Alina looked around the room and focused on some of the smaller details, the plants in the corner, the fancy tie of the curtains. It was a quaint area but also comfortable even though her nerves were a bit up from telling him anything at all personal about her.

"Bella is my twin sister. She's also here at Hogwarts...but was sorted into Slytherin." A sister that didn't like that she asked to keep a secret from their father. A sister that easily made friends there at the new school. But really, by now though she had shared TOO much information about herself. Surely she was going to bore the poor guy. She watched him, "I don't know your name. I've seen you around but I never quite heard the name," nor did she recall him telling her even after their adventure that evening.

"And what of that book you had? The one in your bag? You were practicing Spells. Charms. That isn't quite my area of expertise. Is that what you like best here?" She was rambling again but she realized she didn't know anything about him really...just that he now properly knew how to distinguish a fire charm, that he was a Hufflepuff, and that he was lucky enough to have friends that would wonder where he was in his absence.

A sister, huh? Ross did not have any siblings. Well, that was true until at least around early winter of the current year. He had not a clue what her name was going to be or even if she was born yet in actuality. The reminder that siblings even existed sort of was a call back to humanity for Ross. Perhaps he should actually check in with his parents on that. He was going to over winter break, but it was clear that certainly did not end well. Either way, it seemed there was not much more to inquire of that. It was nothing she really needed to know anyways. Only one girl even knew of it and perhaps another friend of his who stole his diary, and it was not like it was important enough to even bring up so he simply nodded.

He was going to press more until she inquired of his name. While it seemed unnecessary at the time, he realized he may be actually getting to know the other Hufflepuff now that she saved his life. Even so, that also meant the other way around though it did not matter much to Ross. Still it was really only polite to introduce oneself and Ross was curious of the girl's name as well.

"Oh, I'm Ross. Ross Stephens." he introduced with that same stupid expression on his face. "How 'bout you?" he inquired, sounding genuinely curious.

Just as he shot a question back, he was given another one to answer. It felt like some sort of game in a way, even if it was just socializing. Perhaps that was what was keeping him awake: the concept of a game. If that was the case, he better keep playing. He was not going to let himself pass out so soon, so he went on to the next part of his so called 'game' just in order to keep himself awake. Everything she said would likely feel much more heartfelt in the morning, but for now he could hardly process his own thinking. How could he process anyone else's emotions?

In response to the question, he nodded. Normally he was ecstatic to speak of his interest in charms and spells, but apparently that was not happening now. His mind to turn off in a way, but still he was going to speak of it. It would take a little bit more than emotional exhaustion, a day of hard work, setting himself on fire before being thrown into hypothermia inducing water, then being forced to put out the fire after all that to cool down his passion for charms to the point they were not there.

"I'm pretty cool at it, but this book is written by a legendary guy named Knox." He explained.

The truth was he actually stole it from the library. It was some notes a man named Knox stuffed in there covering the entirety of their first to last year. Now Ross was using it to learn second year spells that would otherwise be unreachable to him, and he was rather proud of himself.

"Say, what time is it?" he inquired practically out of the blue, quickly glancing out the window.

"Getting rather late," she said and looked also towards the window. "You probably would like your rest, huh?" she asked. "Pretty crazy day and all..." It had been the second time he looked in that direction and he seemed to be growing exhausted. "It's weird, you know. When the nurse sent me out to fetch her some more linens from the supply closet, I looked down from the staircases and the castle is so quiet tonight," she shrugged finding it quite peculiar. Then again, she had no idea of the Ball the others were having.

"Well Ross Stephens...it's been quite something," she smiled a little again. "And I'm sure I'll see you around since, you know, we're in that same house and all." She got up and placed her bag on her shoulder. There really wasn't a reason she needed to stay. The nurse had only asked she stay long enough to make sure she felt okay after falling into the cold water and true or not, she felt as though maybe she was irritating the boy. That or she just downright had no idea how to make friends.

She unclasped her bag and pulled out her bag of lemon drops and set them down on that sidetable. "Just in case. I've got more in my dormitory. Take care, okay?"

She closed her bag back up and sighed. "I'm sorry your set your foot on fire but um..." she hesitated. Dare she say it? She shouldn't. "...But this was nice." At least in her saying it, he knew that she welcomed his presence. It was the first person she had actually enjoyed being around since the start of term.

Ross hated to admit it, but she was right. He really did need his rest, and at this point he really did not bother to correct her. The weird goop he learned in potions class had already been applied to his foot, so he was all set for the night. It had already healed a lot, but for now he planned on staying there just due to the fact he needed his rest and was pretty sure he did not want to stand up and find out it was still burned. He supposed it took a bit of time, especially considering there was damaged skin.

"Suppose it's the ball or somethin'. I bet they're still havin ' fun." he remarked, but there was no longingness to go there at all.

If anything, he was grateful enough for the distraction. He never planned on going, and in fact he never wanted to in the first place. While he was rather extroverted as a person and perhaps it was the exhaustion speaking, It just seemed a little chaotic in his book.

"Maybe you should go, i betcha'd have fun." he smiled.

Ross meant it. It was a good time to get to know people, and if she got to know people then maybe she would be a bit more comfortable. The girl seemed to be imply she did not have many friends, which was a surprise to him at least. She literally saved his life, who would not want to be friends with her? Perhaps that was the favor he owed her? God, his head hurt too much to even think properly.

He only smiled at the remark that it had been quite something. It really had considering everything that had happened. It was probably his most chaotic journey yet, and he had had several. At least it was physically exhausting and not mentally, and he could trust he would heal within a day or so. It was a nice thing to lean on in times like these.

As she grabbed her bag and seemed to be getting ready, Ross was going to give her the bag back but soon he realized it gave him an excuse. This excuse could be so many things, but really it was just so he could inquire what he had been meaning to ask without sounding super awkward and out of the blue. As soon as she claimed it had been nice, he hastily jumped in as if there was a time constraint on when he could ask.

"Erm.. because it was so nice.. because it was! it really was! Would ya.. wanna sit with me on Monday or somethin'? For Breakfast of course, i could uh.. getcha your bag of Lemon thingies back!" he awkwardly bumbled, almost as if he were interrupting himself.

It was one of the few times he felt anxiety in himself that night that was more of emotional.

"Again erm... thanks.." he mumbled, hoping that made the entirety of that last part a lot less awkward.
