A Door Even Smaller
References "A Door Too Small" Backdated: April 17, 2020
For a Slytherin boy who prides himself as far removed as possible from the shenanigans most students his age got up to, there were a few mishaps that had haunted Dmitri Jones for quite a substantial amount of time after they've occurred.
One particular incident two years ago would come to mind.
It had then started out as a pretty normal day--he had a whole morning of lessons, did exceptionally well (big surprise), had a hearty lunch, and then started new lessons in the afternoon. The class got on without a hitch--it was Charms, and they learned a new spell incantation and its related wand movements, so of course it was a walk in the park. No. The problem only started after the lesson.
See, the charms classroom had only one door. One. Single. Bloody. Door.
It doesn't seem to anyone like an actual problem but it proved to be quite detrimental for the Slytherin boy.
Things began to go awry at the end of that particular class.
Dmitri, being the overachiever that he was, has long since studied and mastered the use of the taught spell and the lessons that came with it way in advance--which was probably why he was in deep sleep for the duration of the whole class. He only stirred when the class has officially ended and he was one of the few people left in the room. It was then only him, the professor, and another girl who has pretty slow in getting her affairs in order.
Long story short, a smaller Ravenclaw student in his year accidentally and very extremely mashed Dmitri's face into the Charms doorway on their way out of the classroom, igniting his full Slytherin rage and fostering a massive irrational fear of doors and doorways for years to come. For the next year, Dmitri had the strongest, uncontrollable urge to look left and right before ever going in or out of a doorway--being on the receiving end of a few concerned looks from his then peers.
It was only recently that he has recovered from this little quirk, but he should have known the moment of respite was not going to be long enough.
It was presently just another April day two years from the "incident", and Dmitri expected quite an uneventful exit from the Charms classroom--on the tail end of a gaggle of noisy third years. He planned on getting a few of his load of homework done so he could catch up on a bit of advanced reading. The know-it-all has recently been hooked on a few of Miranda Goshawk's work and the boy couldn't wait to get into it back in his dorm bed of solitude.
Everything was good.
Until Dmitri got to the doorway.

A Door Even Smaller
Delilah, the tiny little Ravenclaw lived her life fearing most things, most people, most events. That's what growing up in a secluded place with very few people and even less strangers and then being thrust into a school with hundreds if not thousands of strangers can do to you. She had already been at this school for almost 3 years, and yet every day she had to double check her surroundings. Especially since the day in first year, which she didn't remember terribly well, but she remembered everything she felt.
She had been minding her own business, this was before she had made a lot of the friends she had now, although she still didn't have very many, her life consists of going to class, writing down anything and everything that would help her remember, and then either going back to her dorm or to the library to study. She tried so hard to just belong in this school that she ended up not belonging. And a simple, tiny event that happens to thousands of people around the world just ruined her day, if not her week, if not her month.
A frustrating slytherin hadn't seen her, and she hadn't been paying enough attention to what was going on to see him, and they tried to go through the singular door exiting the charms classroom at the same time, which evidently didn't work. Delilah had apologised but of course he wouldn't take that. And that's how she met one of the most annoying people ever.
She hadn't spoken to him since, but every time they had a class together or passed each other in the halls, the snide looks that had been exchanged could even be classed as comical to onlookers.
Delilah was certainly taller since that event 2 years ago, but she certainly wasn't tall, at a total of 4'7", she was certainly still quite small in comparison to those in her year, and she was pretty skinny too, she wasn't one to eat a lot, she possibly looked even skinner than in first year because she hadn't gained much weight for the 6 inches she had grew since then.
The class was just like any other, Delilah holding all of her focus on the professor, even the professor had changed since first year. But then the class ended, yet again she was one of the last ones in the class, as she asked the professor about the incantation of the spell they had just learned about.
As Delilah got to the door frame, she suddenly felt that panic inducing feeling of being stuck hit her...

A Door Even Smaller
The last thing Dmitri didn't expect to happen did indeed occur.
Almost like deja vu, in the same damn doorway.
He must have been daft and haven't been paying attention to where he was going. The Slytherin thought he learned his lesson--but he might, quite possibly, have been complacent. He was so sure nothing like the "Doorway Incident" could ever happen to him again; he has made sure it won't! But apparently fate had different plans for the poor Slytherin boy.
As if it was in slow-motion, Dmitri could see the polished wood of the doorway approach his face and the stark memories of the incident a few years back rushed back into his mind. The way the corner hit his forehead, the way it had this bright red, diagonal mark for days afterward, the way his breath rushed out of him as his chest got smashed into the wooden doorway, and the taste.
The taste of gourmet doorway wood.
It was almost comical how much of a recreation it was of the events of two years ago--the tight press, the suffocation pressure, the smushing of his face. The only thing different was that things were tighter, more smushed, more painful.
"WHAT IN THE FREAKING HELL!" The Slytherin could be heard yelling out in pain and consternation. A few retreating backs paused and turned to give him confused and shocked looks, before scurrying away from his deathly glare.
If he inspected who the culprit to the incident was, he'd burst a blood vessel, but at the moment, he was stuffed into the corner of the doorway, struggling quite hard to be released.

Delilah was certainly taller since that event 2 years ago, but she certainly wasn't tall, at a total of 4'7" the third year was certainly smaller than most of her peers, even a lot of the younger students were taller than her. She had been asked if she had goblin blood on multiple occasions, but alas, as she was a muggleborn, she couldn't be, simply her genetics did not prove to include a particular variation that would cause her to be taller, which did cause her to be underestimated very frequently.@Dmitri Jones
