The day was yet to be born, and the birds had not begun to chirp. Marcella woke up at the crack of dawn and slithered out of her bed with carefully kept silence so she would not wake up the special girl. The child of death tiptoed to her closet so she'd be able to get dressed for the occasion. The day was special. It was Ava Lynn's birthday. Marcella's most treasured and trusted person in the whole world. Her only friend and her twin flame.
She had prepared a surprise for the birthday girl. Marcella had dedicated the entirety of the previous week so she could religiously prepare the party for Ava. She had invited many of their friends so they could celebrate together. The majority of them are Badgers and Ravens. They sure need to socialise more with the other two houses , thought Marcella as she rushed to get dressed. She quickly got dressed in an outfit in the colours vintage pink and blue.
The night before, Marcella had snuck out of bed after making sure Ava was asleep so she could make her birthday cake. She had asked the house elves to look after it. And in the evening of yesterday, Leo (@Leo Noxley), she and Cassie (@Cassie Jiang) had prepared the big beech tree near the great lake for the party. It was the perfect place. No one would be able to disturb them. They had set up streamers, never-bursting balloons, wind chimes, tables and many more party necessities. They had made many delicacies too.
The party was set to start at sunset. But Marcella had gotten up very early to finish some final preparations. Marcella had gotten Ava the last Heartstopper Volume. And she had pre-ordered the last and final volume, which was to be released on the 2nd of July. Marcella quickly arrived at the party spot and began to arrange the place a bit more as she was slightly fidgety due to her nervousness. As she packed the gifts, brought the food from the kitchens, and set up the music, the party guests filled in slowly as sunset began. Now all that was left was for the birthday girl to come. Marcella had sent Ava a riddle whose answer was the Great Lake. And had asked her to come there.

Sunset Soiree
The Seer wasn't one to celebrate her birthday; thus, she didn't expect a surprise party. She received a letter as soon as she woke up, thinking it was just going to be a small hangout. The Ravenclaw was so used to solving riddles just to get into her dorms; it was like a piece of cake for her to get to the Great Lake. The girl finishing her classes made her way to the Great Lake; luckily she had the time to get changed from her school uniform.
Her parents sent her letters from their hometown friends and other distanced relatives. Which she hasn't read yet. She reached the area she was asked to come to; she could make out decorations as she got close. She could make out streamers and wind chimes; the seer could sense it was all Marcella's doing. A natural grin grazed her face. She saw there were a few more students she knew.
There was a sudden excitement in her walk. She almost ran towards the area. She reached to see Marcella dressed up; the seer almost smashed herself to her best friend, hugging her tight and mumbling, 'Thank you.' Almost getting teary-eyed, she pulled back and looked at her with a big grin.

| xx | An… invitation? It was extremely unprecedented for Ebony Vetra of all people to receive an invitation — to a birthday party, no less. Why her, of all people? The girl, who was in no way accustomed to attending social functions of any kind, was rather perplexed as to why she was invited. It was Ava’s birthday party, a girl whom she had met a few weeks ago while attempting to clear the corridors of pygmy puff fluff. A notion previously ingrained within her was that she repelled people; she was unsettling, she was offputting. Has that changed? She certainly didn’t recall being particularly impressionable to Ava. The brunette was, of course, grateful for the invitation that had been extended to her by a certain Marcella di Angelo (another stranger whom she had yet to meet), but she really didn’t know Ava all that well. It was all the more unprecedented, because the girl had never attended a party. Throughout her childhood, there had simply been nobody to party with, nor was there any cause to celebrate. Even throughout the five years she had spent at Hogwarts, her attendance at social events were a rarity, with the recent Spring Ball being the only exception. She didn’t see her own birthday as a celebration that merited a party (though it was mostly because there was nobody she felt intimate enough with to invite), and invitations had never reached her hands — until today. It was rather surprising that her very first would be the birthday party of a girl she barely knew, though she did appreciate the kind gesture. The Ravenclaw headed down towards the Great Lake, where the party was ostensibly being held. Given the time of day, the setting sun cast an ephemeral, tangerine glow upon the waters. The party equipment in their saturated colours — streamers and balloons and all that jazz — were amalgamated with the slightly faded orange hue of sunset. So this was what a party was like; it wasn’t quite as overstimulating as she thought it would be. Though, that was likely because she had arrived before the crowd. It was already nightmarish to imagine the normally serene area bustling with overeager students. She could already envision them. The social interactions that awaited with bloodshot eyes and deadly jaws widened. She nodded in acknowledgement towards a girl whom she didn’t recognise — presumably Marcella, who had extended the invite. Ebony then turned her attention towards Ava, the birthday girl in question who was having her special day. The brunette attempted to eradicate her grouchy attitudes, if even just for the next hour, so as to not bring the girl any negativity on the day in which she was supposed to shine. She thus plastered on a wide smile (an extremely rare sighting) and approached Ava with a drawing of the girl in hand. Partly due to her inexperience in party-attending and partly due to her indecisiveness and unconventional shopping tastes, Ebony had found it particularly difficult to find a suitable gift. Hence, she resorted to what she did best: art. She had drawn Ava a portrait of her with a pygmy puff in a strangely colourful style that clashed with the artist’s typically darker creations. She could only hope that gifting a drawing was not too unconventional. “Happy birthday, Ava!” she proclaimed upon reaching the girl and handing her the drawing, “this is for you.” |
