Now that it was warmer out, Devon found herself straying outside a lot more often. And not just for broomracing practice … although that was frequently at the forefront of her mind. After all, the last thing she needed was to embarrass herself … she did plenty of that as a first year when she fell off her broom in front of her entire flying class. Talk about embarrassing! Like now. It was such a nice April day outside. It would be such a shame to spend it curled up in her dorm … even with her awesome pet crup, Ginger!
Besides, getting out of the castle was probably very healthy for the young Horned Serpent. Her older sister, Rebecca, had been trying to encourage her to do so for a few weeks now … since the end of March, as a matter of fact. Besides, a shopping trip was in order for the sisters! It would be even better when she could practice playing soccer.
The young Horned Serpent gracefully glided out of the castle and onto the grounds of the school, carrying her violin. Ginger barked, dancing around her heels. Devon giggled and smiled at her half-crup. “You are so cute!” She exclaimed, giving a gentle rub to the crup’s head. Ginger barked lovingly in response.
Devon quietly hummed as she skipped through the grounds. Springtime was always so lovely to begin with, even in such a big city like New York City … where her best chance at seeing nature was Central Park. Now in her third year of experiencing springtime at Ilvermorny, she loved every minute of it! If only the weather could stay this nice!
Her green eyes glowed as she approached the lake. With a smile, Devon sat at the edge of the lake. Ginger barked and lay on the ground next to her. Giggling, she took her violin out of its case. Glancing out at the lake’s surface, she adjusted her violin on her shoulder and began to play the Original Matroid theme song.
