Arin is born in Rouen, Paris, to an aristocratic French pureblood line. His father, Aurélien Varen, was a former employee in the French Ministry of Magic. His mother, Sylvie Varen, is a healer who, after relocating, works in St. Mungo's. Since childhood, his father has always expected perfection from him, which has put a lot of pressure on him. But his mother was always there to welcome him with a warm cup of tea and hugs. That doesn't mean he was close to his mother. He used to, until he started noticing how his mother never sided with him in front of his dad. This left a subtle doubt in him. When his family moved to England when he was four years old, so for him, English became more of his first language. But in his house, speaking French was mandatory. Though he wasn't fully fluent in French, he could still converse in it without hesitating. |

Arin's first accidental magic occurred when he was six, during a rare moment when his emotions actually overran him. He had spent hours building a careful arrangement of wooden blocks — a little city he refused to let anyone touch. When one of his older cousins knocked it over by accident, the shock hit him so sharply that he didn’t even have time to cry. Every block in the room shot upward, whirling into the air like a miniature storm. Books snapped open on their own, parchment scattered, and the curtains wrapped tightly around themselves as if caught in a wind no one else could feel. Arin stood in the middle of it, trembling, watching his own chaos with wide eyes. The moment lasted only seconds before everything crashed back to the floor. |

───〃★ The ability to speak to snakes wasn't a common talent even in the magical world, and for the Varen family, it was a secret buried under layers of family history and conflicts. For generations, the Varen family lived as a quiet, unassuming wizarding family, unaware that the blood of Parselmouth is still running in their veins. The gift had been gone for generations, skipping over grandfathers and aunties alike, until it finally manifested in Arin. It was as if the gift was searching for a worthy one. The family history suggests that the last surviving ancestor to have the "Serpent's Tongue" lived on the marshy edges of some forgotten estate. For Arin, the discovery of this gift was as natural as breathing, which made it more eerie for him to know that others can't hear or understand them. The first instance occurred when Arin was barely four years old, during a summer afternoon in the overgrown gardens of their now estranged manor in France. He had been exploring the tall grasses near the stone walls when he encountered a Montpellier. To any other child, it would be the scariest moment, but to Arin, it was a conversation. He didn't hear hisses or rhythmic clicking; he heard a voice, dry, rasping, and oddly formal. The snake was complaining about not getting enough sun and the lack of field mice in the area. Without thinking, Arin replied that in the basements, the maids had recently put rat traps, where the snake could find its food. It wasn't until his mother, watching from a distance, dropped her porcelain teacup that Arin realised something was wrong. To her, her son wasn't speaking English; he was making low, hissing sounds. The realisation sent a shock throughout the household. While the Varens were not a 'dark' family, they understood the stigma attached to Parseltongue. They quickly moved to keep Arin's gift a secret, instructing him to never speak to those "crawling things" in the presence of anyone. However, for Arin, the gift became a source of quiet companionship. He found that snakes have a talent for noticing things that humans can never notice. They were observant, blunt, and saw the world through survival. When Arin moved to England, the change of language became a burden to him. Sounds that existed in one didn't exist in the other. But Parseltongue was something that felt more natural to him than any other language he would learn. The move to England brought more complexity to his secret. While he struggled to adapt his tongue to the sharp vowels of English, the snakes in his garden spoke the dialects that felt more familiar to him than French. He spent his final summer before Hogwarts wandering the woods near his new manor. Finding adders and grass snakes hiding behind ferns. Rather than making actual friends, he found comfort in the company of serpents. For everyone else, Arin was a quiet little boy who never made a sound too loud, but only the snakes behind his house know how much he talks in his broken language. To Arin, being a Parselmouth isn't a dark omen, but it was a piece of his heritage. And something that makes him, him, and not just a Varen. But Arin. |

Some of the starting years of his life were spent in France, where he was born and raised till the age of four. He lived in his ancestral house with his parents and grandparents. His grandmother was an infamous classical musician who taught him how to play the violin. They used to play together, where his grandmother made him practice foundational scales. Her Mamie was strict, but he enjoyed every single second with her. Until she passed away a few months after he had just turned four. The death of her grandma destroyed the unstable family further. His father asked for a transfer from his job at the French Ministry of Magic to the Ministry of Magic in Great Britain. |
 The Varen Family moved to Salisbury, England. His father, Aurélien Varen, was the one who was impacted more. The subtle hints of warmth in his eyes were completely gone. And the only image of his smiling dad was gone too. His mum, Sylvie Varen, a healer at St. Mungo's Wizarding Hospital. She was like a warm cup of tea, who was scared and worried for him because of his snake-tongue, still cared for him, and gave him love. Spring was at its peak, the recent screaming match between him and his father over his behaviour still shaken him. The only one the young boy actually felt calling his own was a small garden snake in the forgotten corner of his huge garden. His family hated his ability, a disgrace to the Varen name. The only way to have a conversation with them was in secret. The snakes were the only ones who truly understood him. He wanted to tell them how even his mère, his mother, didn't support him. She was just standing there looking at everything but him, while his father just screamed at him because he wasn't inviting enough to their guests. This triggered him to recall all the events, noticing his mère never actually supported him, ever.  |
