You Shed Quite A Lot For Such A Small Creature

Aly knew, in her heart of hearts, that she and Haven were terrible together. Not in the sense you were thinking - the two girls were friends, best mates even, but not like that - but, rather, that every time they got together to study, they ended up... not studying. They were excellent distractions for each other, but alas, with N.E.W.T.s looming on the horizon, distractions were so not needed right now.
As such, when Aly had suggested getting together to study for their Herbology N.E.W.T. (a subject both girls thoroughly enjoyed), they had agreed to meet on the Viaduct and walk down to the greenhouses or library together, whichever one they felt that they most needed at the time. That way, they could get in a little bit of chatter and gossip - after all, both girls had foreign beaus now and positively loooved to talk about them - whilst on their way, and then they could buckle down upon arriving to their destination.
Except that never happened. When the girls met at the Viaduct, they proceeded to talk for nearly two hours, leaning out over the stone wall to stare down into the gorge and feel the strong wind mess with their respective mops of hair. Petting Aly's fluffy Silver Siberian cat, Dauncey, who always liked to tag along to prowl the low stone barriers of the Viaduct, and Haven's scraggly purple pygmy puff Marcus, who was just kind of there, took up a decent bit of time as well. There was a lot to hear about Haven's American boyfriend, and Aly was all too keen to share the new goings-ons between her and Kavi, so before they knew it, the entire lunch hour (and then some) had passed, and Haven had to get going to her next class. Aly's strawberry-blonde friend departed with a wave, and Aly turned to pick up Dauncey from the railing before she would head off to the greenhouses herself to cram in a bit of lone studying before her own next course - only to find her very silver cat a very odd shade of shimmery purple.
Aly cocked her head, stepping closer. "Did I hit you with a colour-changing charm on accident, Daunce?"
A closer examination, however, yielded the knowledge that Dauncey was not himself purple, but rather, that he had been coated in a light sheen of lilac fur. Aly knew the shade immediately, plucking a tuft from right between her cat's eyebrows and rubbing it between two fingers. "Marcus," she sighed, heavily. "Lear's damp socks. That little creature sure does shed quite a lot."
The seventh-year Ravenclaw pulled out a small brush from where she always kept it in her satchel and began to brush away the offending fur from her cat's already rather floofy exterior, bringing away a good bit of silvery hair with it. After a few moments, she had a pile of silver-purple fluff on a nearby stone, and she gladly brushed it straight off the viaduct, where the wind caught it and made it dance and separate into smaller pieces that eventually splashed lightly into the water far below.
Only then did she notice the other small mounds of purple fuzz all around where she and Haven had been standing. And on the black robes of her Ravenclaw uniform, too - extremely visible against the dark fabric.
Clearly, this was revenge for that time Marcus had found out that Aly owned pygmy-puff-fur slippers.
It took the teenager a full twenty minutes to sweep up all the fur with her hands and brush it off her robes. She would have benefitted greatly from the use of a lint roller, but being a pureblood, Aly had no idea that those even existed. Still, she did a halfway decent job of not looking like she had just dived into a pit of pygmy puff down, and the bridge was mostly clear as well by the time she managed to shove a giant pile of fluff off the side. Honestly, there was more fur here than Aly had ever seen on Marcus at one time. The pile was bigger than the creature! How did he shed so much???
Aly made a mental note to ask Haven about it - and to remind her, perhaps, to buy a glue trap - next time she saw her. In the meantime, though, she hefted her silvery boy into her arms - not caring about his fur getting all over her, for that was an everyday occurrence by now - and headed off in the direction of the greenhouses, where, hopefully, she would be free of purple fur, at least for the day.
