Scott's next words rather made Ana want to swoon for what felt like the millionth time. It wasn't only because of his compliment, it was the way that he was so considerate of both her feelings and Chad's. It really wasn't fair for him to be so good and kind as well as being that bloody handsome. Her cheek pinkened a bit and glanced at the ground. Scott said something else to the drag king. Ana couldn't hear exactly what it was, but it seemed to completely drive Chad off the rails.

Now, Anastasia understood the urge to be a good friend and protect your sweeter, more naive friend's heart. She didn't much like it, but she understood it. What she did not understand one bit was the explosion that came forth from her purple-clad companion. As far as Ana could remember, her few previous interactions with the Hufflepuff had been fairly pleasant. She didn't remember ever doing anything that would make Chad have a grudge against her(which was extremely rare for Ana). Other than being interested in Scott, she didn't think she had done anything to warrant this treatment, and she wasn't going to stand for it.

Except, there wasn't really a win in this situation. Scott was put in a terrible position, and Anastasia knew it was definitely not the best idea to cause issues between him and his best friend if she hoped for them to grow closer. She considered not saying anything, but as Chad continued, that ceased to be an option. Her jaw tightened and her vision turned red. What the hell was this? Had this ass been anyone other than Scott's best friend, Ana would have already cast a Slug vomiting curse and quite possibly stabbed said ass. However, that wasn't an option. She really had no options at the moment that didn't end badly for everyone. She was not about to put up with this treatment though, which meant she had to do something.

Once the rant appeared to have ended, Ana inhaled sharply before speaking. When she did speak, her voice was cold and she was glaring daggers. She was exercising unprecedented control over her emotions, but she would need to get out of this before she exploded. "Are you quite done?" she said quietly. "I don't know what your bloody problem is and you certainly can't speak to me this way."

She gathered her skirts and gave Scott a small smile. "I hope that the two of you have a lovely evening," she said before rather dramatically turning and walking away. Her skirt spun out spectacularly, which contributed to her exit. She was glad she had turned because her eyes were watering now. She honestly couldn't tell if this was from anger or disappointment. Even when Ami had messed up Ana's plan of confessing her feelings to Scott at the ball, Anastasia had still looked forward to spending time with the blond. What kind of person not only crashed an attempt at acknowledging a crush, and then took it upon themselves to do it on their own?

As she walked across the Pitch, it occurred to her that she didn't have a plan of where to go. She finally decided on the snack table, in hopes of coffee. She clearly deserved coffee after this. She scanned the room. She saw Rafa with the Hufflepuff, Lydia. Ana thought that the girl was fairly sweet. However, she was far too pretty, and Ana wondered if she might even be part Veela. She didn't want to ruin Rafa's time at the ball the way hers had been, so she continued walking to the food.

As she reached the oasis that was the table full of food, she noticed Ruby as well. However, Ruby also seemed to be having a lovely time, and she didn't want her foul mood to mess that up. She inhaled as she selected a cupcake and shoved the entire thing into her mouth. It was quite unladylike, but who cared? The sugary goodness made everything seem a bit better, and Anastasia continued attempting to calm herself down. It was a foreign experience, since, normally, she would just let her rage explode and deal with the consequences later. She was not about to let some nasty petty bitch (was it alright to call Chad a bitch? She decided that it was since she considered bitch to be a gender-neutral insult) completely take over her first big party back at Hogwarts after so long.

Glancing around her again, she caught sight of Dale at a near table, and couldn't help but smile. That suit was so absurd that somehow, she felt a bit better about her own problems. Not that it exactly looked bad on him, but he did look quite silly. Grabbing another cupcake and a cup of some drink she didn't recognize, she made her way over to his table. She wondered what kind of event didn't have coffee. That was really the worst part of her night thus far. "What are you doing all by yourself in a suit like that?" she said, her tone light. Teasing Dale made her feel a bit better, and anyway, she didn't think he minded too much. The suit really was something different.

The sound of music and people talking and having fun filled Rivers ears as she sat by the table next to Katrina. You really had to adjust the volume of your voice to be heard properly, especially if you were to stand in the middle of the crowd on the dancefloor. Students were continually leaving and Entering the main area, and the curious ravenclaw couldn’t help but wonder what was going on in the more hidden areas of the dance. Probably nothing River wanted to poke her nose into anyway.

Katrina expressed that her worried state was because of the fact that something bad could happen. She wasn’t wrong. Actually, odds were there would probably be something going down this year too. Most likely not a fire though, they seemed to have taken precautions for that. The students had actually taken better care of fire hazards than the professors did the previous times. The snacks were always suspicious though, and River was lucky enough to had managed to stay away from the shitty stuff that happened last blossom ball. She had decided that eating before going there was smart this time, so she felt no need to go over to the food and drink. «Well I guess it’s smart to at least keep an eye out», she said and looked back out over the many people on the pitch. «But it would probably be good to try and have fun while it’s all going well», she tried giving a smile to Katrina. «You know there’s always that chance that this might actually work out well», this time there was no sound of a joke, River sounded convinced that there was actually hope for this years ball. Perhaps it wasn’t entirely genuine, but she hoped it would give Katrine some comfort. «I mean I don’t blame you if you just want to sit and watch over though, considering previous events it makes sense if that is what you feel is best», she added and looked at the girl.

River followed the sight of the girl up toward the dark sky, when she saw someone flying up there. River didn’t see who it was, but Katrina seemed to have some familiarity with the person. Perhaps the only bad thing that would happen tonight is a fall from a broom and some broken bones.
"So, what have you been up to?", the gryffindor asked. River’s thoughts had gotten lost for a second in the magical sight of the candles floating about up in the air. She snapped back again and thought for a moment. There hadn’t actually been a lot going on lately, other than school and the clubs she’s been a part of. Every once in a while she’d go for a walk or go to dance in the rehearsal room, but nothing interesting she’d want to go into detail about. «Oh, you know, studying mostly», she said, «Oh, and of course the S.W.A.G games, those are always a lot of fun», she said and nodded toward Katrina. «What about you?», she asked. «Been up to anything exciting lately?».

Aida’s eyes sparkled a bit in the candlelight. “Mòrsgor-Ama, very close. That was my mother’s surname, while my father’s was Ellwood. Gaelic names, both of them. It’s a pity about the potions. There are so many that could be very useful. That rope could be life-saving though. I’ve got this pocket knife in case we ever need to cut it.” Aida pulled out a small folding knife with an ivory handle that had a scrimshaw rose carved into it. Anyone very observant could see hints of Damascus-steel-like patterns on the tucked-in blade.

Aida put the pretty but otherwise normal pocket knife back into her coat pocket, remembering the time she lost a knife that was in her pants pocket while she was scraping around the inside of some cave. Aida giggled mysteriously as she wondered if she would ever get a chance to show Alexander that secret hideout back in the Highlands.

Watching Alexander move around, putting his hands behind his back as if he were a professional tactician, Aida was intrigued. I wonder what he will turn into over the course of the years, she thought again. Then when Alexander moved in close to her ear a shiver ran up her spine and her cheeks turned as red as a geranium’s petals. Aida could feel her arm hairs standing on end. Then, Alexander whispered about a drunken French Dwarf and a grin rapidly escalated into all-out roaring laughter as she clutched her stomach and doubled over into a crouch. Absolutely consumed in peals of laughter, she hoped that she wasn’t being rude. Aida managed to contain herself for the most part, but her grin just wouldn’t go away. Standing up as straight as she could, she crossed her arms and imitated a military officer with a very serious voice: “You’re right that the different places all have their merits and weaknesses.” She let out a small laugh, unable to control it. “But even without being in potions, plants can have very important uses. We should investigate the boutonnieres,” she continued, pointing to the bundle of foxglove, Scottish heather, and lavender that she had pinned to her lapel.

She began walking over towards the broom and boutonniere area, anticipating that Alexander would follow.

Logan had honestly thought about leaving the ball, she really had. Almost anyone could tell that the Hufflepuff was miserable.

What she hadn't expected was for one of her only friends to show up in the chair beside her with her even noticing. She honestly hadn't even expected her Gryffindor friend to even show up to the show up to the ball in the first place, so whenever he showed up beside her, she was rather surprised.

The Hufflepuff squealed and spun around at the sound of the voice near her. Her hand clutched to her chest, Logan nearly knocked her chair over, luckily able to right herself before it happened. "Elsian," she squeaked as her beating heart calmed down at the familiar face. Once she fully realized who it was though she scowled and crossed her arms. She noticed his Slytherin color choice, confused, before she decided that she wasn't even going to question it.

"Don't do that to me. I could have fallen or hurt you." she grumbled letting out an exasperated sigh at his joke. A soft smile began to grace her face soon after though. "You are something else and if you are trying to cheer me up..." Logan paused for a second to think if it had cheered her up as she giggled a bit, "it is working," she finished off, the smile still present on her face. She hadn't expected the awful joke from the boy, but it did make her feel a little better about staying at the ball.

She gently pushed her hair behind her ear before tugging on her hands softly. "I convinced myself that I would be able to talk to more people if I came here. I thought I would be able to do it and as you can see, that didn't happen." Logan huffed as she looked down at the table, continuing to tug on her hands nervously. "And it is kind of hard to dance without a partner, or at least friends."

The young Hufflepuff had honestly tried to convince herself to try and make more friends, it just hadn't happened. "I really do like to dance. I just can't talk to people." It wasn't like she had put that much work into getting ready anyways. All she had done was put on a dress and shoes.

"What are you doing here?" Logan questioned as she looked over at the boy. "I am assuming you are waiting for someone if you are over here talking to me." She didn't think much about the fact of maybe he just came to enjoy it, she didn't really see him as the person to come to a ball unless being forced to for 'Pureblood presentation' as her father would call it.

She looked at the girl whom had popped up beside her and Opeila. The girl started to chat with Opeila then turned to her.

"And hello ...?" The girl said after dipping her head as an introduction.

"Hello! Nice to meet you, I'm Kara!" Kara replied, blinking and slightly bowing her head in greeting.

"You're gonna do it, I am sure of it. Sorry, I've gotta go, my date... seems to have gotten lost." Opeila said, smiling as she left.

She returned Opeila's small smile with a slight grin as she spoke her words.

She waved goodbye, and said thank you as she left.

"My apologies, but I have to go also." The other girl said.

"Oh, goodbye, nice meeting you!" Kara said.

The girl flashed a sympathetic smile and then turned to start walking away. As Kara stood there, she stared off into the sky. It was beautiful.

The sun was setting across a scarlet and purple sky, with a few star clusters popping up here and there. The moon was starting to show, and the clouds from earlier today had started to drift away. A cool breeze swept through her and she took a deep breath. The night had always seemed to calm her.

The sounds of people chattering and dancing around her started to fade away as she reminisced in the faded colors of the sky. Her whole world and worries seemed to melt. She snapped herself back into reality and then looked around.

She saw Hanako and another girl talking. She finally found him! She started to walk over to him, but she quickened her pace into a run until she accidentally found herself now face planting in front Hanako and the other girl he was with.

"Ouch..." Kara groaned.

She pushed herself up and met eyes with Hanako.

"Nice seeing you here, Hanako." She stuttered, trying not to blush so much from embarassment.

She smiled shyly and giggled slightly.

"Guess I'm still as clumsy as ever, heels wasn't the best idea."

She turned over to the girl and then waved at her.

"I'm Kara, nice to meet you! I am one of Hanako's childhood friends."

Under other circumstances, embarrassment would have dominated Calanthe’s emotions. But right now she could only feel a growing rage and a need to escape. To Shadowfell with the stands, I just need to get out of here.

Letting the remaining food fall from her grasp, Calanthe dusted herself off and tried picking herself up. A sharp pain registered in her lower back before she could get a foot off the around and she came tumbling back down on the same spot that was hurt. The witch bit back a screech that would have been loud enough to draw more than a few stares her way. The last thing she wanted was further attention drawn onto herself.

Calanthe sat on the ground for a few moments more, waiting for the pain to ebb away. She noticed some stains on her clothing from the cupcake frosting and cursed Pelor for the terrible night she was having. The pain eased up to the point where she could writhe on the pitch, crawl even, but she was too afraid to get up just yet. She was definitely not good with pain of any kind.

“Need some help there?” the voice was jolly and Calanthe looked up to see a hand extended in her direction. Great. The rage bubbled further within her chest and she looked up at her savior with eyes full of fire. Slapping his hand away with all her might, – which was not plenty, to be fair – she tried to get up again. The pain returned in full force but she pushed herself up unrelentingly.

“No thanks. I’m good,” it was not a hiss this time, but Calanthe intentionally lowered her voice. She began to walk away from the scene but the anxious feeling returned to her stomach. Turning back to note the fallen food marring the sight of the pitch, she debated with herself for a moment.

Just go pick it up. You clearly want to.

No way. Leave it there. Someone else will do it.

She probably stood there for longer than a minute, any further words from the boy trying to help her drowned out. Her decision came with heavy sigh and a stomp of her sneaker-clad foot on the ground as she returned to the food on the pitch and began gathering the things up. As she passed the boy though, she threw a sneer his way.

“Go away.”

@Alexx Séverin | @Rosie Parker | @Reid Kovacs | @Cecily Quinn
Adam was relieved to find that Alexx was so nice. He'd been a little bit intimidated by her, in truth. She'd held so many prestigious roles at the school in such a short time that anyone would surely feel dwarfed by her presence, even if that person happened to be a taller-than-average fourteen-year-old. When she spoke, it reminded Adam of Max Avery, the pure-blooded Gryffindor who he'd only just started to make amends with. Alexx had that same formal way of talking that made Adam want to check his posture. Luckily, her smile was kind, and her words were kinder. It was a nice and relaxed conversation in the middle of an increasingly busy place. Too bad that the peace didn't last.

He couldn't hear his Hufflepuff friend call out over the noises of the crowd, but he certainly noticed her when she came barreling in to give him a hug. Adam turned to see the girl at the last second, and tried to call out her name in delight. He got halfway through it before it turned into a breathless "oof!" as she crashed into him, sending him rocking backwards dangerously on his heels. The declined cupcake flew out of his hand and landed sadly on the ground, but that was the least of Adam's worries as he struggled to regain his balance. If he fell over now, his dress robes were definitely going to get dirty, and chances were he'd take Rosie down with him. It would be a huge embarrassment in the first ten minutes of the ball. Fortunately, Adam was able to right himself as the cheery girl pulled away, and he gave her a relieved grin as she started to talk.

The other half of the dynamic duo walked up behind Rosie, greeting Adam and Alexx in a much more composed tone. Reid Kovacs and Rosie Parker. It made Adam happy to see them together, presumably watching each other's backs, and it made him especially happy to see them here at the party. He returned Reid's compliment gratefully, nodding to the new addition to his look. "Right back at you, Reid! I like the glasses. They make you look very respectable." When, after a moment, Alexx struck up a conversation with the Hufflepuff boy, Adam turned his attention to his back to Rosie. "I can't believe it's been so long! That's crazy! I miss hanging out with you, it's not the same being late to class without you as an excuse." The blond boy laughed, remembering all of the times that they'd almost missed a lesson getting distracted by something out on the grounds. Rosie was such a great friend -- she could make anything fun. Adam was relieved to hear that she had missed him as much as he'd missed her.

Speaking of missing people, the Ravenclaw boy was so wrapped up in his conversation that he didn't notice Cecily approach until she said his name. He turned to face her and smiled a hello, realizing that some of her stealth was attributed to her bare feet. It made him laugh to see Cecily without shoes on, because it was the last thing that he would've expected from the reluctant girl, but it was a hopeful sign that she was ready to have a good time. "Cecily! Hey, you found me! Sorry, I was going to meet back up with you, but..." Looking over at the other members of their growing group, he cleared his throat and gestured to her. "Do you guys know Cecily? This is Alexx and Rosie and Reid. We've all probably had classes or seen each other around, but, uh...yeah." Adam was suddenly realizing how unfit he was for the role of host, and he blushed red when Alexx piped up with a sly comment. He was sure she didn't mean it too harshly, but it made him acutely aware of the situation that he'd pretty much forced on the Slytherin girl.

"Right, uh, sorry." He laughed nervously and gave her an apologetic smile, hoping that she knew he meant it. He hadn't meant to ambush her like this, and he didn't want to stop her from enjoying the evening. Adam struggled to get back to a more comfortable place, trying to think of another conversation topic until he saw a girl snapping pictures towards the entrance of the pitch. "Hey, Alexx, it's too bad you can't write about any of this in the paper! It would make such a great story, but I doubt that by 'secret' they meant 'front page headline'. I guess it's more fun this way though, right?"

The sound of lively music caught his ear, and Adam wondered if anyone would be willing to get out there and dance with him. He liked being able to talk and catch up, but it was a party, and he wanted to enjoy as many of the festivities as possible. It was a good thing he had all night! As the conversation continued, he said another silent prayer that the hardest part of the evening would be heading back up to the castle when the ball was over. They deserved something nice.

It was a delicate balance for Ethen as he carried a heavy bag filled with all manner of fireworks while trying not to make his hair disheveled. He and Atlas had stay working endlessly to build a wide array for fireworks that would make sure to add a bit of flair to the ball. It had been exciting and difficult to make them all but he felt proud of what Atlas and he had build. He hoped that all of the other students would also enjoy the diverse array of explosives they put together.

"Careful with these Rice Monkey," Ethen said as he handed the large sack over to Atlas to take behind the scenes. Brushing off his shoulder where he had been lugging the large bag. He made sure that he kept a few of their homemade fireworks just in case. There was no telling what he might need them for. After delivering the important cargo, Ethen knew that he and Atlas needed to actually get ready for the ball. Saying a quick goodbye, Ethen then scuttled towards the changing rooms to change.

After unleashing pandemonium in the changing rooms, Ethen was quick to rush out back into the pitch now wearing a dark blue suit and white undershirt. There was a slight bit of ash on his shoulder that he made sure to brush off as he tried to blend into the well dressed crown. He felt awkward and stiff in the nice clothing but didn't feel as out of place with all of the beautiful dresses and nicely dressed students. He kept fidgeting with the light jacket he was wearing as he meandered through the gathered students uncomfortably looking for Atlas.

It took several minutes of aimless wandering before he spotted the familiar blonde head inspecting a row of decorations with extreme focus. Ethen's eyes widened as he looked at the girl in a nice white dress. He had never seen her in a dress or really dress up for anything so it proved a curious sight. He found himself blushing the longer he looked at her and suddenly felt nervous going to say hi but he shuffled his feet over to the girl still wide-eyed. "You look...different," he stammered as he got close. He realized it sounded like an insult and awkwardly tried to correct. "I mean like a girl or some thing...I mean your dress... You look pretty," he managed to say finally feeling more uncomfortable and embarrassed with each moment as he tugged at the collar of his shirt. His eyes wandered around the decorations trying to avoid any eye contact.

Dale watched people enter the ball one by one, each one getting their photo getting snapped by San. He wondered how many more photos she would take... he wondered why she was taking photos, it's not like Hogwarts had a yearbook, and even if they did, this was a secret ball. He would need to ask her later when she seemed less busy.

Dale heard a familiar voice, the voice of Annie yelling at him to get his lonely butt over to them ... he looked over to where she stood, she seemingly already had some company, Her and Saskia seemed to be getting along pretty well... he assumed it was a joke, he didn't want to disturb them... he smiled at the two of them and waved besides, he was enjoying his time alone.

Dale heard yet more yelling, this time not directed at him, but at some blond guy... he usually wouldn't have cared.. but Ana was with them too, he wondered what exactly was going on between the three of them... but before Dale could think too hard, Ana looked fed up with it, she dramatically left the two of them, Dale smiled, her fluffy dress really made the scene look like something outta a movie or a book.

He watched go over to the snack table and.. shove an entire cupcake into her mouth... it was sorta impressive. She grabbed another cupcake and a bottle of yoohoo. She made her way over to him and took a seat,

"What are you doing all by yourself in a suit like that?

Dale was happy to see Ana, her light tone and familar voice made him feel at ease. "Eh, I had no one to go with... honestly I just came to kill some time, this is the only thing I could find that fit me." He put his hand on his heart "But what business does her majesty have with this simple plebian." He said with sarcasm clear in his voice.

The note said to arrive with a broom and that was exactly what Lavinia did, her and her trusted Comet 180 were ready to party. She thought why bother with changing if she was going to come late. Lavinia was wearing a beautiful rose gold dress and her hair was done up for the occasion. She had heard that last year there were some accidents, but that didn’t make her want to miss out on a secret ball. Lavinia’s plan was to just go solo and stay for as long as necessary without getting in harms way, she wanted to have a good time but not die in the process.

As she walked into the quidditch stadium the smell of perfume and snacks filled her nose. It had been quite a while since she played a quidditch game after being kicked off the team for caring to much about her studies, they call it Ravenclaw for a reason right? That didn’t stop Lavinia from taking a practice every once in a while. The blossom ball had turned the quidditch stadium inside out and the coordinators did a great job decorating. As Lavinia walked in she found herself lost for words so she headed for the snack table still unsure of what to do with her broom in her hand.
