Wren was overjoyed.

She, like so many others, had been anxiously awaiting this day for weeks. She had dreamt about it, stayed up thinking about it in all hours of the night. At the appointed time she made her way down to the Quidditch pitch, bringing her school broom as told by the students organizing, she stopped briefly in the changing rooms to don the incredibly beautiful sky-blue unicorn dress she had picked up for this very occasion.

She checked the make-up she had done in the dorms, blue eyeshadow, mascara, and some light pink lip gloss, then did her hair. It was already curled but she needed to twist a few strands into the middle of the back of her head and held it together with the pin her mother had given her. The pin had been in her family for years. Her grandmother had gotten it from her mother, who had been given it by her husband. Her grandmother had given it to her mother at her first dance, and her mother was carrying on the tradition by giving it to her. She had on her white lace dress sneaker, preferring to not wear flats or high heels thinking they were extremely uncomfortable. She then took up her matching hand-purse, told herself that everything was going to be fine, to calm her nerves, and set off for the Pitch hoping that Victor was already there.

Margo rushed around her dorm in excitement, strewing the contents of her trunk across the mattress and trying to find a misplaced packet of cat treats. Luckily, her little demon, Hades, seemed to have an extremely fast metabolism, which meant that he didn’t get fat from all the treats he received on a daily basis. Margo wanted to make sure he didn’t follow her tonight — it was best for Hades to avoid crowded places where his claws could ‘snag’ unsuspecting students. She also suspected she’d have her hands full persuading Ruby that a ball was necessary for her happiness and that breaking the rules from time to time was beneficial for one’s soul. Gosh, when had she become so responsible?

Margo scratched behind Hades’ ears before heading towards the door and- shoes, she needed shoes. She hastened to tie the laces on her knees high boots, grateful that she’d left herself some time to get ready. Rushing down the stairs to the common room, she felt her bag of clothes bumping comfortingly against her shoulder blades. She found Ruby in an armchair by the fire, looking the opposite of what Margo would describe as ‘carefree’. She sighed and took the girl’s hand, trying to pull her to her feet and groaning dramatically as she did so.

“Hate to break it to you, Miss Utterly Rebellious Student, but you’re a lot heavier than a feather.” Margo smirked happily at her friend. “No prefect duties tonight!”

She looped her arm with Ruby’s as they headed towards the Quidditch Pitch, the familiar thrill of rule-breaking creeping its way up her spine. She couldn’t help but admire the group of students that had set up the secret ball, and was incredibly proud that she knew one of the organisers. She made a mental note to congratulate Sean as soon as she was changed. The smell of food and hum of student’s voices became more prominent as they neared the changing rooms and Margo could feel the happiness rising in her chest. When they slipped inside the girl’s changing rooms, Margo’s eyes widened as she saw a familiar face.

“Hello there, Illowy.” She said happily. “You look just like a rebellious medieval princess.” She grinned, remembering the girl’s fondness for history.

Margo began to change into her own outfit. When she’d been informed that a dress was necessary, she hadn’t been told what kind of dress, so had picked out the least ballgown-like dress she owned. It was a short, red denim affair with a long-sleeved beige top underneath for warmth. Scotland was hardly a hot place in the spring, and she didn’t want to freeze like she was sure other girls would. Her usual scorpion earrings dangled from her earlobes and a red bandana held the flyaway blond strands of her hair away from her face. All in all, she was extremely happy with her outfit. Somebody being too annoying? No problem, she could just squish their toes with her wedge heels. Something disgusting on one of the tables? No big deal, she could just use one of her gloves to flick it towards an unsuspecting student. She mentally patted herself on the back for her practicality.

However, her confidence faded a little when stepped out of the changing rooms and onto the pitch. Perhaps it had been a bad idea to wear such a short dress, she thought as she gawked down at her legs. They looked so long and revealing in the light. Maybe she should just go back... Oh, who was she kidding? She had legs, Ruby had legs, everyone had legs. It shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone, let alone herself. Margo haughtily tilted her chin towards the sky, shaking her head to try and get rid of her silly thoughts. She strode away from the changing rooms, glaring at the growing collection of broomsticks as she passed. Really, there was no need to ruin an event with flying. She should find Sean and start having a good time. It could only go up from here, right?

Muggleborn Marion, a bit of alliteration there. She did not have the same means, or the galleons for that matter to afford the wedding gowns and ball gowns that her peers and underclassmen even were wearing. She was still satisfied with what she had, she was not here to make herself feel good next to the other girls. She felt pretty and that was what really mattered. She was also excited about her date. Yeah, Arlo was not what most would go for. Girls all wanted the same thing -- tall, dark and handsome. On occasion blonde for a bit of variety. In the end of course it was the same jawline, different eye color. She was more interested in the person rather than the package, no matter how small the package might be. Alro was a dear, sweet thing. He did not seem dangerous, she never had a sixth sense that there was something wrong or something hidden in him, not that she knew him well.

She got a lot of bad feelings. Forgot a lot of things too. But this sentiment persisted and that was something that she was not going to ignore. She wore her dress under her school robes. She did not carry with her a duffel bag like many of her peers. She would pull the robes off over her head and fold her robes into a neat little square before she would look at her reflection and smile. Perfect!
Heads to the dancefoor.

The Slytherin boy had to admit...when he'd first looked up wizard formal wear, he'd gotten the impression that dress robes looked more like oversized tuxedos or tailcoats. He had still been fully prepared to don such an outfit for Erin's sake. However, he had been pleasantly surprised to discover that the dress she ended up choosing to wear looked much less conservative and ostentatious as he might have expected from a third-year Slytherin girl of her pedigree and reputation.

Instead, she had selected a and much more modern and simple dress; one that seemed practical enough for a ball taking place on a Quidditch Pitch outdoors and yet elegant enough to fit the description of formal wear. At least...from what Jack could gather. He wasn't exactly an expert on dresses, but he much preferred Erin's choice in comparison to a good many others' he'd happened to glimpse that evening so far.

As for his own outfit...well, he would have liked Erin's help in picking something, but he also didn't want her to realize how inept he was at knowing what sorts of outfits purebloods wore at events like these. After asking a few other boys about theirs, he was delighted to discover most of the garb being worn really weren't all that different from usual muggle male formal attire at all. Dress suits, tuxedos, and tailcoats all seemed to be options available to him, so eventually he asked his mother for permission and funding to purchase an interesting coat that seemed somewhere between French aristocratic fashion and modern tailcoats. It had cost his parents a pretty penny, but his mother intended to make him wear it on more than simply one occasion.

In addition to the coat and black dress pants, Jack's mom also sent him a matching corsage and boutonniere to with the theme of the flowers he had collected for Erin's ball invite. There were some mini sunflowers predominantly featured on each along with spring green leaf accents (that went nicely with their Slytherin green outfits) and purple irises, roses, and ribbons to compliment Erin's hair as her favorite color.

Jack was extremely grateful to his mother and told her so. The boutonniere and corsage seemed like the perfect touches to go with their otherwise rather simple attire. Furthermore, they were a splash of bright color against deeper, dark pine greens and the yellow sunflowers reminded Jack of the brilliance if Erin's smile when she had first seen them on the day he'd invited her. And besides...what would a Blossom Ball be without a few blossoms?

He found himself absently smiling at the memory, readjusting his collar and tie and finally fastening his boutonniere to his lapel before eventually stepping out of the dressing room. His hazel gaze sought a familiar head of vivid purple locks, but either she had not yet shown up or she had already gone on ahead of him. Thick brows furrowing at the thought of the latter, he quickly put away his wand in his pocket and stashed his school robes in his bag before hurrying with all of his belongings out of the room to check the other areas. Along with Erin, there were others he intended to locate as soon as possible. Time was of the essence.

His hands nervously fiddled with the corsage he carried as he walked briskly away from the changing rooms, head jerking left and right with the urgent air of a boy on a mission.

The third year arrived at the changing section of the Blossom Ball with nothing but excitement running through his veins. George had told him to go, asked Alan to spend some time together there even which Alan was looking forward to. Only on the day prior he had been notified of the fact that Jake would be going as well, when the Hufflepuff asked him what clothes he should be wearing to such an event. The third year was willing to help in an instance and picked a fine outfit of his own that had been tailored to fit the third year's build perfectly. He was curious to see the Hufflepuff in a festive decent attire and could not wait until he laid eyes upon George either.

Now with his school robes wrapped around his slim figure, hiding his own clothes beneath the inky black cloak, he made his way over to the Quidditch Pitch, which is where George had told him the ball would take place.

When he entered the changing area for the boys he was surprised that both George and Jake were already present. Shaking away the instant need to apologize for arriving late, the third year stepped towards the badgers and offered them a nervous smile. They looked great; both of them did. George's outfit looked more traditional whereas Jake... well Jake was wearing Alan's clothes and Alan was both amused and happy at seeing the tiny badger in them. "H-Hi George, hi J-Jake... h-hope you didn't h-have to wait t-too long", he muttered, as he greeted the two of them with a kind smile.

Both of them were already dressed and ready to go, which made Alan wonder how many more minutes they must have arrived before him. Luckily he would not really have to change. He merely unclasped his school robes and shrugged them off, revealing a slim-fitted wine red vest above a white button up shirt that was accentuated by a black tie, neatly plugged below the vest. The dress pants he was wearing fitted the vest with its deep shade of red color and attached to his waist, halfway hidden away by the vest, he hid his wand holster against the left side of his hip.

He put his school robe on one of the clothing racks and turned to the two Hufflepuffs. "Are we w-waiting for a-anyone e-else?", he asked into the round, trying to hide the soft blush that threatened to stain his cheeks by wishing it away, which he managed to do only with moderate success. Neither of his friends have seen him in such formal attire before and he hoped he wouldn't scare them away. His telltale red sneakers, which seemed pretty worn down by now, and the penny necklace were the only things casual about the way he dressed; along with his tousled hair, that looked like they might have been messily combed to part at the hairline and reveal his face.

Early. There is some muggle adage about being fashioably late. To Vladimir late was late. He would withdraw a pocket watch from his pocket and check the time. Yes, now the others should be arriving. He should enter with the crowd. After all, he had a date he would be crushed if he disappointed.

A large bag was slung over his back. While the contents where wholly unknown, the shaft of his broom peered from the bag. For whatever reason he deemed a broomstick necessary for a dance. He came in the same attire he planned to wear to the dance, yet he deemed it necessary to spend some time in the changing room. Was it to get a perverted glance at one of the girls - no, they wish. He was looking for a member of the other team, not that he swung that way.

Some little thing, looked like he might be an over-sized toddler here at the ball. He would lean against a wall and people watch. To his astonishment, the gremlin child was already there. He expected the midget to have a more mature-seeming face, be a bit better dressed. There was a flare of heat within his breast as he eyed the young lad.

Hufflepuffs would know him as @Jack Morris, however Vladimir would know the young man by another name. A pair of leather gloves drawn over his hands as well as a sardonic smirk that slid over his face, he would approach the duo. He was talking to a taller pre-teen. She was interested in this joke? "Hey," he extended a gloved hand towards the boy. "Vladimir Athantos," he forced a smile. "Been wanting to meet you all week," he nodded his head in acknowledgement at George. "Friend? can never have enough of those now. Mind coming with me?"

Adam was trying to get changed as quickly as possible, afraid of missing out on any of the fun just outside. Unfortunately, that meant he was making a lot of mistakes. Every so often, he'd have to stop to adjust a sleeve or a pant leg or flip a jacket inside out. The small space that he'd staked out for himself in the boys' changing room was a bit awkward to move around in, especially because he didn't want to disturb anyone else as they all got ready. Most of his regular robes were on the floor, and his broom -- propped up against the door of a locker -- kept threatening to fall over at any time. He still didn't know exactly why the invitation had called for brooms at all, but he was excited to find out!

The Ravenclaw boy eyed the pair of dress shoes that he'd brought along, unsure of whether or not to put them on. He was desperately wishing for a regular school dance with no need for anything but dancing shoes. Of course, history didn't give him much of a confidence boost, and if a disaster on the pitch required fighting or fleeing, he wasn't going to make it very far in those clunky things. Erring on the side of caution, Adam put the dress shoes aside and kept on what he had worn down to the pitch. He bent down to pick up his old clothes and bunched them up, leaving them on one of the benches as neatly as he could and placing the unused shoes on top of the pile.

There was bound to be a mirror somewhere in this room, but Adam didn't want to waste any time, and he knew that if he got caught up scrutinizing himself in the glass he'd never be happy with the reflection. He could trust his own judgement, probably. Running a few fingers through his hair and making sure that it at least felt neat, he glanced down at his dress robes to search out any last wrinkles or folds. They were a very nice dark blue color, not too stuffy or fancy, but respectable enough. He had room for his most of wand in the pockets of the trousers, and he could cover up the part that didn't fit with his jacket. The journey down to the Quidditch pitch with his change of clothes concealed had left them a little wrinkled, and Adam frowned as he tried to smooth the more noticeable ones out. In the end, though, he decided that nobody was expecting perfection and settled for what he had. Besides, he'd reused these robes from earlier in the year, so it wasn't like he was trying to make any fashion statements.

Making sure that his belongings were out of the way one last time, Adam grabbed his broom and slung it up across his shoulders, glad to be carrying it again after leaving the Quidditch team. Even though he'd realized that the game wasn't really his thing, he was happy to have the Nimbus with him for moments just like these. Finally ready to go, Adam made his way towards the changing room doors and excused himself as he slid by the other guys, wondering if Cecily was already out there waiting. They'd come down to the pitch together, but obviously she couldn't accompany him in here, and besides she had to change too. They'd agreed to meet back up once they were both ready. Adam knew he was fairly easy to pick out in a crowd, so his plan was mostly just to wander around until she found him. What could go wrong with that, right?

A grin on his face, Adam left the changing room behind and smiled as the cool outdoor air hit his face, turning towards the field and the festivities that awaited him there.

Nico had been quietly looking forward to this day. As a Prefect, there was almost no way that this event would pass by her ears. It was the big event nearly everyone was talking about. Even though it was supposedly secret, it kinda felt like it was quite the opposite at this point. But no need for dillydallying.
After carefully packing her outfit in her room and being casually dressed, Nico smiled at Pip softly. 'You stay here okey? I know last time wasn't such a... good time...' On the last Blossom Ball, she did have a date. She confessed to the biggest weirdo of the castle. The outcast dhampir, Kaegen. He had left her by herself. Alone. On a party where she sadly knew nearly no one. 'I'm sure this time it will be better! After all, I'm going with Quinn.' Pip tilted his head, curiously. The dhampir was sure the fluffball was very curious to who this 'boyfriend' of hers was. 'Not this time, Pip. Next time... This party will be packed I'm sure. Not a place for sweet balls like you.' He sighed softly and turned onto its side before rolling over to her pillow. 'I'll promise to come back in one piece! Bye Pip!'

And she was off. Tapping up the stairs, making her way to the Grounds, quickly locating the Quidditch Pitch. Wearing her regular school robes, she made sure to not be too obvious. Her strawberry red hair flapping in the wind as she finally reached the changing rooms. Finally. Entering, she noticed that quite alot of students were already present. No surprise there. Nervously, occasionally greeting peers she passed by, she moved herself to a corner. Good, this should do.

Slightly embarassed, she slipped out of her robes, changing into her light blue tulle dress. Lightly curling her hair. Twirling some strands into two buns on the side of her head. On the more backside, she'd put two hairclips, existing out of fake raven wings, extended upwards. Subtle feathered bracelets coloured her wrists. Mother did her best to make her outfit rather refined but still rather childfriendly. Nico loved it...

After finishing up, she carefully folded her schoolrobes and placed them down in the same corner. Finally leaving the changing rooms, she'd pass by the Slythering lockerrooms to pick her broom. Even though it might be abit clumsy to carry it with her, she didn't want to take any chances. If anything bad would happen... Her broom would be a fast way out, no?

There was a constant thrumming, made his ears heavy. For the most part it was a constant, this white noise. This whisper of ill-gotten intentions that were easy to ignore, like the wind or a nightmare. A dream half-forgotten. But the feeling was ever present, this tangible burden. This voice nipping at his ear.

"Jake..."

"JAKE!"

A voice he had not heard in some time. A voice that only he could hear.

"Jake, run!"

There was no meaning behind the warning. Just an urgency on the force. A sharpness that demanded his attention.

"Not to the fields!"

The disembodied voice snapped.

"Not to the pitch!"

Then where!

"Run Jake! Open them and run!"

Open what.

"The bludgers boy. The bludgers!"

The voice was in a state of panic.

"Do it now boy! Release them and then-- to the pitch. To the stands. Get away! IT. IS. Coming!"

It was the mask making a demand of him. It had not made a demand in some time. It had made a demand before. A demand to fight back against Kyle DeRook that he had ignored and was pummeled for. It had told him to doodle and to draw. It spoke of intentions to be brave. To have no fear. Neither notions the boy subscribed to. No, he was still scared and insecure. The maturity of a boy half his age. It felt secure but insecure. He was dependent and without responsibility it was not his fault, he did not need to decide. It was easier that way, even if he died. Even if his friends died protecting him because he refused to be brave.

There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.

Illowy was startled from her thoughts when a familiar voice called out to her. Turning away from her reflection, her pale eyes flickered through the bustle of the changing room before she caught eye of her housemates, Ruby and Margo, and offered the pair a small smile. It was easy to figure they must've just arrived given they were still in their plain clothes. Then again, some people didn't always care to dress up much for these sort of things. She was pretty sure she'd seen a couple of students earlier in just jeans and nice tops, "Hey." she greeted back before looking down at herself for a moment as Margo paid her the compliment. With a shy chuckle, the girl tossed a tress of hair back over her shoulder, thankful for the small confidence boost - even if it might not've been intentional on Margo's part, "Thanks. I'll see you guys out there later."

As the girls wandered off to change, Illowy put her bag away. With one final primp in the mirror, and the sweet confidence booster from her housemate, the young snake took the plunge to make her way out of the dressing room and into the party.
