Transfiguration class had just ended a bit ago, and Robin was heading towards the study room to, well, study. It was his first Friday in Hogwarts, he'd like to use it wisely and dedicate a whole afternoon to reviewing the material he learned this week. It was all so exciting, with the exception of flying lessons being somewhat nerve-racking . . .

Back to the point, shall we?

Robin was heading towards the study room, or at least he thought so, but it just never came to his view. He's certain that he's on the second floor, but every floor is so vast and complicated. For all Robin knows, he might be on the opposite side of the castle from where he's supposed to be. There were a couple of students roaming just like him, but different in the sense that they all had somewhere to go. Robin was bad at asking directions. Or rather, he was bad at stopping an obviously busy person for his own humble troubles.

He wandered aimlessly for a few more minutes, then he saw a door. With the slight hope of finally arriving at his destination, Robin opened it, revealing the most disgusting sight he'd ever seen in his life.

Shite. Robin heard some stories of abandoned toilets in Hogwarts from his parents, but he honestly didn't care that much because he thought he'd never come here. Robin frowned. His already flat face now looking even more displeased, but he proceeded. Why? Judging by the stories his mum and dad told, students often came here to play games or just be in a quiet place. That probably means they've got time to spare. At least for a tiny question of where the study room is.

Robin took a deep breath to prep himself for conversation, immediately realizing that the air is just as disgusting as the scenery. He coughed and heard an echo of it, but there's also something else. There was a sound coming from deeper within the toilets, the delightful hymn of civilization, he sarcastically thought. Robin started walking towards the sound, hoping it's not a malign ghost aiming to trap him here forever.

Even though it was only her first week at Hogwarts, Chaewon already felt like she wasn't in the right place. She dreamed about Hogwarts and learning new spells but... It was just too much pressure, and every time Chaewon felt misunderstood, she went to the abandoned toilets. There weren't many people coming there, so it was a quiet place, and the girl could calm down. Today was somehow different, but Chaewon couldn't recognize the difference.
Chawon took a deep breath. Everything is okay; she will do okay in the upcoming classes. She will just study more… when she is in the right mood for it, not like now. Chaewon took a little piece of paper from her pocket, and with a muggle pencil, she was drawing wavy lines. Chaewon often did that but only when she thought she was going to cry. And she can’t show she is weak, so every time the bad thoughts come into her head, she has the helpful piece of paper. There was a lot of homework she needed to do, so maybe it was time to go to the study room? Chaewon knew Hogwarts like her five fingers. She loved exploring and discovering new places, so the second day Chaewon was here, she already knew half of the castle. She had in mind that even when she finishes her first year at this place, there will still be a lot of adventures and interesting places. But the girl only thought about how she was bad at Transfiguration. She was a metamorphmagi and it meant that she should be good at turning things into something else, but maybe that wasn’t true. Maybe she was just a dumb kid who would never learn how to cast a simple spell, and someday she'd be kicked out of school because she wasn't smart enough?

After getting a bit closer, Robin realized that the noise was something akin to rustling paper. Was someone doing their homework here? Robin thought in disbelief, maybe they were also trying to get to the study room, but got lost like me? Oh no . . .

With the newfound doubt that perhaps this other person also didn't know their way around Hogwarts, Robin approached the stall from which he heard the sound.

He allowed himself to breathe for a few more seconds, then lifted his hand to knock on the door. "Excuse me, I uh . . . you're the only one here and I just wanted to ask if you knew where the study room was?"

What he didn't anticipate was the door creaking open on its own. He assumed the door was locked, but it looks like the person inside wasn't doing anything too private, they just wanted a quiet place to be. He lowered his gaze and saw a girl sitting on the floor. It was a weekday so the girl wore her school robes—a Slytherin. She had dark hair and dark eyes with softer facial features; There weren't any East Asian kids in his neighborhood, he only saw some families during hikes in the Highlands. There were quite a number of human races in Hogwarts, but Robin still isn't used to distinguishing between countries. He desperately hoped that this won't come up in their conversation.

Robin then saw the girl's hands. She was using her knee as a table to draw something on a piece of paper. He couldn't make out what she was doodling, but frankly it wasn't any of his business.

" . . . Sorry, didn't mean to open the door." He stepped back a little, making room for the girl if she wanted to come out of the stall. Robin started waiting for her response, eyes locked on a random scribble on the wall to avoid eye contact.

Even though Chaewon grew up in different but friendly families and got attention, she still felt unnecessary. That's why she always had an extra piece of paper in her pocket and, surprisingly, a muggle pencil. For others that may sound stupid, but it's her only way to calm down.
"It's not the end..." Chaewon thought. She kept drawing the lines, but then she added a little smiley face. Drawing smiley faces was always her favourite part, even if she was sad. It reminded her that you need to act like everything is okay even if it isn't.
Chaewon was already calmed down and was ready to go somewhere she didn't know yet. She knew that she needed to do homework and study more, but now she just wanted to go and eat a chocolate frog. She had many of them and secretly kept chocolate frogs under her bed.
She stood up and was ready to go, but then a boy from nowhere showed up and asked her for the directions. It looked like he was a sign for Chaewon that she really needed to study instead of eating chocolate frogs.
"Study room?" The girl asked him and wanted to prove if she heard correctly. The study room was on the second floor like the abandoned toilets. She knew where the place was because she loved to explore. Chaewon was bad at explaining, especially directions. Maybe she really needed to go to the study room together with the boy? But then she couldn't eat the chocolate frogs...
"You need to go..." Chaewon tried to explain where the study room was, but it was hard for her.
"I also need to go and study, so don't you mind if I just go together with you?" Chaewon asked. She just didn't want to leave the boy here, and it was impossible to tell the directions.

The girl stood up, repeating Robin's question as if to confirm his destination. "Yeah, the study room." He nodded in response. The girl seemed reluctant to mention the word "study", was she perhaps trying to avoid homework? Robin felt even more awkward than he already was. He had nothing against people who preferred not to use their time on assignments and reviewing lessons, he doesn't do it because he thinks it's right, he just likes studying. Robin didn't want to disturb whatever the girl felt like doing at the moment, especially as she seemed rather down. However, there were no other options in this case, since the toilets were empty besides from her presence.

"You need to go . . . " The girl started but quickly trailed off. It looked like she wasn't very used to giving directions. Robin understands the problem, describing spacial relations was different than actually walking in them. Even if someone knows the castle well, they still might struggle producing a coherent set of directions.

The dark-haired girl tried her best to give clear directions before continuing the conversation in a different way: "I also need to go and study, so don't you mind if I just go together with you?"

"Oh yeah, n-no I don't mind. Thanks. A lot." Robin bowed his head slightly in thanks, starting his way towards the doors of this wretched place. He was very ready to bid farewell to these "uniquely fragranced" abandoned toilets.

Robin thought the girl came here to avoid school work, but maybe that was a misconception after all. Or maybe she was trying to avoid it, but Robin's intrusion urged her to reconsider . . . he didn't know how to think of that. Robin was sorry for interrupting whatever she was doing, but also glad that he "helped her" pick up her motivation, in some sense? It was all very confusing, and he didn't know which reaction was the more socially acceptable one. So, like always, he just maintained his neutral expression and followed the Slytherin girl as she led him towards the study room.

Hi, I'm fine either way: I know the rpg request said something like 2-3 posts from each person, so we could end after one more exchange (maybe got to the study room and may or may not have exchanged names for some reason); we could also keep going longer if you have thoughts on what to say during their walk there. Either way, feel free to decide in your next post and I'll follow your lead!

Abandoned toilets weren’t the best choice for Chaewon to be there when she felt sad. They were abandoned, so no one used them or cleaned the toilets. After being there a while Chaewon always went to take a quick shower because of the smell. Chaewon didn’t realize she smelled bad until some girl said Chaewon is ugly. That was a life lesson. Always take a shower.
The boy confirmed he wanted to go to the study room and, of course, to study. Or maybe the boy had other plans and Chaewon had no idea. However, she needed to lead him to the study room because when she started explaining the directions to him, it really seemed like Chaewon also didn't know where the study room was. Chaewon didn’t want him to think that she was lying, so she asked if the boy is okay if Chaewon comes with him. She really needed to do homework, and that was a chance for her.
Chaewon was only good at transfiguration because she was a metamorphmagi. She could change her body shape, but most of the time it didn’t work. In potions class, she always mixed the ingredients, and the potion wasn’t as good as it needed to be. The Korean girl could learn spells—not really bad, but it wasn’t her favorite class. There were many other things she needed to learn at Hogwarts. It seemed like maybe that’s not the place she dreamed of going to. But she tried and maybe this day was somehow different.
"Are you coming?” Chaewon asked when she went near the exit. She had planned to lead him to the study room, and maybe she will even do her homework there. Maybe. She was also happy to leave those abandoned toilets because they really smelled like dead fish. Chaewon leaved the abandoned toilets.

Robin nodded in confirmation. As thoughts were racing in his head, he must've forgot to keep walking. He followed the Slytherin girl as she led him towards where he assumed was the study room. As they walked down the halls, Robin looked around intently to familiarize himself with his surroundings, so that he'd remember the route next time.

Maybe I should get a map of Hogwarts, he thought. Or make one for myself if the ones out there are confusing or don't exist at all. Robin put that item in his mental to-do list, he could mention it to his mum the next time he writes a letter to her.

Speaking of letters, the howler that appeared in front of his breakfast this morning was so very humiliating. It forced him to write a letter immediately, so the next chance he gets after a logical gap would be maybe the end of September or start of October. Of course he can write another letter to Myrcelle, she'd love consecutive reports of her son's school life, but it'd feed into her appetite and give her the unreasonable expectation that Robin would write to her every week. That would be a nightmare.

Putting the request for a map behind him, Robin refocused on his surroundings. The halls were vast and winding, with occasional groups of students roaming them. It was Friday, after all. Some students might still have classes, others might be heading back to their common rooms or towards study spaces like him and the girl.

Their walk to the study room was silent. They didn't talk to each other or exchange names, as the girl seemed quite concentrated on taking Robin to their destination. He was comfortable with that, minimal unnecessary socialization was the ideal interaction he'd hope for. Next thing he knew, the Slytherin and the Ravenclaw arrived in front of a door, Robin walked up and pushed it open, revealing tables and chairs arranged like a . . . well, study space.

"Thanks for taking me here," he started, holding the door open for her, "Feel free to, uh, ask me questions if you're stuck on anything." Robin regretted his offer almost right after it came out of his mouth. That probably counted as an unnecessary social interaction and an invitation for future nuisance, but he also felt like it was a more practical thanks he can give her. Not to assume anything, but the way she was reluctant to talk about studying, and how she was hiding in the abandoned toilets . . . Robin suspected that the girl might have some academic troubles.
