After reading what she could about dueling Sky had entered into the room in which the dueling club was set. Some students were already picking partners to begin their duels a few Gryffrindors against Hufflepuffs and occasionally Slytherins and Ravenclaws. Sky could feel her stomach churning into knots good golly, she had never felt so nervous, but this would not discourage her. She had made a promise to try new things here and Dueling was certainly one of them. After getting her things set out she went to the professor to see if she still had a chance at getting into the club.
The answer was a yes and Sky felt a little better about being here now she decided it would probably be best to wait for a person to duel. She shifted over into the corner of the room and waited, hoping that the person who dueled she would be more or less alright with her being a beginner.
Sky only knew a few spells, and some she had easily learned about in books but never got to practice.
She thought about the spells softly in her head to help her calm her nerves some more. Alarte Ascendare, Episkey, and Steleus Sky thought that one was too messy so never used it will ever. She did know the occasional other spell that she learned from her father and mother, she learned the unlocking doors one by herself and many more. By the time she was finished she felt lighter and more ready to duel now she just needed to wait for someone to duel with.

"Hey! It's Sky, right?" Adam smiled at the girl from the library, walking over to her from where he had been sitting. He had seen her come into the Dueling Club, looking a little unsure of herself, and jumped at the opportunity to practice. Adam had joined the Dueling Club a week before, but he hadn't had much experience, and he was extremely excited to begin. He didn't know many spells -- he wasn't sure if the girl did, either, but people in the first-year class this time around seemed to be exceptionally advanced. Adam would probably get beaten.

His brother, Dean, was obsessed with dueling. Dean spent his breaks poring over textbooks and practicing on the makeshift practice dummy he had set up in his room, sometimes even dragging Adam into his sessions to practice with/on. It was enjoyable, most of the time, and it definitely helped him prepare for future circumstances. Circumstances just like this one. He pulled his wand out of his robes, an elegant-looking, silver thing, and looked down at the girl. "Up for some practice?" Adam hoped she said yes. This could be the thing that he was looking for at Hogwarts. Other people had Quidditch, but Adam was a duelist. Maybe Sky was too.

Sky had heard a familiar voice that brought her out of her thoughts, smiling as she replied back to Adam. “Hello again, yes its Sky it’s nice to see a familiar face here.” Sky had indeed thought it was nice to see him here, but she did not pin him as a duelist though there has been a million things that have surprised her and are still surprising her at this school.
As he pulled his wand out and asked Sky if she wanted to practice with him, to which Sky quickly replied, “Of course, but a bit of a fair warning I’m not that good at well any of this.” Sky gestured to the other students who was skillfully shooting and shouting out spells like they had been doing it since childhood. Sky did in fact been using her spells since childhood, but never as these students were. She hoped she could learn to do so here it could be beneficial on her journey at the school Sky pulled her wand out also. It was not much compared to Adam’s wand, but nonetheless it was made out of chestnut wood and phoenix feather.
It took about 5 tries to find her wand, but when she did, she knew it was the one and could not wait to use it. She did so one time in the girl’s dormitory casting a small spell which ended up causing a bigger problem, but was still magnificent to see the wand glow. After a bit of encouragement more from her own self though Sky turned and look up at Adam. “So where are we doing this at?” She had hoped he would pick a big enough spot so if anything did go wrong not many people could be in the way.

He laughed. "Don't worry," he answered, "I'm just starting, too. We can help each other out!" Walking backwards and trying to locate an empty spot suitable for their practice, he finally landed on a big enough space and asked, "Does this look good?"

Adam hadn't had any first-hand dueling experience, given that it was still illegal under the Ministry to practice underage magic, but he had watched his father practice with Dean many times. He had grown up watching spells like the Disarming Curse in action, and running through the motions with his brother every year. Now that it was time to put this knowledge to use, Adam wondered if he'd be able to pull it off. He didn't have many other spells under his belt, but then again, who in his class did? This would be a good learning experience for both of them, and maybe Adam would find that he was good at it. Dueling had always fascinated Adam, and if there was any one thing in the wizarding community that he would want to go into, it would definitely be this.

Planting his feet and running through some final maneuvers in his head, he turned back to Sky and smiled reassuringly. "Ready to try this?"

“Yes, that’s perfect, at least I hope.” Sky said following him to the spot. She was pretty sure that this was the kind of practice, she needed to maybe see if dueling would be good for her. Sky had hoped so her father was a duelist while here, even though it was more of a hobby to him than music was he was as he likes to say a master at it.

But that sadly never lead him to actually try it out with Sky he was always busy or worst not wanting Sky to get into too much trouble with it all he was the one in the family that wanted to protect her. Sky’s mother on the other hand was not much into it, she told Sky before she left that whatever Sky got into rather it be Quidditch or dueling or anything else it didn’t matter as long as she is having fun and being the best she could be.

Which is how she felt right now she was going to be the best she could be in dueling and have fun, now it was only up to actually doing it to prove if Sky was meant to be dueling. As Adam turned to her again and asked if she was ready to try this Sky felt the urge to give off a clique response like “I was born ready” and what not but decided that was probably not the best answer to give him. Considering she was not born ready to duel. She did give him a smile and stuck with the other response. “Of course I am.”

Adam smiled. This was what he had been waiting for since the beginning of his time here at the castle. Really, this is what he had been waiting for for years, ever since his brother had brought his own dueling interest home with him over the summers. Squaring off and turning to face Sky from a few meters away, he raised his wand and pointed its tip towards hers. "On your marks...." he began, not sure how to proceed in a situation like this. How did one start a duel? Had he made a fool of himself already? Well, he supposed if he had, there was no reason not to continue. He took a deep breath, reviewed his spellcasting knowledge in his mind, and called, "Begin!"

Setting himself into motion, Adam began to pace a few steps back and forth in front of his opponent. He needed a good opening spell, but as the real competition began, he realized just how little he knew. There was one charm he had seen his mother use a few times before, and while he wasn't sure it would work, he had nothing to lose. At worst, it would cause a distraction. At best, it would cause....well, a bigger distraction, and give Adam some more time to compose himself before the duel began. Drawing himself up and recalling the words in his head, he slashed his wand through the air and shouted the words of the Dancing Feet Charm.

"Tarantallegra!"

A flash of green light burst from the tip of Adam's wand, pleasantly surprising him. Before he could think too much of it, however, it sputtered and died a few feet from Sky. Smiling sheepishly, he replied, "Ah well, it was worth a shot."

He wondered how she'd reply.

Sky followed Adam to the T considering it was her first she would say she did a good job at it. The beginning of a duel was what Sky thought was the most important she ready her wand when he said begin. Sky was not sure what to expect when it came to this, but his pacing kept Sky at the moment soon he yelled out a charm Tarantallegra.

She knew immediately what that charm was the dancing feet charm and Sky tried her hardest to keep from laughing not because before the spell could reach Sky it dissipated, but because she truly wouldn’t be able to keep a straight face if it did hit her. Sky shook herself, she knew this had to be a serious duel, but she still smiled, “That’s right at least you tried I hope the next one works.”

And she did mean that she wanted Adam to succeed, he seemed to really enjoy dueling and that’s sort of what matter at that moment. Finally getting to it together Sky held her wand diligently and thought hard at what to send his way that is if it did work. Sky remembered a spell her father uses often on days he feels he needed it during his work with his concerts the Sky had only hoped it could work.

“Cantis!” the jinx that makes the target sing. As the white light formed and burst out of her wand
and began fly towards Adam. However, it seemed to think that Adam was not the intended target and flew past him hitting another student to which the student begin singing “ I will survive” by Gloria Gaynor. Sky felt her cheeks flush as she covered her mouth to keep from laughing and shouted a quick sorry for the poor victim. “Well, that makes two of us that tried.”

Alexander was sitting at one of the benches on the table, he had wanted to duel but it seemed that there except this pair who were dueling there was no one else and since there were no other persons free to practice dueling with. Which was quite unfortunate since he would have liked to do some practice with dueling.

So rather than do some dueling himself he simply opened a book about household charms and specifically the scourgify charm and began to read. Though he would first observe and analyze the two people dueling and look at their duel sometimes. Looking at what they did well, what their styles were and how if he ever dwelled them would take advantage of there strengths and/or weaknesses.

As such he was too focused on the book until he looked up and saw a white light coming right at his face a second before he hit and he simply said. "oh ****" before he was hit with the spell.

Then to his utter horror and against his own volition his mouth began to open and he began to sing "I will survive." And to make matters worse he did not even like the song.

As such when he eventually finished singing the lyrics and sending a quick glare at the girl who was laughing at him and he coughed a bit to draw some attention. "Uh hum, I would appreciate it if you watched where you aimed your spell better next time so as not to create collateral damage. And I see that you two are dueling, can I also join you if either one of you want to continue when the other is finished ?"

Crystal walked into the room where she heard voices hoping to get directions for where the dueling club is.
Crystal walked into the room and saw two people, the people that she heard talking. Walking up to them she took a deep breath and pulled a strand of hair back behind her ear.
“Hello? Um, hi, I’m Crystal and I overheard that there was a dueling club somewhere, and I want to join, but I can’t seem to find it, do you mind giving me directions?”
Crystal looked at them and hoped they heard her, even if she was a tad bit to quiet.
Crystals hair was almost down to shoulder length, and her hair was in a curly mess, almost.
She was swearing slytherin robes, and Finland heart earrings.
When a flash of green light came by Crystal jumped back.
“Are y’all tryin to kill me?!”
Crystal looked at them and smiled and started laughing .
“Just kidding!”
Crystal then widened her eyes, only the dueling club allowed students to practice spells and you can’t cast spells on other students without getting in trouble. So this must be....
Crystals eyes widened and she gave a awkward laugh.
“Well I am in the right place, and I’m stupid. Well anyways.... could I join in the dueling club?”
Crystal smiled and pulled out her wand.
“I’m always up for a duel.”

Whoa! Adam leaped back as Sky's spell flew by him, white light shining in the dimness of the Dueling Club. He wasn't sure what it would do to him, and he didn't want to find out the hard way. Luckily, it turned out that he didn't have to. The charm went awry and struck a Slytherin boy sitting and reading behind them. Adam tensed up, nervous, hoping it wouldn't anger the other student or do anything too terrible to him. Apparently, though, Sky had a few extra tricks up her sleeve. The boy launched into a ravishing rendition of the hit disco single, "I Will Survive". It was one of Adam's mother's favorite Muggle songs, and he knew it well. It took an inhuman effort not to sing along. Soon enough, when the song was ended, Adam had to applaud. Never before had dueling taken such a groovy turn.

When the Slytherin boy asked if he could join them, Adam was excited to reply. Before he could answer, another girl in green-trimmed robes and earrings posed her own question. Adam didn't know much about the official rules of the club, but he knew he was always in the mood for more practice! "Sure, we'd love to have both of you. It's okay if they join in, right, Sky? Maybe with all four of us working together, we can pull of some of these trickier spells. Then we'll see what happens when the competition really heats up." Adam wondered if he should be getting wary, surrounded by Slytherins. His brother had certainly gone out of his way to speak poorly about them. But Adam didn't trust his brother nearly at all, so he decided to face the situation hospitably. He'd just have to see where it went from here.
