✽ When Elwyn found out about that he can help getting rid of pygmy puff fluff, he immediately jumped up, determined to help Professor Townsend, his charm professor. His grandmother was allergic to these little creatures too unfortunately. He and his sister always helped him find and get rid of the shed fur. This was really nostalgic to him so he decided to help. He got ready, wearing a mask over his face. He always wore it, paranoid that he somehow has this allergy too and he hated feeling sick. It was a Saturday, his homeworks were completed already so he had plenty of free time and very few friends. He thought about inviting someone, but he was always more productive alone so he decided against it.
He started at his own common room with a broom, gloves and a plastic bag. He saw people staring at him, but he ignored it and started looking around for chunks of purple or pink fur with wide eyes. This stuff seemed to be everywhere, he wondered why the people in the common room didn’t take care of it. No one has taken notice of it? It was very obvious, even for him.
He started picking up the fur, some with his gloved hands, some with the broom he brought. With his hand, it was easier to pick up the little pieces but without the broom he found it more challenging to collect the larger puff fur, so he was glad he brought it along.
He checked the place twice to male sure he missed no spot and exited the common room. Outside, he saw more people crouching with gloves on and without it too. He wondered why people weren’t more cautious about this but remembered his sister did not wear gloves any time they accompanied their grandmother. He ran towards a not so crowded space. Thinking that if there is a lot of people in a spot they will cover it without trouble. He ran outside and saw that the ground was covered in pink and purple, like the grass was painted on. He immediately got to work, staring at one of the corners for efficiency. He was very engrossed in his task, he didn’t even have time to daydream. After a while of cleaning the ground, he found a little pink pygmy puff sleeping near a handful of fur. He looked around, searching for its owner but did not find anyone near him so he picked the little fluff of a creature up and thought to himself that he will find its owner later, when he finished cleaning. He placed the tiny animal on his shoulder carefully and continued sweeping the ground.
By the time he thought he was done with this area, with a little help from kids who have found their way here, it was around midday and he realized he missed lunch. He was so caught up with helping the professor he forgot eating and he was starving. The pygmy was still on his shoulder, now awake. He started asking around if the animal is theirs or if they saw someone with a pygmy around here not too long ago. Eventually he found its owner and gave it back to them. The creature’s owner offered him some food he saved up and he gratefully accepted it. Luck was on his side this day, it seems. When he finished eating, he slowly walked back to his dorm right before curfew. His back was hurting from all the crouching, but he hoped that he helped with the professor’s allergy. After a quick, warm shower he fell gracefully into his bed and fell asleep not long after. ✽
