My very own cat
Rosy walked on the streets of Diagon Alley, poking her head around for the pet shop. She was walking so fast, her parents had to jog to keep up with her. "What are you looking for?" asked her dad, panting.
Then, they found it: a shop whose windows were crowded with cages and smeared with never-drying glue for sticking posters like every other shop. There was a poster above it showing all the pets you could buy.
Rosy looked pleadingly at her parents, whose eyebrows were scrunched up in a worried and confused sort of look. "Come on, guys" she said. "You guys don't let me keep a pet at home, at least let me keep one at Hogwarts!"
Her parents sighed and they walked into the store. The bell rang as they entered and they saw a lovely old couple sitting at the counter. Rosy looked around and couldn't help but gasp in delight.
All the shelves of the shop either had cages on them, or they had some items to take care of pets. Even Rosy's parents were perplexed; they had never seen so many cats sitting together quietly without fighting.
Rosy looked at her parents with a very pleading look in her eyes. She began saying "Pleaseee, please please please!" But there was no need because her parents were looking at her smiling.
"Go ahead, pick whatever pet you want as long as it under 10 galleons" her dad added.
Rosy smiled and hugged her parents. She began scanning the shelves for the pet she wanted. It was a decision harder to make than she had thought. There was a variety of pets from owls to cats to arts to toads to rabbits to dogs and even snakes!
At first Rosy thought of an owl, but then she thought of how odd the muggles would think of her if they saw her roaming around with an owl. Plus, the owls looked rather expensive, above 15 galleons.
Rosy's eyes lingered upon rabbits. Surely, no muggles would find pet rabbits odd. But then Rosy thought how hard it would be to find a rabbit if it escaped from her.
Rosy was afraid of mice, snakes and spiders so definitely not those. The dogs were too expensive. Then, a thought struck Rosy- she could get a cat!
A cat wouldn't escape from her, it wouldn't look like an odd pet to muggles, they were in her budget and they were simply adorable! Rosy turned to her parents and said, "I want a cat."
Her parents looked shocked at this sudden decision and advised her to think it through once before coming to a conclusion. Rosy said again, "I have thought it through, I think cats would be the best option."
"Okay then," her mother said. "Which cat exactly do you want?"
"I want..." Rosy broke off analyzing the shelf of cats for her favourite one. "A grey mackerel tabby!" she said, a bright smile on her face. It cost exactly 10 galleons, was extremely adorable and perfectly what Rosy wanted.
"Okay then" her mother said, turning to the shopkeepers. "We would like to buy a grey mackerel tabby please."
The shopkeeper smiled and said, "That will be ten galleons. Anything else ma'am?"
"No, I think that'll be it" her mother said while handing over 10 galleons.
Rosy walked out of the store, her new cat meowing, looking happier than she had been coming out of any other store.
