Midnight Studying
It was the middle of the night and Janet Jackson was in the library, she never thought she would sneak out at night to study ever in her life but she had got to the point where she simply had to do something about the huge pile of work. Janet plopped her books down at an empty table in the library and sat herself down on a comfy chair near them. She knew that if she wanted to spend her free time not in detention she would have some serious catching up to do. She had neglected all her homework and now she had to do it all at the last minute, usually this was her normal strategy and being actually quite a clever girl it could normally be pulled off, but she wasn’t sure she would be able to complete all of it this time. There was just too much. She groaned as she slid a transfiguration book off the top of the immense pile of homework. Really she should be starting with her charms homework which was due the next day, but Janet wasn’t very good at charms and found transfiguration much easier. But she was extremely tired and soon she felt herself slipping away and before she knew it Janet was snoring gently, her head leaned against the pile of books.
She didn’t know how long she had been asleep when she awoke to her shoulder being gently shook.

Midnight Studying
Fred couldn’t sleep and he knew he wasn’t going to be able to any time soon. After much tossing and turning he decided to get up and go for a walk. He tiptoed gently across the thick crimson carpet and began to walk normally as soon as he was out of earshot of his sleeping room mates. Maybe he would go to the library? He knew (however hard he tried to hide it from himself) that he really did need to catch up on a bit of his homework so he made the next turn in pursuit of the library. As soon as he reached it he slowly turned the creaky handle so as to not make any noise. He slowly crept across the floor until a surprising noise caught his ears. Surely it couldn’t be? Someone snoring? What would they be doing at this time of night in the library? Fred followed the sound and soon caught sight of a girl (about his age) leaning her head against a pile of books. He couldn’t help but notice how beautiful she looked sleeping there peacefully, her light brown (nearly blonde) hair fell across her face and the early morning sunlight streamed in through the windows and reflected off her hair making it look golden. If you looked closely you could see a few freckles dotted against her smooth skin. Fred didn’t like to wake her up but he was afraid that someone would catch her there and that she would be in trouble, so he gently shook her shoulder until she sat up.

Janet sat up slowly yawning as she did so. She looked around, her eyes half closed, looking for the person who woke her. Her eyes fell on a slightly tanned, good looking boy with freckles and dark brown silky hair. She wondered what he was doing in the library at this time of night; maybe he couldn’t sleep or had homework to catch up on like her? Although she was tired she was grateful that he had woken her, she didn’t want to be caught and she needed to finish her charms essay in time for tomorrow. She didn’t really didn’t like it when people left her asleep because they didn’t want to disturb her. She rubbed her eyes.
“Hello! My name is Janet, what’s yours? Thanks for waking me up by the way I wouldn’t want to be caught out of bed at this time of night.”
She glanced over at the pile of books still waiting to be opened and let out a small sigh, she knew she wouldn’t be able to finish all this by morning, there was just no way. She shouldn’t have fallen asleep, that had wasted her precious (and limited) time.
“Hello! My name is Janet, what’s yours? Thanks for waking me up by the way I wouldn’t want to be caught out of bed at this time of night.”
She glanced over at the pile of books still waiting to be opened and let out a small sigh, she knew she wouldn’t be able to finish all this by morning, there was just no way. She shouldn’t have fallen asleep, that had wasted her precious (and limited) time.

The girl opened her eyes revealing their stunning sparkling hazel colour she shook her long hair out of her face and stretched. She yawned and introduced herself.
“Hello! My name is Janet, what’s yours? Thanks for waking me up by the way I wouldn’t want to be caught out of bed at this time of night.”
Fred could easily understand that. He knew what it felt like to be caught out of bed, he didn’t understand why grown ups made such a fuss about it but there was no denying that they did.
“Oh er hi my name is Fred. And no problem,” he felt that all this needed some kind of explanation, “I was just going on a little walk, I can’t sleep. What about you? What are you doing down here?”
Fred glanced at the large pile of books next to her and guessed she was doing homework, she certainly had a lot of it! He himself had quite a bit of work to finish. He stood there a little awkwardly picking at his nails. He was always a little awkward at first but once you got to know him a bit it was fine and his personality opened up wonderfully. “Looks like you’ve got quite a bit of work, so have I, I’m fine with the charms work it’s the transfiguration I don’t understand.”

He looked a little awkward but being honest Janet quite liked that about him, she was also a bit shy at first.
“I can’t really sleep either and as you can see I have some homework to finish off”

“Well that’s perfect! I’m quite good a transfiguration but I don’t really understand charms, maybe we could help each other?”
Fred blushed slightly, trying not to show how pleased he was with this offer.
“That would be great! I think I left my books in here last time I’ll just go run and get them they are over on that table.”
He ran quickly over to the table and grabbed his rucksack. Once he had returned he dumped the books on the table.
“So, what do you not understand about the charms essay?”
She pointed out a few things to him and he helped her as best he could and she did the same with the stuff he didn’t understand, they mostly ended up copying a lot of each other’s work but at least they got the job done. They spent quite a bit of time there helping each other and it turned out they had quite a lot in common, for one thing they both enjoyed swimming and playing pranks. The time passed quickly and before they knew it they had already completed most of the homework and needed to get back up to the dorms before a prefect came and found them. They rushed up to the common room and parted at the doors to each of there dorms.
“It was nice meeting you Fred.” Janet said holding out her hand.
“You too.” He said shaking it.
