Tug o' War

@Rafael D'Spacito | @Alan Vanes | @Maria Dee |
Anastasia watched as Rafael approached and rather wanted to laugh. The Quidditch captain interacting with Alan reminded her very much of her interacting with a certain blonde Gryffindor prefect. She quirked her head to the side and arched an eyebrow as she thought for a moment. Was Rafa afraid of Alan? She couldn't imagine why that would be the case, since though kind, Alan was quite soft-spoken and meek. Possibly Rafa had pulled some kind of prank on Alan and was hoping that he didn't discover it? Rafa wasn't exactly the pranking type from what she could tell though. From what she knew of the boy, he was more the type to fight something out. Which left one conclusion and Ana's mouth formed a small O as she came to said conclusion. Rafa had a crush on Alan! She could certainly understand why - Alan had been kind to Rafa at the last SWAG game, and overall seemed like a sweetheart. He wasn't exactly Ana's type, but clearly, he was Rafa's.
A second or two after she noticed Rafa's obvious crush, she resolved to be the best wingman ever. Alan was quite alright, and Rafa could certainly do worse. She would just have to think of some way to force them together. First, though, she would have to win this inane game. As the group was divided into teams, she continued to watch the two Gryffindor boys interacting. Good Lord, she had her work cut out for her.
As Rafa seemed to decide that he was in charge of the team, Ana continued to try to come up with a plot to get the boys to bond. Normally, she would want to be the one in charge of something like this, but a) she thought this was stupid, and b) she had more important things to focus on. She was so focused, it took her a moment to pop back to the present when Rafa said her name. "Oh, I'm everywhere, love, haven't you noticed?" she said, smirking as she took her place between Rafael and the other girl. He had called her "Mulan", which Anastasia didn't think was her name, but seeing as she knew neither the girl's name, nor what on earth a Mulan was, she didn't say anything. However, when Rafa said "boys", she glanced over her shoulder to glare at him. He could have just as easily said girls since there were two boys and two girls on their team. Rolling her eyes, she added "And more importantly, girls," before pulling as hard as she could on the rope.
Which wasn't actually that hard, but she wasn't here to pull on a rope. She was here because she was bored, and was now trying to think of some kind of way to get Rafa and Alan to figure out their lives. It was a shame that Rafa was in the back since otherwise, Ana could simply release the rope and Rafa would be yeeted onto Alan. Alright, so there were other people on both teams, but when had something like logic ever stopped Ana?

More and more people showed up for this game and River told Cassie the name of the game is Tug o' War. Cassie knitted her eyebrows but nodded their head. I am just going to follow what other did, Cassie told themself.
The older Gryffindor boy explain what the game is and the rules according to the game. Alan, the game master of this event, divide the team into two even though the other team is short on people Cassie determined to make their team win. When Alan throw the rope to the opposing team, Cassie assume was the leader of the team, all of the people starting to take their position.
Alan was the first person on their team holding the rope and when Cassie saw the composition of their team, they are the only serpent on the team. Follow suit behind Alan is their team mate. Cassie being brave because they know their strength, decided to grab the end of the rope that being said they are the anchor of their team.
When Alan yelled "Go!"Cassie corrected their stance and grab the rope harder, tighter like their life depend on it and dug their feet deeper on the ground to make their stance firmer. "Vamonos (let's go) Team Blue! We can do this"Cassie yelled out as they gritted their teeth, unaware the slipped out of the other language that sometimes Cassie used and ready to make their team win.

Rafa answered her questions with a simple, schools been good. He then asked if she had her dress for the ball. She did but in case he was conversing with Victor she wasn’t going to tell him all the details.
“Good , good. Yes, I have picked my dress out for the ball.”
In that moment Alan told them the teams and much to Wren’s hope, her and Rafa were on opposite teams. Rafa attempted to smack talk her and said “Eat Dirt Caster”. Ok, if he wanted to play that game, then she would play that game.
“You’re going down D’Spacito!” she smirked believing what she was saying.
Alan was on their team, and to her, he was their captain. Just because he had put this together, and he was a leader.
Right before they were about to start she yelled:
"Give it your all everyone!"
They then were given the go and she grabbed onto the to the rope and started to pull. One of her teammates shouted something in Spanish? Wren thought. Apparently, my teammate knows Spanish. Cassie, I think her name is”
She wanted to encourage her team, so she shouted:
“We got this! We can win!”

It was a good sign that Adam had been put on Blue Team. That color had worked out for him before -- it was the color of his Hogwarts house, of the dress robes he wore to most of the school balls, and it just happened to be his favorite one. As the rest of his teammates lined up on their side of the rope, he smiled at them and hopped into place in front of the Slytherin girl. He hadn't gotten to hear her name, but he was glad that she had taken the anchor position, because he really wasn't sure how his strength matched up. Ideally, they would've had some time to plan out a few strategies and figure out who belonged where on the rope, but the Red Team was clearly ready to go. They must've known each other pretty well, because their team captain was barking orders and getting them pumped up. Honestly, Adam was happy with Blue Team's more relaxed vibe. It was just for fun, after all, no matter how nice it would be to win.
He reminded himself to focus as all of both teams stared each other down, and when Alan called the start of the game, Adam yanked the rope as hard as he could. His feet dug into the ground and he grit his teeth, straining to tug the rope towards their side. His teammates cheered each other on and it made him smile. The Slytherin girl shouted something in Spanish, the other two girls pitched in their own words of encouragement, and Alan's cheer especially gave Adam a boost of energy. He was happy to add his own voice to the group, in hopes that it would give them that winning edge. "Let's go team! Yeah! We've got this, guys!" (Calming Presence)
Adam knew he was probably the odd one out in this game. Everyone else seemed to know each other well, as evidenced by the Gryffindor girl on his team shouting a battle cry at the Red Team captain. At first, he'd wondered if he'd accidentally crashed a club gathering, but Alan didn't seem to mind that he was here, and now they were already mid-game. He'd just give it his all until someone won; there would surely be time for talking later. He could feel the rope burning as it dug into his palms, but he wasn't going to let go until he hit the ground. Blue Team for the win!

Rafael would only receive an eye roll from the pureblood aristocrat at his childish action and statement. Aurelia would turn, finding a seat on a good patch of grass a few feet away. This game was of no interested to the fourteen-year-old. No, she would not be playing but rather spectate. After all, she really did have much to do. There was clearly no harm in parking her but a little longer.
The grouping was not fair, the teams were not evenly split. Rafael and Ana's team was short of one player. Then it hit her. Alan had told her specifically that teams were full ( which they clearly weren't), it was not that aurelia had any intentions of playing, but judging by the situation contradicting his statement, Aurelia concluded that her own club member, Alan Vanes, did not want the third year to play in his game. That was certainly good to know.
Aurelia watched the rest unfold. Add one or two part-giants into the mix would make things more entertaining. It was not anything very exciting. The Asian girl ( @Maria Dee ) seemed to be the only one putting in effort. @Rafael D'Spacito on the other hand was taking it easy, for what reason, Aurelia could not fathom. Perhaps it was all part of some sort of strategy to conserving energy? Then again, that Gryffindor was not that bright. The Red Head Boy and the abhorred @Anastasia Beckett whom she graciously tolerates, were putting in some effort into their pulls.
Despite being at a disadvantage of 1 short, the red managed to reel the Blue team in their direction. The dhampir, @River Dewlight, the monster hunter had read that dhampirs were usually stronger than that of an average human, but she was not too sure. Perhaps gender played a part in determining the theory, but Aurelia could not be sure. Nevertheless, she seemed to be putting in more effort than the other team members. On the other hand, the three others, @Alan Vanes, @Wren Caster, @Adam Harringtom, were doing quite poorly than the Ravenclaw. A brunette first year stanidng behind River, was also trying her hardest, yet all in all, they were no match for the Red team.

Quite annoyed at the moment, having noticed as soon as they started that one of his teammates had already given up and left them to a disadvantage, Zyk would continue on to prove that the little snake wouldn't have made any difference to their team regardless. More effort would be exerted as he looked down to his hands to notice that they were starting to turn red from the strings burn against his hand, instead of relenting his pressure though, he'd buckle down and wrap his forehand into the rope and pull harder.
Golden hues shifted up to stare at the one opposite as him and he gave a slight smirk as he pulled against their weight, noting that they were gaining ground at the moment. Even with just the 4 of them against the other teams 5, he wasn't too surprised to see that they had advanced the rope, but also thought that there was one member of his team that was slacking, "Oy! Quidditch boyo, you actually pulling?" he shouted back to his "team captain", the one who had referred to him as some wanker, "didn't think quidditch players were that soft." he quipped.
Hoping that the jab would help influence the "leader" of their team, he continued to dig his feet into the ground and leaned back on the rope, even more, to try and help his teams effort in achieving the victory that he wanted to produce. A quick look over his shoulder and he noted that the Hufflepuff girl was easily pulling her weight and exerting a lot of strength, "Alright' love, don't burn out on us." he muttered before looking back to the opposing team.

Ana laughed at the boy in front of her taunting Rafael. The girl ahead of her was probably doing the most work, and Ana knew that Rafael could absolutely do more than that. "He's got you there, Rafa, she teased. "Use those lovely big muscles of yours, that's why I keep you around." She glanced over her shoulder and winked at him as she said the second bit. She noticed a certain older Gryffindor girl and considered attempting to turn so that the entire group would be flung at her. Was the possible? If it was, Ana wanted to do that.
Now, back to her plan of yeeting Rafa on to Alan. There were still people in front of her, who were clearly actually interested in winning with this inane game. That was most unfortunate. The boy was the same height as Ana, and the other girl was a tad shorter, so Ana could, in theory, physically overpower either one of them. Not both at the same time though. Or, maybe she could tackle one and the other would fall over, like Muggle dominos. She wasn't sure how the physics of that would work though. If everyone in front of him went down, then there was a possibility that Rafa would just faceplant into the pile of people in front of him. Right about now, having any understanding of Muggle physics would be incredibly helpful. She decided against it for the moment and gave the rope another tug.

Wren had to admit. She was dismayed that the blue team had the satisfaction of winning. Rafael was on that team and hem specifically, she was against. In reality, she loved Rafa, and Ana for that matter, but they just had to beat. She needed the satisfaction they got. She decided she would pull twice as hard if it meant beating them.╔══════════════✣══♡══✣═══════════════╗

“Rafa, you will be in the mud this next round.” She yelled at him. “You too, Lovely Ana.”
She had to address Ana, or she would have felt worse than she already did. She had non-intentionally ignored her when taking her place on the rope.
“Sorry Ana, but I have to. We’re on opposing teams sugar, this is the way it’s gotta be”
When the ok was given Wren pulled as hard as her eleven-year-old body could manage. She shouted encouragement to her teammates.
“We’re at an advantage! We got this. We can beat those- those” She struggled for a word to call them. “Those people.” She said for lack of a better word. She hoped her encouragement was good but she figured since she had called them ‘Those people’ then it wasn’t. Laughing she continued to pull on the rope as hard as she could.

Adam grimaced as he felt the rope slide right through his hands, tugging him towards the other team as he tried in vain to pull it in the other direction. The Blue Team stumbled forwards a few steps and he grit his teeth in determination, digging his feet into the ground as hard as he could. Adam must have been distracted by that out-of-place feeling that had sneaked up on him right before the start of the game. He'd been a little bit nervous about fitting in with the seemingly tight-knit crowd, hadn't he? That probably made him sweat a little bit, and that was why it was so hard to grip the rope. Either that, or the universe just didn't want him to win. Well, he wasn't going to be pushed around by something as stupid as the powers that be.
He heard Red Team teasing each other a little bit and felt especially grateful that his teammates continued to cheer each other on. The Gryffindor girl shouted out some more words of encouragement and Adam added a "Yeah!" between breaths as he tugged. He'd definitely gotten a late start, but he was determined to pick up his slack and give his team a fighting chance from this point on. It was still anybody's game.
