Mikey stood just off to the side of the pitch, fingers curled a little tighter around the handle of his broom than they needed to be.
The noise of the crowd rolled over everything but it all felt distant. Like it wasn’t really aimed at him. Like he was just standing near it instead of in it.
He was the starting keeper now. The words had been sitting in his head since the moment they were announced, repeating over and over like they were trying to settle into place and just weren’t quite managing it.
He dragged a hand back through his hair, eyes dropping briefly to the ground before lifting again, scanning the hoops at the far end of the field. His end of the field. His responsibility.

Quinn smiled as she made her way down the quidditch pitch. She had felt a little bit couped up in the school, stressing about the end of year exams and all of that. She was glad to have a reason to leave all that behind and to just get out of studying for a day and fly around. And here they were. The final match of the year. The big boss. The insurmountable enemy. The ever-looming team Ravenclaw. Last year, she had gone into this match with a lot less worries. It was the borbs who had to perform then, with it being Cloven's last match. This time...
Well, if @Mamori Anezaki wasn't going to acknowledge it, she would.
"Hey..." Camilla nudged @Atlas Reid, their ace keeper and (alongside Avery McCall), the foundation upon which the entire team was built. It was their last match at Hogwarts. "...Let's make this one to remember."

But with it as well this time came the knowledge of the end of the year drawing even closer. Something about that settled low in her stomach, anxious and ever-present. She paid it no heed for now, though. There were more important things to focus on.
Avery looks to Atlas as well, lifting her bat in a half salute. "We'll make sure it's a good one for you," she vows in tandem. It'd feel strange not having the older keeper around any longer after this, especially as the last member of that team from her first year. The girl certainly didn't expect becoming Hufflepuff's newest quidditch captain on their very last match of the year, but she was excited nonetheless. Even not playing, just observing was awesome enough, and she gets to help her team strategize which is probably one of her favourite things about the role.
----Obviously the world isn't all smiles, she was told this was going to be the hardest match of the year. Harumi had her fill of watching people fall off brooms already, but by now she had an immunity and was going to watch every last thing, she wasn't just a player this time, she is a captain, and she has to be there for her team.
----She was lost in thought for a long time until she saw her teammates kick off, she smiled and silently wished them luck. Her team is awesome, they can win.

Daphne loved spring, the older she got the more different she felt but also more free. She allowed her hair to flow its natural pale color, no longer hiding her part-Veela side as she had for so many years. A grin was on her face and she tightened her grip on the broom, awaiting for the whistle. She had a feeling that today would be a great game and was thankful to have such a supportive team for all these years. It was time for Hufflepuff to win again.

| xxx | It was difficult to believe how quickly the year had flown by. In the blink of an eye, the team had already played two of the three matches of the season, and taking place now was the last match of the year. It was wondrous — yet scary — how fast time seemed to dash from one point to another. Something even more frightening was the fact that @Aly Salinger and @Jorah Moussa were going to be leaving; this was their final match. The former, the team’s dearest captain, had been there since the very beginning; Ebony still recalled her very first match — also against Hufflepuff — where Aly had saved her from a plummet back when the girl was still a Keeper. The brunette hadn’t exchanged many words with the latter, her fellow beater whom she very much looked up to, but she would certainly miss the bludgers exchanged between them. Reflecting upon the beginning — Merlin, it was so long ago — brought an overwhelming yet familiar wave of nostalgia. It seemed the weather deities had decided to bless the seniors’ final match, for the sky was tinted with the soft glow of the sun, complemented by a gentle breeze (unlike the team’s last match, where rain had pelted the players into oblivion). Mounting her broom and launching herself into the Quidditch airspace that had by now become a very familiar sight, the beater felt the customary sense of freedom that came with flight. That said, the girl’s hands were clutching her broom in a tighter grip than usual, a strange exacerbated nervousness overcoming her. Perhaps it was because she knew that this match would be a difficult one, or perhaps it was because it was the senior’s final game. Regardless of the reason, the apprehension shifted into an uncharacteristic determination that only presented itself during Quidditch matches. She would try her utmost hardest to ensure Jorah and Aly’s Hogwarts Quidditch careers would conclude on a high note. |

Landon took a deep breath of the fresh air as he walked out to the Quidditch Pitch for the last match of the school year. Not only was this the last match for Atlas, but it was the last match that Landon would spend on the bench. Granted, the other team could get him in the game. Landon took his seat on the bench, smiling softly. Sure, the game was going to be a hard one, but he was hopeful that Hufflepuff could do well. He looked at Atlas, giving her a thumbs up of encouragement. He wasn't the most vocal of the Hufflepuff team, but he was a steadfast supporter of everyone. Landon didn't know if she saw his thumbs up, but he shrugged and smiled anyway. He prepared to watch the battle that the game was going to be.

─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────After last match's win, Lyanna strode onto the pitch with a boost of confidence, her trusty Moontrimmer resting on her shoulder. The broom has served her well thus far, and she was lucky to have it. Being a second string, she had the advantage of being able to observe the other team's tactics and weather conditions before kicking off the ground herself.
Their star keeper Atlas would be leaving them at the end of this very school year, and it hurt to think of the gaping hole that would remain once she was gone. This match was for her, every point made, each blow taken. Atlas Reid would remember this match, and she knew each member of her team was going to make it a good one for her. That was how they functioned, Hufflepuff at their core despite the many different forms that had. Undying loyalty for those who matter.
Taking her place in the stands, the sunchild allowed the rays of light coming from the orb shining above, a pearl too bright and beautiful to look at for too long but too entrancing to take one's eyes off of all the same. As the match commenced, Lyanna watched the first strings fly up into the air and begin the final battle of the year.
