. The spells were both well cast – those two were showing themselves to be extremely advanced spell casters for their age, their spells working perfectly twice in a row. Their teachers at Hogwarts and Castelobruxo would be proud of them if they were here. But, they weren’t. It was just this group of students. The axe slowed down, but kept swinging. Prat picked up Archer, and ran across, dodging the slow moving axe easily. Ariana was left on the other side, still with her wand out in front of her.
Thankfully, she wasn’t alone – Thales and Nico were also stuck on the far side, not having run across. Prat and Archer would have to wait for a bit longer while their team mates tried to run across too. Hopefully they wouldn’t be stuck for too long. They were so close to the end. Yet, currently, still far.
